There are plenty of heroic mothers who have gone through severe hardship and juggling more than blackberries, hockey, fishing and hunting to bring up their children and done an exemplary job; but none of them are fit to be VP and God forbid president of this great country. For all her claims of being righteous and ultra conservative and values based she could not bring up her own family and now has made what conservatives repudiate "pre-marital sex" a normal thing in the American family, this is deplorable and by bringing the unmarried couple to the stage it celebrates teen misbehavior. So is the Palin immorality the standard for teen morality? Is this what will become of this country? Preach purity and modesty Victorian style but live a life of hypocrisy?

She appears to be Georgia Bush. Shallow, narrow of mind and fundamentally evangelically driven to do God's work with whatever tools she has at hand, whether you like it or not. She can shrink our government some more and give the tax money to some more faith based projects. With her Karla Rove, she can't lose. And, of course, we can. Big.

This is a well written article and it brings a lot into focus given all the rumors that have been flying around. As for me and most of the people that I know, it doesn't matter what Palin's personal life is like. We just want her to stay out of our personal lives. No proseletizing; no interference with a woman's right to choose; no introduction of abstinence only programs in our schools when teen pregnancy is at a high in 2007; no denying that our planet is on a fast road to making it difficult for all of us to life on it. Her policies are bad for this country. In every area, we are struggling: social, international, financial, educational. There is no time for someone who has to be tutored on critical issues to be ready to be vice-president. This isn't personal. The republicans will get another chance but in the meantime we must vote for OBAMA/BIDEN so that we can get our country back on track. Then whoever runs on the Republican ticket can go on to getting us back to where we are: high unemployment, high deficit, broken international image.

IN ADDITION TO THE TWO SCANDALS SARAH PALIN IS CURRENTLY INVOLVED IN - THE OTHER SHOE MAY DROP ON PALIN THIS WEEK!!!!

"The National Enquirer's coverage of a vicious war within Sarah Palin's extended family includes several newsworthy revelations, including the resulting incredible charge of an affair plus details of family strife when the Governor's daughter revealed her pregnancy. Following our John Edwards' exclusives, our political reporting has obviously proven to be more detail-oriented than the McCain campaign's vetting process. Despite the McCain camp's attempts to control press coverage they find unfavorable, The Enquirer will continue to pursue news on both sides of the political spectrum."

The picture of Sarah Palin draped in the flage reminds me of a famous quote by Samuel Johnson:
"Patriotism is the last refuge of a soundrel."

Palin's opening address which contained so many lies, that Fact Check org produced 5 pages of examples, reminds me of the famous quote by Joseph Goebbels:
"If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it."

Palin and McCain is right - change is on its way. They will implement all of Bush's most disastrous policies - and eveyrthing will be worse - MUCH WORSE.

PS VerdeValley thank you for saying what I wanted to say.

Pullease...... McCain's AZ ranch is NOT in Sedona. not even near the city limits. His ranch is in Page Springs, outside of the community of Cornville. Sedona is near, but the ranch is not in Sedona, and any mailed addressed such will definitely be returned as "no such person"

We have always Respected and Honored McCain's service to this country. But we know who is spinning the message Schmidt and Rove known as the guys that brought us two George W. Bush terms and now they want to sell us a third Bush term.

McCain called for an end to the???constant partisan rancor???. Yet his campaign ads have attacked American Artists by attempting to brand them as just celebrities. Barack Obama is like Ronald Reagan when it comes to support of the Talented Artists of their time. Obama's message rings of a ???Beautiful day coming to America??? which is similar to Reagan's "Its morning in america again".

McCain's campaign has gone after the media who are asking the important questions that help keep the voters informed about the contrasts between the Democrat and Republican Parties in the most important election of our times.

After watching this Republican convention the first impression was the Republicans rallied their base by attacking Obama/Biden instead of presenting a clear case for voting for McCain. What about their solutions for the issues voters care about? A missed opportunity for the Republicans. Follow up impression common sense now says that its Obama/Biden who can end the ???constant partisan rancor??? in Washington DC.

