Wow. Anyone that risks this country's future by voting for a man that may not be alive in 4 years which in turn would make this extremely unqualified individual president, needs to have their head examined. Seriously. Hollyroller, your comments and propaganda are exactly the thing that is going to bring your party down. To rally around a politician (especially an extremely unqualified one) because of their devout belief in god makes you people lemmings. You can follow your nominees of the cliff, just don't ask the country to do so.

It really funny and amazing to hear main media pundit took GOP's "that Sarah Palin will bring her ENERGY EXPERTISE into play" because she was the governor of ALASKA" line hook and sinker. These, even without a REAL defination of the person (thru unbiased, no hold bar interview). DICK C and W Bush are both "oil men" as they said, but where are we in our energy situation right now. The selection of Sarah Palin as Mc Cain's running mate is a "political" decision to make Mc Cain palatable to the GOP based, plain and simple. Having the "Country First" as a slogan for this GOP candidates is pure joke for the simple reason that based along on Mc Cain biography... he is in the fight not because of the love or service of the country... it's because he want to the President ... plain and simple. Now to give excuse that "we will have Gov Palin available to main stream media interviiew if the GOP campaign see it fits" is another proof that it's really Country First. Or maybe they are afraid (because again, she was choosen for convinience ) that having her in the "spot" and unable to articulate her position on real issues (economics, global warming, foreign affairs etc) will unmasked her as a "palin GOP mouth piece who's only credential is to deliver can message or speech such as the one she used last week.

All we are saying is that, Let's hear what Palin stands for with "Meet The Press".

  • Posted By: mccainsupporter @ 09/07/2008 12:25:55 PM

John McCain picked Governor Sarah Palin because he intends to follow through and make his Project Lexington for United States energy independence the dominant issue in this campaign. Governor Sarah Palin is a strong supporter of increased offshore drilling and she knows that Alaska has an offshore coastline greater than the rest of the country combined and is also comes in second among the states in oil production. Alaska Governor Sarah Palin and John McCain understand that Obama and the Democrats would never consider government loan guarantees or tax breaks for a sure thing that will produce energy for the American gas tank. In fact Democrats are trying to put together a so-called windfall profits tax which will have the effect of discouraging future investment in the United States oil industry. John McCain also knows that Governor Sarah Palin family situation also illustrates that longterm Democratic leadership hostility and policies toward United States owned energy companies have caused our current energy crisis. Her husband works for British Petroleum but instead should be working for the former American owned Arco Oil Company. Arco Oil Company developed and explored the Alaska North Slope and formerly owned eighty percent of our proven Alaskan reserves. With its substantial oil reserves Arco Oil Company should have bought British Petroleum instead of British Petroleum buying out Arco Oil Company during the second Bill Clinton administration. With the right business environment and support from both political parties in the United States, Arco Oil Company might have been more successful and been able to buy out British Petroleum instead of British Petroleum buying out Arco Oil Company.

Look at Apple Computer and Microsoft. Their success in the computer world have made them bullet proof to corporate takeovers. Longterm Democratic hostility and opposition to offshore drilling and periodic talk of windfall profits taxes contributed to the takeover of Arco Oil Company.

Mc Cain is now firmly in the pocket of Big Oil, and his republican handlers have seen fit to pair him up with the friendly face of the mst deadly industry on earth. McCain doesn't have a clue anymore, and neither does anyone else who can't see that these people are nothing more than puppets of the oil industry, which sees its days being numbered in an Obama administration. You can "nobama" all you want, the future is coming- don't be left behind and bitter, clinging to your guns and your religion. truth often hurts.

    • Posted By: StormAZ100 @ 09/07/2008 12:41:31 PM

And 'refiguring taxes on oil' to get revenue for a $1200 tax rebate to Alaskans is different than windfall profit taxes how?

Sarah Palin is a female Dick Chaney with all the abuse of power and bludgeoning that goes on in the VP's office now. Again, it's more of the same.

