Comment: Palin brought on victory herself when she laid claim to "18 million supporters" whom were betrayed by Obama! Women. everywhere said. It is not about Palin; it???s about Hillary! How could Obama care less, about women sure he knows that if he picked Hillary he would be winning right now! But he picked biden who said that Hillary would have been a better pick! But because Obama is a sexist fool who can???t come to terms with having a woman on the ticket even if it costs him the election! Too bad we as women of this great country will stand behind Palin for support of women all across this land!

Karl Rove's Electoral Map Favors Obama as Discussed on Fox news Sunday Morning (260)

    Polls can't Help McCain's Old Semi-Senile A!! Out Now !!!
    -------------------------

Looking at Karl Rove's electoral map which was done by polling in all the states, Obama currently has (260 Electoral Votes) based on states that are solidly in the democratic column. You need 270 to be president.

The biggest changes since 2004 so far is that Obama now leads by double digits in two states that Bush won solidly in 2004. Those two states are New Mexico and Iowa which combined is an additional 12 points for the democrats and minus 12 for the republicans. Obama only needs 10 electorial votes out of the remaing 7 battle ground states which combined is 57 electoral votes.

looking at the electoral map, I would put most of my resources in Ohio, Virginia and Colorado if I were Obama. I say Colorado because if Obama some how lost both Ohio and Virginia, Colorado combined with any one of the remaining states would put Obama over 270. We all know Nevada is leaning democratic so Colorado and Nevada would do it. Colorado has to be in that state "combination mix" if Obama loses Ohio and Virginia because Colorado has 9 electoral votes. (just looking at the worst case scenario) If Obama wins either Ohio or Virginia, it would put Obama over 270. There are other combinations of Obama winning but it would require him to win alot more states which may be difficult to do. But because of Obama picked up Iowa and New Mexico, it has allowed him to be able to win the presidency without Ohio and Florida.

Keep in mind in most polls Virginia is tied. The state hasnt been this close in turning blue since the 1960s. Its a state in which the black vote could put Obama over the top in Virginia which would then give Obama the presidency.

with less than two month til the election we can now get a clearer sense who is likely to win. I tell people dont focus so much on national polls. Both the campaigns are focusing on the electoral map and where they are up in each state. The map favors Obama which is why McCain made such a bold move by picking Sarah Palin to energize the republican base. But I think its too little to late. Obama has a strong foundation laid in these battleground states and he has a good chance in taking Ohio. John Kerry loss Ohio in 2004 by 200,000 votes. If John Kerry had won Ohio, hed be president now. The Obama campaign has registered almost a million new voters in Ohio while republican voter registration has declined in the state. Do the math. Kerry lost by 200,000 votes and Obama has gain almost a million voters through a kind of aggressive voter registration campaign which won him his seat in the US Senate. But even though Colorado, Nevada and North Dakota are toss up states in the margin of error, all three are slightly leaning towards Obama. So this is a good sign for the Obama campaign.

OK ladies and gentlemen. Who will it be?. McCain or Obama? An American President or a Citizen of the World? A capitalist or a socialist? A war hero or a zero? A man who will put country first or a man who will put interest group first? What will it be? Less taxes or more taxes? Less government or more government? More individual responsibility or more government dependence? More freedom or more
political correctness? Who will it be? A son of Franklin, Washington, and Hamilton or a son of Marx, Sartre, Marcuse, Malcolm X, Carmichael, and Fanon? What will it be? Who will it be?

Jose, I cant figure you out . My guess is that you are not voting for either of the two main candidates so you go back and forth stirring up the pot on both sides. But I have to agree. . . that the comparison you made in your post says it like it is.

Reports suggest the magazine has been inundated by requests from angry readers demanding their subscriptions be canceled after the cover of its September 2 issue read, "Sarah Palin ??? Republican presidential nominee John McCain and his running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, equated lawmakers' requests for funding for special projects with corruption on Wednesday even though Palin herself has requested nearly $200 million in so-called "earmarks" this year.

Campaigning in Virginia, McCain suggested Earmarks are particularly shameful at a time when families are struggling with rising food, gas and home mortgage costs.

He vowed again to veto any bill that contains such funding.