When McCain says the last weeks of this campaign will be hard fought, nothing personally, just the nature of the business we know what McCain, Schmidt and Rove are saying ??? more negative attacks, more slash and burn tactics. When McCain says ???Change is coming,??? to Washington DC ??? The voters look at the Schmidt, Rove and Fox News attacking and we know what is coming ??? A Pit Bull? Avoid The Pit Bull with Lip Stick when The Pit Bull attacks. Who says we must fight on their turf? Let them come to ours. This race is still Obama/Biden vs McCain/Bush.

Palin (Ms. Popsicle Stick) and McCain are going around this country now parading themselves just like a couple of airhead celebrities while America burns.....lol.....
    What a Joke!.....
Hint: Even celebrities know how many houses they own. Celebrities need "coaching".

Hmmm let me see - a person is in front of me that I don't know, she is reading from a script written by Bush's speech writer, I was introduced to her less than 2 weeks ago, what I have seen is a very divisive and mean-spirited - albeit strong and attractive woman. I guess...yes...that's enough for me to turn over the MOST IMPORTANT LEADERSHIP POSITION OF THE ENTIRE PLANET!!!!!!!!!! Let's talk about flags some more!

Aside from her vindictiveness and corruption in her short political career, one of the most frightening things about Palin is her narcissistic identification of her own agendas with the will of God. This does not seem to leave much room for negotiation, or even for the self-criticism and reflection that a mature person should be able to engage in.

    • Posted By: thehappyamerican @ 09/06/2008 6:45:28 PM

The DNC's Americans Suck First campaign contains several discrimination campaigns.
These are against law enforcement profesionals, militaery experts, achievers, firearms owners and Christians.
This example is against Christians/Christianity... and this whale song of the liberals for mutual identification is not seen as bigotry! But as "open minded."
The only dispute Hillary had with Obama came down to who would lead this Americans Suck First campaign threw the campaign season ( then from the Oval Office, as bill Clinton did!).

A very baseless, disjointed, and incoherent diatribe, but nice try.

Palin's selection solidified the 15% religious far-right of the GOP, but at the cost of losing the 30% undecided and independent voting group in the middle. Her positions on global warming and the environment, health care, sex education, separation of church and state, and abortion are so extremist that she has actually energized the Democratic party and convinced most moderates and independents that McCain does not represent their interests.

Obama has been scrutinized for almost 2 years, and his critics complain that they still don't know enough about him. Palin has been scrutinized for 2 weeks, and the McCain camp tells us that we know everything we need to know about her and to back off.??????I don't think so. It is our right and duty to carefully examine the background, qualifications, and policies of those who wish be be our national leaders. Palin should not be exempt from the process simply because she is female.

During yesterday's visit to Wisconsin, McCain could have presented a cardboard cutout of Palin with a voice recording of her scripted talking points, and they would have gotten the same crowd response.

So far, Palin has been incapable of speaking spontaneously, relying on and directly reading from written notes every time she speaks. She is avoiding all interviews with the press, and no doubt, in the future will only permit interviews in which the questions have been screened in advance (e.g., FoxNews). Yet according to McCain, she is ready to step in as President on day one. And they call Obama a celebrity.....

THERE IS STILL GREAT CONCERN ABOUT SARAH PALIN! Nobody knows her - and how can we possibly make an informed choice to vote if she continues to be a COWARD and not speak to reporters for sit down interviews?

Alaska's Republican State Senate President: Palin Not Prepared, Thought Pick Was A Joke. "State Senate President Lyda Green said she thought it was a joke when someone called her at 6 a.m. to give her the news. 'She's not prepared to be governor. How can she be prepared to be vice president or president?' said Green, a Republican from Palin's hometown of Wasilla. 'Look at what she's done to this state. What would she do to the nation?'" [Anchorage Daily News, 8/29/08]

Alaska's Republican House Speaker Has Nothing Positive To Say About Palin's Qualifications. "State House Speaker John Harris, a Republican from Valdez, was astonished at the news. He didn't want to get into the issue of her qualifications. 'She's old enough,' Harris said. 'She's a U.S. citizen.'" [Anchorage Daily News, 8/29/08]

