I see your words refuting the claims, but where is your proof that this is true. If you're taking Palin's word for it, how can we even believe you fact checkers? Even inquiring about banning books is telling. Also, the information you have is misleading because her husband was a member of the Independence Party and she spoke among the group telling them what a good job they were doing.

If you would bother to read to the end, on page 4 the entire list of sources are documented. But, you probably have been educated under the public educational system set up by Senator Ted Kennedy - whose goal was to "dumb-down" the average American citizen. Looks to me like it worked.

      Karenn1 -

Your short comment reveals quite a bit about you.

First off - there is no such word as "wehat", even in the ho-od (purposely misspelled).

Secondly, do you have any valid facts to support your contention that John McCain even had a radio show in Vietnam?

Thirdly, now actually think about this one - what do you expect to "see" regarding a radio (not TV) program?
      It just isn't possible!

Obviously you have quite an inability to consider facts and to form reasonable opinions.

You have demonstrated that you are just another one of those losing obamabots!

After traveling to Texas while 8 months pregnant with a baby known to have down syndrome, did Palin board a plane after her water broke to take a 10 - 12 hour flight back to Alaska because she only wanted to have the baby in Alaska at her hometown hospital and did she return to work three days later? Is this what super moms do? If this is true she took a huge chance of creating HUGE and senseless complications for the baby. Did Palin have a baby 8 months after she got married?

    • Posted By: Cimarron @ 09/10/2008 2:26:29 AM

Your post makes absolutely no sense. Sarah & Todd Palin were married August 29, 1988 ... Trig, her son with Downs Syndrome is five months old. Are you in some kind of time warp?

Why doesn't Factcheck.org debunk the neoliberal claim that the Senate Republicans DID NOT vote against EQUAL PAY? HR 2831, Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Act of 2007 would only change the current law of the land (Civil Rights Act of 1964, Title VII) by totally eliminating the Statute of Limitations from 180 days from discovery of infraction to absolutely no limitation to file a lawsuit. Ledbetter knew of her pay difference FOR YEARS, but did not file a suit until AFTER her direct supervisor DIED (was she afraid that he could state her pay was based on performance?).

The future consequences of HR 2831 would have been devastating to the job market. Employee records would have to be kept forever, instead of the norm of 3 years. Small business owners would always be in fear of all employees filing a suit 50 years from now - or even the employee's estate. Large companies who said the hell with the US and move the rest of their businesses overseas.

This is one clear bill that was written by trial lawyers FOR trial lawyers, and purely for propaganda slogans directed to women.

WE ALREADY HAVE FAIR PAY RIGHTS under the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Title VII.

Signing legislation that increases funding for special needs children AFTER you find out you're having a special needs child? Somehow that doesn't make her seem as noble as the article seems to want me to believe she is. In fact, the whole article leaves me the sense that this woman repeatedly uses her position of power for her own purposes.

The title: "Sliming" Palin gives a false impression. It's not sliming her
to state that she's been identified as a member of the secessionist
group. Her husband IS a registered member of this secessionist party and Sarah Palin attended conventions and
complimented the party on their good work. She was so cozy with them
that, in a meeting of the leadership, a speaker believed she was a
member. So, technically, she didn't have her name listed.

Can you imagine what the outcry would be if Michele Obama were
registered as a member of a secessionist group and Barack had both
attended conventions of the group and filmed a video praising their
good work? Would anyone believe he was being slimed if he were
identified as a member by a leader of the group? Or would they simply
    say, it's not quite
accurate to call him a card-carrying member but his participation in
the party -- and his wife's membership -- raise valid questions that
    he must address?

Also, can you imagine anyone who was anti-censorship asking about
banning books -- and firing a librarian who was disturbed by the mere
    suggestion?

"Teach both" IS pro- teaching creationism in schools. Period. In
Florida, we've been fighting just this sort of agenda. They are
anti-evolution but, when forced to teach it, the creationists say,
    "teach both."

Palin is known for changing positions when confronted with something
that may be politically damaging to her so saying one thing one day
and something slightly different the next doesn't change anything.

Buchanan himself identified Palin as a "brigader" for him on primetime
TV (Hardball, to be exact). This isn't "sliming" but simply an error
on Buchanan's part that was repeated.

Finally, factcheck.org ignores all the issues that have been proven to
be accurate, making it appear, by omission, that Palin really is being
    slimed.

