My dear man, people are rightfully angry and taking deep breaths and counting to ten will do jack to quell it. But I do agree with you that humor has a place here. For example, I find it hilarious that Palin could become the leader of the free world. That's just a real knee-slapper. Or at least it would be if the idea weren't so terrifying.

  • Posted By: Richard49 @ 09/10/2008 11:07:59 PM

Now see what I mean? There is another one spewing anger and hatred and pointing the finger at others. Try taking deep breaths and count to ten.

The wicked witch of the North did a whole bunch of finger pointing and continues to do so. Problem is, most of the subject matter of the finger pointing should have been in front of a mirror. Remember the Republicans have controlled everything for the last 7.75 years. And don't give me this that the Democrats control Congress now. That is a fallacy because it is most definitely not majority rule in Congress anymore either.

Don't need to hear a rumor or some news, follow the truth is a key of
knowledge. Eight year ago, people didn't know, they vote for bush. four
year ago, people weren't wiser, they vote for bush. Now, there isn't
sure that people can learn something or losing mind.

It is a shame that we have to go through all of this BS from the right. Remember how King George was going to be the great uniter? He ended up the worst presidential failure in American history. He and his cronies created a country so divided in so many ways, left vs right, rich vs poor, educated vs ditto-head, christian(maybe) vs anyone else. This accomplished by doing the same crap that the wicked witch of the North is doing now. By the spewing that has come out of her mouth she deserves to get every aspect of he pblic and private life open for view, after all the republicans set that standard. Another shameless example is the exploitation of a special needs person for political gain. That has got to be the lowest of all tricks. Most of the parents of handicapped and Down Syndrome children that I have spoken to in the last week were insulted by the event. I was a supporter of John McCain in 2000 and was appalled at what the Bushwackers did to him. Kind of makes me sick that he would turn around and do the same thing, lies and stretching of the truth, to another person irreguardless of political affiliation. I guess he really wasn't the man that I thought that he was. What a disappointment. So now that the republicans have stolen the "Change" motto it appears to me that they are running against themselves. So what is a real republican then anymore other than someone that hates people that disagree with them. It's just a shame.

Some of you folks need anger management classes. If a candidate you don't like claims they are falsly accused they are liars. If independent sources confirm the candidates claim they are liars too. I still wonder what the odds are of Obama sitting in Rev. wrights church for 20 years and not know that he is a racist and a friend to people who advocate the destruction of the U.S. government. But, I don't get trapped seething about it . It makes for good jokes. In example: why would you want someone running your country who doesn't know whats going on in his own church after 20 years?

  • Posted By: fibfog @ 09/10/2008 10:31:36 PM

So she INCREASED spending for special needs children in March of 2008... um wouldn't she have been about 8 months pregnant at that time with a special needs child??? Just wondering....

You so-called "fact checkers" really ought to check your facts before you print your nonsense. Palin did in fact "request" that books be banned from the library and, supposedly, harassed and threatened the librarian who refused to ban those books for some time afterword. If only she had concentrated on banning libelous "fact checkers"... There is much else wrong with your so-called "article," maybe you should go back and check your "facts."

You say you will post something "soon" on the Kilkenny claims. I hope that you follow through, because Kilkenny's email seems very genuine to me. The combination of Palin's characteristics she describes: secrecy, forbidding staff to talk to the press, loyalty tests, and personal vindictiveness are shared with other people I've had the misfortune to work for. These people are narcissistic bullies. When a person like this was the head of my organization, the organization became totally dysfunctional. This is not the kind of person we need a heartbeat away from the Presidency.

