McCain who called his own wife C**T is offended by lipstick remark. What kind of bull is that? Why are the news media even discussing that? Do they lack intellect to discuss the real issues like stock marked, a barometer of economy is going down the tube, and the war is Afghanistan is going so badly. Seven years into the war, billions of dollars spent and or wasted, many American lives lost, McCain and Bush continue to insist they are winning the war when the Secretary of Defence and his General just yesterday admitted that the victory is nowhere in sight and in fact things are going badly. What is wrong with you people talking of lipstick? News media is failing, the Americans, as much if not more than Bush/McCain.

Well, the timing is suspect. Sarah Palin signs "historic" legislation to increase funding for special education in March of this year. Her special needs child was born in April of this year. While she's slashing many other programs this one increasing by about 300% in the next 3 years. A little suspicious.

Newsweek is leaving out a big part of the story. While lies and innuendos about Obama (his religion, his citizenship, flags at the Democratic convention, his friendships) are reported by major information outlets like Fox and Rush Limbaugh, the stories about Palin rarely leave the blogosphere and when they do, they're short lived.

Obama, in his own actions and positions as a State Senator (voted merely ???present??? so many times in the State Senate, but voted no defending the Born Alive Abortion Protection Act there), in his own actions and positions as a US Senator (spent only 144 days on the job before beginning his campaign for the President, but in those short days was recognized as the Senator with the furthest left record), and particularly in his own willful associations of long standing with hateful, racists individuals like Jeremiah Wright (who preached ???Not God bless American, No, No, No, God Damn America!) to Obama and his children, and with the likes of Bill Ayers, the unrepentant, arrogant, and militantly anti-American political connection where Obama kicked off his own political career, who bomber the US Pentagon, the US Capitol, and NY City Police Headquarters and then claimed in an interview published on 911 that his only regret was that he had not done enough???no with such actions and such associations (not to mention Toni Rezco, Pleger, and others), Obama has proven that his change is precisely the type we do not want or need in Washington.

Did you mention that Palin was a 20 year member of a Pentacostal church in Alaska? Just in case people don't know Pentacostals like to speak in tongues and play with snakes. They are also virulently anti-Semitic.

Why not mention Palin's long association with AIP, in which her husband was a long time member and for which she hosted a number of events? I guess America is not good enough for her, she would rather be Queen of Alaska. Isn't she proud of her country? (I mean the US, not the nation of Alaska.)

      • Posted By: Cimarron @ 09/10/2008 11:54:12 AM

You know, having been brought up in the Catholic Church, I am quite aware that people often make false claims about religions they know nothing about ... I had to "educate" my in-laws out of their long held beliefs that Catholic worshiped idols and the devil in our services. I have a hard time believing any Christian faith would be anti-Semitic ... after all, Jesus was a Jew.

We are at war with terrorists, and you want to put a terrorist's friend in the White House?

        • Posted By: chindogu @ 09/10/2008 2:16:36 PM

Oh ho ho, you have no idea. Many of the fundamentalist churches are more/less anti-Semetic. I grew up being told that "the Jews killed Jesus" and that's mild compared to some. Part of it is the fact that most of the areas where fundamentalism has its strongest hold are also areas that are just basically xenophobic, and in which Jews are underrepresented.

Any kind of fanaticism is a breeding ground for blind hatred, and religion is no exception.

You should really read more about Obama's record. It truly blows everyone out of the water. Here's just a little bit from wikipedia ... He graduated magna *** laud from Harvard Law School ... McCain graduated bottom of his class and Palin took like 6years to finish college. If I'm going for surgery I want the best damn surgeon possible, same goes for President. Social issues aside. He's smart as hell and has the RIGHT JUDGMENT FOR AMERICA!!

Obama introduced two initiatives bearing his name: "Lugar???Obama," which expanded the Nunn???Lugar cooperative threat reduction concept to conventional weapons,[58] and the "Coburn???Obama Transparency Act," which authorized the establishment of www.USAspending.gov, a web search engine.[59] On June 3, 2008, Senator Obama, along with Senators Carper, Coburn and McCain, introduced follow-up legislation: Strengthening Transparency and Accountability in Federal Spending Act of 2008.[60]