"I got an old ink pen, my friends, and the first pork barrel-laden earmark, big-spending bill that comes across my desk, I will veto it.

    You will know their names....

I will make them famous and we'll stop this corruption," McCain said during a rally at a park in suburban Washington, D.C.

Palin has sought [$197 Million Worth of Earmarks for 2009], down about 25 percent from the [$256 million she sought in the 2008 budget year].

As mayor of tiny Wasilla, Alaska, she hired a lobbyist to seek federal money for special projects. Wasilla obtained [14 earmarks, totaling $27 million], between 2000-2003, according to Taxpayers for Common Sense.

Wasilla. Alaskans regard themselves as a breed apart???more rugged, self-reliant and free than other Americans. Palin shares that sense of exceptionalism. But the myth is contradicted by some inconvenient facts. Only 1 percent of the state's land is in private hands, and the economy is dependent on oil and other natural resources controlled by the federal government or Big Oil.

As a result, nearly 50 years after statehood, Alaska remains deeply dependent on the federal government for support. Social ills are rampant. The state's levels of drug abuse, alcoholism, domestic violence and child abuse are above average or among the highest in the country.

To the extent Palin has a governing philosophy, it was shaped by her political mentor, former governor Wally Hickel. The 89-year-old Hickel is a member of the Alaska Independence Party, which espouses, among other things, greater autonomy or even separation from the United States.

(Husband Todd Palin is not a member of the party now, but he was registered as an AIP voter at different periods of his life totaling seven years. Sarah has never been a member but attended a party conference in her hometown of Wasilla.) Hickel advocates an "economy of the commons," which would place the state's vast energy and mineral wealth in the hands of the state government and its citizens. In that vein, Palin this year ordered a one-time $1,200 energy refund distributed to each Alaska resident. (The revenues came from recalculating the tax on oil producers.)

Palin has continued to repeat the already exposed lie that she said "No, thanks" to the famous "bridge to nowhere" (McCain's favorite example of wasteful federal spending).

In fact, she said "Yes, please" until the project became a symbol and political albatross.

    Back to reality.

Of the 50 states, Alaska ranks No. 1 in taxes per resident and No. 1 in spending per resident. Its tax burden per resident is 2 1/2 times the national average; its spending, more than double. The trick is that Alaska's government spends money on its own citizens and taxes the rest of us to pay for it. Although Palin, like McCain, talks about liberating ourselves from dependence on foreign oil, there is no evidence that being dependent on Alaskan oil would be any more pleasant to the pocketbook.

Alaska is, in essence, an adjunct member of OPEC. It has four different taxes on oil, which produce more than 89% of the state's unrestricted revenue. On average, three-quarters of the value of a barrel of oil is taken by the state government before that oil is permitted to leave the state. Alaska residents each get a yearly check for about $2,000 from oil revenues, plus an additional $1,200 pushed through by Palin last year to take advantage of rising oil prices. Any sympathy the governor of Alaska expresses for folks in the lower 48 who are suffering from high gas prices or can't afford to heat their homes is strictly crocodile tears.

As if it couldn't support itself, Alaska also ranks No. 1, year after year, in money it sucks in from Washington. In 2005 (the most recent figures), according to the Tax Foundation, Alaska ranked 18th in federal taxes paid per resident ($5,434) but first in federal spending received per resident ($13,950). Its ratio of federal spending received to federal taxes paid ranks third among the 50 states, and in the absolute amount it receives from Washington over and above the amount it sends to Washington, Alaska ranks No. 1.

Sure, Palin is pro-life, even in the case of rape, and opposes same-sex marriage and favors the discussion of creationism alongside evolution in schools. But she hasn't pushed for legislative changes in any of those areas.

The Associated Press reported Sept 3: "Palin's children attend public schools and Palin has made no push to have creationism taught in them. ... It reflects a hands-off attitude toward mixing government and religion by most Alaskans."

She even vetoed a bill that would have denied benefits to employees in same-sex relationships because she said it was unconstitutional.

That says plenty. It shows she knows the limits of government, and believes that government isn't there to tell us what to do.

