Palin took the money for the bridge to nowhere even though they will neve build it, so that's pork barrel money.

I still don't like this article. The beginning of it makes it appear that all of these claims are 100% false. At best, like the librarian censorship issue or her dealings with the Alaskan Independence Party are murky or lean towards being true (although some may never be completely proven). The beginning of this article would lend a right leaning person to be dismissive of all the charges against Palin. It's sensationalist.

I can appreciate facts. Thanks NW. Now as for trhe rest, I want to hear her speak for herself. The media in general has already pushed me to the left, I was a bit more centered. So when her "handelers" let her out of the closet, I want see the debates. I think she is going to be absolutely cooked, but hey, I have been wrong about many things in the past.

This article is a Republican Rove-Rewrite.
Palin was a member of the ANTI-AMERICAN Alaska Independence Party, so was her husband..
    Palin DID support Pat Buchanan.
Palin DID try to get books banned from a library, the librarian said so.
Remember "Troopergate"? Remember "Bridge to nowheregate"?
Palin is a ticking ethics violation timebomb. www.impalin.com

SARAH PALIN WILL BE FIRST FEMALE VP OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. ..... Hillary Clinton will ALWAYS be the carpetbagging senator who rode the coatails of her cheating husband.

THANK YOU for this excellent article! It's about time someone set the facts straight. Palin's been smeared since the moment McCain decalred her his running mate. I think it's telling that there's so little negative information to report on her that people have to make up lies. She's got my vote.

i am so surprised that the media has not tapped onto this womans personal life.I am a black woman 35 years of age and i have seen america come a long way, however i have realised that if you are black nothing is off limits but if you are white everything will be covered up.we all know that trigg is not sara palins child maybe grand child but not hers. For the first time in my life i see the media is affraid to do their jobs i am ashamed of the media.when jerremiah wrights tapes came out the media tried to bash obama now this woman has skeletons jumpin out of the closet and you hush up about it. i see.if you are black its ok to bash you if you aree white you areexempt!!!!!

You lose all credibility when you espouse such nonsense. Do you think the Governor of a state could fake a pregnancy? You are the prototypical Obama supporter - who is supporting Obama for all the wrong reasons. "He is black therefore I support him."

Hmmm, let's see ... Trig was born in April, so that's what ... five months ago. Sarah's daughter is five months pregnant. How does a woman get pregnant immediately after giving birth? Furthermore, the likelihood of giving birth to a child with Down's Syndrome increases with age. I don't care what your race is ... I don't care if you're plaid ... your intellectual capacity is downright scary. And, if you think being white will get any wrongdoing covered up, tell that to Duke Cunningham sitting in prison right now ... where he belongs, I might add.

luv you liberals, one of your own mouthpieces decide to show a little integrity and print the truth for a change.

luv watching libs try and spin the facts.

the posts show what happens to the msm as they catch it from the libs for being honest about the liberal enemy.

The facts are not someing liberals are comfortable with. I guess, the vitriolic posts are proof why msm maintains the left slant, they are ducking the liberal vitriol and violence.

Guess I'm very liberal. I believein freedom of speech and not being told to stay away if I disagree.

      • Posted By: Crestlinecbs @ 09/09/2008 3:54:34 PM

Clause, You don't believe in freedom of speech unless that speech agrees with you. Liberals today are so hypocritical about being broad-minded when in fact you belittle and attempt to intimidate those with whom you disagree. Just look at some of the posts from your fellow libs that talk about how Republicans/conservatives are "scary" and "frightening". Grow up and discuss points of view in a rational, logical way where you see different viewpoints and recognize honest disagreements on the issues without fearmongering. Sheesh.

Don't you think that there are powerful forces in Alaska who are trying to get back at Palin?

