      yup. and on the other side of the coin we have the conservative news channels spouting the mccain lies and propaganda. i think by this point its pretty obvious that the media is split just about as deeply as the people. moral of the story: learn to think for yourselves. both candidates have good qualities, bad qualities, and a blanket of lies and irrelevant banter surrounding them as a result of the media. the way i see it the choice is simple for this election: mccain = continuing war, economic catastrophe, and the quick establishment of a true police state (not that we're far from that now), while obama = imporved global image for our country, less american soldiers dying, and the potential for a temporary reprieve from the government's power hungry agenda.

    McCain the HERO was nothing more than a HORRIBLE pilot, that shouldn't have been flying anything in combat. Before he got shot down in 'Nam, he had already lost 4 PLANES!! What Pilot do you know can loose 4 aircraft and still be sent out on a mission in where he lost the 5th!!
    I admire his survival as a POW...that doesn't make him "more American" or more qualified than anybody else. ....It makes him a bad pilot.

      Jealous much! Cindy McCains father was a decorated WWII veteran who was born poor. He was self made millionaire with as colorful a past as Joe Pa Kennedy. It so weird how everyone loves a success story, but people are just as quick to be jealous of that success.

Stop asking everyone to become poor because some people are. Rather, you should encourage the poor to take personal responsibility, get an education, become part of the 21st century world economy, and work hard to achieve their own success. That is America!!

Most people would give their right arm to send their children to Ivy league, school, but to some people that is a minus. Go figure.           BHO is an empty suit marketed by the liberal media. At least GWB has convictions and is unwavering for what he believes in. I can't tell what BHO stands for - it changes every time the poll numbers are released.

    Senator Obama has been vetted thoroughly and over-the-top for 20 months. Palin is just new on the block with a thin resume. The minimum requirement is that she is honest. After investigation, it was found that her speech at the convention did not have one single truth in it about Obama! She has admitted not knowing about Iraq or Foreign Affairs, so presumably she didn't know about Obama either. She said the speech that was written for her. But it was dishonest and very public.

    The 'truth" about Obama has had plenty of time to come out. Maybe we should elect your neighbour without any checking at all and give him/her a free pass?

    Who is paying you guys to say such foul things about a US Senator? It is worth checking into. Maybe I will.

        Obama has been vetted for 20 months by all the media, right and left on the Campaign Trail for the Presidential election of the US.
        He is a US Senator since 2004.
        He was in the Illinois Senate for years before that.
        One of the most prominent 9/11 National Security officials backed him a long time ago.
        He is vetted. He is vetted. He is vetted.

          How do these sentences validate your statement that Obama was vetted? if he had been vetted to the extent Palin has by the media, we would have seen interviews with his kids school teachers cousins, at least 50 of those in the communities he organized, 10 or 11 doctors testing the IQ of the average kid of mulritracial heritage living in 5 countries and attending numerous private and ivy league schools

          If he is fully vetted you should know the answers to these questions:

          Obama is an admitted cocaine user. When is the last time he snorted the stuff? He is addicted to nicotine. Don't we have the right to know if he is addicted to any other substance?
          He stated Bill Ayers is a friend of his. What is his relationship, why did he associate with an admitted terrorist bomber of the Pentagon?
          Why did he let his children listen to Black Theology and racist speech in a church he sat in for 20 years?
          What was his relationship with Resko when over $1.4 million was given to him for multi family housing that is now boarded up?
          He help "Acorn" register voters when he was a "community orgainizer." This organization is well known for voter registration fraud. Was he involved in any of this type acitivity?

          None of this has been vetted and you know it. All he does is scream racism and call it politics as usual.

    THE HEADLINE OF THIS STORY IS VERY MISLEADING. Once you read the details in pages 2, 3, and 4 the truth comes out (again). According to THIS very article: 1) Palin attended AIP conventions and her husband was a member until 2002. 2) Palin believes creationism should be taught in our schools. 3) Palin asked the Wasilla librarian to pull the books and fired the librarian as part of a "loyalty test." 4) Who cares about Pay Buchanan? AND 5) I'm not aware of the special education cut, but she sure slashed $1,100,000 in funding to teenage mothers!!!!! Did your little story forget about that?

        If a school district wants to include Creationism, it should be an elective or part of Social Studies (since it is a cultural study), I don't believe it should be taught as a direct comparative to the theory of Evolution.

        Creationism is not science nor history. It has no factual basis. It is a purely faith based belief. Thus, it should only be taught as a part of that particular faith.

        Evolution, however, is a proven scientific fact. Evolution happens around us every day. Antibiotic resistance, mutating flu virus (which is why you have to get your shot every year), common cold (multiple forms of a few differnt viruses, etc. We just don't think about it the same.

        This is not an "up for discussion" topic. Creationism, written in Genesis, is a subjective account of the beginning of mankind. Greek Mythology sees it differently. While mythology is still taught in schools today, it is done from a historical perspective to understand the life and times of the people who wrote it, and comes with the overwhelming obviousness that the events are fictional. If we approached Creationism with the same logic, it would be understandable to teach it as an understanding of the times. However, this is not the motivation of the evangelicals, for they see it as historically accurate truth, and that is just wrong.

The fact is that Palin only re-hired Mary Ellen Emmons after just about the whole town went into an uproar over the firing of this popular librarian! She also said that Irv Stambaugh "intimidated" her. I knew Irv...a nicer man you'd never find! Don't be fooled! There's a trail of carnage in the form of ruined careers and ruined lives that this woman has left in her wake. Make no mistake: this woman will do ANYTHING to ANYBODY to get ahead.         That's pretty funny...since I'm a psychologist...anyway, I'm pretty much a moderate, actually, and an Independent FROM ALASKA (which, with all due respect, you obviously are not) who's experienced Palin first hand and who's left with a pretty bad taste in his mouth as a result. Yes, she does (did?) have an 80% approval rating, but Alaska typically goes Republican and is a pretty conservative/libertarian state. I just don't abide by the almost religious zeal that some party faithful (both Dem and Repub) have for their candidates, and feel that nobody's being very objective in their assessments of either Obama or Palin. This rock-star politics is detrimental to the process of selecting a president...all this to say, if you like ruthless, back-stabbing, advance-at-any-cost, kill-them-all-if-they-get-in-the-way politics, then I guess you should vote for Palin.

    The Wasilia librarian WAS fired by Sarah Palin who was forced to let her return to work when people in the commutity rebelled against that decision...
    the mayor also "commander" that her city employees not give any newspaper interviews that she did not ok...

    Palin has done some things that are good--but don't misrepresent what she has done good or bad--
    and the people in Wasilia KNOW that she fired the librarian for personal reasons not because the librarian was derelict in her duties...

        She nearly did! The woman went into labor while in Texas to give a speech. She began leaking amniotic fluid and should have gone to the hospital immediately. (I read an article by a doctor who said she could very easily have contracted an infection due to the leakage and the infection could have endangered, if not killed, the baby). Instead, she gave her speech. Then she went to another function. Finally, she took a plane headed back to Alaska. It had a layover someone in the continental US, then one in Anchorage and she had to change planes to finally get to her hometown. It was more than 12 hours before she got to a hospital to give birth. Her career came first over the life of that poor child. Now what kind of mother is that? After having 4 other children, she should have known better - especially when she knew that child had Downs' Syndrome. Just the kind of mother I'd want!