I also am a Christian, and however, I do not believe that I am the center of anything. Christ is my center, and I take issue with Christians, like Palin, who believe that they can demand of God, and He will do their will. In the book of Isaiah God says: My thoughts are not your thoughts, and My way is not your way. We do not get to dictate to God. How about a little humility, Sarah. Sign me: Republican for Obama

Anyone catch Hussein on Stephanopoulos this A.M.? I'm still laughing. George made the comment that McCain had never questioned Hussein's faith. The Hussein response????

"I have never said, Sen. McCain has questioned my MUSLIM FAITH." George said..."You mean Christian faith?" The came the backtrack.

Bet we will hear this replayed about a zillion times.

THIS WOMAN KNOWING LIED ABOUT an entire host of issues and policies in her speech!!! How can you trust someone who has been this deiceitful and has only been in the public spotlight for 15 minutes!! In addition to the earmarks (pork money - special favors for her) she lied about the jet being sold on e-bay - how when she was mayor she left them with a surplus - HA!! Sarah Plain left her tiny town of 6,000 in debt - still to this day. And oh - here's yet another lie she is decieiving the American Voters!! Palin is Bush - Palin is Mcain - McCain and Palin = BUSH!!!
On the campaign trail Saturday, Gov. Sarah Palin defended her record on earmarks and spending claiming - per ABC's Jake Tapper - that she "championed reform of earmark spending by Congress, and I told the Congress thanks but no thanks on that 'Bridge to Nowhere.' If our state wanted a bridge, we'd build it ourselves."

By now, it is evident that the Alaska Republican is either knowingly deceiving voters or simply has her facts wrong when it comes to her support for the bridge. Palin backed the project when she ran for the governor's seat, even posing for a picture holding a t-shirt reading "Nowhere, Alaska" - a sympathetic gesture to the ridiculed construction plans.

And, it turns out, she once promised the voters of her home state that she would not only come to the defense of the bridge but would "not allow the spinmeisters to turn this project or any other into something that's so negative."

What's it say to the nation when Palin won't even allow herself to be interviewed? I'll tell you, it says she has alot to hide from, alot to learn about politics, and she is coming off as UNQUALIFIED to serve as V.P.

How much do you want to bet that she will appear on GOP-friendly FOX News, but refuse interviews with the likes of: MSNBC, CNN, etc. If you can't stand the heat...umm....GO BACK TO ALASKA!!!

  • Posted By: Yes! We ALL Can @ 09/07/2008 1:26:40 PM

Talk about lousy vetting - SARAH PALIN IS A LIAR, SMOKESCREEN AND A DISTRACTION FOR THE MCCAIN CAMPAIGN so they won't have to talk about issues!! But good job Sarah - more of your issues are coming out about your true stance on policies! Here's another lie Sarah Palin told - like Obama said - Hey Sarah - YOU CAN'T JUST MAKE THINGS UP!!! This is not a game and you cannot toy with the American people's lives just to help McCain Bush!!!

On the campaign trail Saturday, Gov. Sarah Palin defended her record on earmarks and spending claiming - per ABC's Jake Tapper - that she "championed reform of earmark spending by Congress, and I told the Congress thanks but no thanks on that 'Bridge to Nowhere.' The problem with McSAME and Palin is that they wholeheartedly embrace Bush's failed policies, and will continue down the road of failure if elected. How do they plan to debate Obama and Biden, the true change agents? They will look silly, stubborn, and completely out of touch with the desires and needs of average Americans. After the debates, I predict Obama will widen his lead, and his momentum will be nearly impossible to stop. Palin is just the flavor of the month. Women will not vote for a pro-choice hick, who kills innocent animals for "sport", supports illegal wars, and who is obviously confused, being that she is a menber of the GOP , the party responsible for holding women back for decades. Palin is a poseur, and Americans are already seeing through the gimmick.

  • Posted By: true_patriot @ 09/07/2008 12:06:10 PM

McCain is a temperamental, impulsive, and forgetful candidate who is like the Bush administration and copies everything Obama and the Democrats have been doing because they have no original or progressive positions of their own. So who cares about the Palin gimmick? This article was too long and boring to read all the way through.