  • Posted By: Truthie @ 09/09/2008 8:13:29 AM

As a devout Christian voter, I am extremely disturbed by McCain/Palin (or should I say McCain/Ann Coulter). The extremely conservative views of Ms. Palin will not serve our country well (including teaching religion in public schools via intelligent design for God's sake?! C'mon who's going to teach what the curriculum, Rev. Phelps?!). Also, the fact that the extreme right is ecstatic at Palin suggests to me that the economy is going to be put on the back seat in favor or the latest social issue that social conservatives believe in. It is time to heal this world, to help those in need, and narrow the gap between rich and poor. It is time to wake up and accept that we need to work together once and for all. God forbid something happens to McCain and she's our president?! She's so polarizing! McCain clearly showed poor decision-making in picking her--being pressued by the extreme right-wing. What we end up with is worse than even Bush/Cheney--we end up with a McCain/Coulter!

    • Posted By: oneamerican @ 09/09/2008 11:30:44 AM

Maybe you should run, because neither Obama or McCain will do anything close to what you are hoping for. Our whole plotical process needs to be changed. Term limits need to exist for every elected office. I would also be interested in having a separate election for VP.

      • Posted By: Truthie @ 09/09/2008 3:50:51 PM

Enter Your CommentHelping give insurance to the poor (rather than giving more tax cuts for the rich), not putting the retirement of our seniors at risk by privatizing social security, helping to address global warming, etc.,. That is how Obama is helping appeal to true ???Christian??? ideals.

    • Posted By: Lopez_LL @ 09/09/2008 11:02:15 AM

It's McCain/ PALIN -- please check your information on her economic policies. She has a record of attending to the economy of her state, not pushing creationism.

      • Posted By: Truthie @ 09/09/2008 3:48:31 PM

I think you missed the point, I was suggesting that electing Palin is like electing Ann Coulter. Hence, McCain/Palin = McCain/Coulter.

Democrats don't get it. They have no substance so they have to spread lies to create doubt. What they don't understand is the American people aren't stupid. THESE ARE NOT MY PARENTS DEMOCRATS, these are far left scumbags....

  • Posted By: kirt @ 09/09/2008 1:10:06 PM

McCain says he for tax cuts but that only for the one% then he state Obamo who has a plan to give tax relief is going to raise taxes on the same peole Obama is giving a tax break to. Tell McSame to show the American public any plans that he has. Show a economic plan instead of lies about your oponient.

    • Posted By: RightStuff @ 09/09/2008 1:24:59 PM

Obama is a communist, for gosh sakes. His goal is to take everything we have. Your money represents your liberty, and every dollar that Obama takes from you will reduce your liberty, whether it is direct, or indirect, through taxes on businesses. Obama is not to be trusted, because he is abysmally stupid, and his strings are being pulled by the radical left--read communists.

      • Posted By: TJ21 @ 09/09/2008 3:50:14 PM

and saying Obama is stupid is naive. I would put his and his wife's educational background and general understand up against McCain and Palin's anyday.
Honestly, what do you do for a living? It can't be anything that requires logic or reasoning, I just don't understand where your comments come from. "Obama is a socialist, Obama is a communist". I'm starting to think you don't know what these terms mean.

    • Posted By: valark @ 09/09/2008 1:20:47 PM

Obama's plan is to tax the upper 5% of Americans and give it to the 95% remaining. He has said so publicly. His views and plans are socialist, he wants to take money from people who earned it and give it to people who haven't. If that is your idea of positive change then you are idiotic. What do you think happens to those resources when they get taxed unfairly? Do you think they remain here? Do you think they remain fluid? Do you think large companies will have room for more jobs when they have to pay to support some person who can't be bothered to get a job or lives beyond their means?

Everyone has a right to have shelter and food and water, basic needs. There are already tons of programs to assist people in need and if they need more money, it should come from all of us, not just a "rich tax". The people who want to overtax the rich are the ones who wish they didn't have to work and want to sit around the pool or TV all day long. The facts are that the rich are the ones who create jobs, stimulate the economy and make the largest contributions to charities and non-profits. If you want to tax these people so you can make some sort of socialist balance, then don't start crying when the money moves to better places and there is nothing to tax.

      • Posted By: TJ21 @ 09/09/2008 1:38:41 PM

What money are you talking about? We are so over leveraged in this country, it's not even funny. The trickle down effect isn't working because we have exhausted all of our resources into this war. Housing prices are still dropping (even though there is light at the end of the tunnel) and then credit market is a joke. How do you propose we fix this? Do you want to continue with the republican plan of "let's leave it for our children to deal with?" Tell me how we are producing jobs right now? and give me a plan of how we are going to pay back China for the billions we are borrowing from them? Let's instead worry about the 5% and how they aren't happy. I understand there are people that ask for handouts but they are still part of this country. Leaving them behind isn't the answer.

