Strong? So strong she ran back to Alaska to hide away from the media.
Qualified? As qualified as my 21 year old niece.
Eloquent? Do you mean she can read the speech tha someone else wrote for her?

Just read through all the hateful liberal comments here. Why do you have to be so NASTY, who really wins here ? As long as you keep perpetuating the lie, America and our children lose. What are they inheriting ( those you "allow"life that is ) ?? They see adults angry, self righteous and willing to bully. The nastiness directed at Palin is so unbelievable. Someone makes the comment that if she is going to play with the big boys she needs to take the abuse ? Wow, is that how we treat women in this Country ? I thought they just treated their women like that in the middle East. I

I believe it was Palin who compared herself to a "pitbull." As a woman I take offense at that. If she's that strong, and a pitbull has a ferocious grip, then she should follow it up with interviews to explain her position. Please explain to me how someone who just arrived on the scene a week ago is so "lovingly" embraced and yet, the other man (the dark horse as it were) is stumping for almost 18 months but.."we don't know him"? Finally, I find it insulting from a Biblical point of view. If she's going to tout her beliefs as being Bible-based then why start off with lying? Bridge-to-Nowhere? Sold plane on ebay and made profit? The list goes on. The Bible says that God will not even bother to judge a liar. She should also follow the commandments, "Thou shalt not make false witness against thy neighbor". Be it she's in Alaska and he's in Chicago..but you get my point.

Now if she really wants to address Women's Issues, and I certainly hope she does since many women with the same two X chromosones seem more interested in shared anatomy than policy, I hope she can tell me how I can expect to keep paying $1000.00 a month for Thalomid and the government has done nothing to rein in these drug manufacturers... That is one of the kitchen table issues I'd liked discussed. And, I don't care if she serves moose-ala-chutzpah when she does. But stop playing convenient pitbull with lipstick one moment and the "please be gentle cuz I'm a lady" the next. Let's get down to policy! I'm not a democrat just an American citizen who wants answers before Nov. 4th.

Considering how Bush's and McCain's men are rushing in to annihilate all evidence of Palin's corruption, I don't see any change coming from Alaska or anywhere else from the Republican Regime. These are the same old tactics with a somewhat newer face. Palin fits right in with everything else that has decayed Washington and our government for the past 8 years. Being a mommie has nothing to do with abuse of power by the highest elected official in the state or the nation. No wonder she's such a kindred spirit. The team of Bush-McCain-Palin are undermining the "Troopergate" investigation.

NEWSWEEK'S Michael Isikoff: The proliferation of former Bush White House aides in the Palin team may strike some as ironic???and could even provide some fodder for the Democrats???given the McCain camp???s efforts to distance itself from the unpopular president. Key Alaska allies of John McCain are trying to ... remove the Democratic state senator in charge of the so-called "troopergate" investigation.

Obviously 8 years of outrageous disregard for our Constitution and laws see no end in sight. Who during the past 8 years have had to take consequences for this lawlessness? Only the citizens of the US. Who will be held accountable for the unprecedented list of violations and injury by Bush? McCain-Palin have no intention of prosecuting the many culprits who have tried to destroy our country under the cover of Bush and executive privilege. America's only access to accountability for the past 8 years is to deny another lease on the Bush-McCain-Palin plan for born-again billionaires. All you have to do is look to see who is calling the shots in the Bush-McCain-Palin team. They move their same team players from one title to another, but they're still all the same culprits. Rove, Cheney, Gonzales, Miers, Brownie, Haliburton, Blackwater. All of the usual suspects are still at large and planning to wreak more havoc on America. All they need is your vote to renew their plan of destruction. Are we ready for regime change at home?

I find it hilarious to see the Dems and their pals in the media scrambling to understand Sarah Palin. She connects with Americans because she is one of us....not some unknown community organizer from the South-side of Chicago.....not some blow-hard Senator from Delaware...not loved by Hollywood or the media....in short, she connects and will bring the McCain-Palin ticket to the White House in November.

    • Posted By: Dencal26 @ 09/07/2008 9:27:28 AM

I agree 100%. Sarah Palin will win the hearts and minds of Americans from Sea to Shining Sea. No I do not expect her to win the Dykes on Bikes votes. Or the NAACP Female council. But she will win the Geraldine Ferarro Dems.

This campaign has exposed the soul of the Democratic Party. When it suits that party, it talks wonderfully about treating women with respect. But when Dems feel their interests are threatened, then they will stop at nothing to drag a woman through their mud. All this pious talk from Dems saying the mother of five should stay home to take care of kids makes me sick. Do Dems really think people are so stupid that they would believe that Dems care about Palin's kids?

When Newsweek/Fineman do an in depth scrutiny and report of Obama's Marxist leanings and close contacts with known domestic terrorist Bill Ayers and his work with ACORN as a "community organizer" (some would call that rabble rousing) and investigate and make known all the anti-American filth that Rev. Wright Obama's close advisor preaches from a pulpit, no less than I might listen to Fineman's opinion. Otherwise he's just another elite media liberal mouthpiece for the Democratic party.

So if I understand you correctly, it's okay for Sarah's pastor to preach that the war in Iraq was God-orchestrated? And, that she was and may still be a member of the Alaskan Independence party who believes in secession? Oh, let's not forget that Obama was only about 7 years old when Bill Ayers Wheatherman group lost their minds. And, if you belong to a parish or church where the Priest, Rabbi, etc., was sexually abusing it's youngest members and yet you and your entire family never left..that's okay? Say, what you really mean and stop hiding behind a crazy nicknames like "elite = uppity black man..oh, I'm sorry... half- black man. Bush fatigue, choppy economic waters, unpopular war in Iraq - the democrats could ahve nominated a ham sandwich and won this year. But lo and behold, they've managed once again to present America with a candidate that is unelectable.