You don't abandon your WIFE ever when she is down, hurt or unable to care for herself- never. I don't know for sure but it is said that both McCain and Cindy cheat- who can blame them for that.
Notwithstanding, never leave a love one when they are down.

I prefer one that admits to his/her shortcoming then strive to achieve (Palin), rather than one that pretends to know but do not (Obama).

      • Posted By: lisas @ 09/07/2008 12:33:56 PM

What could possibly be more elitist than expecting the nation to kowtow to and fall in line with your religios beliefs? This pandering by McCain to a fundamentalists base with whom he shares few berliefs is offensive and unworthy.

Say what you will about Obama, when it came to chosing a second chair, he chose someone prepared on day one to do exactly that. He did not choose someone who had to be hidden from the national media. How is a candidate who cannot hold her own on Meet the Press going to be able to hold her when meeting with the Iranian leader?

Here is an update on ANOTHER BarackStar buddy....wonder if Hussein looks cute in an orange jumpsuit?

Is Rezko working with the feds?
SOURCES: | He's been back at courthouse numerous times

August 28, 2008 Chicago Sun Times

"As his sentencing nears, pressure is mounting on Tony Rezko to cooperate with federal investigations into some of the highest-profile politicians in the state -- including Gov. Blagojevich.

Two more trials -- one in Chicago next spring, one in Las Vegas -- hover over the Wilmette businessman and onetime prolific political fund-raiser for the governor and BARACK OBAMA.

Tony Rezko was inside the federal courthouse as recently as Aug. 14, sources for the Sun Times say.

Now, sources tell the Chicago Sun-Times that Rezko has been seen at the federal courthouse as many as a dozen times since his June conviction. He's been held since then at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in downtown Chicago.

Rezko hasn't had to be back in court since a jury convicted him of corruption charges involving state deals. And his scheduled Sept. 3 sentencing was recently pushed back to Oct. 28".....ONE WEEK BEFORE ELECTION....hmmm...just a coincidence???

Ever since the Palin announcement, I have seen the elite media and the Dem cranked on their attack machine 150%, and pretty much 99% of the attacks are of personal & sexist nature! One has to wonder how an ordinary woman could scared them that much!!!

    • Posted By: neos @ 09/07/2008 12:37:46 PM

Easy. Karl Rove twice scared the American populace into voting W into office. In his latest incarnation as Steve Schmidt, he could just win another election through smears and character assassination - he certainly won't win it on the real issues. McCain of 2000 is dead. The current McCain is a creature of the extreme right wing of the republican party, And Palin is Bush in a beehive do - scary, very scary.

      • Posted By: SEA Observer @ 09/07/2008 12:42:45 PM

So you mean the Democrat is following Rove's footstep by smearing & character assassinating Palin???

        • Posted By: neos @ 09/07/2008 12:52:36 PM

NNo. Unfortunately in a free society there are sometimes excesses. I deplore the inappropriate articles in the national enquirer, et. al. regardless of whom is being attacked. As Senator Obama has clearly atated families should be off limits. I am more concerned about the 527 groups, Steve Schmidt's dfeliberate falsehoods on Rezco and Ayers, etc., etc. But as concerns Palin, Senator McCain threw her out there as a surprise without letting the media vet her. Sure, there has been a feeding frenzy. But it is their right, no their obligation to find out about a person who will have access to the nuclear trigger. Her extreme right cultural conservative views are entirely relavent as are the ongoing ethics investigations and policy flip-flops.

          • Posted By: labman57 @ 09/07/2008 1:23:10 PM

The same people who think it is abhorrent that the National Enquirer is probing her personal life were dancing with joy when the same publication announced the Edwards affair. You cannot have it both ways. What's good for the goose....

    • Posted By: labman57 @ 09/07/2008 1:21:11 PM

Since the McCain campaign did such a lousy job vetting her, and since she hopes to be elected to the #2 position of power in the executive branch of the federal government, I thank the media for probing deeply into her background.