The fact that she will not submit to an interview from someone other than a powder puff (Charles Gibson) tells me everything I need to know. She is OBVIOUSLY hiding something - and she is not going to let us find out what it is. So, let the rumors fly. She has no one to blame but herself. I am not voting for someone who spouts cliches and won't answer questions unless they are first spoon-fed to the reporter beforehand.

Ummm, have you read any "news" reports on her on ABC.com? Everything I've read there about her has been negative. And your comment, "Let the rumors fly" can be a double edged sword, you know. For instance, Obama's true race is in dispute ... oh yes, no doubt he's half white, but the other half may be more Arab that African ... oh yes, and he has past associations with terrorist bombers ... and gee, the terrorist of 9/11 were Arab .... no wonder he wants to hide his Arab desent.

You really need to get your facts right before making these comments. At least we have come to know Obama. What do we know about this women? All we have been hearing in the news is she's a lier and a theif. By her continue to be a public lier then we can say whatever we want about her. I read to day that over the weekend she didn't know what Freddie and Fannie Mack were. Now that's crazy you think we want someone with no knowledge to be our vp? Oh hell NO!!!! We know the games that they are playing they are using this women and she don't know she is being used by McCain. When someone tells or say something about her then they want to cry about it. Hell if she is packing all the heat like she claims then she should be able to take it. My mom used to tell me if you can throw a punch then you should be able to take it. Stop crying If she is all that tough then she should be able to take it.
She want to be bad then take it sweetie.

OBAMA: 'LIPSTICK ON A PIG, STILL A PIG'
and Mr. Obama I say to you sir. a sexist in any color is still a sexist

    • Posted By: Ezana @ 09/09/2008 7:22:07 PM

      How is he sexist?

      • Posted By: j from ohio @ 09/09/2008 7:28:54 PM

why don't you ask Hillaryand palin how he is a sexist. Or maybe any woman on the street when she hears this latest comment from Barak Obama about Gov. Palin. The man just straight up call Gov. palin a pig.

        • Posted By: Ezana @ 09/09/2008 7:37:08 PM

It would be sexist for him not to call her on EVERY SINGLE inconsistency. "Lipstick on a pig" is a commonly used idiom. It means your trying to dress up something ordinary and magically turn it into something amazing. If I say that the GOP, in trying to groom Pallin is just polishing a turd does that mean i'm calling her a turd? no. It means there is nothing there to dress up.

          • Posted By: RavenMaven @ 09/10/2008 8:40:52 AM

If i said that you were as dumb as a rock, would I be calling you dumb or would I be calling you a rock? Doesn't matter, its an insult either way. same as the lipstick on a pig remark. Because of her Famous Lipstick joke, the obvious intention was to refer to her as a pig in his joke.

        • Posted By: daplaw123 @ 09/09/2008 10:37:40 PM

Now you want to cry, if she can't take the heat then she needs to get out the kitchen. You can't have it both ways. When she was standing up there during her speech just throwing all those punches at Obama, she must have thought he is supposed to lay down and take it. I see it this way if she can throw a punch then she should be able to take one.
          Don't cry now!!!

But Obama is an idiot and she isn't.

Really, it's obvious the Dems are going for a quick kill. It's like a shark feeding frenzy, attacking her life from every angle. If we want to get down to name calling, there are some obivous ones that might be thrown about for Obama. But I see the Repubs on this site have the decency to not go there. No so much for Obama.

        • Posted By: TexasDoc @ 09/09/2008 7:39:34 PM

You could easily call a guy a pig. That's not sexist. Somehow the republican party has widened the definition of sexism to mean any criticizim of McPalin for her policy, her past, her family, her religion, her associations, and her influences. She is fair game. Suck it up GOP, you nominated an extremist who is further right than Bush. Biden's gonna feed her to the wolves and polar bears after he knocks her off that lyin' stump she's screeching from.

          • Posted By: Cimarron @ 09/09/2008 10:02:41 PM

She's fair game, so its okay to call her a pig? That's good campaign strategy? And go ahead and underestimate her on the debates ... that's just what McCain and Palin hope he'll do. Hey, do you think Biden will say anything original, or will he get his talking points from other sources?

      • Posted By: tinaweha @ 09/09/2008 7:44:48 PM

Ezana, I agree with you. I don't think that Obama is sexist AT ALL.

