How is Sarah Palin one of us? Is it because she's uneducated? I am a former Republican because the Republican party went from the Grand Old Party to a party that bolsters bigotry, lack of education (see Palin and McCain as examples), and recklessness. Unfortunately because there are so many people who are uninformed, Palin will seem like a viable choice. Therefore, we have to dismantle even the uneducated, trash that the Republican party has set before us. SAD.

Talk about uneducated!!! I guess you have to be to support a man with little experience, NO executive experience, served on a board with a known terrorist and in fact considers him a friend, voted "present" 90% of the time rather then making a decision, and was rated as the most liberal member of Congress. But he can sure give a good speech....I guess that's all that is needed for the uneducated.

Experience comes in many forms. Coupled with intellect and judgement Obama has been demonstrating his ability to lead for nearly two years. If you were so educated yourself, then you should look beyond Guilani's rhetoric, and figure that out for yourself.

        • Posted By: Dencal26 @ 09/07/2008 9:29:58 AM

Guiliani actually took a Dem Run Sewer called New York City and made it a great city once again, Any HONEST Native New Yorker like myself will admit that. Not rhetoric but REAL CHANGE.

What has Obama done? You say he has lead for 2 years? He has run for President for 2 years. His most important Senate vote was the SURGE which he got terribly wrong and had to admit to O'Reilly he was wrong.

Obama has what neither McCain nor Palin have. He has stature, the stature necessary for change.
The terrorist charge is your most laughable Republican issued talking point. Ayers and company sold out to become yuppies in the late seventies. As far as the bogus claim regarding his most liberal status, for those of us on the left, he is not liberal enough. He's practically a Republican.

Given Nancy Pelosi's refusal to allow the DRILL DRILL DRILL vote because she first wanted to invest money in different energy corporations (per MNBC) to further her and her family's richness, its time for the Liberal and Biased Press to say - Enough is Enough. Mt. Obama has failed to call out the corrupt practices in his party which is hurting and damaging each and every hard working family in America.

Palin paraded her pregnant teenage daughter and the impregnator, the boyfriend, around the stage. . The questions about the Downs baby. McCain married Cindy one month after he divorced his first family. Cindy's drug theft charges. What a terrible example for our young people.

These two families in the White House would provide fodder for the tabloids for years to come.

    • Posted By: WindhamDog @ 09/07/2008 6:09:02 PM

Yeah, your right...better have our youth look up to a man with personal ties to a homegrown terrorist, subjects his daughters to the rantings of a racist preacher (the man seems a little slow if it took him 20 years to finally disengage himself from that one), lives in a wonderful home due to his close association with a convicted felon and came out of the crooked Chicago/Cook County Democratic scene.
There stands a man to behold.

She is an easy target. The problem is the Obama campaign is being way too slow to attack. Sarah Palin as mayor of her population 9000 town secured $28 million in FEDERAL PORK BARREL EARMARKS paid for by hardworking families, small business owners, and taxpayers. Meanwhile, John McCain says he will expose the first person to put an earmark in font of his desk. Well, he can start with Sarah Palin.

    • Posted By: Dartay @ 09/07/2008 6:06:30 PM

SCORE! I think Obama and Biden laid low this week because it was the partytime with the RNC. The gloves will come off on Monday. Biden is the SKILLED politician who will put her in her place!

Before the liberal Press starts whining about vetting Palin they better get started vetting Obama. They have had enough time. Give us the info on his Columbia years and realease his transcripts.
And just who do they, the press, think they are any way.? They like to protray themselves as the almighty know it alls that are so brillant.. As it is now they have helped Palin more than hurt her because people don't like bitchy men in the press and we can see right through their P.C. b.s.
    McCain/Palin

    • Posted By: Noblinders @ 09/07/2008 6:05:12 PM

Hey, I hear Sara enrolled in six different schools within a span of six years. I would stack his Columbia years up against her six questionable years anyday. And by the way she took jabs at him for being a community organizer when he first left college, what great service to humanity did she offer after leaving college? Was it beauty queen contestant or sports anchor?

    • Posted By: bill4truth @ 09/07/2008 3:07:23 PM

The Right Wing Press needs to start vetting John McCain. He has received a free-pass too often this year. He is not the man he used to be. In fact, he isn't even the man he pretended to be. How can he call himself a maverick when he voted for Bush 90-95% of the time? How can he claim to be on a "straight talk express" when he says one thing and does the other? His speech sounded real good - he's going to work with the other side. But, for 3 days before - and throughout his campaign, McCain has embraced divisive, nasty, cynical political pandering, slandering, lying, and deception.