I don't like to monitor early polls too closely but Obama should be leading by 15 points at this point. Instead he's in a DEAD HEAT!!!

I hate to disturb the Left's grand delusion but barring any catastrophic event in their favor, this thing is over. Try nominating someone the American people can elect next time. Maybe someone who is qualified instead of a candidate that fulfills your distorted need to stroke your liberal sensibilities?

McCain is gaining on Obama in an almost linear fashion so that now McCain is less than 2 points below Obama in the National Average. The trend is what is important.

  • Posted By: Therightchoice? @ 09/07/2008 11:04:10 AM

Pain / McCain or Biden / Obama, Rumors fly and number constently change. It all depends on who wrote the article. As Americans with the right to participate in making the choice of who will take the riegns of our country I think we all need to realize our decision will afftect our neighbor as much as our neighbors choice will affect us.
In this election I think it is time for everyone to stop riding their respective parties bandwagon and do a little leg work for themselves and their fellow citizens. Don't elect someone on hear say or the candidates ability to wow a crowd with great oratory and charisma. Check the stories, find out how they are going to accomplish things they promise. Look at what has and hasn't succeeded in the past and compare iit to their plans. And no matter what please be coginzant of the candidates as a person not just a politician. I myself think we need more common people in office with exceptional knowledge and drive then just experience in office.
And just a thought about the "experience platform". In reality only oneof the 4 candidates actually has executive office descision making experience and that one is not runnning for president. Others have been tied to being associated with questionable people in cities which they have performed civic work. While others have ony a long history of being true to their party and its status quo. It s a tough choice.
I have done some leg work to try to someof this confusion for myself. So far other than rumors and stories the one thing I have found that is tangible is the history of the only candidate with executive decision making. Yes the only one but what good is that experience if it turns out the decsision making was as poor. Read for yourself by using the link below.
And if you think this more runors, do the leg work, It is all in black and white and can be easily substantiaited. And please don't stop there I urge all of us to do the same leg work for all four candidates then balance the tangible and real stories not what you here in the news or see in the polls.
    http://www.washingtonindependent.com/3671/the-reform-candidate
And on last thought. MAybe it is time we have abllind debate. One in which we can not see or hear the candidates response only see them typed on a monitor. Would we all then be able to pick the nominees from our party? Or would it make it a much simpler process to then vote on the issues, answer and plans to fix this mess without voting on a face or a party platform?
Vote for OUR country, not just YOUR party.

Thank you for being a responsible journalist--but where are your colleagues? Of course it is difficult for Obama/Biden to criticize a lovely-looking woman with a special needs infant in her arms, but where are journalists, except for Jon Steward, when it is time to show the lies, reversals, and contradictions of McCain and the appalling past beliefs and unethical practices of Palin. We aren't needing rock stars; we need wise, smart, honest committed leaders to help the US and the world out of the biggest financial crisis, made by get-rich Republicans, since the Great Depression.

Thank you for acting as a responsible journalist in the world. I'm aware of the traps for Obama/Biden in pointing out the flat lies, contradictions, and reversals in McCain's past and the extreme beliefs and unethical practices in Palin's past, but I am shocked that journalists--except for Jon Steward on Comedy Central--are not holding these two responsible for who they are as evidenced by who they have been up until the time of the Republican convention. Partisanship is not the job of journalists but accurate, responsible reporting is. We need honest smart leaders and vigilant journalists.

Sara Palin is smart not to play the media's "gotcha" game. Within days of her selection she drew 37 million households for her acceptance speech, she doesn't need the Media. She has credibility, they don't. There is no biased, left leaning media. They have become rabidly doctrinaire and partisan and have lost their credibility. AIN'T IT A BITCH TO BE IMPOTENT.

  • Posted By: gliderpilot @ 09/07/2008 11:07:09 AM

One way or another, the households that account for gnp will pay for federal spending. Even if Obama attempted such an extreme program of taxing only payers making over $250K (Congress would not approve it in any case), his tax will then be primarily on small business. Small business (and large business) will merely shift the tax to consumers as a cost of doing business. This would be particularly hard on low income households who spend a greater share of disposable income on necessities. Another form of payment would be loss of jobs because business must respond to increasing taxation by every means. Does Obama understand all this? He is an intelligent man, so I must presume he does. Does he care? Or is his focus on getting elected no matter what?

Yes River.Bird and for someone to say they're going to vote for Obama simply because he is black is just as ludicrous as voting for someone simply because she's a woman . I'm surprised someone as smart as you portray yourself didn't make that comparison. There are those ignorant enough to vote "The Party" regardless of who is running. That's where real ignorance comes in. People really do need to wake up!!

Yes, the city went into debt to do it and raised the city sales tax from 2 percent to 2.5 percent to pay for it. Yes, the city is paying it off early.
Yes, she did finally turn down the money for the bridge. Yes, that meant changing her mind about it.
No, she didn???t cut funding for unwed mothers; yes, she did increase it by ???only??? 354 percent instead of 454 percent, as part of a multi-year capital expenditures program. No, the Washington Post doesn???t appear to have corrected their story. Even after this was pointed out in the comments on the story.
No, she didn???t cut special needs student funding; yes, she did raise it by ???only??? 175 percent.

Obama likes to say that he will raise taxes only on folks making $250K or more. He does not mention that 98.1 percent of households make less than $250k and that 95 percent of gnp is accounted for these households. Obama apparently hopes Americans will fail to notice the implausibility that the federal budget can be paid for by folks other than those who account for almost the entire gnp.
