Sliming Palin

As a devout Christian voter, I am extremely disturbed by McCain/Palin (or should I say McCain/Ann Coulter). The extremely conservative views of Ms. Palin will not serve our country well (including teaching religion in public schools via intelligent design for God's sake?! C'mon who's going to teach what the curriculum, Rev. Phelps?!). Also, the fact that the extreme right is ecstatic at Palin suggests to me that the economy is going to be put on the back seat in favor or the latest social issue that social conservatives believe in. It is time to heal this world, to help those in need, and narrow the gap between rich and poor. It is time to wake up and accept that we need to work together once and for all. God forbid something happens to McCain and she's our president?! She's so polarizing! McCain clearly showed poor decision-making in picking her--being pressued by the extreme right-wing. What we end up with is worse than even Bush/Cheney--we end up with a McCain/Coulter!

Palin wouldn't have this problem if she sit down with the media and answered questions. Why is it ok for Palin to avoid the media? If elected, she would be a heartbeat away from the presidency. The media has a responsibility to ask the hard questions. The media seem more interested in having a close election and a sexy story. Whether you support Obama or not he has been vetted by Democratic party (18 million votes) and the media. He has sat down with every major news source and asked every question. The media held him accountable. They made sure we the public knew everything. It is crazy to think that this person could skate through with no real questioning! This election coverage is turning into a joke!!!

The fact is far-left liberals don't know how to respond to strong, conservative female political leaders. They hail Hillary but try to impale Palin. But Sarah has sparred them many times before and has come out of the ring without a scratch. Forget the cheap talk about change; Gov. Palin is a proven reformer who can help us restore our country and rectify constitutional revisionism and apostasy. Sarah is small-town civil and Texas tough, with a Southern elegance and an urban savvy. If McCain is a maverick, then there's no doubt that Sarah is (if you will) the maverette! Even Oprah seems to be acknowledging the power in Sarah's prowess by refusing to have this hockey mom turned VP nominee on her talk show until "after the campaign is over" -- though she's had Barack (and Michelle) Obama on twice. Gov. Palin comes to civil service in the spirit of our Founding Mothers. She represents an early-American patriotic spirit that I believe lies sleeping among millions of Americans today and needs to be reawakened. She is the type of revolutionary who will help to wake up and revitalize America.

Partisanship has gotten way to out of hand. These fly-by's who love to try and spread lies and half truths are being easily discredited as seen here in fact check. This makes what they are trying to do back fire and helps the other candidate. It also shows desperation and fear when someone can't get the record straight and discuss the issues in a sane, respectful way. Thanks Newsweek. Keep it up.

It is very refreshing to find a mediaoutlet that cares enough about journalistic integrity to investigate claims and charges levied against high profile people. I receive any number of emails containing purported facts of record about one person or another. In a number of cases I do research on my own to determine the veracity of the claims, but this is one first times I can remember coming across a mainstream news media article which has reviewed and reported on a series of claims in a point by point manner. Well done.

More people are finding the "gotcha politics" of today as getting more ridiculous by the minute. Setting the record straight among all candidates is a smart move. Even with the sharp retorts you may be getting. I just want the truth and would like to make up my own mind. Many of these outlandish accusations can and will only backfire.

I wonder why the journalists asking the questions in the drive-by media can't do this type of homework before posing questions taken directly from the democratic talking points? Perhaps taking the trouble to reword some of the accusations they call questions would at least give them some credibility. Also, why are these these bloggers and journalists not labeled "left-wing extremists " espousing hate speach the same way these type labels would be applied if this garbage was coming from the right??

Thank you , Newsweek, for responsible journalism. All the American public asks is that they be presented with facts (true, documented and verifiable) so that they may make honest choices based on their individual philosophies. It is frightening that such deceit exists in what was once such a noble profession. However, it boils down to the responsibility of each individual voter to seek out the truth and make informed decisions....that is what I plan to do.
