"McCAIN / PALIN / GOP" HYPOCRISY: THE "WE DON'T KNOW HIM" LIES

After 18-months on the campaign trail, detractors of Senator Obama (mainly GOP constituents), claim they "still don't know Obama" well enough to make an informed decision as to how they should vote. But within 48-hours of Sarah Palin's introduction to the GOP, Obama's critics suddenly knew everything there was to know about Sarah Palin. How is it that the religious-right cannot know (a fellow Christian brother) Obama after he endured 18-months of brutal media scrutiny, but suddenly 'know' Palin within 2-days of popping up on the national stage and without one public interview?

"McCAIN / PALIN / GOP" HYPOCRISY: THE "CHANGE" LIES

Up until last week, McCain's campaign has been on "EXPERIENCE", while Obama's mantra has always been on CHANGE. After watching the DNC performance, McCain 'blinked' and changed his campaign to run on the same mantra as Obama's which is CHANGE. This is after McCain accused Obama of saying anything to win!!

"McCAIN / PALIN / GOP" HYPOCRISY: THE "BRIDGE TO NOWHERE" LIES

Sarah Palin claimed on several occasions that she turned down $350-million of federal government earmarks for the "bridge to nowhere". But what actually happened is Sarah campaigned to get the money for the "bridge to nowhere", then flip-flopped after McCain voted the bridge down when she won the Governor's office. Ironically, Alaska still got the 'bridge to nowhere' funds but it was used instead to build a "highway to nowhere".

"McCAIN / PALIN / GOP" HYPOCRISY: THE "PLANE SALE ON EBAY" LIES

Sarah Palin insinuated she sold state plane on EBay for a profit, and more recently McCain repeated it as a fact that the plane was actually sold on EBay for a profit. That lie has now been debunked, and the good Christian Sarah Palin has no shame that she was caught in another lie. The plane could not sell on EBay so it was taken down and sold "privately for a lost".

    Memo to Governor Palin:

Jesus Christ was a community organizer: Pontius Pilate was a governor.

(I got the quote from the Mike Malloy show, Air America, Thursday, September 4

    • Posted By: anon_64 @ 09/06/2008 10:45:47 PM

That's pretty good. But If you're comparing Palin to Pilate, does that mean you consider Obama the Messiah?

    • Posted By: elouis @ 09/06/2008 9:03:30 PM

To your comment (where you quote the Mike Malloy show, Air America, Thursday, September 4)) let me raise this question:

Jesus Christ lives, but where is Pilate?

I'm not an evangelical, I'm just an ordinary Christian interested in the truth!

"McCAIN / PALIN / GOP" HYPOCRISY: THE "ABSTINENCE-ONLY" LIES

Sarah Palin as an Ultra Extreme Religious-Right advocate uses her State office bully-pulpit to knock down public school s@x-education, while plugging her "abstinence-only" religious views to public schools. Ironically, her 17-year old daughter Bristol fails to practice the "abstinence before marriage" views her mother is trying to push in Alaska schools. Then Sarah tries to hide it with another lie by telling the school where Bristol attends that her daughter must drop out because she has Mono. Sarah continued to hold fast to the Mono lie until rumors break loose just after her VP announcement. It was only then the "abstinence-only" hypocrite came clean.

"A devoted father, ______ is now running for national office, exposing his young family to the warping effects of international scrutiny. "

Please ask your staff of reporters and fact-checkers to review all Newsweek articles on the presidential campaing, dating from 3/07 through 8/08, for sentences like the one in quotes above. Please publish those sentences, along with the name of the candidate being described. If Newsweek finds no such sentences like the one above, please publish an explanation why a sentence of that kind first appeard in an article about Sarah Palin, after 18 months of campaigning by some 12 to 15 other candidates in the presidential campaign.

People were questioning John Edwards about running for national office when his wife was ill.

Joe Biden was questioned about running for the senate after his wife and daughter were killed and he two sons he had to raise.

The main issue with Palin is not about being able to juggle her kids and job, or her experience. The real concern is that she has been involved in many issues that indicate a lack of judgement and a level of vindictiveness that is not what is needed as a Vice President. Unless you want another Dick Cheney.

She has proven to be a liar when she claims she was against the bridge to nowhere. It's a fact that she was for it until it started to receive negative publicity. She got the money anyway and kept it.

She's hired a lobbyist firm (owned by the son of Senator Ted Stevens of all people) and has requested tremendous federal funding (earmarks) with the help of that lobbyist. Reformer? What exactly has she reformed? So she beat out the incumbant Governor, that does not mean she's any better than he was. I've yet to hear exactly what reforming she's done. Oh, and she went to five different colleges before earning her degree - who does that and why?

On the other hand, Obama is steady and calm under pressure. He's extremely intelligent and God knows we could use a president with a strong and keen intellect. He values our constitution, he has run an incredibly organized campaign, he has pulled together the great diversity of this nation and encouraged us to look past racism and bigotry.

McCain has run a very disorganized campaign and has had to shuffle his people and replace campaign managers on more than one occasion. That does not bode well for the job of president.

