I will just let the report stand on its own (either way) - legal answer. I already know the ethical answer - Palin's actions did not pass the smell test. The moral question is between her and the people of Alaska.
lots of mean people in this blog
goocat... I didn't have to point out anything. Your entire rant supports my
observation. Of course, it's a tired line... just like your rant
Dear Navy Mom, I forgot to say that I would love to vote for a Black Man if that Black Man were Alan Keyes. Do not try to call me a racist again Momma!

Comment: You know John McCain was not born in America he was born in Panama . So maybe he really is just a mule for the South American drug cartel. How is that for a rumor you dear need to get a life. and stop with the Muslim stuff. First of all not all Muslims are terriosit. Any thing that is taken to the fun delmentalist stage is not good . including Christianity. . I just would like to know are you afraid of Barack because you think he his a Muslim or because you know he is Black." Dear NavyMom, Barack is about as black as an Average American. He is mostly white and Arab. I have nothing against blacks. My daughter dated a black guy for a while. I don't think that Obama is a Muslim terrorist. And, for all I know it might be a plus to have a President with some kind of Muslim background. He might understand the religion better than McCain. He might be able speak the words that will make the US a safer country... safer from terrorists. I'm an Independent (Libertarian). I give thought to all sides of an agument.
Lee Homes !
Careful - you are suggesting real, balanced journalism form Newsweek. I mean, come on, like investigate a Democrat? Who are you kidding?
Funny you should mention it.
Associated Press Sept.09,2008:''Rangel[Charlie Rangel,Democrat,New York], May Lose Ways and Means Post''.
For what?
75,000 $ in undeclared income from a vacation home in the Dominican Republic
Four rent-deferred homes in New York City.[where he is accused of collecting the loot on these homes and then not reporting it].
Nothing doing on these developments by NEWSWEAK.
Here are a few things the left is really angry about....
Aunt Nancy and Uncle Harry fooled them...promised to end the war and then didn't.
Their allies in the media are starting to move away from the lies and smears that fuel every RAT campaign.
Zerobama is backtracking on taxes, the war, etc....knows the positions he took to appease the moonbats and steal the nomination from Hitlery will not get him elected.
Real Americans are beginning to see through their "we support the troops" lie...if you don't support the mission, you don't support the troops.
Real Americans are beginning to see through the "peace is patriotic" lie when it really means "we're wrapping ourselves in the Constitution to cover our treasonous speech and actions."
Real Americans know that Zerobama's tax plan is not just ujfair...it's socialism. The real middle calss aspires to wealth, and resents those who want something for nothing.
No matter how much of their own feces the left slings at Palin, it doesn't stick...it just makes her support stronger.
They're really mad at themselves because of their overwhelming impulse to trash Palin, even though they fully realize that it hurts their own perverted cause.
Yes....the left has much to be angry about....and they're going to have to live with it for four more years, as the RATs once again snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
Live with it, lefties!!!
aman brother preach it.
Good for you for mentioning who said what - ie: Soledad of CNN
What? Liberals are lying?...noooooooooooo! say it ain't so,I thought only George Bush and that Evil Dick Cheney did that..List up Libtards...YOU CANT RUN 8 YEARS OF HILLARY THE "WOMAN" UP OUR A**,AND NOT SOUND SERIOUSLY HYPOCRITICAL WHEN YOU ATTACK PALIN..IM LAUGHING MY A** OFF,NO WONDER HILLARY IS KEEPING HER MOUTH SHUT!
WHAT KIND OF STUFF ARE YOU DIGGING UP , OH LIBERAL MEDIA, ABOUT JOE BIDDEN?
DOES HE GET THE NEWSPAPER IN HIS PJ`S ?
This article says that Palin "has not pushed for teaching creationism", but rather said that students should "debate both sides". That's a bit misleading, because the people that are trying to have creationism (or "intelligent design") taught in schools use words just like that. Palin would never say that creationism should be taught in schools, because the Supreme Court prohibited that long ago. Instead, advocates of teaching creationism use innocuous-sounding terms like "teach the controvery" and, indeed, "debate both sides". They want students to be taught that creationism has just as much scientific credibility as evolution. But in the scientific community there are not two sides of this issue, nor is there any debate. Evoloutionary synthesis is universally accepted, and creationism (and intelligent design) are unscientific and therefore not part of any scientific debate (or reasearch study, or laboratory experiment). So our science classes should not teach students that there is a "debate" in science involving creationism, nor should they be taught that creationist (intelligent design) viewpoints are scientific. In Governor Palin wants to have students "debate both sides", then she's clearly an advocate of presenting unscientific creationism to students as if it were real science. If parents and churches want to teach their children about religious creation, that's just fine, nobody is stopping them. But we do our children a disservice by misrepresenting it as science, and we threaten our country's ability to produce competent scientists.
