The list may be false, but your interpretation of the fact pertaining to "book banning" seems pretty generous:
"Time reported last week, for example, that Palin asked the Wasilla librarian, Mary Ellen Baker, about the process for banning books. Baker was reportedly "aghast" at the question. Palin dismissed Baker for not Giving her "full support."

  • Posted By: CITADEL4U @ 09/09/2008 9:11:49 AM

Sorry, but where there's smoke there's fire. She did ask the librarian about banning books. That's a fact!! The librarian refused. She did raise taxes on the local city, because she diverted a local sales tax to other purposes. Thereby, creating an indirect tax increase. She did favor the "Bridge to No Where," before the fraud was exposed and she ran from it. She did receive funds from Vesco the same company that got Ted Stevens indicted. Alaska gets the most money from Washington, per person, than any other State, making Palin the biggest Ear Mark Governor in America!

As they say: "you can put makeup on a pig any way you want too, but at the end of the day, you still have a pig." And in this case: Palin is certainly still a PORK BARREL PIG!!!

Considering the oil in Alaska allows you to have all the luxuries you do like transportation and I job, I would quit whining about how much federal money they get per captia. Maybe we should measure it in square mileage instead. I can see the fear in the democrats on this board, trying everything, no matter how ruthless to smear Palin's character. If you all remember is was Hillary's team that brought up all the stuff about Obama, not the republicans. Human nature says use what is available in your campaign. I don't see them digging into Biden or Obama's past now

Its amazing. They have the facts laid out in front of them and STILL they continue stating false rumors. I dont think Obama is a muslim. I know he isnt especially considering who his wife is there is no way a muslim man would tolerate a woman that spoke so publicly. However im more concerned with his ties to Chicago politics, to the fact that all he did was use his Senator seat as a stepping stone to the presidency, and that he is pretty far left of center in his political views. Not to mention what really turned me off to him were his supporters. The rabid drooling, cultist supporters of Obama scared me from voting for the guy. Id sooner vote for Bin Laden than Obama, at least Bin Laden's supporters are a little more tolerant of any truths being told about their leader.

    "Where there's Smoke, there's fire..."

Yeah, but the question is, who started it? Why did it burn? Was it necessary (a controlled burn.) You clearly want to make all sorts of assumptions, but try to keep an open mind. Do you think she had every access to all the informatin about the Bridge to Nowhere BEFORE she became governor? Is it possible that she suppoted it before all the facts were known, and then once the truth came out, she shut it down?

When it comes to Obama, I don't assume he's evil. Far from it. He's simply naive and inexperienced. Maybe you could also start from the assumption that Palin is not evil, and see where it leads you.

IT WAS POSTED ON A DEMOCRAT WEB SITE THAT PALIN DID STOP THE BRIDGE TO NOWHERE HERE'S THE LINK http://www.retireted.com/category/real-estate/gravina-bridge/ THIS IS A DEMOCRAT PAID POSTING READ THE BOTTOM OF THE SITE WHERE ALL DISCLAIMERS ARE LISTED IT'S TITLED RETIRE TED THIS IS WHEN SARAH PALIN WAS RUNNING AGAINST MURKOWSKI AND THEIER DEMOCRAT NOMINEE THE AD WAS USED AGAINST THE REPUBLICANS IN A EFFORT TO UNSEAT THE REPUBLICANS FROM THE GOVENORSHIP OF ALASKA ! OBAMA IS ON A SLIPPERY SLOPE AGAINST PALIN AND HAS NO HOPE OF CUTTING HER DOWN . HE HAS SENT 130 LAWYERS TO ALASKA IN THE LAST 10 DAYS AND HAVE GOT NOTHING THAT WOULD MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE ON HER !! HAHAHAHAHHHHAA NO OBAMA !!

      • Posted By: max in fl @ 09/09/2008 9:56:31 AM

All that means is that Palin knows where to bury the bodies. Whenever the investigation gets to close the investigator get fired...it's the Republican WAY.

Why do you think Palin's daughter's boyfriend looked so scared at the convention? He knows what lurks beneath that smile. Worse case scenario we will too.

