Dahlia, why don't you speak for yourself and let others speak for themselves. Are you a journalist or an Obama surrogate?

The quote from Exodus, the second book of the Bible, actually reads, "Thou shalt not kill". That is of course from the King James version of the Bible, an outdated, error-filled translation to be sure. Modern Biblical scholars correctly translate the text to read, "You are not allowed to MURDER". In some cases, we don't condemn killing in the circumstance of reasonable self defense. The central component of the Pro-Life issue is to protect unborn humans from being "murdered". That capital punishment is murder is a separate issue entirely.
Which version of the Bible has the line, "You are not allowed to murder."? Beyond that, where in any portion of any Bible does it define "murder"? The definition of what "murder" is/isn't, is open to the opinion of every human being.
God, so-called pro-choice women like Dahlia Lithwick should be honest and call themselves pro-abortion or 24/7-abortion women. Apparently, there is no choice involved at all. You should almost always have an abortion if you are a woman. If you are 17 and chose life, it must be because your mom is pro-life and not because of your own beliefs. If you have a baby with a defect, if you chose life your are a fundamentalist wacko.
It's pretty clear its people like Dahlia that limit choices. Have an abortion or be called out by the the fascism of the left.
Thanks for making it clear in your article.
I find a gret irony behind your handle here; apparently you feel that no one else can think for themselves.

Palin is pro-life, even in the case of rape, and opposes same-sex marriage and favors the discussion of creationism alongside evolution in schools. But she hasn't pushed for legislative changes in any of those areas.
The Associated Press reported Sept 3: "Palin's children attend public schools and Palin has made no push to have creationism taught in them. ... It reflects a hands-off attitude toward mixing government and religion by most Alaskans."
She even vetoed a bill that would have denied benefits to employees in same-sex relationships because she said it was unconstitutional.
That says plenty. It shows she knows the limits of government, and believes that government isn't there to tell us what to do.
Obama seems more inclined to use government to control what choices we have than Palin does. Check out HR 800 and see what the democrats are up to while we're all talking about Palin. They are trying to eliminate the secret ballot in union elections. How unAmerican is THAT?????
This is a personal Palin family issue and non of your business.
Sarah and Bristol Palin made it a public issue.
It bacame public because lib bloggersfound out about the pregnancy and were saying Sarah's recent baby was really Bristol's.
"Personal?!"
Was it not displayed to 38 million TV viewers, and her mother made public statements made about her "choice."
And McCain gave the father of the bastard child a congratulatory two handed hand shake on TV in some kind of bizarre photo opportunity.
Personal, my foot!
"Young Bristol" was obviously able to decide to have intimate relations, which presumably Mother Palin would have disapproved of as heartily as an abortion, so the girl's autonomy must not be too constrained by her mother's wishes. I haven't checked the relevant statutes, but I suspect that the law would allow Bristol to have an abortion regardless of her mother's wishes so any pressure that Mother Palin has exerted is sure to be persuasive at most.
Maybe Bristol will surprise us all and exercise her constitutional right to a partial-birth abortion at 7 months, if her mother looses the election. Now that would be a real "Pro-Choice" statement.
Would you please quote that section of the constitution ver baetum? Id like to see the exact words you have such knowledge on.
Just joking, it's not in the constitution; it was the will of the Supreme Court in 1973.
And Partial Birth Abortion is illegal, despite Bill Clinton's best efforts to preserve it. What a nice guy.
Proposed laws allowing medical professionals to refuse treatment for religious reasons show how bereft of principle the religious right has become. If they feel so strongly that they refuse to provide medical treatment then let them stand by their principles and face the consequences of their actions. They constantly scream for others to face the music, yet they whine and complain if they have to suffer in the least for their principles.
Mr. Zoid,
Is it confusion or hypocrasy [sic] that allows pro-choicers (not all, but not a minority either) to scream outrage over the death penalty but then endorse abortion, even in cases where the unborn children are innocent bystanders to a woman's decision to end their lives? How do you deflect this clear contradiction?