Obama sponsored legislation requiring nuclear plant owners to notify state and local authorities of radioactive leaks.[61] In December 2006, President Bush signed into law the "Democratic Republic of the Congo Relief, Security, and Democracy Promotion Act," marking the first federal legislation to be enacted with Obama as its primary sponsor.[62] In January 2007, Obama co-sponsored the Honest Leadership and Open Government Act, which was signed into law in September 2007.[63] He introduced S. 453, a bill to criminalize deceptive practices in federal elections.[64] Obama also introduced the Iraq War De-Escalation Act of 2007.[65]

Obama and Richard Lugar visit a Russian mobile launch missile dismantling facility[66]Later in 2007, Obama sponsored an amendment to the Defense Authorization Act adding safeguards for personality disorder military discharges.[67] He sponsored the "Iran Sanctions Enabling Act" supporting divestment of state pension funds from Iran's oil and gas industry, and co-sponsored legislation to reduce risks of nuclear terrorism.[68][69] Obama also sponsored a Senate amendment to the State Children's Health Insurance Program providing one year of job protection for family members caring for soldiers with combat-related injuries.[70]

      Committees
Obama held assignments on the Senate Committees for Foreign Relations, Environment and Public Works and Veterans' Affairs through December 2006.[71] In January 2007, he left the Environment and Public Works committee and took additional assignments with Health, Education, Labor and Pensions and Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs.[72] He also became Chairman of the Senate's subcommittee on European Affairs.[73] As a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Obama has made official trips to Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Central Asia and Africa.[74][75][76][77]

If you are a lawyer, as your name suggests, you really should know better than to cite Wikipedia as your primary source. Even my son's middle school teachers don't allow that. Congress left for its traditional August recess after accomplishing nothing. Of the 106 bills enacted since January, 94, or 89 percent were to name government buildings or lands, extend or make technical corrections to existing laws, or passed either by unanimous consent or with less than 10 dissenting votes. The accomplishments included ???Frank Sinatra Day,??? National Plumbing Industry Week,??? and ???National Day of the Cowboy.???

The deadline for passing the 12 annual appropriations bills has been deliberately ignored. Only one of the bills has passed the House, and only four others have been approved by the House Appropriations Committee. In the Senate, nine have been approved by the Appropriations Committee but none have reached the floor. There are two reasons for this failure to act. First, the Speaker and Majority Leader appear to be waiting for the presidential election to decide what to do with these bills, hoping that the winner in November would favor higher spending and more earmarks.

This is why I changed my party affiliation from Democratic to Independent. I'd like to see 60% to 75% of both parties out of a job in November. And, only the moderates should lead the party - and they currently have only subcommittee chairmanship.

I's say it's time for a revolution by the working class.

Incumbents have crossed the line from legitimate partisan politics to now exercising the "power of the incumbent" as an unconstitutional usurpation ("to hold an office without legal right," Dictionary.com) because, since 1990, almost all state legislative and federal congressional districts are computer gerrymandered to guarantee the preservation of "The Incumbent Status Quo" for five election cycles, or 10 years!

Let the meaning of that phrase sink in. When incumbents conspire to guarantee the preservation of "The Incumbent Status Quo" for five election cycles, they are overtly working against the people's right choose their representatives in competitive elections where they have the option to hear and choose a viable challenger every two years. Having a "safe district" means safe from voters hearing and choosing a challenger. The key phrase is "safe from voters." The incumbent's slogan is: "Make every district a safe district" ??? and they have succeeded.

Obama hasn't helped Illinois much either.

        http://www.cagw.org/site/DocServer/2008_Illinois_Piglet_Book.pdf?docID=3041

By several accounts, Illinois has a struggling economy. The American Legislative Exchange Council???s
???Rich States, Poor States??? ranks Illinois number 42 (number 50 being the worst) on the economic
outlook ladder, based on equal weighting of 16 variables: highest marginal personal income tax rate,
highest marginal corporate income tax rate, progressivity of the personal income tax system, property
tax burden, sales tax burden, tax burden from all remaining taxes, existence of an estate tax/inheritance
tax, tax policy changes in 2005-06, debt service as share of tax revenue, public employees per 10,000
residents, quality of state legal system, state minimum wage, workers??? compensation costs, right-towork
laws, tax/expenditure limit, and education freedom index.1 Neighboring states fared much better ???
Wisconsin ranked number 30, Iowa ranked number 27, Indiana ranked number 12, and Missouri ranked
number 17. Such a low ranking does not bode well for a state that hopes to remain competitive or attract
        business in the future.

