McCAIN HAS BEEN RUNNING ON CHANGE FOR 30 YRS.. HE HAS GONE ACROSS PARTY LINES TO GET THINGS DONE (IE;CHANGE!) HE HAS WAITED A LONG TIME TO HAVE THIS CHANCE TO MAKE REAL CHANGE IN WASHINGTON! I am one of the millions who is paying for Obama to run. My husband and I are middle class and have donated roughly $100 to Obama's campaign so far this year. Most of my friends who donate give 25 or 50 to the campaign when they can. We are not able to give alot, but we are the middle class the republicans are destroying.

Obama says I have the best plan to cure the Mortgage Crisis ??? this is a Lie. He and his campaign buddy Penny 'Sub Prime Bank Collapse' Prizker have had your little fingers full of subprime cash - Obama has taken $1,180,103 from the top issuers of subprime loans: Obama received $266,907 from Lehman, $5395 from GMAC, $150,850 from Credit Suisse First Boston, $11,250 from Countrywide, $9052 from Washington Mutual, $161,850 from Citigroup, $4600 from CBASS, $170,050 from Morgan Stanley, $1150 from Centex, and last but certainly NOT LEAST - Obama received $351,900 from Goldman Sachs. I am sure that cash all came from folks who knew the subprime loan they had was a dream, eh? And in case you haven???t noticed Lehman is now bankrupt and the Freddie and Fannie fiasco is now our problem! That is the taxpayers!

Cabinet members are rarely chosen from the ranks of the Congress, or even from among the governors -- so "reaching across the aisle" is a bogus contention. I don't know whom Obama would select for his cabinet, but judging from the way he has operated his campaign, I would guess he will mirror John Kennedy and reach out to the best intellects in each field without consideration of party. Wouldn't it be wonderful to have a Warren Buffet, ofr instance, running economic policiy, with a T. Boone Pickens at he energy post?

      • Posted By: willnotvoteobama @ 09/15/2008 2:16:28 PM

Raila Odinga, David Axelrod, Ali Abunimah, Nadhmi Auchi,, Rev. Wright , Professor Khalidi, william ayres , and Bernadine Dorn these could be cabinet members of obama???s after all he feels very strongly about these folks !

Its funny. I think who has won is Rove. Americans by in large are moderates, but the hate and fear mongering from the far right and the far left create stale mate and anger. Nothing gets accomplished - except the slow decline of this country.
I went door to door for Obama this weekend in my town. A major employer went out this summer and we were walking the neighborhood right across from it. All the mud slinging and lies does nothing for the people I talked to. I guess I'm one of the people the right laughs at.... a community service person. I'm not a raving liberal, but I think the republican's economic policies have caused terrible damage to this country's middle class. If McCain was the person he was 8 years ago, I wouldn't be so worried, but his "maverick" stances were few even then and now no longer exists. He had to cave to get the right behind him. I believe we will have a continuation of the last 8 years if he is elected and our contry will continue this slow slide down the tubes. Giving the rich more, only makes them horde more. The number of off shore accounts has grown expenentially over the years. I really think abortion is just a carrot they use to get the chrisian fundamentalists to follow them. If they ever overturn roe-v-wade and the issue goes to the states... I wonder what new thing they will come up with.......

Bottom line, Palin seems to have no problem slidiing down slippery slopes.

She was in favor of teaching "Creationism," along side Evolution in public schools before she was against it. I imgine she "ammended" her statement only AFTER consultation from her private councel.

Please, either Palin cannot make up her mind or her politics is dictated by what APPEARS to look good on the surface.

Palin is either a liar or a phoney, and neither one is acceptable!

    • Posted By: neocon @ 09/11/2008 2:48:09 PM

Palin has not pushed for teaching creationism in Alaska's schools. She has said that students should be allowed to "debate both sides" of the evolution question, but she also said creationism "doesn't have to be part of the curriculum."

