Baby One More Time

At this year's VMA's, Britney seemed sane and the Jo Bros were the big stars. What does it all say about the state of pop music now? Two reporters debate.

For the most part, she seems to be a talentless pop tart who lost most of her rights to her boys and a sad mental case who turned to substance abuse therefore. I guess a select few felt sorry for her and gave her these awards still. She lip syncs to her music instead of using her millions to hire a vocal coach. Her videos and photo shoots are laced with sex and perversion. I'm 40 and taught voice for 12 years. Britney is just like her sister Jamie-Lynn Spears, along with bimbos Miley Cyrus, Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, and Nicole Richie: low on talent., high on bad behavior. With the parents of these kids in mind, we see that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Britney may have improved a bit lately, but like all mentioned above, they are not good role models for kids and shouldn't get rewarded for bad behavior!

i usually like the VMAs however it was ruined for me by that NASTY BRit that was on the show. His Visa should be permanently revoked and if I can I will work on that.

Rumor has it that, Britney's music produce paid off the VMA producers to allow her to win much needed awards.

i agree with observer101, its disgusting a show like the vma's is used as political propaganda, its supposed to be about music videos, but then again if you look at all celebrity magazines like us weekly, ok, in touch etc etc they are all doing the obama is god, mccain is the devil, its disgusting, believe me i am in no way racist but this presidential race is biased against the republicans, the whole thing about obama is he is black, it should be about his policies but its not. giving amy winehouse any recognition is just wrong, shes a drug addicted alcoholic who has no business on stage in front of children and britney spears only got something out of sympathy, and having the likes of russell brand hosting, oh my god he is such a waste of space, never again, i prob wont watch this next year after this display.

I think it's incredible, and absolutely wonderful that the Jo Bros uphold their morals and values, in an industry where no one else does. They are the kind of people that kids should be looking to for examples of how to live their lives! Mush applause Jo Bros! stay strong!

Its bad when my kids complained that the show was just a big political platform for Obama..It sucked in their eyes...Brittany deserved nothing just like Winehouse deserved nothing...That poofy haired, raging bed headed freak host isnt even American and had no business plugging ANY politician in the American election...By the way what does the M in M-TV stand for?...It used to be for Music Television...It should change to R-TV for "reality" because music vids are rarely played on it...Or it can be changed to D-TV for Democrat television since that is what it obviously did for the VMAs...Playing anti-McCain vids and pro Obama vids is no way to ROCK THE VOTE..The slogan should just be cut down to VOTE OBAMA....Sad VMAs, it sucked, and didnt even show the ppls fav songs or artists performing until halfway through and after the commercials...

I thought the first VMA for Britney was enough to just appease her but I really think they went overboard with 3 awards when other artists were far more deserving. This definately sends the message that if your are a big enough "product", you can succeed without it being based upon your merit. I'm not trying to hate, but please let these celebrities know where they stand, otherwise they will develop some sort of complex and not be able to handle real life situations when they fall off this false pedestal that the music industry creates for them.

Personally, I am glad that Britany didn't suck, but I don't think she deserved those awards. I was irritated as all hell that Christina Aguilera appeared to be lip synching the whole performance, when Pink, and all her explosions was able to sing. Watching this show made me feel like an old fart at 26. Our musicians are considered classic hits at this point, and the new performers (Jonas Brothers and Miley) are just annoying. Although, Russell Brand yelling at her for playing video games was probably one of the best things I've seen... she really is just a little kid playing Rockstar after all.

The show was a bowel movement and smelled like week old fish. Three awards were a pretty transparent payoff to get pay BS on the show!