  • Posted By: ObjectiveCitizen @ 09/07/2008 5:06:30 PM

GOP enemy No. 1, is the LIBERAL media. You left out the word - liberal ,.You and your magazine are obviously the worst offenders of objective journalism tenets.

  • Posted By: wilsan @ 09/07/2008 5:49:48 PM

Newsweek is in "The Tank" for Obama so much, I doubt they have any credentials for any analysis on this election. If "journalistic professionalism" were money, they would be on welfare.

News'weak' describes this rag much better.

  • Posted By: trazer @ 09/07/2008 5:45:48 PM

There are many very good documentaries on Sarah Palin - one in particular was done on MNBC on her energy plans. Its surprising the Washington Press continues to whine and drink their martinis and has failed to watch one of the best energy pieces in history. Sarah understands energy, the importance it has in the world, and the importance to each and every household budget in America. Media needs to wake up.

  • Posted By: trazer @ 09/07/2008 5:43:59 PM

The Washington Liberal Press is saying Sarah needs to do her homework simply because the media does not do their own homework. All of them missed the big story of the Republican VP - and now - beauuse of that - they are little more than based bloggers who were totally SCOOPED. Let me say - Palin can definitely keep a SECRET and can act and speak with dignity. She is a role model that the media needs to learn from.

  • Posted By: gvillagran3 @ 09/07/2008 5:08:20 PM

Sarah Palin needs a few weeks to study all of McCain's political positions, get down her talking points, get a crash course in Political Science, Foreign relations, Washington politics, and so on....... The very "experienced" Palin will not show herself and fly solo until she get's the go ahead from her teachers, is as simple as that.

So far all she has shown is that she can read the telepromtor much better than Sen. McCain and energize the base of the Republican party much better than Sen. McCain can..... But then again she also did a darn good job energizing the base of the Democratic party ..... And the last thing the Republicans need is the Democratic base even more energized that it allready is.

As for the experience debate...... Frankly after seeing what George W. Bush did with his considerable experience as the Governor of Texas, not to mention Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, Condi Rice, etc, etc...... experience and qualifications .... My concept of what an "experienced" Republican can do has droped to the floor. The very experienced Bush administration called by many "the adult" administration at the start, turned out to be a desater of idiotic ideologs, criminal ineptitude, and corruption ..... And oh yes full of "experiences" too...... Like the experience Katrina, the experience of Rummy messing up the war supported by Bush, the experience of a collapsing economy, the experience of the collapse of the GOP's fiscal responsability ideas, etc, etc.

Yes indeed i have seen a lot of "experience" in the GOP in the last 8 years indeed. In fact I have to conclude that the most important experience a Republican can bring to the table is in an incredible experitise in messing thing up royally .

What good is experience Republicans if your party is governed by a bunch of nut jobs from the Right??? You know like your idol Palin?

Care to talk about her views instead of her so called experience?

Good grief! The dumbing down of America seems to have worked. I'm reading about wedge issues, and personalities, not tax relief for the middle class,an end to the war in Iraq, dependency on oil, energy alternatives, trade deficits, what to do about the national debt, rising unemployment, gas and food prices skyrocketing; yet we heard nothing from the republican ticket on any of the above. Isn't anyone curious about
    the Republican stand on ANYTHING
I suppose the public will once again vote against their own economic interests. Wake up and take a look at the last 8 years. Do you really want 4 more years of lies and the fleecing of America?

I think we haven???t been attacked by terrorists since 9/11 because terrorists feel the U.S. public had been lied and scared into the illegal war on Iraq.

If McCain is elected, these fanatics will think that the American people, not only our leaders, supported this war. I???m afraid they would retaliate.

Since only a small percentage of products imported into the U.S. is inspected, chemical and biological materials could easily get in and, in my view, there???s little or nothing we can do about it.

This presidential election is like no other one in history. Sarah Palin will indeed be an elusive target to the Democrats. They have to be careful how they treat her, so that the hockey moms don't get up in arms over her. If they treat her with civility, the feminists and the leftist crowd will holler. If they treat her rudely the right will object. She is indeed an elusive target. But being an avid hunter she knows how target her prey herself.

  • Posted By: ziaiolanda @ 09/07/2008 4:26:33 PM

Yes, an elusive target indeed. However, can she be saved from herself and the excess baggage she left back at Alaska? Or will there be a hail mary pass from the Republican's,...OH....pardon me, Reformed Republican's similar to the Plame solution? And you know where that got us!