To debate both sides, doesn't creationism have to be taught? Not all the kids who go to that school will be familiar with creationism if they are brought up athiest, buddhist, muslim, etc.

Ok, fair enough! But what about her sadistic, rampant killing of protected wolves and bears? Are they not G-d's creatures who have lived there pre-man? What about her meeting with moronic, judgemental and WRONG "Jews" for Jesus and tolerating that? What about her inability to "crack" down on drug factories in her town. What about her complete lack of info on foreign policies? She is ONLY fit for Moose stew recipes.

Sarah Palin is a mom of 5, a soon to be grandmother, and loves to hunt. She is the Governor of a state of 600,000 and was the Mayor of a town of 6000. She hired a lobbyist to bring in earmarks over 28 million dollars, and as Governor has requested more earmarks than any other state per ca pita.

She is tough. When the news media keeps telling everyone that she did not sell the state jet on ebay, or that she was not always against the bridge to nowhere, she sticks to her scripts. In the face of truth, she is able to repeat her stomp speech and not change a thing. Not many politicians can say that.

She stood up to Charlie Gibson in her interview and said, "Yes, I am ready to be president." She is ready. How many people can say they are ready to be president. Why do the liberals want to ask her questions about her past or what she believes in? This is not fair. She has a right to be VP without explaining herself.

She also stated that she did not blink when McCain asked her to be VP. This is proof that she is a patriot. She will take on Russia, and go to war if necessary to protect our great US of A. She is ready to be VP and even President.

McCain knew it after meeting with her twice that she was his soul mate. McCain's gut told him- now that is the kind of guy that I want leading the country. A man that tosses reason and logic out of the window and goes with his gut. Unlike that wimp Obama; who wants to talk or use diplomacy first.

Proven by all of the things I have listed. Who cares about The Bush Doctrine? She is a mother of 5, not a baby killer. She looks like the girl next door, and has a comprehensive energy plan that includes only drilling. She will not drill in Indiana, Ohio or Michigan, but there will be lots of jobs in Alaska- America's Last Frontier.

    • Posted By: AMCNYC @ 09/14/2008 4:21:38 PM

When the media keeps telling people she was not always against the bridge to nowhere.....she sticks to her scripts"
Precisely. Rather than tell the truth, she stands up at a mike and teleprompter and reads the script the Bush aides wrote for her. She is only a parrot for Bush-McCain mantras. It is now confirmed by the records in Alaska: SHE WAS ENTHUSIASTICALLY FOR THE BRIDGE BEFORE SHE WAS AGAINST IT. So much for "I said thanks, but no thanks, to the Government ". Lying convincingly is neither virtue, nor qualification for President.

"She'll go to war with Russia....unlike that wimp Obama, who wants to talk or use diplomacy first"
You may remember that other great wimp who wanted to talk or use diplomacy first. His name is Henry Kissinger, and I believe he's a Republican and former much admired Secretary of State. Two weeks ago he gave an interview about the importance of diplomacy. You must be a trigger happy , blood thirsty neocon who wants to run all over the world warmongering....never first thinking about justification for engagement, over-facing a volunteer-only military, the cost to the US and issues such as long-term occupation, disengagement, creating turmoil in the Middle East. No, you sing "bomb, bomb, bomb Iran". Well, my youngest son will soon be a US Marine officer, having pledged to give his life for his country. I prefer to have a Henry Kissinger or Obama ???using reason and logic??? to make thoughtful and careful decisions, rather than rely on McCain???s bellicose ???gut???, before my son becomes ???collateral damage???.

"Who cares about the Bush Doctrine?"
The Bush Doctrine is what has cost us 4,200 young American lives, $3 trillion and $10 billion more for each month we're still in Iraq. Neocons may NOT "care" what the incumbent President's 'rule of engagement' doctrine is, but we "wimpy Eastern liberals" DO care, because we feel it's the difference between life and death for thousands of young US patriots, the difference between preserving the large budget surplus left by Bill Clinton and the massive budget deficit Bush will leave us, the difference between squandering the surplus on "a dumb war" or having used it to serve the needs of US citizens, such as education, healthcare, jobs, infrastructure. THAT'S WHY you should ???care???, so you don't vote for 8 more years of dumb ???gut??? decisions. Any politician today who hasn't got a clue what the Bush Doctrine is, yet claims ???Yes, I am ready to be president??? of the most powerful country in the world, is not only embarrassingly ignorant, delusional, inexperienced and unqualified, but also arrogant and dangerous.

