Consider this: Gov. Sarah Palin is worthy of our respect, as a woman and as a human being. Why is it you have chosen to paint a target on her back. Sarah Palin was a wonderful choice, as gauged by the public reaction and the national polls. Unfortunately, some of the posts below, have chosen to go ahead and attack her family, in a disgustingly uncivil manner. That is the kind of dirty politics we should all reject.

Palin is pro-life, even in the case of rape, and opposes same-sex marriage and favors teaching creationism alongside evolution in schools. But she hasn't pushed for legislative changes in any of those areas.

That says plenty. It shows she knows the limits of government. Government isn't there to tell us what to do.

Obama seems more inclined to use government to control it's citizens than Palin.

Go to this link to see a video made by a young black man in Los Angeles who claims that he is the real father of Bristol Palin's baby. Sarah Palin has been implying that her current boyfriend, Levi is the father. He is NOT. The young black man wants a paternity test to prove he is the father, and he wants visitation rights. He went to Alaska early summer to visit his uncle who works on the pipeline. He met and began dating Bristol. They had multiple sexual relations, and she got pregnant.

It is likely that Republicans will try to have this removed. You need to go there quickly before the video disappears.

McCain picking Palin for VP is not a woman's issue. It is an issue of Republican cynicism for our electoral process, McCain's poor judgment, and, the American fascination with reality TV. The crime of picking Sarah Palin is that McCain wants us to vet an unknown person in less time that the country picks an American Idol. How many priests and ministers have to be on the front page before we realize you can???t judge a book by it???s cover ??? no matter how appealing that cover is. With this pick, the Rovian Republicans manage to move people from talking about real issues like the economy, the war, and our children - to the latest "news" about a journalist who refuses to talk to the media, pitting woman against woman, and wasting very precious time. Sarah - Superwoman - allows Republicans to bask in the fantasy that they are not responsible for
our nation being involved in torture, for the lax regulations on the mortgage industry, and for our reliance on oil. Palin is the Republicans' great joke on America. The question is whether America is going to turn this into American Idol or a serious choice for the future of our country. "Those who wish to be ignorant and free believe in something that never was and never will be."-Thomas Jefferson. Go Obama/Biden

Just read Mike Allen's piece (on Politico.com) about Charlie Gibson's upcoming "interview" with Sarah Palin. Good grief! Instead of an honest-to-goodness SUBSTANTIVE hard-hitting INTERVIEW it sounds more like Charlie will be doing a PUFF CELEBRITY PIECE EXTRAORDINAIRE ala Barbara Walters!! This is really pathetic. No hard-hitting Q&A. Disgraceful. Is the rest of the MSM going to let Rick Davis & Co. get away with this? Can you imagine if this were "STEVE PALIN" - a total newcomer to the national political scene - who had not uttered ONE SINGLE UNSCRIPTED WORD IN 11 DAYS since being chosen??? Would the MSM be so meek and frankly, cowardly? Or would they create such a hew and cry about "Steve's" avoidance of answering TOUGH ISSUES questions that "Steve" would feel compelled to hold a press conference, do the Sunday political shows, etc.??? ONLY the WONDERFUL ROGER SIMON of POLITICO has had the GUTS to say that if Palin cannot answer the really TOUGH ISSUES questions from the MSM RIGHT NOW she has no business running to be VP! How about it MSM??? Are you as BRAVE as ROGER SIMON??? Or are you COWARDS who are SHIRKING your journalistic duties?

I could care less about her personal life (her and her daughter popping out babies). The fact is she is a right wing fanatic! She was for Alaska seceding from the United States (the Alaskan independence party). The rhetoric from this party makes rev. wright's diatribe look tame! She is against abortions even in conditions of rape and incest. She is also a liar. She has been on the campaign trail saying she is against earmarks when she took 27 million in earmarks for her town of 6000 people! She said she was against the bridge to nowhere, when she was for it and took the money (after it was a national joke) and spent on other p projects. She is corrupt!

This interview that Charles Gibson is doing is going to be a farce and dishonest to the American people!! Who are you - the media accountable to? Is it us the viewers or corporate America?!!! Please read on below to understand why this interivew that Gibson gives to Palin is such a crock of Alaska!!

"And it's pretty clear this farce is going to be close to unwatchable. Set aside that this comes just on the heels of McCain campaign manager Rick Davis saying Palin would not sit for any interviews "until the point in time when she'll be treated with respect and deference." The tell comes high up in the AP story by David Bauder. The second graf reads ...