Comment: Can someone please explain to me why Cidney McCain's outfit at the convention was $300,000 dollars. Her outfit alone with the 5 to 7 house that they own could have saved at least 7 families from having to forfeit on their mortgage loan.

Cindy McCain's father came home from WW2 and started a business which was successful , Since his death, Cindy has managed the business well and is wealthy. She provides good jobs for a large group ot people and has provided health insurance for more people than Hillary and Barack combined. She has been generous with her family and some of the homes are occupied by her mother and other family members. She has been generous in other ways founding an organization to provide medical care for poor Africans providing both money and time. Her daughter was dying in a facility run by Mother Theresa. She brouught the baby back to the US for medical care. She personally cared for the baby and held her during the flight. She bonded with the child and adopted her.

In spite of all the scutiny because of John's political life, there has never been any hint of scandal about her conduct of her business affairs or her property acquisitions unlike Barack Obama's involvement with convicted felon Tony Rezco from whom he received help in buying his home and to whom he directed millions of dollars of public funds and other political favors.

John and Cindy jointly own and occupy one home, their ranch. If Cindy's property holding are to be an issue then the same standard should be applied to the Kennedys, the Clintons, John Kerry.

Cindy McCain has earned the right to buy a nice gown for the most important night in her like. It was bought with her money unlike the millions spent on Temple Obama which was built with taxpayer funds.

"cannot" Is both a hypocrite and envious, character traits prevalent on the left.

I agree with you 100% Cannot need to move to a communist country since she believe that everyone should have the same thing regardless of how much each put in. Last time I check all the communist countries are morphing into capitalist states (even China). How funny that Obam wants to move in the direction of communism?

Too bad we did not engineer Iraq like McCain seems to employ Palin: Roll her in full Shock and Awe mode, reeking death and destruction and generally scaring the heck outa everybody . . . then pull her back out into the desert far from the opponents??? gun range. Only to return at the moment of McCain???s choosing thus maximizing Von Clausewitz??? element of surprise to maximum effect.

    • Posted By: LMAO @ 09/07/2008 3:54:20 PM

Eat your heart out - I hope he keeps her under wraps and then spring her on Biden. That woman is more man than Obama and tougher than nails than Hillary. Can you imagine Sarah rolling over and letting the DNC push Obama ahead of her? In her mind it would have been better to break up the party than support a lie. That woman is real and realness is what we Americans long for. Think how scripted the Obama family versus the Palin family. Hands down the Palin family look more like my 13-member black family. And Sarah reminds me of my mother - contented and doing the best she can with her limited resources.

  • Posted By: thehappyamerican @ 09/07/2008 3:48:45 PM

This is a weird article! Is this pre-positioning so when Biden gets beat up in the debate the accusation goes out that Sarah was "illusive?" Not effective and intelegent?
Biden is so illusive he refers to his discrimination campaign against fire arms owners like Palin as REASONABLE because the ugly discrimination campaign it's self defines what "reasonable" is, in Bidens' view!!
Biden is not going to lose the debate because his opponent is elusive. But because the liberal left-wing propaganda and standard message is FOR losers and BY losers!

"she has a respectable approval rating there"
Easy there, don't get too out of control describing the Governor with the HIGHEST approval rating of Governors (80%+) in the entire United States of America. Guess if this was Professor Fineman, no one could get an A in his class (except possibly in the highly improbable event of a liberal Governor scoring highest)
What would the approval rating for the Democratic controlled (Rock Star Pelosi, not-so-Rock Star Reid) be called (you know the one that is around 1/2 the approval rating of the President)?

    • Posted By: paul962 @ 09/07/2008 2:53:38 PM

Those ratings aere before "Troopergate" when she said she welcomes an investigation, until it started. Now her approval is 62% and dropping fast. Perhaps McCain might win and watch his VP go to prison just like Nixon did with Agnew. Republican's and criminal behavior without personal responsibility. Republican governance for you!.

It appears that you are referring to the KTUU Channel 2 (Anchorage) on-line poll for July 25, 2008 asking "How has the public safety commissioner controversy affected your opinion of Gov. Sarah Palin?"...the choices were 'positively', 'negatively' or 'It has not affected my opinion of the Governor'
        - the negatively choice was 62%
This was not a poll asking about approval ratings of the fine job Governor Palin is performing....this was an online poll asking one question
Oh yeah, at the bottom KTUU states: All polls conducted by Channel 2 News and KTUU.com are unscientific.