        • Posted By: AnyoneButTheCommie @ 09/09/2008 10:26:09 PM

No, but he is desparate that some white woman is going to ruin his coronation. Lipstick on a pig? What a gentleman.

    Remodeling? Most governors remodel.
Much of the rest of the letter is just opinion. The entire country is going big-box and being paved. Getting money for your state is what a governor is supposed to do. She outlines Palin's views with a distinct bias. Pick and chose the ones important to you and research them to get the larger truth. Here is my final observations.
    1. Don't be one of the herd mindlessly believing everything someone says or you read. Do your own homework.
    2. Never forward anything without verifying and adding your own thoughts. Otherwise it is just SPAM.
    3. Don't vote along party lines. Vote for the candidates you feel can best run the country.
    4. Don't vote based on gender or race. Vote for the person that reflects your values.
    5. Don't vote based on age. Very few presidents die.
    6. Don't vote for president by over analyzing the VP. Odds are, they will never be president.7.
Don't vote for vague concepts. Vote for concrete plans that have a chance of being implemented.
    8. Read about the FairTax concept @ www. fairtax.org.
    9. Don't just read the left wing or right wing websites & media. Look at both. Look for spin on both sides. Statistics lie. Politicians lie. Spinmasters lie.

YUP Sarah u jumped the gun on this one.

???And since our opponents in this presidential election seem to look down on that experience, let me explain to them what the job involves"

Obama wasn???t belittling your experience as Mayor in Wasilla. He was comparing the executive experience between you two. Contrasting the size (constituents and budgets). He has a legitimate argument.

Mr. Giuliani said, ???Barack Obama has never led anything, nothing, nada,???

    But he has.

Obama for America is the largest organization Obama has ever run.

Obama runs a tight ship with a drama-free campaign. Can u say the same Gov Palin?

Obama was drawing a comparison with his executive experience of leading a very successful campaign. Millions of constituents, payrolls, budget, scheduling over a 50 state strategy. His community organization experience (that u Sarah derided) has helped develop the foundation of his pragmatic, political style.

Obama???s early decision to hire political professional campaign operatives rather than surround himself with capitulators has been an unexpected success for its efficient functionality.

Palin has cited her mayoral work as a central part of her qualification to serve as governor. But at the beginning of her term, asked by the local newspaper how she would run the city without experienced department heads, she made the job sound like no big deal: "It's not rocket science. It's $6 million and 53 employees."

    http://dwb.adn.com/news/politics/story/8334949p-8231037c.html

???my understanding is that Governor Palin???s town of Wasilla has 50 employees, we???ve got 2500, in this campaign. I think their budget is maybe $12 million a year. we have a budget of about three times that just for the month??? BHO

i left the Obama campaign despite putting in money and time since April 2007. Drama free.... what a joke.

this is here in San Diego in 2007... you can hear listen to his anti-Hilary remarks here...

      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XlO0PQyj2PY

      drama free.... right.....

the biggest organization he has ran....and that is experience for a president? hope it gets bigger cause that too will get passed up by a VP....

      • Posted By: KiwisCanFly @ 09/10/2008 1:07:09 AM

If u are being truthful about being in the Obama campaign then u will already know of his experience, his resume, including legislation he has passed, authored, sponsored, co-sponsored. I do not have to inform u.

If however, u are full of B/S then I can't really be bothered.

        • Posted By: jimindili @ 09/10/2008 8:26:32 AM

Given the tone of the remarks, I kinda lean towards the full of BS option myself...

    • Posted By: RavenMaven @ 09/10/2008 1:03:55 AM

So let me see if I have got this right. Your candidates only qualifying experience for being President is the fact that he is running a presidential campaign? That is laughable. You think running a campaign makes you qualified to be president? If that were true you should be voting for his campaign manager, not him.

Palin runs a State with a $7 Billion dollar budget and by all accounts has one of the highest approval ratings in the country .

      • Posted By: KiwisCanFly @ 09/10/2008 1:14:44 AM

GW Bush had a lot of executive experience. I rest my case.

        • Posted By: RavenMaven @ 09/10/2008 7:56:10 AM

Yes. He had the same executive experience as Bill Clinton and Sarah Palin and Jimmy Carter and Michael Dukakis and Ronald Reagan. They were all Governors. Some better than others but they were all Governors. Obama has never even managed a fast food place. He's a joke. He is the Paris Hilton of politics. Famous merely for being famous with no accomplishments whatsoever other than winning elections for jobs he'll never actually do, because he is too busy running in another election for another job.