As for "she has a right to be VP without explaining herself." You cannot seriously be suggesting that American voters have no right to demand to be apprised of credentials and experience of Presidential/VP candidates before they choose which to vote for? If so, yo

I would say that the entire Palin attack demonstrates clearly how the liberal left and the media operates. Most of these things have already been reported as facts by media sources. Almost every thing that has been reported about this woman has started by some fringe blog or some lunatics email. But that's how the liberal left works. Lie, lie, then lie some more, repeat the lies over and over, and if you say it enough times, for long enough a period, there will always be some that believe it eventually. Just check some of these posts to this story. Liberal moron's who refuse to believe the truth, still making the same claims, despite the fact the story is about how it's all a lie.

    • Posted By: AMCNYC @ 09/14/2008 12:41:40 PM

Excuse me Faminchin, the exposure of Sarah Palin's erratic background has been spearheaded by the media. Thank God. And not Obama camp. You wish. Otherwise all we would know about her would be her Bush aide-written speeches, her own bombastic claims and McCain camp's exagerated misrepresentation of her scant qualifications for the Veep position and bold-faced propaganda. Don't you believe American voters have a right to know about the person you're asking them to vote for? Now, before you refer to the "media" I mentioned as the "East Coast elite liberal media", I have read about Gov Palin's background issues from both coasts and in the middle. If you, like other GOP's, want to persist in criticizing the media we rely on for the facts, even when it necessitates them being investigative, I'm going to have to call you an "extreme right neocon whiner". One of those neocon whiners who made a punching bag out of CNN's wonderful Campbell Brown because she asked McCain spokesperson, Tucker Bounds, some tough and impolite questions (LOL), like "what is Sarah Palin's foreign policy experience....give me one specific example of her foreign policy involvement and why you think she's qualified for VP". Tucker Bounds, poor little laddie attack dog, couldn't come up with a single example....possibly because there are none...so he just answered by attacking Obama and the next day camp McCain issued a belicose statement of outrage at CNN and pulled a scheduled McCain interview.

It should be noted, Campbell Brown received thousands of viewer emails supporting her and telling her that she was in no way out of line, asking her to keep up the good job, many also saying how disapointed they were that Bounds had no answer.

What should that have told you, Faminchin? That McCain camp is being disrespectful to both American voters and the media by trying to force-feed everyone with only carefully controlled Palin propaganda, and expecting that voters should fall in line and just "believe" then run off and vote for Palin on the ticket. So far the media has done an excellent job of challenging the BS we've heard about Palin and, at the same time, endorsing her achievements, guts and glory.

Schlang - - are you just travelling around all the Newsweek articles dropping off this little unrelated gem about Soros because a) in some way you think it's relevant to Sarah Palin, but don't want to actually discuss how in anyof your posts, or 2) you're one of the publicized legion of McCain blog visitors and article commentators, who spend each day "dropping off" whatever the MCain camp identified as the internet bomb du moment?

Really, I'm genuinely fascinated and would love to know.

Also, could you at least be a tiny bit creative and change a word or two here and there in your post, when the article in question seems to be light years away from the topic of Soros' $40 million to "take down" John McCain. It gets so boring coming up with your same old comment on a dozen or so different articles.