Comment to USA girl: Have you looked at the specifics of Obama's tax plan and HealthCare plan? You have no concept of socialism which is what countries that own main industries are- Obama does not plan to own the airlines, Halliburton, Boeing etc. Because his tax plan is nearly identical to McCain's for all Americans making under 250,000- the middle class, all those making 250,000 to 100 million annual income will have rates raised from 35% t0 39% and those making more than 100,00 million face increases that could go up to 59% which is excessive on rich republican misers but is the only way to keep our country afloat in a deficit in which he have banks and the feds borrowing from other countries. Ask Ross Perot or Ron Paul or any Republican principled candidate that is not run solely by the prospect of keeping the rich rich and they will also tell you that America is not a 3rd world country thus people below the poverty line get welfare, do you know anybody on welfare because it is a petty necesity not a luxury nobody comfortably lives off of welfare except for Republican voting polygamist Fundamentalist Mormons. Stop listening to Rush Limbaugh and Bill O'Reily and look at the facts welfare is not something that "black pregnant mothers" want it is for those struggling to survive with labor conditions designed for Wall Street not the "middle class" Obama does not support taking over hospitals like a socialist, he supports Universal Health Care which aides people in need.

    • Posted By: Mimi13 @ 09/10/2008 8:33:42 PM

Even more specifically, Obama supports giving American without health care benefits, or Americans want to change the health care benefits they have (which they may keep if they so desire) , the SAME BENFIT PROGRAM AS MEMBERS OF CONGRESS. It offers lots of choices through lots of companies with lots of different options. Obama will give American choices in health care. McCain will TAX your health care benefits -- for the few that are still lucky enough to have them.

What about the often repeated "No-thanks... Bridge to nowhere" mantra? Why isn't this part of this story? This time the Karl Rovian Slimeballs have gone too far. Moderate voters are going to see this person for what she really is; just another Neo-con, big oil, big business puppet. Despite Newsweek's complicity in helping frame the debate on this twisted republican reality with the headline "Sliming Palin"; truth will somehow shine through.

    • Posted By: Mimi13 @ 09/10/2008 8:29:26 PM

What about the "no earmarks" mantra when she received $27 million in earmarks as mayor of Wisilla. That's about $4 million for every man, woman and child in town.

Sure, Palin is pro-life, even in the case of rape, and opposes same-sex marriage and favors the discussion of creationism alongside evolution in schools. But she hasn't pushed for legislative changes in any of those areas.

The Associated Press reported Sept 3: "Palin's children attend public schools and Palin has made no push to have creationism taught in them. ... It reflects a hands-off attitude toward mixing government and religion by most Alaskans."

She even vetoed a bill that would have denied benefits to employees in same-sex relationships because she said it was unconstitutional.

That says plenty. It shows she knows the limits of government, and believes that government isn't there to tell us what to do.

Obama seems more inclined to use government to control what choices we have than Palin does. Have you seen HR 800? The democrats are trying to eliminate the secret ballot in union elections. That will mean another hand in the worker's pocket (for dues, which have to be paid before the worker can even get the job), and less opportunity to advance on the merits when you do have a job.

I bet all those small businesses our economy is so dependent on will be so happy to know that the democrats want to unionize every business in the country. That will definitely make their products and services more competitive with foreign competition.

While Obama's children enjoy the best education money can buy, he wants to deny inner-city children the education change we can believe in ??? school choice. He prefers cradle-to-diploma collectivist education.

He recently told an interviewer that he opposes school choice because "although it might benefit some kids at the top, what you're going to do is leave a lot of kids at the bottom."

Not being left behind are Obama's daughters, who attend the private University of Chicago Laboratory Schools. There, tuition ranges from $15,528 for kindergarten to $20,445 for high school. When asked about it during last year's YouTube debate, Sen. Obama responded that it was "the best option" for his children. They had a choice Obama would deny others.

      • Posted By: Mimi13 @ 09/10/2008 8:27:05 PM

Vouchers aren't going to buy you tuition at the Chicago University Lab School -- or any other reputable private school -- vouchers most often are for less than $3000 per year. Private schools that want to subsidize kids that much will generally give them full scholarships from their endowments so that they are not hampered by government red tape.. In some communities, vouchers are acceptable at Catholic parochial schools, especially in the inner city -- but the Orlando diocese here is Florida will not accept them (altough they do offer scholarships to students in need).

