The will be plenty of question for Palin just like it was for Obama and McCain it is called politics when I last looked.. Maverick I don't buy from ultra conservatives. So did her husban belong to this group?

Did you see this yet ? (Washington Post)
    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26616212/
Palin bills state for nights at home, kids??? travel
Officials defend reimbursements, but trips with children raise questions.

She bill that state for per diem when she stays in her own home? I wonder if she pays income tax on that per diem, as income?

    • Posted By: gig'em99 @ 09/09/2008 1:02:06 PM

      per diem is not taxable....duh

Yup, I've already received a chain e-mail saying that she is a redneck. It seems to ve passing among a heavy number of black folks, based on who I received it from. Of course, I think it is a colloquial compliment to be called a redneck in Alaska. "Redneck" is getting to be a very affectionate term in Odessa, TX, as it is an oil producing area of the US. Hopefully there will be a whole bunch of rednecks in Alaska and the US in the next two months.

this is ridiculous. re-read the article and you will easily see how they have twisted the issues in question. one example: the article states "She did not demand that books be banned from the Wasilla library.", now it may well be true that she did not DEMAND books be BANNED, but she definitely did ASK the librarian to PULL books from the shelves. This article exemplifies the GOP's denial tactics: take the original statement, change the wording, then deny the re-worded statement... even if the original statement was true. Anyone who honestly believes this load of crap and cannot see through the weak attempts to mask the true seriously needs to consider doing some of their own research and not going on one article from a clearly biased source. One more thing: we, as a country, need to realize that this election is not about obama vs mccain, it is about the people vs the GOP. Just listen to one of mccain's speeches and you will hear the exact same nonsensical rhetoric that bush has been spewing for the past 8 years. Not only does he have the same people writing his speeches, he has the same people pulling his strings. We do not need another puppet in office, if we end up with one this county is done for... welcome to 1984.

The fact that she thinks $73,000 per year per special neesd student is acceptable is the scariest thing i've heard about her yet. When is political correctness going to be tempered with common sense? Think what could be accomplished with those funds if they were not set aside for students with limited abilities? She chose to have a special needs child, so she should not expect the state to foot the bill. For those whom the cicrumstance is thrust upon them, there should be help, but not at fifteen times what a non-special needs child receives. It just makes no sense.

    • Posted By: Giggs5 @ 09/09/2008 11:37:36 AM

Hmmm, a little "Hitleresque" don't you think! Wow, just think how great the world would be if we didn't have to waste money on those dang cripps and retards. You have a dangerous line of thinking, Dr. Mengele. It is not PC to show compassion and understanding that physical or mental requirements vary from person to person, and that different methods need to used to educate different people.

People don't choose to have special needs children, they just choose to not to kill them in utero. Nice spin, Dr.

      • Posted By: nailbunny @ 09/09/2008 12:30:46 PM

It's called abortion, not 'killing in utero'. Stop camping out in front of Planned Parenthood yelling 'baby killer' long enough to do some reading in Biology textbooks. I take issue with anyone that makes me pay 15 times more than I should have to because she can't use contraception when she's 44 and is at extreme risk of having a Down's Syndrome baby.

        • Posted By: Giggs5 @ 09/09/2008 12:55:57 PM

The only time I have been to planned parenthood was to get my birth control pills as a teenager. Don't make assumptions about me or my ideals. You can try to sweeten the abortion process up anyway you want, but it is what it is: stopping a beating heart of a fetus that would otherwise have progressed to viability outside the womb. Terminated, murdered, killed. Incest or rape victems, have at it, ..just don't try to call it by anything other than what it is. And don't ever make generalizations about me or my beliefs, see we don't all fit into your neatly compartmentalized conservative box. Maybe you should stay out of SP's womb, too.

It's people like you that make me wonder if we shouldn't have to take some kind of test to prove we are actually capable of voting. Your logic here proves you are not.

Where is your list of "slimes" against Obama? I am amazed that you can just sort of brush over the fact that this weird conversation between Palin and the local librarian took place in the first place. The only "fact" you brought out was that there wasn't a list of books. A loyalty purge? Wow. Also, what a lame ass attempt on your investigation on the AIP. COME ON! So she didn't sign a membership card. Her husband did for many years! Part of her household income went to support this. You sort blah blah that fact. These people won't say the pledge of allegiance to the American Flag! WEAK. Are you sure your not working for the Palin campaign.

Keep slamming Ms. Palin, it's been great for her poll numbers.

  • Posted By: Bonny COLORADO @ 09/09/2008 11:52:48 AM

I read the Anchorage newspaper online and it is full of gossip that people send in that are not true. The ones mentioned above and many more. One even claimed Palin attended six colleges in six years. I wonder what the Univ. of Idaho has to say about that one. The lies and gossip are getting really bad. Thank you for solving the issues.

uhhh, actually the claim about the number of schools she attended is correct.

Hey there, Brooks Jackson, Jess Henig, Emi Kolawole, Joe Miller and Lori Robertson ...

Just because a book isn't 'in print' does not disprove that someone wouldn't want it in the library. A vast majority of all books in libraries are out of print. That's why we have libraries. So that when they're out of print, we can still find them. If you have a better argument, please put it forward. And, I'm sorry... someone doesn't ask a 'what if' question unless they have an interest in finding out the answer for some reason.