I do hope, however, that while Soros is "taking down" McCain that he also "cleans up and civilizes" his sordid ad campaign that all the Bush campaign aides are running for him (I see the last two ads got 3 Pinnochios for inaccurate and misleading content!). Obama could so easily release an ad calling McCain a wife beater (rumor has it she ended up in the hospital) but not only would he rather talk about the issues facing American voters today than stoop to lies, whining, mud-slinging and erratic diversions to avoid talking issues. That's why I lost respect for McCain who I once thought was honorable

There's a nasty rumor going around the 'net claiming that Trig, the Down Syndrome baby is not Sarah Palin's but her daughter Bristol's. Can you do some fact checking to debunk that? Sarah said that after her water broke, she waited several more hours to give a speech at a conference in Texas, boarded a flight while in labor and flew for 8 hours carrying a preemie with Down Syndrome who, we are happy to learn, had a normal birth weight anyway. She said she gave birth on Fri, April 18 and returned to work on Mon, April 21, a total of 3 days of maternity leave. Interestingly, her baby's name is not on the hospital's website (Mat Su Regional) which has the names and pics of all babies born there by date. I'm sure it was an oversight. Contemporaneously her then 16 year old daughter Bristol stopped attending her high school in the 3rd trimester of the pregnancy. This is supposedly because of mononucleosis, a debilitating illness. In spite of having this debilitating illness, she is said to have gotten a ticket for making an improper turn and causing an accident, meaning that she was driving during this debilitating illness. Also, she is 5 months pregnant, meaning she was also sexually active during this debilitating illness. It's all so confusing. The best way to debunk these rumors is for Sarah to release her medical records with signed notations by doctors and nurses showing proof she was pregnant, including prenatal visits, labor and delivery records, and post partum visits for her and her baby. Thanks in advance.

    • Posted By: Maneratheart @ 09/12/2008 5:20:32 PM

I'm totally with you. This story will re-ignite when Bristol "miscarries" the "current baby." Folks had to work overtime on this cover-up. I'm really surprised anyone is buying the story the Palins cooked up.

    • Posted By: Cimarron @ 09/10/2008 12:12:25 AM

OMG, not again ... before posting, spend some time reading other posts ... in fact, spend some time researching the facts. Trig is five months old, Bristol is five months pregnant ... no matter how fertile a woman may be, it is extremely unlikely to get pregnant immediately after giving birth. Further, it is much more likely for an older woman (the odds increase greatly after age 35) to give birth to a child with Downs Syndrome. This rumor has been debunked quite a while ago.

As a professional woman and a mother, I applaud Sarah Palin's success. Just because I like her personality and admire her spunk, it does not mean I think she has the capability to run this country. She does not have the capacity to be a world leader. Yes, there are untrue rumors circulating about her, but at least there are not smear ads on the air which portray lies as facts, sponsored by Obama/Biden campaign. The McCain/Palin campaign has been airing ads which are absolutely unethical. Give me a break about the trying to protect her like she is not a professional and can't handle it. Did you hear her RNC speech? Her stump speeches are sarcastic and arrogant. It is like listening to Dick Cheney with lipstick. I am sure that she can take care of herself. Let her respond to tough questions and clarify her positions on her own. If she offers solutions to resolve our nation???s problems, then great, support her, but don't glorify her just because you "like" her. We "liked" George Bush (I voted for him), but we can do better. McCain/Palin are more of the same.