Palin will sit down for multiple interviews with Gibson in Alaska over two days, most likely Thursday and Friday, said McCain adviser Mark Salter.
Political interviews are never done like this. Because it makes the questioning entirely at the discretion of the person being interviewed and their handlers. The interviewer has to be on their best behavior, at least until the last of the 'multiple interviews' because otherwise the subsequent sittings just won't happen. For a political journalist to agree to such terms amounts to a form of self-gelding. The only interviews that are done this way are lifestyle and celebrity interviews. And it's pretty clear that that is what this will be.

Here's some more to inspire confidence ...

The interview is a coup for Gibson, who also had the only sit-down with McCain during the Republican National Convention. During that interview, he did not question McCain about Palin's family, a decision that he fretted about for hours, Gibson said in a Web log posted last week.

"Once you know about her daughter's pregnancy, once you know about her husband's political interest in the Alaska Independent Party, once you know about the special nature of their latest child, I think that's enough," Gibson wrote.

The relevant questions about Palin all related to her experience and policy positions as a mayor and governor of Alaska.

ABC News spokesman Jeffrey Schneider said he did not believe Gibson's stated stance about family questions was key to securing the interview. It will be unwatchable. "

Your right on the nose. Gibsons interview will be canned, edited and tightly controlled by the GOP.
      Every word will be controlled...
ABC is a joke (Disney) a conservative wonderland of pro business, pro monopoly, pro war garbage!
      The con is on!

Charles Gibson is a media hack. No guts, No glory for ABC. I stopped watching all ABC shows after the Democratic debate.

Thank God Sarah is no Hillary! This idea that you guys keep posting, that McCain is trying to steal Hillary voters, is absured. Palin will pick some up, my mother and my two sisters included (all three democrats, all three hold grad degrees), but, Palin does more than that. But first, let me comment a bit further. There were some women voting for Hillary just because she is a woman. Just as Barak America's huge support in the black community is based solely on race (there will be many jobs lost if his tax plan goes into effect, I know, I am part owner in one of those small businesses that will have to gear back investment). So, some will vote Palin for that reason. Other women, who may have agreed with Hillary on some issues but not on all will find a strong woman in Palin. But, there are many moderates, men and women, who are conservative in faith and policy, who will find Palin attractive and that's the main reason she is a great pick. That she is an expert on energy and fires up the republican base is a bonus. So, Yes we all can, whilie you have a right to your opinion (I enjoy reading everyone's opinions and find this election fascinating), you and the media are kidding yourselves if you think there is no Palin appeal. You think, if you say it enough, it will become truth. Remind me of Bill Clinton . . . . tell a lie long enough and you start believing it yourself. If Obama weren't worried about moderates and WOMEN he wouldn't be sending out surrogates (mostly women) to seek the moderate vote. Now a word about the media, when Lou Dobbs bashes his own network something we've all known was obvious is coming to the forefront, and, truth be told, without the media in his pocket, Barak America would be Hillary's VP. Fineman bothers me, because he pretends to be objective. He's not. Matthews doesn't bother me, he admits what he is. Olbermann is just obnoxious, helping McCain more than he hurts. Olbermann's followers, and ther Obly speak, McBush, McSame, just reinforce their ignormance. Jonathan Alter, well, he needs to go work on a farm, or put on an infantry uniform . . . he has no clue what the real world is about. I've enjoyed the posts, interesting election huh?????

S your sisters supported Hillary, and are Democrats but now they like a person that is anti-abortion, anti-gay, believes there's no global warming, and is as far away removed from Hillary's views as anyone can possibly be.......... You are so full of it it's just sad dear.

Next time at least be coherent if you don't mind...... Or explain to your "graduate school" sisters what's the difference from having a choice or facing jail time. The same "choice" Palin said her daughter had..... The same "choice" her darling mother and her friends want to take away from her as soon as they get to power. But "choice" souds nice in a BS speach to a bunch of half drunk conservtives.... And your sister the "graduates" need a bit of study ON THE ISSUES they were supporting with Hillary.