Obama has proven that he can inspire people to work hard and stay committed to their goals. He looks to help people, he listens to the ideas and concerns of his supporters and he responds to those concerns. He has shown better judgement than McCain by being against the Iraq war. Forget about the surge issue, with the Anbar awakening and our government paying the insurgents not to shoot at our soldiers, it was a given the surge would appear successful.

How can anyone look at McCain and Palin and see anything but more of the same old Bush/Cheney dynamic? The Republicans (McCain included) created the mess we are in. The GOP had total control of the the White House and Congress for more than 6 years. How does one even believe that the people who made this mess are going to get us out of it by using the same old practices?

McCain says he's going to put a stop to earmarks. It's just an empty promise. His campaign in still full of lobbyists that are on temporary leave from their day jobs. ENOUGH!

It makes absolutely no sense to think the GOP is going to change. Bush said the same thing in 2000 and look where we are. Think about it.

OBAMA SAYS: John McCain and Sarah Palin Must Think The American People Are Stupid!!!

Speaking to 800 people at the Wabash Valley Fairgrounds in Terre Haute, Ind., the Democratic presidential nominee ridiculed John McCain and his running mate, the Alaska governor, for describing themselves as agents of change at this week's GOP convention!

"Don't be fooled," Obama told the crowd surrounding him in a large barn. "John McCain's party, with the help of John McCain, has been in charge" for nearly eight years.

"I know the governor of Alaska has been saying she's change, and that's great," Obama said. "She's a skillful politician. But, you know, when you've been taking all these earmarks when it's convenient, and then suddenly you're the champion anti-earmark person, that's not change. Come on! I mean, words mean something, you can't just make stuff up."

McCain has vowed to wipe out earmarks, which are targeted funding for specific projects that lawmakers put into spending bills. As governor, Palin originally supported earmarks for a controversial Alaska project dubbed the "bridge to nowhere." But she dropped her support after the state's likely share of the cost rose. She hung onto $27 million to build the approach road to the bridge.

Obama will bitterly cling too the discrimination campaigns against Americans in which he insists Americans are stupid if you own a gun, go to christian church, are in the Armed Forces, a law enforcement professional or an achiever.
It's a discrimination campaign he didn't invent but adopted and studied, only.
Words mean something but bombs are better if made by Bill Ayers who wanted the violence in all the wars around the world to erupt on americas' streets. Actions speak pretty loudly ,too!
Obama is counting on a certain number of Americans being stupid! That's how he hopes to win!
      (Bet he don't!).

      • Posted By: McCainCursingYouTube @ 09/06/2008 10:08:30 PM

Obama was at a dinner in San Francisco with a lot of wealthy Democrats and one asked why are people in small towns not voting for you. His explanation was that people are voting against there financial best interest and voting for other things such as clinging to guns, religion, ect.. He was never calling anyone stupid. It was just an attempt to explain why someone would not vote for what is best for them and their family.

        • Posted By: anon_64 @ 09/06/2008 10:34:47 PM

You're right, he didn't call them stupid. He called them bitter.

His supporters, though, don't seem to mind calling anyone who thinks or believe differently stupid, just like many of McCain's don't mind slinging insults of their own.

It's ridiculous to expect our representatives to work together if the American people themselves are this partisan, condescending, and intolerant.

        • Posted By: xeyeldinTX @ 09/06/2008 10:34:33 PM

To take it further, he said that when so much has been taken from them people tend to cling to guns and religion. As in holding on to those things that they still have control over. I have never been able to understand how this is offensive. You know what I do hold onto my faith when so much in this world makes so little sense.

      • Posted By: McCainCursingYouTube @ 09/06/2008 10:10:06 PM

Dick Cheney did suggest that the people in West Virginia were stupid. I am sure that is ok for you.

I'm from Kansas. We have a lot of towns here about the same size as Wasslia. Being a mayor in one to these towns is not a full-time position. It's a part-time position with very little drama or intrigue. Usually the decisions of a mayor of town this size revolve around buying a new police cruiser or a piece of equipment, maybe trying to get a federal grant for some project. That's about it. What in the hell is up with that town in Alaska. There's drama about book bans, culture war politics, massive ear marks and staff firing dramas. Come on people. That's crazy! What are people thinking? With McCain's age and health issues, she could very well be our president. Jeesh. Has our political system and our government become this much of a joke?

    • Posted By: thehappyamerican @ 09/06/2008 10:26:56 PM

Yes...i t has. Northwest Politics is strange. it's like every centimeter of kooky liberal ideas from New York city to san Francicsco are tryed in the Pacific northwest as pilot projects first, to create wedge issues!
Here, a total loser and thief can climb onto a building and say he worships trees and all the news cameras and print reporters come to hear the yokuls ideas!
Seattle even banned small beach fires TO_STOP_ GLOBAL_WARMING.
Yup... it's crazy. it's also largely news media driven.

    • Posted By: Moozle @ 09/06/2008 10:24:13 PM

In addition, Palin had a City Manager. She did not even do the day to day business - like getting that police cruiser.