Where did you get that creationism is unscientific? That is the purpose of the debates. If you people weren't so scared to be proven wrong, why would you object to both being taught as possible origins for our planet and species?
You believe that the truth or falsity of creationism will emerge from children's debates in public schools? This is a curious method to proving whether something is scientific or not.
Listen, creationism might be right. You are free to believe whatever you wish. But science has little to do with faith, it's about evidence. The great majority of humans educated in the sciences find no rational basis to imagine creationism as a scientific or provable concept.
Grow up you racist. The only reason you are supporting McCain/Palin is because they are white.
90% if black voters are voting for Obama ... that's not racist?
Grow up you racist, we vote for McCain/Palin not because they are white. I am sick of liberals calling us racist, when you are the one thinking about the race the most.
Eisnel's message is absolutely right and Newsweek should know better. It is highly misleading to assert that Palin's advocacy for creationism is a baseless rumor. For years now, savvy proponents of creationism in the schools have followed the precise tactics that Palin has ??? an approach that, as Eisnel eloquently argues, is wrongheaded.
Message to Obama's Minions:
Back off or I'll release the tape.
haha
Are you suggesting that Sarah Palin adopted a Downs Syndrome baby just like Cindy McCain adopted a special needs child whom she met through Mother Theresa? Horrors!
Oh, I should add that the adopted McCain child is probably from a lower Indian caste, as she is darket skinned. I would not normally bring up skin color. We have African Americans in our family. I am white. I am trained as a social worker. I do not talk skin color.
Desperate People like goocat have to learn to tell the truth and that denial is not a river in Egypt.
That's a tired line! Of course you didn't point out anything that wasn't true.
CNN is going the best fact checks so hear and learn.
I am appalled at the commentary here challenging my belief that Jesus is my Lord and Savior. I am sick and tired of the extreme Christian right thinking that they speak for all Christians and calling them unChristian if they do not agree with their views or priorities. I do not think abortion is right, but I also do not think that that is the worst problem plaguing our country???I think helping the poor and ensuring we have insurance for all is extremely important having helped those who are in severe need of health insurance. Also please check Ms. Palin???s views (which you can readily see from her church???s views) on intelligent design, praying the gay away, funding of private Christian schools over public schools, and the like to see how she is very similar to Ann Coulter ideologically.
Thank you! I am a devout Catholic and I go to church every Sunday. I do not like abortion, but I do not have the right to enforce my personal religious beliefs on anyone. I am always astounded by the religious right "christians" who think abortion is the only issue. I believe Jesus wants us to help each other and our community. Jesus taught tolerance and love. Jesus was a liberal. Remember the part about the rich man and the eye of the needle? I think we are also supposed to care for the planet - God didn't make it for us to destroy. I look at the hate that spews forth from some of these "saved" people and it shocks me. They shouldn't judge others, that is for God.
Huberc, no doubt as a devout Catholic you, like Joe Biden, accept the Church???s unchanged and unchanging teaching that life begins at conception, correct? And as a devout Catholic you agree that abortion is always morally wrong, and always kills a human life? Yet you will support politicians who actively promote abortion, and refuse any limitations, including, in the case of Obama, the support of partial birth abortion? It???s true that abortion is not the only issue, but it is foundational, and being wrong on abortion is indicative of a warped view of the human person. And while it???s true that we can???t judge people???s souls, justice requires us to judge people???s actions.
Here???s a question: would you have imposed your personal, moral belief that slavery is wrong on the South?
On another note, why do liberals feel they can???t ???impose their view??? when it comes to abortion, but are only too happy to raise my taxes, take the money I???ve earned through hard work, and give it someone they think deserves it more? How is that not a moral imposition? There needs to be a safety net for people who hit hard times (Medicaid, Medicare, welfare), but we don???t need re-distributive socialism, which is exactly what the Obama drones want to bring us. Raising taxes on businesses, large and small, will kill the economy.
One point - when Obama's pastor Rev. Wright was spewing his hatred against America, white, Jews etc...we weren't allowed to question his views but it's okay for you to question Sarah Palin's and her church views???????? Are you kidding me?
I am happy that The Press is so thorough with Palin's background. Maybe this will be a learning experience for them.

Democrats have airdropped a mini-army of 30 lawyers, investigators and opposition researchers into Anchorage, the state capital Juneau and Mrs. Palin's hometown of Wasilla to dig into her record and background. My sources report the first wave arrived in Anchorage less than 24 hours after John McCain selected her on August 29.
Mrs. Palin will return to Alaska for the first time in nearly two weeks on Wednesday night, when she is scheduled to arrive in Fairbanks. Local Republicans will hold a "Welcome Home" rally for her. You can bet some of the Democratic opposition research contingent will be in the audience taking notes. They'll be the ones arriving in rental cars and wearing fancy dress shoes from back east.
I am so happy that The Press is so thorough. Maybe this will be a learning experience for them.