All like deja vu! All these conservatives come out and start ranting and raving about intelligence, ethics, dignity and family values. then whoosh eight years go by what do you have- the most unethical bunch of politicians, administration in history! Intelligence- Mccain and Palin are both eggheads- took forever to graduate, last in class just like 'W"! Dignity- like the subversion to start a war where thousands of women and children were killed- The Iraq War! Like dignity- no oversight in the mortgage business, let the financial wolves run free and destroy thousands of Ameican families on some fine line burried back on on page 52 of a 100 page contract! Dignity to create a federal loss that our kida will paying for into the next generation!
Deja vu again- now its a pro oil woman and a stodgy old timer that calls himself a maverick!

    education vs. abstinence

    evolution vs. creationism

    diplomacy vs. arbitrary war

    intelligence vs. narcissism

liberty and science vs. right-wing self righteousness

    sustainability vs. monopoly

    democracy vs. plutocracy

    Deja vu again!

I have 2 questions: If Senator McCain's judgment and experience are superior to Senator Obama's, why was Governon Palin his third choice behind Joe Lieberman and Tom Ridge? Moreover, we are constantly hearing that Senator Obama's judgment is lacking because he did not support the "surge". That's fair and he should be judged upon his vote. However, why isn't Senator McCain's judgment questioned for voting for the worst foreign ploicy blunder in US history?

    • Posted By: rube @ 09/08/2008 8:33:08 PM

Touchdown! What was worst voting for an arbitrary war made up from subversion and duplicity of McCains party or voting against a serge in Iraq- meantime the war has moved to Afghanistan where Obama stated from the start the real war was! Doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure this out folks, unless your not to smart!

If the best you can do is that she doesn't know what FreddyMac is or does, then good luck on getting people to change their minds. As far as qualifications from previous experience...seriously...you can't vote Obama and say that about someone else.

And Obama made promises that this wouldn't be politics as usual and picks Biden as V.P. You have no issue defending that double standard and the many others that follow.

The "bambi in the headlights" is the Obama voter who thought this election would be a slam dunk and suddenly got very scared when they met Govenor Palin.

about the GOP party destroying the fabric of our economy! Conservatism and its corruption have brought our nation and its institutions to the brink... not a word or a fact! Palin this Palin that Mccain this etc. all subjective conjecture!
Not a fact ! You sound like Mccain and Palin, all face music and no substance! Amazing! What is your education level because we all know that Mccains demographic is made up uneducated whites and older rich whites! Not a word, not a fact - nothing!

Obama-Biden supporters should be stressing over the McCain-Palin ticket because most Americans want reform and change the scope of politics. It is apparent in the overwhelming advantage that the latter has among likely voters in the polls.
    (1) America has been, as still is, looking for fresh new faces to turn the tide of American politics. Barack Obama promised it, and then made a huge mistake by selecting the epitome of old time politics and business as usual???Joe Biden???a lifelong established politician.
    (2) McCain is running for President, not Palin. Nonetheless, despite the ranting and raving about her inexperience, she represents something important that McCain wants???the face of change and a change of faces. She brings the change in methodology, personnel and approach that are hindering actual progress in Washington politics.
    (3) In the unlikely event that McCain dies in office, Palin would serve the remaining term as President unraveling the weave of the intricate corruption in Washington, just like she has done in Alaska. Who knows, maybe she will sell-off some the Oval Office perks and accessories, one or two of the surplus jets, butlers, maids and chefs, and become the sweetheart of American politics.
    (4) The fight will get uglier than Biden predicts: He says he will not change being polite to McCain???but political expediency mandates the bad and the ugly to appear during the heat of the battle. Biden owes nothing to Palin, and although Biden and McCain have an opposing friendship, their political relationship will be trumped by the need to win the office.
    (5) The relative inexperience of Obama will amplify the statesman-like posture of McCain over Obama. Independents need to hear something substantive to make-up their minds, and when Presidential candidates face-off in the Presidential debate arena, experience shows through transparently. There is nothing like the combination of experience and national hero status.
    (6) It???s unlikely that the VP Biden???Palin debate will make a difference in this election. Biden represents ???same-ole??? politics, Palin change, and just by Palin appearing and touting her accomplishments in Alaska, that will be strategy enough for her to convince the majority of Americans who are looking at outrageous gasoline costs and securing our energy independence. This is the restoration of faith in American politics that McCain needs.

    Bush on Palin: Executive!

McCain and Bush love Sarah Palin.....what does that tell you?

President Bush touted Sarah Palin in an interview with Fox to air tomorrow morning on Fox & Friends, saying John McCain made "an inspired pick."

Bush seemed to especially like what other Republicans seized on: her executive experience as a mayor and governor.

"Well, she???s had executive experience, and that???s what it takes to be a capable person here in Washington, D.C. in the executive branch," Bush said.