Newsweek: thanks for *starting* to realize that impartiality actually belongs in journalism again. Heed what happened at MSNBC, the Obama network: Olbermann and Matthews got bounced from their political anchor chairs for their biases.

    • Posted By: chehil @ 09/09/2008 11:55:38 AM

This team was okay, but the Fox Team is so biased, it's unbelievable. Shaun Hannity calls himself a conserative, by the way someone needs to look that up to get a true christian meaning. He talks so much with hatered and sarcasism about Obama attacking him on every side, no matter how much Obama has contiuned to show good humility. Something Jesus taugh his followeres. He needs to go back and read the Bible when it talks about how the tongue is the smallest member of the body, but yet it the most defiled. Shaun please read only the "King James Version" it's obviously you're not getting good teaching from the Bible you're reading or you're just not comprehending to lesson.

      • Posted By: Giggs5 @ 09/09/2008 12:42:22 PM

Olbermann and Matthews were news anchors, meaning that were to report the political news, not make it, not spin it, not make biased observations. I have to wonder what Cronkite thinks of all this.

Sean Hannity is a paid opinionator, not a news man. See in this great free country of ours, you have the freedom to watch/listen to Sean or change the channel. Same with O'Reilly. Fox News is the fair and balanced REPORTING entity.

Was Palin ever a stripper? With Meghan McCain telling how her dear old dad once dated a stripper, it now sheds light on why old John disgustingly 'teased' that Cindy participate in the stripper contest at the bikers rally in Sturgis, South Dakota. To even remotely put such a thought in people's heads of a potential first lady is unbelievably stupid and reckless. McCain really will say anything for a vote. I wonder if John will now suggest Palin join Cindy in the stripper contest? I thought no one could ever be as much an idiot as Bush but I see McCain is well on his way.

  • Posted By: Loden Green @ 09/09/2008 12:28:29 PM

We all knew the media was running scared of Sarah Palin, but it now looks like we've got a total cave-in. With the full force of the media behind McCain/Palin, they'll easily sail into the White House. Obama and Biden cannot beat both the GOP and the media.

    • Posted By: oneamerican @ 09/09/2008 12:41:29 PM

If you are not joking you are seriously brain-washed on the Obama kool-aid

Nice how you left out the minor detail of her husband being a member of the AIP for seven years, off and on. Palin's attendance at some of their gatherings holds more significance when you understand that her spouse was a registered member.

  • Posted By: cjsismoi @ 09/09/2008 12:27:15 PM

I find it incredibly interesting that Newsweek would go through the detail of "fact-checking" every statement ever issued about Palin. However, as a long-time subscriber, where was this level of fact-checking when rumors (lies) abounded (and continue to abound) about Barack Obama? There were many issues that could have been put to bed very early on if you were really trying make some attempt at being "fair and balanced". I'm really sick of the media trying to make Palin out to be something she is not out of fear you will be critized for being sexist. She deservers no more "protection" than anyone else in this race. Shame on you Newsweek!!

: Giuliani also said McCain had been a fighter pilot. Actually, McCain's plane was the
: A-4 Skyhawk, a small bomber. It was the only plane he trained in or flew in combat,
: according to McCain's own memoir.

This is your example of "twisting facts"? Even assuming the point to be valid, it's a pretty pathetic example. But of course, just like so many of your other assertions, this example is based on opinion rather than fact. The Skyhawk is not a "small bomber" as you assert. Like most Navy aircraft, this aircraft is dual-function, serving primarily as a fighter with the ability to carry bombs or missiles. Its technical classification is A-4, making it technically an "attack aircraft", neither fighter nor bomber.

Palin may never have actually sigen up for to Alaskqa Independence Party, but her husband was a member for more than 8 years.

I didn't realize Todd Palin was running for office. BTW, why is Michelle Obama being kept out of the public eye for the most part? Hmmmm?

      • Posted By: Huberc @ 09/09/2008 11:43:34 AM

Michelle is hardly out of the public eye. She has been interviewed and investigated over and over and over. If she were a memeber of a group that thought Illinois should form its own country, trust me, she would have been raked over the coals. Her off handed comment that she was just now very proud of her country was a feeding frenzy. A cessesionist group? Isn't that treason?

You mean like appearing on "Ellen" yesterday? Speaking at the National Baptist Convention tomorrow? Hosting a working women's roundtable in Indiana this week? For being kept out of sight, she sure is making a lot appearances.

        • Posted By: Cimarron @ 09/09/2008 12:06:35 PM

LOL - who the heck watches "Ellen?" Or any daytime television for that matter? Mindless drivel, over-the-top talk shows and soap operas. Other than Ellen, what interviews have been nationally televised or otherwise broadcast besides the DNC? Magazine interviews?

Should Barrack Obama divorce his wife. We couldn't have a first lady who was educated at both Yale and Harvad not be proud of America, could we?

  • Posted By: TStew @ 09/09/2008 12:22:38 PM

Just because the list is bogus, doesn't mean the attempt to "ban" books by Palin, and her consequent attempt to fire the librarian, is not true. You'd better check your fact checking.
