Sliming Palin

The funny part about this article is that it tries to debunk the rumor's that really wouldn't affect the American people if she were elected. Let's weed throught these rumors look at the one's where the American people would be greatly affected. How about the fact that she completely lied about her support for the "bridge to nowhere"! She DID support it and when she found out it was going to be politically unpopular to do so while running for Gov. of Alaska. She then supported dumping it, but still took a good portion of the money anyway. This is a woman who has hired political lobbiest Steven Silver to do nothing but get earmark's from the government for her state. This is a woman who took earmark money to build a gymnasium for Wasilla when the town was crying for a water and sewer treatment plant! Now it has a gym and a new parking lot but no water treatment plant. How about the fact that Wasilla had a budget surplus when she took office and is now swimming in 20+ million dollars in debt! How about the many video's of her in church, in JUNE of this year, preaching about the war in Iraq being GOD's will and the soldier's fighting GOD's plan. This a woman, who in the very next breath, told everyone that the new oil pipeline would be GOD's will! This woman may be smart but she obviously cannot keep church and state seperated. What about the fact that she has the same attitude towards people who disagree with her as George W. Bush! You are either with her or against her, no middle ground! If you actually compare policy, attitude and experience she is more aligned with Bush than McCain is. Let's face it folk's, as much as you may want to believe, there is nothing "MAVERICK" about either McCain or Palin. If you get down to the FACTS about her, her record and her policy's then there is doubting where she stand's, right next to Bush!. The handful of FACTS that this article does not address are enough to make you think twice about her regardless of age, sex or religion. This woman doesn't even know the simple economic fundamental's about Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and she want's to help set economic policy in this country? She may be pretty and a good mom, but that doesn't excuse her from getting on t.v. and telling lies to the American people about her record. Let's face it folk's, McCain and Palin are anything but "change"!

Left wingers are against Palin because she is representative of the REAL AMERICA's PEOPLE. Obama is representative of the sorts of Jackson, Sharpton, Wright, etc. All 3 idiots, plus the rest of the sewer gangs.

Thanks Newsweek for publishing this accurate date. The shrill tones and sliming of Governor Sarah Palin will only hurt the Dems in the end. Respect everyone's write to vote for the candidate of their own choosing, but not the smears and the (untrue) stories perpetuated by some in the media. Soledad are you listening?

Palin is pro-life, even in the case of rape, and opposes same-sex marriage and favors the discussion of creationism alongside evolution in schools. But she hasn't pushed for legislative changes in any of those areas.

The Associated Press reported Sept 3: "Palin's children attend public schools and Palin has made no push to have creationism taught in them. ... It reflects a hands-off attitude toward mixing government and religion by most Alaskans."

She even vetoed a bill that would have denied benefits to employees in same-sex relationships because she said it was unconstitutional.

That says plenty. It shows she knows the limits of government, and believes that government isn't there to tell us what to do.

Obama seems more inclined to use government to control what choices we have than Palin does.

To have those out there who try to peruade others through untrauthful reporting is sick. Reporting on innuendos and lies expose the sources for what they are. Thanks for revealing right from wrong and helping us to vote on the side of truth and justice.

Wow. If Newsweek were really interested in posting facts, they would have included the multiple postings on Factcheck.org which attest to McCain and Palin's twisting facts in their convention speeches. From Palin's own speech:

Sarah Palin???s much-awaited speech at the Republican National Convention on Wednesday night may have shown she could play the role of attack dog, but it also showed her to be short on facts when it came to touting her own record and going after Obama???s.

We found Rudy Giuliani, who introduced her, to be as factually challenged as he sometimes was back when he was in the race. But Mike Huckabee may have laid the biggest egg of all.
Palin may have said ???Thanks, but no thanks??? on the Bridge to Nowhere, though not until Congress had pretty much killed it already. But that was a sharp turnaround from the position she took during her gubernatorial campaign, and the town where she was mayor received lots of earmarks during her tenure.
Palin???s accusation that Obama hasn???t authored ???a single major law or even a reform??? in the U.S. Senate or the Illinois Senate is simply not a fair assessment. Obama has helped push through major ethics reforms in both bodies, for example.
The Alaska governor avoided some of McCain???s false claims about Obama???s tax program ??? but her attacks still failed to give the whole story.
Giuliani distorted the time line and substance of Obama???s statements about the conflict between Russia and Georgia. In fact, there was much less difference between his statements and those of McCain than Giuliani would have had us believe.
Giuliani also said McCain had been a fighter pilot. Actually, McCain???s plane was the A-4 Skyhawk, a small bomber. It was the only plane he trained in or flew in combat, according to McCain???s own memoir.
Finally, Huckabee told conventioneers and TV viewers that Palin got more votes when she ran for mayor of Wasilla than Biden did running for president. Not even close. The tally: Biden, 79,754, despite withdrawing from the race after the Iowa caucuses. Palin, 909 in her 1999 race, 651 in 1996.

Clearly, Newsweek has an agenda in not also including this information from the original site!

it is amazing to me how you all can support someone that you barely know but Obama has been in the media for 18 mths and you all still claim you don't know him. let's call this what it really is and it's not about the issues. Newsweek, when are you going to print the lies that have been printed about Barrack Obama that Palin, McCain and the internet have claimed. Obama had to start his own website so that the we could get the facts. Now you want to come to the rescue of Palin. I wish the media would remain neutral and print THE FACTS!!!

I read the Anchorage newspaper online and it is full of lies and gossip that people have emailed in. Many appear to be written by jealous or sick minded individuals with no facts to back up their gossip at all. One even said Palin attended six colleges in six years. As a U of I graduate, I know that the U of Idaho is not six colleges. Thanks for claify all of the gossip. Now, if only the press and TV reporters would get it right and do what your are doing.