Vouchers favor the develoipment of private, for-profit schools that are accountable to no one. In other words, they take your tax dollars, but you have NO control over what they return for your money. They can teach outdated curriculae or use no cirriculum at all -- the state has no control over what is taught. The danger to inner city kids is that unscrupulous operators would set up schools, take the vouchers and provide no education. That would be the only "choice" these kids would have other than crumbling public schools.

Charter schools, which Obama strongly supports, are different. They allow innovation by qualified educators who have an idea how to fashion a more relevant educational system for a particular group of students. They operate under the aupices of the established school system, however, and they are accountable to taxpayers by meeting established standards. In other words, the school board and the state establish the benchmarks the students should be hitting. The operators of charter schools can determine the best way to bring their students up to those benchmarks. With tax dollars at risk, this makes much more sense to me than giving some sleazy operator tens of thousands of dollars and demanding nothing in return. Call me crazy, but when I pay for something, I want to know that there is some quality behind the product.

The simple fact of the matter is that for the great majority of children in this country, public schools are the schools of choice. Public education is what has provided this country a high standard of literacy and it has always been the means by which the children of immigrants were assemilated into the larger society and through which they gained a entry into the economy. A few economically disadvantaged, but brilliant, students (like Obama) have benefitted from scholarships to top drawer private academies. But the places in those schools for students like Obama are few and far between. Vouochers will not increase them. They will only destroy local public schools.

As the smears against Gov. Palin continue, the McCain-Palin ticket's poll numbers rise. Voters hate this kind of media and Internet thuggery, especially when they love a particular candidate. And trust me on this - millions of voters love Palin. The smears will only cause a backlash against Obama and undermine media and left wing blog efforts to elect him.

If one looks at Obama's tissue thin resume, one will find someone who is so afraid of his own experience, he can only go out and attack others. He has attacked me personally when he said we should not be proud of America. His wife is no better. The only day she liked America was the day Obama got the nomination. So egotistical...and his friends are ones I would not want my children to play with or know about.

As a woman, I find Obama too be such a stupid person. He uses 5th grade school yard bullying tactics. He is so stupid! Obama's friends are well...you know.....he loves to be funded by felons, those serving in jaila for 17 of 21 felons. He got $ from this guy to buy his and his wife's house...and then he was so horrible...he took land from the next door property. Obama does not have presidential characteristics. He is stupid.

How about doing a article on "Sliming Obama"

He's been running as a candidate for over 19 months and has countless outrageous accusations made about him. Palin has been running for a week and her side is hystically complaining about the accusations.

What's right for Palin should be right for Obama

    • Posted By: A2008 @ 09/10/2008 11:04:27 AM

See the purpose of this article was how the media was telling lies about Palin. They can't write one about Obama, because Bill Ayers and Reverend Wright are real people he associated with who made real comments against this country. Bill Ayers was a terrorist or is a terrorist for crying out loud! How can you counter that fact. Please tell me how!

      • Posted By: Luvasia @ 09/10/2008 12:12:30 PM

You should get your facts straight and stop aligning yourself with the rest of the ignorant individuals who keep spreading the nonsense you have just written...I don't have time to explain to you what has already been explained from Obama's own mouth...not just a third party spokesperson like Sarah Palin has to answer the rumors/truths about herself....again I am just amazed at how mainly right wing "white" america have driven the Rev. Wright issue to no end....but have yet to sit back and think to themselves..."wow, not one time have "we" right wing, conservative, wealthy, historical slave owners, (many of whom are still racist) ever apologized for slavery, rape, murder, and the continued oppression of an entire race...have we ever EXPLAINED ourselves or apologized to the Black "American" race.....but have the nerve to drive this particular issue of ONE man and his beliefs to no end.....it is truly amazing...and sooooo hypocritical....I can't even begin to discuss the "terrorist" issue.......you actually believe the freakin hype.....knowledge is power and the wisdom of understanding the knowledge you aquire is a blessing...I will pray for this nation.....because to in order for this nation to heal only God can deliver that mircle.....