So "back alley abortions" justifies killing innocent babies? Not to mention that abortion has left thousands of women with remorse, grief, emotional and physical scars, and many turn to drugs and alcohol to deal with the agony of terminating the life of their child. I don't see how abortion helps the people it is supposed to help, but only lining the pockets of Planned Parenthood and others who profit from it. It kills children and leaves the mothers hurting for life.

On this anniversary of 9/11 it is so sad to see the way that Americans attack each other. Just because someone has a different viewpoint does not make them a bad person. Be honest, stick to the issue, research your facts before offering an opinion, and keep an open mind. In the end we are all Americans and have to live together. We can do so positively or negatively it is our choice. Only by working together will there ever be any meaningful change.

Why does Obama have to be a sexist just because he didn't choose Clinton as his running mate? That kind of argument trivializes the feminist movement. There is real, and tangible examples of sexism in our society. For example, when women don't get equal pay for an equal day's work. Obama favors legislation that supports equal pay for equal work. Palin and McCain oppose it. Why doesn't that get you angry?

How could Obama care less, about women sure he knows that if he picked Hillary he would be winning right now! But he picked biden who said that Hillary would have been a better pick! But because Obama is a sexist fool who can???t come to terms with having a woman on the ticket even if it costs him the election! Too bad we as women of this great country will stand behind Palin for support of women all across this land!

For the life of me I don't get why women are swooning over Palin when she in fact is being used and is promoting sexism by allowing it. Should I be her I myself would lose my mind being treated as an idiot, being put up for VP solely to get the womens vote. , but wait...."I might get to be VP so it doesn't matter" behavior by Palin , I am ashamed of my sisters at the very thought of it. I can't believe that the women who take for granted the right to vote fought so hard for by older women are making it a sham now. Disgusted and appalled.

If the Republicans were real feminists, they would acknowledge that actually Sarah does not need McCain. Uh, oh, I've said something progressive, watch out. I am not voting for Palin because how can you be a feminist and allow men to define you? I am not a traditional male hating feminist, but I understand that the voice of men has been one of sexism and oppression. As a woman, she cannot talk about glass ceilings when men continue to pull puppet strings.

Take notice America! See where the hatred comes from. This election clearly shows the difference between Republicans and Democrats. Notice that you didn't see Republicans marching up and down the streets busting out windows and making threats. Not to say there weren't prostestors in Denver, but they were Democrats protesting...not Republicans.

This is a Democratic ploy, whipping up people's emotions with lies and spreading hatred and civil unrest.

Unfortunately, I have disnagreed with a few intelligent people and certainly will not vote that far right. Lipstick on a pig was obviously not intended for McOver's running mate. but it does distract from their lack of issues. The emporor has no clothes and half the country can't see it.

I just had a sobering thought. Since Gov. Palin kept the money for the "Bridge to nowhere" and used it for other things, how are the Alaskans going to feel when they find out the money has to be paid back? Even if the state refuses to comply, congress still has the authority to deny payments for other projects in the state until it is repaid. I seriously doubt that the Dems in a Dem controlled congress would risk political suicide with their base by simply letting this one slide.

I believe Newsweek is engaging in partisan reporting on Sarah Palin.

While I understand, and yes, willing to accept that some things are "Rumor" and/or "UNTRUTHS" about Palin, there still remains many outstanding questions concerning her public record and personal life.

For instance, what about the 1100 emails that Palin is refusing to turn over regarding the ongoing investigation into misusing/abusing her political power to dictate her personal agenda? (i.e. "Troopergate")

What about the allegation that when Mayor of Wascilla, her police municipality was charging rape VICTIMS for the forensic testing of their own "rape kits?"

What about the injection of her EXTREME religious ideology into such matters as: "Gay Rights," "The Iraq War," and "Israel?"

The list doesn't stop here. In fact, the list is almost as long as her "Bridge to Nowhere," which has been proven to be a CLEAR misrepresentation, (i.e. "LIE") by Palin!

What are Sarah Palin's illustruous qualifications to sit in the second most powerful office in this country; and, God Forbid, the MOST powerful office if McCain is unable to serve?

In fact there are several witnesses to Palin's membership in the Alaska Independence Party. The posted copy of her registration records available on a PDF exhibit signs of tampering, included obvious cut and pate of the elements, placed down without straight edges to each other and the fact that the record of her registration adress changes is in identical handwriting. Any expert on forgery will tell you that your handwriting changes with time, the same persons handwriting looking un changing indicates that it was writing either at the same time or very close to the same time. There is a cover up going on on her membership in the AIP.