Obama has been scrutinized for almost 2 years, and still his critics complain that they don't know enough about him.. Palin has been scrutinized for about 2 weeks. She has refused all interviews, and has so far only delivered canned, scripted speeches. McCain' s campaign wants everyone to stop looking into her background and just take their word that she's honorable and qualified.

I don't think so. It is our right and duty to have detailed knowledge of the history, qualifications, and policies of those who seek to be elected to public office. Othewise, it is just another example of "see no evil, hear no evil."

    • Posted By: StormAZ100 @ 09/07/2008 12:50:53 PM

Palin scares Americans? Oh yeah, I find the thought of her within 1000 miles of the red button horrifying! Much is made of the 37million people who watched her acceptance speech. What I've not heard anyone bring up is how much of that was from curiousity. No one reallly knew anything about Sarah Palin, and like many others I was curious to see what she had to say. Apparently I wasn't the only horrified viewer, considering Obama's campaign took in over $10million in donations within 36 hours of the speech.

And please tell me what's so wrong with asking questions about this woman? The Republicans act like this is a terrible imposition, and everyone is just picking on poor Sarah! Seems to me it's natural to want to know about her. What do Repubs fear about a close examination of her? Everyone else has been subject to it, including McCain, Obama, Biden, Hillary, and even Michelle.

      • Posted By: SEA Observer @ 09/07/2008 1:01:21 PM

Nothing wrong with asking questions! I am just pointing out the blatant hypocrisis that anyone with half a wit of intelligent would see. I do recalled that not so long ago, questions about Obama was not greeted with such open-minded attitude!

        • Posted By: StormAZ100 @ 09/07/2008 1:17:29 PM

I'm willing to bet you didn't have a problem when these questions were brought up about Obama? It's a matter of perspective and whose ox is being gored. Personally I think the news is doing exactly what it should do... in both cases, actually. The media is supposed to keep us informed. And we, as citizens of the US are supposed to read both sides and make an informed decision.

Public officials from the top down are public servants. They owe deference to the general public, especially in the matter of answering questions of our press. If the Mc Cain campaign thinks that the public is voting for people for us to serve, then their lid is screwed on backwards.

  • Posted By: rs50terra @ 09/07/2008 1:19:09 PM

The problem with Sarah Palin (as with McCain) is that their philosophy is not in synch with the world. In order to prosper we must lead the world into the new 'green' economy and not look back with nostalgia to when we conquered the West and made fortunes by drilling in Texas, California, etc.
The last great prosperity wave came when we led the IT and Internet revolution. If we choose to ignore the coming wave we will have to be a second rate power like the UK and France.
Sarah Palin with her beliefs that 'God wants us to build this pipeline', that creationism should be taught in schools as an alternative scientific theory to Darwinism, that abstinence is the only birth control policy is not the person to lead America.

  • Posted By: I read eevrything @ 09/07/2008 1:16:43 PM

The thought of Sarah Palin and "the first dude" (her husband nickname) running the country is scary. It's like giving management of the entire United States military to a 7 year old boy scout. It would be disastorous from the word go.

The republicans offer a 73 year old under achiever and a total newbie from the least populated state on the planet for the their choice as President and Vice President.

I think the republicans have devolved into a single cell organism and don't have 2 brain cells left to communicate with. Otheriwse they would have better offerings for the highest office in the world.

i hope the American people, especially women, are not so easily fooled by this obvious ploy. john mccain is using palin as a pawn to get the women 's vote. to me it is an example of his disdain for the intelligence of the very women he is courting. palin is NOT an alternative to hillary clinton. clinton should be insulted that he feels ANY woman can be offered up to represent us. Not me! and I do live in the real world.

    • Posted By: thinkingoutsidethebox @ 09/07/2008 1:15:39 PM

I agree and obviously Palin is either too stupid to see this or is a sell-out because she does not care that is the only reason McCain chose her! And you are right, does McCain think that since I have ovaries that I am going to vote for someone who has ovaries just like I do??? HE IS CLEARLY OUT OF TOUCH!!