        • Posted By: oneamerican @ 09/09/2008 11:07:38 AM

It seems to me that if Palin see trouble, she leaves, like her old church, the AIP, the Bridge to nowhere. Obama however stays in his church for 20 years, then convenient leaves when it helps him politically, has his Ayers and Rezco affiliations to this day, criticizes the living daylights out of Hillary then begs for help when he sees he is beginning to lose the women vote he so arrogantly thought was his right as opposed to a privilege. Did you ever think that Palin's future son-in-law was a little nervous about being on national TV for the first time? In case you haven't noticed, every administration in history at every level of government brings in their own people to fill most of the positions. Do some research before spewiing you evil venom next time.

ha-ha! - the liberal "meltdown" has begun. why do liberals (not all democrats) always play the victim and posses a defeatist mentality? I think they like being able to scream and kick and cry after losing. "it's not fair, it's not fair"....reminds me of a 4 year old throwing a fit in the cereal aisle at the grocery store because they didn't get what they want. Americans by and large love our country, are self motivated go getters, and have a spirit of rugged individualism. until democrats understand and support that, they will continue to lose. but then again....wouldn't that just make them republicans? should Obama win? won't see me complaining; I will succeed no matter who is in office. I was better off after Clinton was in office, I am better off with Bush in office, and I will be better off with whoever takes office in January (but I???m still voting for McCain/Palin!) :)

I keep hearing about Palin supporting education but did she ever graduate from college? So far it appears her education is on the job training which if fine if she had more years under her belt,

    • Posted By: tennismom @ 09/09/2008 10:20:06 AM

She graduated with a degree in political science and journalism from the University of Idaho.

      • Posted By: Huberc @ 09/09/2008 10:35:38 AM

If she had and MBA or an MS in economics or a Law degree or went to a really top knotch school or traveled the world extensively or SOMETHING, I would be less worried. A BA from Univ of Idaho is not all that impressive. I know I'm in Higher ed.

        • Posted By: KyleCope @ 09/09/2008 11:03:31 AM

"Top Knotch". Still kills me. Score one for "higher ed."

        • Posted By: KyleCope @ 09/09/2008 11:01:34 AM

This from someone who says "top knotch"? Higher ed or special ed?

  • Posted By: is_graves @ 09/09/2008 10:04:13 AM

    Jils I have to wonder...
If thats how you feel about "Liberals", since we are apparently a an undifferentiated hive intelligence, what do conservatives stand for? Or I should say neo-conservatives, because conservatives in the traditional sense (read: responsible, intelligent) seem to exist no longer. I find it hard to believe that you "keep asking" Obama supporters why they like him and "NO ONE" can answer the question. I assume you support Palin-McCain, but why? Do you have a reasonable answer to that, or just more sarcasm?

    • Posted By: loadnabox @ 09/09/2008 11:02:25 AM

Since I took a survey recently I'll respond with answers similar to my ones there:

1.) Economics, McCain-Palin understand global economics better than Obama. Obama wants to go to a protectionist economic policy which as you are taugth in Micro-Economics 101 has NEVER in the history of the world produced the desired results (stronger home economy)

2.) National Security- Like it or not the constitution does NOT provide protections to enemy combatants of foreign nations. Demanding and insisting that allowing them this basic right is an important part of this document as Obama has is short-sighted and dangerous. McCain Palin have stated their views clearly on this.

3.) Gun rights - Every instance of removing guns from citizens in recorded history have conclusively proven that it leads to more crime and violence, not less. Look at the US cities with the highest crime... guess what, guns are banned. McCain and Palin are on the right side of this.

These are just three things, I could go on and write an article twice the size of this newsweek's reporters on why I have made my choice of candidates, but hopefully I have disproved your claim. Yes, I have very good reasons why I like McCain and Palin.... your turn, why do you like Obama?

If the Republicans can try to link Obama to Rezko because the Rezko was AFTER Obama since 1990 when Obama first turned him down then why not find out more about Palin. She may or may not have been a member but she did SPEAK on several ocassions. Her husband WAS a member. If Obama was a speaker at the Trinity church (where Rev Wright's OVERALL speech pertained to social injustice NOT Anti American rhetoric) who knows what he would be accused of. So far the Republican. have been Karl Roving Obama by guilt by association rhetoric while themselves being directly involved in scandals. They are constantly deflecting anything bad about them by throwing smoke grenades by bringing up Rezko.

Meanwhile the only change McCain will bring about is CHANGING his MESSAGE to whatever is working. He notices Obama platform of change was effective so HE starts to use it. He is using key points in Obama's speechs and adds that he served his country or he was a POW.

The lobbyist OWN McCain so only the issues not important to his lobbyist will be removed. It is funny when you think about it, the Republicans tried to destroy Bill Clinton for his indiscretions but want to elect one that has proven he not to old for a little hanky panky...where is Vicky these days anyway?

    • Posted By: oneamerican @ 09/09/2008 11:01:23 AM

It seems Obama is changing his message and whole strategy by sending Hillary and others to counter Plain. Neve have I seen this much campaigning against a VP nominee! Also changing his stance on the surge, drilling and finally admitting that the democratic congress is to blame as well for the mortgage fiasco, after McCain said his party made mistakes. Obama will say anything for votes.