Obviusly, you can't be a liberal. From my perspective a christian liberal is an oxymoron if you believe in pro-choice and gay marriage. Oviously, they are not reading the same bible I'm reading. The question I was driving at was that he went to the same church for 20 years and claims he didn't listen to any of the repulsive speeches from this pastor? Come on, you have to be deaf not to hear what your pastor preaches! But I guess I shouldn't judge Obama on that, I'll give him the benefit of a doubt. I'm still not voting for him. By the way slavery has been an issue since the beginning of time, not just a white issue. I think know the black community is a slave of himself. You do have a choice to make it in this country, but it depends on you! I've seen so many black men write history by their achievements in their lives. But if are going to depend on the government giving you a handout, you are not going to make it. Obama made it, why doesn't he tells every community to get off your lazy butts and work for a living. He did it, they can do it too! I did it, and i'm hispanic.

          • Posted By: Luvasia @ 09/10/2008 2:28:05 PM

It is about tolerance not belief....there is NO compassion from a perspective like your's....you have no idea of what it has been like to walk a mile anyone's shoes but your own....if I teach a child from birth to adulthood that are not worth the ground they walk on don't expect that child to have ANY self confidence...and if that child somehow by God's blessing is able to rise above the oppression that I created for them then they are NOT the average individual who becomes a product of their environment.....what you are trying speak on is NOT as black and white as you may think, it is a disease that has manifested (to the core) over hundreds of years, therefore, it will take just as much time to heal......many of the same immigrants they are sending back to Mexico are the same immigrants in which companies have taken advantage of as far as cheap labor, some of the lowest level jobs, and unfair working conditions.........but I assume these same individuals should just get over it and find a way to make it...like you did.... I live in Texas, so it is more than an average issue here...especially understanding the history between Mexico and Texas...

            • Posted By: A2008 @ 09/10/2008 3:19:48 PM

I understand your perspective. The only thing is a lot of people i've seen under the welfare system just take advantage of it. I've seen people driving better cars than I do and are on welfare. I understand tha real needs of real people that struggle, and I say as human beings should do everything possible to help them out, but let's say you have a friend that you give shelter to so he can get on his feet and you basically support him until he can make it on his own. At what point (weeks, months, years) of waiting for him to get on his feet does your tolerance run out, knowing that the friend does not put any effort to do something about his life? Then multiply that by millions.

              • Posted By: Luvasia @ 09/10/2008 7:23:53 PM

Well if I were going to provide some type of assistance to a person in need I would first evaluate the situation....in the example you gave I would first examine to see if my providing the friend with shelter was the best option of assistance and if I decided to provide shelter I would provide it with conditions "up front"...because I do understand there are people (many of them) who also take advantage of help......I think it is a cycle that in an urgent way needs to be addressed by providing a system of quality education for all children....and making sure we have a fair and balanced healthcare system for all Americans...we have to move towards change in a manner of unselfishness and understanding that our country will only have a chance at continuing to be the greatest nation through the next generation..and the generation after that...and so forth... it really does "take a village to raise a child"...we cannot continue to dwell on our mistakes/differences as a nation which is becoming one big melting pot (in 25 years I predict the number of biracial people/interacial marriages will be significantly large) but get to the solutions and ways to deal with the issues at hand....we have a lot of government programs that are broken (welfare being one of them)...so instead of continuning the same pattern let's get someone in office who will address these types of issues and come up with solutions...it will take some time but we have to start somewhere...

          • Posted By: Luvasia @ 09/10/2008 2:46:17 PM

...AND let me also add that I am a hard working, successful, business owning "Black" women who has made it despite the obstacles of being black and a woman at that....so I don't need a speech about what it takes to make it in America or how anyone can make it in American...I have compassion for those who are still TRYING to make it and have a HOPE for a better future.......I can also relate to the ills of this country and I am not without wisdom of knowing the hurt and pain of my fellow brother or sister of every color..depsite any sterotypical jugdement ....