Conservative Rick Rydell: Questionable Vetting. "Conservative host Rick Rydell said there are some benefits to the state, but it's a gamble for McCain to pick an unknown with what he considered 'questionable vetting.' 'It seems almost like a Hail Mary pass at the end of a football game,' Rydell said in an interview after his show Friday. Rydell said McCain has destroyed his argument about Barack Obama's lack of experience." [Anchorage Daily News, 8/29/08]

St. Louis Republican Delegate Deeply Concerned With Palin Selection. "Several Republican delegates said they too were shocked by the selection of Ms. Palin and, while they wished her well, were deeply concerned that she did not have the experience in foreign policy or national security to be commander in chief. 'We've been told for the last few months that experience is what matters most in the next White House,' said John Scates, a delegate from St. Louis. 'But McCain is picking someone whose experience is little to nothing or, at best, unknown.'" [New York Times, 8/31/08]

Conservative Columnist: Palin Pick Near Suicidal. "'The Palin selection completely undercuts the argument about Obama's inexperience and readiness to lead' wrote syndicated conservative columnist Charles Krauthammer. 'To gratuitously undercut the remarkably successful 'Is he ready to lead' line of attack seems near suicidal.'" [Ottawa Citizen, 8/31/08]

WHAT IS SHE AND MCBUSH HIDING!!!

Comment: Question for McCain: "Mr. McCain, the argument of your campaign is that the McCain-Palin ticket should be elected because it has more executive experience than the Obama-Biden ticket. But you have no executive experience, while Sarah Palin does. So what executive role will Sarah Palin play in your administration? Will she be in charge of energy policy? Of social policy with regard to abortion and gay rights? Of foreign policy?"

And if McCain suggests that he will put Palin in charge of a task force or a study group, the follow-up must be: "But that's just writing a report. Your campaign is pinning the argument for your election on the executive advantage that Sarah Palin brings to the ticket. So, again, what job will this essential executive have in your administration?"

Make McCain DECLARE what Palin's SPECIFIC role as Veep will be...and then see where she stands on that issue or policy.

Energy?...and then bring up how she cancelled wind farm projects.

Social policy?...and then point out her exteme views on abortion or on creationism or ...even better..."abstinence-only sex education"?

    Foreign policy?....

    uh...

Earmarks?....and then ask which "Bridge to Nowhere" she opposed...and which she supported?

Garbage collection and parks and playgrounds?....sure. That'll work, that's the kind of executive experience she had as Mayor of Wasilla.

SARAH PALIN IS A COWARD AND SMOKESCREEN/DISTRACTION FOR THE REPUBLICAN PARTY TO TALK ABOUT ANY ISSUES!!! Why is she refusing to speak with the press - only give word interviews in Magazines? How will voters determine her character? All we know of her so far is how smug, snarky, damn good liar, and how shrill she can be!

McCain delivered a stiff slap to the face of every moderate Republican by choosing Palin as his running mate. His promises to change Washington do nothing to remove the sting from that slap. The fatuous religious right has taken over the GOP. I have decided to re register as an Independent. This cynical trickery was the last straw for me.

  • Posted By: jaf1131 @ 09/06/2008 6:47:13 PM

It is very concerning that the McCain camp is keeping her away from reporters and questioning. We as American's have a right to know more about someone who may be one heartbeat away from the Presidency. As for her executive experience, look at Bush who had more executive experience than most of our past presidents and who has been a complete failure. We need a President and Vice President who understand what the Constitution means and why the three branches of government are so important to our Democracy. It is clear that the Republican's don't care about any of that as they continue to promote candidates with no real legal education or experience. Palin is a dangerous woman.

Sorry, I forgot to add below that Vogler is the founder of the Alaska Independence Party, for clarification.

  • Posted By: MAZees @ 09/06/2008 6:15:46 PM

"I'm an Alaskan, not an American," Vogler is quoted as saying elsewhere on the party???s website. "I've got no use for America or her damned institutions."
Quote from LA Times regarding the Alaska Independence Party website. This is the party that Todd Palin belonged to for 7 years. This is the party Palin addressed just this year, saying "Keep up the good work."

Her anti-choice views including in the case of rape, and comments that the Iraq War plan is "God's will", are equally extreme. She is more extreme than the current failed administration.

For some perspective, this is like Obama choosing Nader as his running mate.

And just when the Republicans were showing some signs of coming out from under the Bible belt extremists.