Obama seems more inclined to use government to control what choices we have than Palin does. Have you seen HR 800? The democrats are trying to eliminate the secret ballot in union elections. That will mean another hand in the worker's pocket (for dues, which have to be paid before the worker can even get the job), and less opportunity to advance on the merits when you do have a job.

I bet all those small businesses our economy is so dependent on will be so happy to know that the democrats want to unionize every business in the country. That will definitely make their products and services more competitive with foreign competition.

Who, the baby didn't rape anyone, and it is as clean and pure as any other child. The fact that someone would commit a rape does not mean that a child resulting from it will grow up with those same problems. It depends on how the child is raised. Rape, i'm sure is a very frighting and traumatic experience, and I hate that anyone ever has to go through that, but two wrongs don't make a right. Having said that, I think we both know that people will still have abortions regardless if its illegal ir not, its not a new thing. I don't judge anyone's reason, thats God's job, but I do not feel it is right to use abortion as a method of birth control, there are far too many other methods available. And I do not think its ok to use abortion just because its "inconvenient" to be pregnant or to carry a baby to term, there is always adoption. A person should have thought of that before they decided to sweat & pant like animals in heat, with no sense of responsibility. I never understood why a couple are always so shocked to learn a pregnacy has taken place, don't they know where babies come from by the time they are old enough to make them? If one is going to commit fornification, at least have the decency to spare an innocent baby the horror of being aborted by taking a moment to be responsible and use protection!

I am very offended by the cover of the recent issue of Newsweek. If I had children in my home I would have had to tear off the cover page. Palin has a 50-50 chance of becoming VP which could lead to the White House and here she is on the cover of a magazine holding a GUN! This is not the type of role model, a possible leader of the free world, that I want to have for my grand daughters!

    • Posted By: star3 @ 09/11/2008 12:15:48 AM

Ahh, er, excuse me, but have you heard of the constitution, remember, the document our forefathers drew up, which states our rights? Maybe you should re-familarize yourself with it, especially the second amendment. As far as the picture on the cover sending a negatice message, on the contrary, I feel it will send a very honest message---that we have the right to have weapons. When I was a kid, every kid I knew went faithfully to see their favorite cowboy hero fight it out with the bad guys---with guns; we, also, watched war movies, where the military fought our enemy---with guns; we played war games, cowboy games, all sorts of games---using cap pistols, BB guns, homemade guns carved from wood, air rifels, and you know what---not one of us turned to crime, even as adults or even thought about it, or felt the need to have any curiosity at all about guns---because we had been exposed to them all our lives. And today, you fear your child seeing a person with a gun on the cover of a magazine, yet, think nothing of their violent play station games, or the movies they watch today, which are very explicit with sex, vulgarity, and weapons of all kind that mesmerize them from the screen, while showing killings and loud sound effects, then the hero calmly shows how gallant and brave they were by standing proudly over their victims with a satisfied smile. Please explain to me why that does not bother you, while a picture of a woman holding a gun does. The bottom line is, if kids are taught that guns are allowed, but there is a responsiblity that goes with that, and that kids are not to ever touch or play with a real gun, anymore than you would allow them to play with a real knife. When they are old enough, teach them gun safety, keep your weapons locked in a strong box when they are too young to know better than to touch them, and make sure when they are older, that they know they are to never point it at anything they would not shoot intentionaly, that it is to be a securety divice in case of a direct threat to the family, but not to ever be used as a threat or as an amusment to show off. When kids are taught, and are use to having them around, they are not an item of curosity. When I was in school, the most dangerous weapon that a kid was ever caught with was a sling shot at school, and that was taken, and the kid told never to bring one again. Now, its a common occurence for a kid to be caught with a real gun at school, and we all know about the school shootings that made headlines. Why do you think this is? It isn't the possesion of a gun that is the danger, when properly taught safety rules, its the a gun in the hands of someone with a grivence or who is just a sick mind, and that can happen in any place, anytime, in any era. Teach your children correctly, and don't make a big deal out of someone else having a gun, even if you choose not to, and they will respect that.

Thank goodness someone that truely carers about the image that she is sending. I to am very concern with that. I don't find it to be a responsible image for daughters and grand daughters. Yes she is a sports person that is fine. That is not an image for a VP canidate.