        • Posted By: RightStuff @ 09/09/2008 1:51:51 PM

You are a hopeless Marxist. Study your US Constitution sometime. Progressive taxes are Marxist, and the goal is to establish a utopia where we are "equal". It has worked nowhere in the world where it has been tried.

          • Posted By: TJ21 @ 09/09/2008 3:31:57 PM

Where do I begin. Where in what I wrote did I say anything about being equal genius? I said not leaving the less fortunate behind. You can help the less fortunate without giving them everything. There is a big difference. Obviously I can't ask YOU to read the constitution and understand it if you obviously can't read and comprehend at the same time. Maybe you should go over to nickelodeon.com and discuss politics. How do you debate points if you don't understand?

  • Posted By: PatriotGames55 @ 09/09/2008 2:58:53 PM

Obama has been getting "Slimed" by the right for almost two years. Yet, there have been very few news articles devoted to the lies being spread about him and his positions on the real issues that face all of us. Rush Limbaugh goes on the air spreading lies for three hours a day and nothing is said of that. We need a national/international publication like Newsweek to write a story that talks of False Internet rumors about Palin. What about the False Internet rumors being spread about Obama? You could start right here in this thread... http://obamapolitics.com/

    • Posted By: rarecommentator @ 09/09/2008 3:49:56 PM

Obama has not been slimed. Obama has not been investigated. Because he has not been investigated by the MSM, his background has been mis-interpreted by some on some fronts. The scary thing is that some of the "slime" is and has turned out to be true, yet remains uninvestigated. We are just told, its not relevant. You can't complain when you ignore something in your past that might be controversial when it gets overblown when found out by opponents. Being forthright and truthful would solve a lot of problems...Isn't that what we have been screaming at the Bush administration about? Nice job, though....we have nominated a guy that has so little grasp of the truth, that we will probably never see his lies coming. Of course, its not like OUR party hasn't done this before. Clinton. Kerry. I am disillusioned that the most qualified candidate was thrown under the bus by the far left wing. I see nothing in Barak that is responsible leadership, based upon what were consistently Democratic values, like labor, education, eradication of poverty, social safety nets, and the like. Now we have become a party of socially progressive intellectuals that want to reform America. I want change in Washington, but I like America, and I still believe the majority of Democrats share a common philosophy. Those of you lobbing molotov cocktails at Palin, McCain, and the media, are deepening the divide. You are everything that Obama syas that he stands against. Keep it up, and there will be more of those who think like me. Do you really want a Democratic party that has Keith Olbermann as its voice? Or Pelosi. Why not Clinton? Bill or Hillary? Boxer? Why not Edwards? Why not Gore? Why not Clesea (I was impressed with her as an up and comer!!! Bottom line, this party is quickly throwing this election away like it did four years ago. I beginning to wonder what's the point?

    • Posted By: oneamerican @ 09/09/2008 3:20:34 PM

The reason Newsweek published this article is to draw readership. Why would NBC, MSNBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, Washinton Post, NY Times use their space to debunk Palin rumors and lies? They are busy spreading them. People are tired of hearing them. They turned to Newsweek hoping for at least a little fairness. This article is that, at least a little fair. Smart move financially for Newsweek.

It his going on one full week since Palin has becom the Vice Presidential candidate and, yet, she has never spoken to the press or answered questions about what she stands for. All she has done is campaign with Mr. McCain and given "stump speeches" which have mostly consisted of throwing barbs at the Democratic candidates which have included many comments which have been completely false or distorted. So, anytime a question is asked those supporting her they reply she is being bashed in the media or by the other candidates, critics, etc.. How do we make a choice? By her looks, her glasses, size of family or other such trivia? And any time her previous record or beliefs are brought to the public, it is labeled lies, etc. McCain's campaign knows that as long as they can keep this "swirling around" then the longer it will take her record such as it is to become public so that people may make a knowledgleable choice.