SARAH PALIN IS NOW BEING JUDGED FOR ALLOWING ARIEL WOLF HUNTS IN ALASKA ! SHE HAS SIGNED A BILL THAT WILL ALLOW WOLF HUNTS AND THE PETA PEOPLE ARE GOING NUTS ABOUT IT AND THE LEFTIST LIBERALS TOO !! ITS NOT OKAY TO FLY A PLANE IN A STATE THAT IS ALMOST ALL WILDERNESS TO HUNT DOWN WOLFS THAT HAVE BEEN DEPLETEING THE OTHER WILD LIFE IN THE STATE ! THESE WOLFS HAVE GROWN IN POPULATION SO MUCH THAT THEY ARE NOW COMMING INTO CITIES AND TOWNS TO HUNT THEY ARE KILLING OFF LIVESTOCK AND DOMESTIC DOGS AND CATS PLUS LAST YEAR IN THE STATE THERE HAVE BEEN 19 REPORTS OF HUMANS BEING ATTACKED 14 OF WHICH WERE CHILDREN ! (GOOD THING SOMEONE WAS THERE TO HELP THEM ) SO THE LIBERALS AND PETA ARE IN A UPROAR !! BUT IF YOU THINK ABOUT IT LIKE I DO YOU WILL COME TO THIS ......... WOLFS HAVE AS MANY AS 12 PUPS AT A TIME BUT NO FEWER THAN 5 AND IN A PACK 85% OF THE PUPS SURVIVE ! SO THAT BEING SAID THE WOLF POPULATION IS VERY HEARTY NOW MOST PEOPEL HAVE 1 KID AT A TIME SOME TIMES 2 OR 3 RARELY MORE ! WHY IS IT WRONG TO KILL OFF SOME WOLFS THAT ARE NOW BEING REAL BOLD AS TO ATTACK HUMANS BUT ITS OKAY FOR THE LIBERALS TO SAY HEY IF YOU DON'T WANT THAT KID GO GET RID OF IT ! SO WHAT I SEE IS ITS OKAY TO KILL BABIES IN THE LIBERAL POINT OF VEIW BUT IF YOU KILL A WOLF THEN YOUR A BAD PERSON !

    • Posted By: busby @ 09/11/2008 1:00:59 PM

No, the wolves are not growing in population to the point of depleting prey animals for HUNTERS. Wolves are so threatened as a species that, in order to bring balance in places like Yellowstone, they have had to be reintroduced from captive rehabiitation programs back into the wild. They can be shot ONLY if a farmer or rancher has proof of lose and then the government reimburses them for the lose. And shooting from small private planes has been outlawed in this country since 1972. Whether states have the right to ignore this I don't know. Presently, I believe it is Idaho that is trying to introduce shooting from planes. While I don't always agree with PETA's tactics, they are right on this one. There is something immoral about shooting predators to save prey species so that humans can kill them, mostly for trophies or fun. There is not enough of an impact on prey animals to deprive hunters who do so because they use the meat for their families Their hunting is not that excessive. Under no circumstances should a depleted species such as the wolf be subject to this kind of slaughter. As far as politics go, while I'm not an Obama fan, Palin has lost me on this one. Right now, any and every aspect of our environment is precious and under seige. And everything has a place in maintaining the balance of nature.

What do you think the Alaskan website is goingt to say? Killer wolves are overrunning the cities and must be stopped. The occasional coyote even comes into the city where I live. Wolves have a genetic fear of humans and will avoid them whenever possible. They do take domestic pets but will sometimes mate with them. Coyotes are much more likely to attack humans and much more likely to kill small dogs and cats. The most injuries to people and particularly to children in the US are from family owned dogs. Do you suggest we shoot them from the air? My brother is a veterinarian who does occasional consulting at a wolf recovery center where he lives. No where are wolves overrunning wildlife and domestic stock. Most wolf recovery programs end with a majority of wolves being killed (mostly illegally) by ranchers or hunters within the first year. If a pack in the wild can raise four cubs to adulthood, they are doing well. All wild infants are subject to huge mortality rates. Look at the reality and not through your own bias. What Palin has done is sanction an unnecessary brutal slaughter. Some of the wolves being shot could be nursing mothers. We need them just as we need the rest of the environment to be put back into balance from what we in our ultimate stupidity have done to the natural world. I think God knows more than you and Palin. And, again, don't make this political. I support neither candidate. Don't like either one of them.

Newsweek reports that Wooten had once been the subject of a court-imposed domestic-violence protection order. Newsweek further reports that a court filing by Wooten's lawyer indicates that within months of being issued, the violence protection order was dismissed.