  • Posted By: KiwisCanFly @ 09/10/2008 12:40:11 AM

Be sure of your target before you fire, Sarah.

???and he???s worried someone won???t read them his rights.???

    YUP, Gov Palin.

    I am too!

Try and imagine Sarah, that Track is taken and held prisoner at a place like Guantánamo, he is considered an enemy combatant, but he has no rights to disprove this. Tortured under interrogation. Without international human rights law to protect him. Or allow him the right to protest wrongful imprisonment, that???s habeas corpus (what u mocked Sarah). After 61/2 years he is released. What impact will the injustice of Track???s, wrongful imprisonment have on family, friends and relatives? Injustice is a passionate emotion we can all relate too, regardless of race or creed.

Probably nothing has done more to tarnish America???s reputation in this area than the current administration's decision to combat terrorism without regard to US obligations under international human rights law.

Gov Palin, your mocking of human rights and the rule of law is alarming.

    • Posted By: RavenMaven @ 09/10/2008 12:57:22 AM

Yes, we should all feel very sorry for those poor mistreated terrorists. Perhaps you can make a big bureaucratic government program to help the disenfranchised terrorists because they don't have the same opportunities as the rest of us. I'll gladly pay extra taxes to support it too, because I am a hard working American, so I should have to pay for everything that is wrong with the world. What a lunatic....

      • Posted By: KiwisCanFly @ 09/10/2008 1:03:01 AM

Have u considered the ones that are not terrorist? Three were released last week. Did they not have rights?

        • Posted By: RavenMaven @ 09/10/2008 7:46:52 AM

Yes. I considered the ones who are not terrorists. Out of the hundreds of detainees at Guantanamo, how many do you think are truly not in any way directly involved , in support of, or have direct knowledge of the activities of those terrorists who would do harm to our country? I'd say maybe one in 300 just get caught in the net. In an effort to save the slaughter of 10s or 100s of thousands of American Lives, I can live with the 1 in 300. This is not a country we are fighting. There is no diplomacy involved, and the geneva convention went out the window when they flew the planes into the towers.

          • Posted By: jimindili @ 09/10/2008 8:22:29 AM

Over the last couple of years, the US has released hundreds of detainees from Guntanamo. So either the administration is knowingly releasing dangerous terrorists, or there was not a baisis to hold these people to begin with. You can't have it both ways....

      • Posted By: Pupster @ 09/10/2008 1:24:26 AM

BTW ask any general or admiral, and they would say it for the protection of our own soldiers that we should treat our prisoners humanely. But if you want to act like an ignorant jackass, guess we can't stop you.

      • Posted By: Pupster @ 09/10/2008 1:23:01 AM

We follow the Geneva convention for the safety of our own soldiers, not the terrorists. The whole point is if our guys are captured, we don't want them tortured or abused. Of course, now they don't have that protection since the Bushies spit on the Geneva convention.

I'm sure that you will support me in this most noble of endeavors." Commentary that would be given by Barrack Obama to his left-wing supporters in San Francisco if he was assured that bitter small town folks clinging to their religion were prohibited from recording his comments. • Posted By: Pupster @ 09/09/2008 10:12:47 PM

Yeah, because John McCain vowed never to talk about his POW experience in the campaign nor mention the service of this two sons, but that went right out the window when it was politically expedient. I guess he's a hero, even if he got into West Point as a legacy from his father and grandfather, and took it so seriously that he was 5th from the bottom of his class. Then he went into the military where he boozed and womanized, and crashed 5 planes. But since he lived in a box for 5 years, we will ignore the fact that as soon as he got home, he dumped his wife for getting fat after her car accident, but not before cheating on her numerous times. Luckily, he found a rich young hot chick whose father had loads of money, so he was able to buy his way into office. Of course, he did lots of favors for his rich corrupt friends like Charles Keating, and saddled the taxpayers with billions in the S&L bailout. (Thank goodness he learned from his mistakes, since it was his son who was on the board of the recent failed Nevada bank.)