JOHN MCCAIN AND HIS EXECUTIVE EXPERIENCE AS A COMMANDER . . .A LEADER . . .IN THE U.S. NAVY:

In the Spring of 1975 John S. McCain was given an opportunity to redeem his Navy career. He was first named the 2nd in Command and then on to Commanding Officer (CO)of the Navys largest Air Squadron, a massive Unit at Cecil Field in Jacksonville FLA. At Cecil Field, they trained pilots and maintained attack jets called A7s. This was McCains first measured entry into leadership.

    http://link.brightcove.com/services/link/bcpid1185143625/bctid1761979374

McCain was revered by many on the base: Testimonials

Carl M. Smith - fellow officer, Cecil Field:

John was a commander who did not attempt to tell people how to do jobs (no micro-management) . . . instead he picked PEOPLE HE HAD CONFIDENCE IN and INSPIRED them to rise to the highest level of their own ability.

Sharleen Hollenback, Navy enlistee under McCain:

    * He was a very ACCESSIBLE person
    * He was very KIND
    * He CARED ABOUT THE PEOPLE that worked in his Squadron
    * I very much ADMIRED him and felt like was part of something very important in that squadron.

Carl M. Smith - fellow officer, Cecil Field:

John would talk to the Sr. chief and KID him, given him a hard time, saying things like ???what about your behavior chief?, what about your drinking?, huh, huh, huh???? . . .which would rock them back on their heels while the rest of the crew and shop WATCHED IN FASCINATION at how McCain was interacting with their chief petty officer.

That was part of his unorthodox HANDS-ON STYLE. John was not one to cloister himself away in his office on the 2nd floor of the Squadrons airplane hanger.

Carl M. Smith - fellow officer, Cecil Field:

Instead, on a DAILY basis he would WALK THROUGH the maintenance spaces, all the functional shops on THE BASE. He would go though the engine shop, the hydraulic shop, the fuel shop, the weapons shop - every one of them. He would GO IN AND TALK TO ALL the folks in the shops.

Jim Lichtenwalter - fellow office, Cecil Field:

I just think that he did a great job of making himself understand what other peoples jobs were and what their responsibilities were. . .

In its heyday in the Vietnam era, Cecil Field was buzzing with THOUSANDS OF NAVY OFFICERS ENLISTEES, AND THEIR FAMILIES.

    J. B. Renninger, former Navy Pilot at Cecil Field:

You would have anywhere from 10 - 12 aircrafts in a pattern at any one time, doing touch and go???s
We would operate from 7am one morning thru 2am or 3 am into the NEXT morning. It was a very ACTIVE BASE then.

Cecil Field was John McCains last posting with the Naval Squadron, but one that would CARRY RELEVANCE today as HE LOOKS TO LEAD OUR COUNTRY.

So far my impression is that Sarah Palin is a liar. She is lying about the Bridge to Nowhere as is commonly explained in every web site news source I have seen.

There are plenty of heroic mothers who have gone through severe hardship and juggling more than blackberries, hockey, fishing and hunting to bring up their children and done an exemplary job; but none of them are fit to be VP and God forbid president of this great country. For all her claims of being righteous and ultra conservative and values based she could not bring up her own family and now has made what conservatives repudiate "pre-marital sex" a normal thing in the American family, this is deplorable and by bringing the unmarried couple to the stage it celebrates teen misbehavior. So is the Palin immorality the standard for teen morality? Is this what will become of this country? Preach purity and modesty Victorian style but live a life of hypocrisy?

    • Posted By: loriw @ 09/06/2008 9:30:42 PM

Exaclty what qualifies you to determing that "none of them are fit to be VP" are you a one of the two current Presidential candidates? Have you ever been a Presidential candidate? Then you are no judge.
You too must have been a teen who took every word of your parents to heart and never, ever did anything other than what they told you to do. Right.
Did you vote for Clinton....the President that taught kids Bristols age that oral sex is not sexual relations?
That if you get caught just LIE LIE LIE and LIE some more. And he was a grown man AND a lawyer.
      There's REAL hypocrisy for you!

Remember what Sarah said in her speech about being a mayor that left her town with a surplus? SARAH LIED! More truths are coming out.

The biggest project that Sarah Palin undertook as mayor of this small town was an indoor sports complex, where locals played hockey, soccer, and basketball, especially during the long, dark Alaskan winters.

The only catch was that the city began building roads and installing utilities for the project before it had unchallenged title to the land. The misstep led to years of litigation and at least $1.3 million in extra costs for a small municipality with a small budget. What was to be Ms. Palin's legacy has turned into a financial mess that continues to plague Wasilla.

"It's too bad that the city of Wasilla didn't do their homework and secure the land before they began construction," said Kathy Wells, a longtime activist here. "She was not your ceremonial mayor; she was in charge of running the city. So it was her job to make sure things were done correctly."

"If people are going to be voting on her based on her experience as Wasilla's mayor, then they should know how she did in the job,"