There is no language in the federal criminal statute Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban that states or provides that Alaskan State Troopers are exempt from its provisions. Anyone including State Troopers are guilty of a federal felony punishable by five years in prison and a $100,000 fine for simple mere possession of a firearm if they are subject to an ordinary protective order for domestic violence. Importantly the reports state that the estranged spouse filed for divorce and a domestic violence protective order on April 11, 2005 against the State Trooper. This article reports that a protective order had been issued for a period. In most cases protective orders are customarily issued. Under new federal law, anyone subject to a protective order or convicted of misdemeanor domestic assault or felony assault is subject to a ban on possession or use of a handgun for a minimum of five years or at least to the end of the protective order. Some have argued that the ban is forever even after the protective order expires. The Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban is a federal law that applies to everyone including police officers and servicemen and servicewoman. Anyone in the military is subject to a discharge if a protective order is issued against them. It is a felony to violate the federal law Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban and the penalty is five years in prison. Every day that the trooper wore his sidearm or rode in his patrol car with a shotgun in the trunk, he was committing a felony and violating the federal law. If a protective order was issued and the trooper became subject to the order, the trooper should have been ineligible to be a State law enforcement officer and it would have been a slam dunk to terminate him. The State Police Commissioner should have been aware of this law and should have terminated the brother-in-law without being asked. The State Commissioner failure to uphold the federal law should have been enough grounds for his own termination.

Maybe you should go to factcheck.org and look through the past article...then you would see the article your looking for....do you always cry like that when you don't get what you want?

The title: "Sliming" Palin gives a false impression. It's not sliming her
to state that she's been identified as a member of the secessionist
group. Her husband IS a REGISTERED member of this secessionist party. Sarah Palin has attended the secessionist party's conventions and complimented them on their "good work." Flirting w/seceding. OKIYAR?
complimented the party on their good work. She was so cozy with them
that, in a meeting of the leadership, a speaker believed she was a
member. So, technically, she didn't have her name listed.

Can you imagine what the outcry would be if Michele Obama were
registered as a member of a secessionist group and Barack had both
attended conventions of the group and filmed a video praising their
good work? Would anyone believe he was being slimed if he were
identified as a member by a leader of the group? Or would they simply
    say, it's not quite
accurate to call him a card-carrying member but his participation in
the party -- and his wife's membership -- raise valid questions that
    he must address?

Also, can you imagine anyone who was anti-censorship asking about
banning books -- and firing a librarian who was disturbed by the mere
    suggestion?

"Teach both" IS pro- teaching creationism in schools. Period. In
Florida, we've been fighting just this sort of agenda. They are
anti-evolution but, when forced to teach it, the creationists say,
    "teach both."

Palin is known for changing positions when confronted with something
that may be politically damaging to her so saying one thing one day
and something slightly different the next doesn't change anything.

Buchanan himself identified Palin as a "brigader" for him on primetime
TV (Hardball, to be exact). This isn't "sliming" but simply an error
on Buchanan's part that was repeated.

Finally, factcheck.org ignores all the issues that have been proven to
be accurate, making it appear, by omission, that Palin really is being
    slimed.

Do you have any facts from any reliable source to support your rant?

Obviously you reject factcheck.org as being factual and impartial.

From where do you get your talking points - daily kos and moveon.org?

      • Posted By: Zombiehero @ 09/11/2008 5:47:08 PM

I'm sure Daily Kos is too conservative for NoName.

Are you unaware that you posted this juvenile irrational comment almost 3 minutes after you first posted it?

You have demonstrated the inability of an obamabot to actually be capable of rational thought!

No, it is not just "we" who will win by electing a Republican President and VP - all America will benefit!

Everyone will be better off with McCain/Palin, if it weren't for the Dems wounded pride, they would see it too.

It's just crazy to me that there are so many people out there that are so strictly tied to their parties, that even after you give them proof that something is false and site sources for the information, they will still stick to the lies. I just know that there's probably enough people out there to actually populate a small city that believe the 'Palin bikini photo" is still real.

Your right. The problem with this country is partisanship. Nothing will change until we have a viable third party.