He then spent 26 years in a do nothing Congress, where his most distinguished accomplishment was to vote against a MLK holiday not once but mulitple times. He was also eager to start a war in Iraq which will cost $1.8 trillion, has lost over 4000 young US military lives, and seven years after the fact, Osama bin Laden is still alive in Afghan/Pakistan somewhere. Thanks for that, McCain. Now he's eager to get us in a war with Russia and Iran, maybe to satisfy one of the many lobbyists who are senior members of his campaign. Don't worry though, since he will reinstate the draft, we can all suffer for his bad temper and poor judgment.

Finally, in a blatant pandering gesture, he picks Palin giving in completely to the religious right he denigrated just a few short years ago and a cynical play for women, despite that she negates his experience and foreign policy expertise argument. But hey, just because he voted against Equal Pay for women, is against women's reproductive rights and called his own wife a c*** doesn't mean he hates women, though he does. He hates everyone who isn't white, rich and a lobbyist, so it's not like women are special.

Good luck with your candidate, Greg. You couldn't have picked a crankier loser.

Wow. Almost nothing that you said was true. Amazing. And you forgot to mention the Hillary was just as eager for that war as McCain, as was John Kerry and John Edwards and Joe Biden. They all voted for it right alongside McCain. It isn't "McCain's War". No one who has been in a war is ever "eager for war". but you would not know that because you are obviously an uninformed 18 year old who lacks the context of history to know what the heck you are talking about.

Why is Palin being praised for being able to read a speech as well as any high school student who is on a debate team? Where is the story about the lies about Obama and his wife? Where is the story about Joe Biden? Obama graduated from Harvard's law school magna *** laude and McCain graduated from the Naval Academy 5th from the bottom of his class. Biden is also a law school graduate and Palin went to 5 colleges in 6 years and finally got an undegraduate degree in journalism. Since when does being as a member of a PTA for na few years , giving birth to 5 kids, experience for a few years watching your kids' hockey games, experience shooting and killing animals, being a controversial mayor for a couple of years of a town smaller than many high schools and most colleges in the US and being a controversial governor for less than two years of a state smaller than size of most major cities in the US and despite her statement, having no real foreign policy experience at all through education or experience unless you count a possible geography class in high school and being known as being as a member of a PTA, her giving birth to 5 kids, her experience for a few years watching her kids' hockey games, her experience shooting and killing animals, and she was a controversial mayor for a couple of years of a town smaller than many high schools and most colleges in the US and she is a controversial governor for less than two years of a state smaller than size of most major cities in the US and despite her statement, has no real foreign policy experience at all through education or experience unless you count a possible geography class in high school? Does being known as being divisive, mean spirited, and retaliatory qualities for the second highest position for a world power such as the United States even if you share those qualities with your boss? Obama and Biden are an intelligent, experienced, highly educated and respected and well tempered team and they are only choice to lead and represent America at and to its best.

You are deluded. Do you really believe your own spin? I guess if you repeat it enough times you start to believe it. Obama is an empty suit - face it! Only the Dems think Palin is "mean spirited and vindictive". No matter how you slice it, she has more executive experience than Obama and that's sad. He's actually running for President. Why are all the libs on this site so spun up over the Repub VP candidate, anyway? We all know the answer, don't we? And it has to do with a rising tide on one side and a sinking ship on the other.

I'll answer your questions for you as a third party............

Your Statement: Only the Dems think Palin is "mean spirited and vindictive".

Answer: Not true, I'm not Dem and I think she's a nasty power hungry individual. He past bully tactics while in power are written everywhere, YOU just have to WANT to look. But instead its easier to accept her selection by remining blind and uneducated on the "Real" Sarah. Read up on her. I can give you several books, and non-biased web addresses if you need me to. I would HOPE though, that you are smart enough to find them yourself IF you wanted to. Just want to help you make a more educated decision in November. Heck I believe Palin will make Bush look like a saint.

Your Question: Why are all the libs on this site so spun up over the Repub VP candidate, anyway?

Answer: The same reason anyone, regardless of party, should be concerned. You know how old John Mccain is? You know anything about his health? If anything, god forbid, happened to him...She would become president. THAT should scare the common American citizen.

Instead of blindly jumping on the bandwagon like it appears a lot of voters are doing........get your facts straight, do some reading (I know thats tough), and find out who you are really voting for in November. Its amazing to me how little some people know about the person they are willing to vote for as the leader of the free world.