It is important to investigate reported activities and allegations of the presidential candidates, and to investigate them thoroughly, even if those activities and allegations prove to be unfounded or innocent in nature. This writer seems to have done a good job on Palin. Given the seriousness of the allegations and alleged activities of Obama, it seems that there would be a concerted effort to examine these things as well. Is anyone looking into his past?

Bully for Newsweek for getting to the bottom of some of these slimey smears that many of the so-called major media have been fed and have run with. This woman has changed the course of the election. The shift in all the major polls has been swift and dramatic. The Obama people had best be more thick skinned about what's comng out. They've had a great ride to sainthood -- up to now.

  • Posted By: solipsism @ 09/09/2008 10:59:36 AM

I find it puzzling as to why the media never disputed "rumors" about Obama. No mention of her church and it's views that the Jews are facing a judgement in Israel for not accepting Jesus. Rev. Wright story ran for months. And the right says there is a left leaning media bias?

  • Posted By: whipple @ 09/09/2008 10:49:35 AM

Let's be fair and impartial Newsweek reporters. You are treating Palin, McCain and the Republican party like Saints. Far from the truth. All your reporters did was put out negative things about Senator Obama. Let's put out some things about Palin regarding her ties with lobbyists and her lack of experience.

    • Posted By: satinj @ 09/09/2008 10:59:32 AM

I totally agree with you. ANYTHING that could be uncovered about Obama, true or not, was plastered all over the news. Now, we print things about Palin and then 'take them back'? And then the McCain campaign says 'sexism' - come on now, no one was sticking up for Hillary - and when you decide to join the 'game' you have to deal with what is dealt to you. If she didn't want to be criticized she shouldn't be playing. We have done it with our other canidates, why not her? I agree with whipple, lets look at her for what she is and what she believes in and represents.

  • Posted By: gary99 @ 09/09/2008 10:59:13 AM

It's interesting how you downplay the very idea of whether the librarian would be open to removing books (i.e. banning books) as part of a "loyalty test". Republicans are supposedly to be for freedom except when they're not. Loyalty test or not, that is a question that shouldn't be asked at all.

  • Posted By: Loud'n'Proud @ 09/09/2008 10:58:45 AM

Wow, I'm not sure if I've ever seen a more collective group of intellectual midgets with bigger axes to grind against holographic boogeymen. First, Ann Coulter is an author and political commentator, and doesn't represent herself as a "concerned citizen from Wasilla who knows Sarah Palin." She is not hiding behind a clandestine email, Coulter cites her sources thoroughly and supports her claims. Too bad when she shows up in public, people who disagree with her would rather put a pie in her face than actually listen.

DavidKnows - you're really gonna have to find a better vent and focus for that hostility. I worry for you. If McCain wins, who knows what that would do to your mental stability. If Obama wins, that's even scarier, because then you'll have no one to blame. If you want to reprimand the people that gave us 8 years of George Bush, that's fine. Although, according to the polls, the same people aren't quite ready to elect Obama. But that makes me feel better - not for our country - for you. Like I said, I'm more worried about you than what either of these two guys will do in the next 4 years.

Last but not least, ImpartialThinker, I'm puzzled as to why you're not thrilled. You'll have a special needs advocate in the White House looking out for your needs and the needs of people like you. Buck up, little camper. Eventhough I'm writing, I'm going to speak slow, so even you can understand. When you TRIPLE something, you INCREASE it in size by THREE TIMES. That means if you had one dollar and tripled that dollar, you would now have three. Not sure what telling the other kids about the baby's condition before it is born has much to do with anything, or the fact that Palin expressed some vulnerability about her ability as a parent caring for a special needs child. Ultimately, I guess she does have faith. Probably something that helped her through a trying time. Kinda what faith does, no? Silly me, what am I talking about, of course you understand.

    We're about done here, right?

  • Posted By: Journalism 101 @ 09/09/2008 10:55:44 AM

Bully for Newsweek. The Dems don't like this article because it's the tip of the iceberg about what's REALLY going to be coming out by the media concerning Palin. After months of fondling over Barack Obama (virtually bestowing sainthood on him) perhaps things are starting to change. I may even start up my subscription after many years.

Not a single conservative would try, or need to, discredit the left since they are doing such a wonderful job at it themselves. They obviously can't even face the truth when is is slapping them in the face

Absolutely not, but, why would the smarter ones be spouting out all of the misinformation they have heard or read from extreme left media sources and taken at face value instead of verifying the facts from fiction before coming out like a rabid dog. As with the first comment I read where the commenter gave praise for the piece but still insisted on voting for BHO, (as an IT person, a BHO, (browser helper object), is a small program that quietly sits in the background waiting until it can seize an opportunity to take control.) There's one of the smarter ones though they seem to be numbering few.

Yes, because there was never any conservatives trying to mess up the democratic primaries by voting for Clinton under "Operation Chaos".