Its quite simple. I neither endorse abortion nor execution. However, I am not so self righteous as to demand that my personal opinions be forced as behavioral dictation over others. I view this as having a very simplistic solution; if you dont like abortion, dont have abortions, and if you're not carrying the child, than mind your own business. It's not as if you are offering to financially and emotionally support the child once its born. Thats the tragedy with so many anti-choice advocates, they care more about the baby when its in the womb than when it s out.
Legislating banning of abortion is just the first step in taking back america! First we control reproductive rights, then we can legislate lower wages for women to help business make a good profit to help the economy, and eventually legislate removing the right to vote for women. Face it, anybody who is too stupid to fight for the right to control their own body does not deserve the right to make decisions that will impact the security of the country.
Bristol had every right to choose and she did choose...to have unprotected sex. Why can't people just realize that decisions lead to consequences and those consequences have to be lived with. If you don't want a pregnancy, don't have unprotected sex. It is that simple. Why do we have to resort to killing what many people regard as at least a potential human being in order to eliminate the natural consequences of our bad decisions. Part of being free to choose is dealing with the results of the decisions we do make.
So how can you be a Pro-Lifer, siteing Christianity as the impotes behind that stance; then support the death penalty and war? Explain to me where you see the ambiguity in "Thou shall not kill.". Site for me the section in the Bible where it explains those occurences for ignoring "Thou shall not kill", and justifies killing.
I don't like the idea of abortion; I like to think that adoption is always the better choice. However, I'm not a female, and I dare not tell a pregnant woman what she can and cannot do.
Keep beating the dead horse.....
What or who is the dead horse in this situation?
Liberals always talk about the rights of women but never the rights of the unborn child to have life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
And conservatives never talk about what to for those newborns with families that don't want them and patents that aren't capable or raising them. Families like the Palin's will be ok, but what about the kids that don't have that support? You're ensuring life but not much hope of liberty or happiness. This argument would hold a lot more water if there was some discussion about what to after an unplanned pregnancy is taken to term. If it's moral to discuss what happens in the womb, isn't it moral talk about what happens after birth, too? We can't just look at families like the Palin's. The real world is a lot tougher. Both extremes are glossing over the complexities of the situation and leaving us with little hope of making any real progress.
"Which brings us to disturbing new regulations proposed by the Department of Health and Human Services; rules that ostensibly seek to protect the "right of conscience" of pharmacists and other health workers who don't want to participate in abortions. "
Do you hear yourself? You're saying that if you want to be a doctor, nurse, or pharmacist the government can force you to participate in something that you consider to be murder?
And you're disturbed by an effort to protect them from the coercive arm of the government?
So you're only really "pro choice" when you are ok with the choice being made.
I gotta wonder what your position is on concientious objectors in the Military.
Comment:: Conservative hypocracy has no bounds. On one hand, they want goverment out of people's lives but they will make the law and stop adults making decisions about their bodies. what next; sex in the missionary position only? They want compulsory prayer in the school; again no choice for multi religious society. They think they are the chosen ones to go to heaven and others will burn in hell.
Not only that, but "Christian" hypocrisy has no bounds. None whatsoever.
careerdaytrader=troll
You missed the memo: Audi is the new car of choice for conservative republicans who can't spell.
Choice? That is laughable. Bristol Palin was not given a choice. And the irony is that if McCain and Sarah Palin had their way, NO WOMAN would ever have a "choice".
" When was the last time any president helped make government smaller? I don't see the Republicans doing it. Reagan created just as many regs as he removed, "
But by Liberal logic, since he didn't increase the size of government as much as it was on track to be increased, he cut government, right?
I mean, since Palin "only" increased funding for pregnant teens by 354% instead of 454%, that's a "cut" to the Left, right? So by Reagan's zero sum (by your calculation) net regulation gain, that's a drop. QED ;-)