          • Posted By: Huberc @ 09/10/2008 1:49:00 PM

I am a Catholic Democrat. One of my priests once said during his homily that gay people will go to hell. I completely dissagree with this, but I love my church and most of what it stands for. I don't believe in judging others, that is for God. So, sometimes leaders of your church may say things you dissagree with, but you don't leave it. There is no church or organization I agree with 100% of the time. Jesus preached tolerance and love.... he who is without sin...

            • Posted By: A2008 @ 09/10/2008 2:39:13 PM

Actually I respectfully would have to disagree with you. I would have to side with pastor, since what he preaches is based on God's word. The price of sin is death, unless you repent and ask for forgiveness from the Lord, not the church, and this is all sins. Bible can't be any clearer. So he is telling you that if you keep committing sin, how can you expect to be with God. That's why he left the bible.

Add this one to your list of rumors:

McCain had many well qualified women candidates to chose from if he was just looking for a woman running mate, yet he picks a less qualified former beauty queen. Now we've all heard the rumors about McCain's womanizing, so what if he picked her because he was attracted to her? Can you just imagine what laughing stocks the Republican Party and America will be if he makes advances toward her and she charges him with Sexual Harassment? I can just see the Headlines now. The reason I thought about this was the way she pulls back when he gives her those sweet little hugs on camera. It makes me think of how I react when a dirty old man tries to feel me up by hugging me. Just another rumor you know and probably nothing to worry about. Oh by the way, let's just say that it did happen, would Sarah take over as President while McCain was being investigated?

    • Posted By: Davole @ 09/10/2008 10:04:24 AM

      kathylibbey -

Your comment - "It makes me think of how I react when a dirty old man tries to feel me up by hugging me" leads me to ask - why do you allow any dirty old man to even get close to you, let alone feel you up?

Are you that desperate for affection or physical contact?

I would suspect that Sarah Palin needs to be overly concerned about any possible physical contact with John McCain because daily kos, moveon.org, and the likes of you would sure like to blow it out of all proportion.

So, as you can see - she's a smart, respectful, and principled woman - great VP credentials!

      • Posted By: Pupster @ 09/10/2008 11:44:03 AM

McCain pissed off Kay Bailey Hutchison. All the women politicians in the Party are disgusted with his choice. You should see some of them on TV. They can barely spit out a decent word about Palin, because they know she's a bubble head.

        • Posted By: Davole @ 09/10/2008 7:16:12 PM

          Pupster -

Provide facts and names to support your juvenile naive rant that "All the women politicians in the Party are disgusted with his choice."

Recent polls state that close to 90% of Republicans support McCain's choice of Palin as the VP Candidate. I'm sure that many women are included in that percentage.

I doubt that the remaining 10% are all women.

Get real, or at least rational!

I taught English for six years, and I came across books I refused to teach in the classroom because of excessive profanity, sexual content or highly suggestive language, and immorality. Books with this type of content is completely inappropriate to expose children and teens. If their parents choose to allow their children to read this kind of material, that is the decision of the parents, not the schools.

One, I have not seen anything conclusive to show that Palin banned books. Second, if so, what kind of books? Third, it is not "banning" to protect children, as I did when I taught.

Why hasn't anyone asked about Sarah Palin's education? She lacks a quality education. She went to 6 schools over a 6 year period and ended up with a BA in Journalism from the University of Idaho.

    • Posted By: BorgProtocol @ 09/10/2008 7:02:03 PM

I went to four different colleges in a four and a half year period. I find it offensive that someone would judge the "quality" of my education in such a way. There are various situations that may make switching schools necessary, but it does not take away from the "quality" of one's education. Does a "quality" education have to be from an Ivy League college? If so, that pretty much excludes the majority of us hard working, middle class folks who take out loans and work part-time or full-time jobs to earn our degrees from entering the political realm.
