McCain doesnt believe in equal pay for women , but he wants Obama to say sorry about the lip stick comment? oh come on !! he is just trying not to talk about the issues .

  • Posted By: A2008 @ 09/10/2008 2:49:50 PM

Well, that's Ok if you believe you evolved from an ape. That's your perrogative. I'm not having it and my kids should not have it either! We the parents are their educator concerning moral issues and sex education. As far as religion and government, it should be kept separate, but I should have a say what my son learns in school. If my kids want to learn about sex education, then we as the parents will talk to them. Sex education nowadays consists of what kind of contraceptive you can get instead of teaching about the human body only. That's my issue with sex ed.

This does sound like a swift boat attack. Mccain has used the same term - 'lipstick on a pig' a couple of times in the past. Is it denigrating - yes! was it meant to target Palin - no it was meant to TARGET MCCAIN'S POLICY "CHANGES". If you want to play with the big boys - grow up. You cannot accuse the French prime-minister of sexism if he says the same thing - so why Obama?

Evolution IS science. Science is based on study of the natural world, not a discussion of a book. These people that disagree with evolution are the flat-earthers of the 21st century. There is so much proof of evolution, on 1,000's of different levels. These people are the reason we will be a third world country within 50 years. Just keep on believing in the fantasy of the USA as a theocracy. If you get your wish, we will be just like Iran soon.

  • Posted By: glimps @ 09/10/2008 2:29:31 PM

okay ! i dont understand why some ppl think that sex education should not be taught in our schools as well as at home?

  • Posted By: Annie P @ 09/10/2008 10:11:35 AM

WOW! I am amazed at the anger of so many people in this country. I think we should follow Rick Warrens lead and stop demonizing and badmouthing either candidate. The truth is, our economy is in such a grave state we need to concentrate on the issues. I had decided to vote for Palin /McCain until my 15 year old daughter said to me I was old fashion about sex, she used Palin and her daughter 's situation and the fact that Palin never mentioned how disappointed she was in her daughter as an example. This is not the example I want for my daughter. I will not vote for McCain because I am not sure who will be running him, I still don't understand who told him he could not have his first choice who he said was lieberman I think, so if he could not make this major decision on his own, who will be running this country. I thought the GOP was the moral party. It will be difficult for me to vote democrat but if our party is changing too, maybe its time for me to help the world heal. I have learned money doesn't make you happy, maybe helping others will.

      Annie P -

Most adults trust their own ability to decide their choice of candidates for President and VP.

They do not rely on their 15 year old daughter to form their own opinion for them.

An informed, dedicated, and competent parent would reject your action as a failed responsibility!

For your daughter's sake, begin to assume the responsibilities of a parent and mother!

      • Posted By: DeadlyArrow @ 09/10/2008 12:31:10 PM

Who are you to criticize a mother-daughter relationship you know nothing about?
Who are you to criticize someone else's parenting skills?
How logical o rrational is it to judge someone you don't know?
Try not to be more of a troll than you are.

        • Posted By: Cimarron @ 09/10/2008 2:28:36 PM

But isn't that what the democrats are doing to Sarah Palin?

  • Posted By: searay @ 09/10/2008 2:26:26 PM

it is certainly refreshing to hear someone finally get the facts straight.

  • Posted By: willin46 @ 09/10/2008 1:44:49 PM

What about Sarah Palin's support for the Alaskan bridge before she decided to not support it ?

    • Posted By: wouldulikecheesewithyourwhine @ 09/10/2008 2:25:39 PM

Probably right along side Obama's support and accolades for the corrupt and indicted Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick of the City of Detroit. Search Youtube and you can hear/see him first hand celebrate the "great Mayor" and "all he's done for the city". Oh wait, I keep forgetting that if we are going to be a president of VP we can change our mind...oh wait!!! I get it: only if you're on the left can you change your mind or position on something.

  • Posted By: wouldulikecheesewithyourwhine @ 09/10/2008 2:14:13 PM

Maybe Kingme32 can come up with his/her own site and continue the fantasy for the libs that us "small town folk", you know: the ones "clinging to guns and religion" are such bad people and support such horrible candidates! I'm sorry, the left is just freaking out that the game is OVER and people like Sarah Palin are sick and tired of "business as usual" and we are not going to be quiet any longer. Quit your crying and wake up!

    • Posted By: Pupster @ 09/10/2008 2:20:28 PM

Nothing against small towns, only small minds. If you like Sarah Palin because she's "just like you" and you see people like her at the supermarket, then you really don't know how dangerous this world is. She can't deal with the dictators of this world any more than you could.

I'm not willing to put my or my family's safety into her hands.

  • Posted By: glimps @ 09/10/2008 1:23:27 PM

okay the sob story of McCain got to some ppl
Okay the first women VP is exciting for some
but when has being a member of the PTA a qualification ?
being a snowmobile rider a qualification?
this ticket is so shallow.................. ( reverse sexism; since when in America is a stay at home Dad accepted)? answer: when a women wants to run for VP..... so i guess small town america shares the values of a man not working? as long as he can fish, & ride a snow car

    • Posted By: Jill from Florida @ 09/10/2008 1:32:24 PM

If you order fish in a restaurant, how do you think they got it? What do YOU think a COMMERCIAL FISHERMAN is? It is SOMEONE WHO FISHES for a living. Do yourself a favor and watch the DEADLIEST CATCH on Discovery Channel. It's all about the perils of Alaskan Fishing.

Educate yourself instead of sounding like a fourth grader (you don't EVEN make the smarter than a 5th Grader.)

And, TODD Palin was the snowmobile RACER, not Sarah. Snow "car" you really are funny.

Oh, my, how Kennedy has succeeded in "dumbing-down" our American students with the national public educational system. No wonder why we cannot compete intellectually with the Asian countries. Glimps is a fine example of HOW our beloved Democratic leadership throughout the past four decades has belittled our proud nation.

      • Posted By: flucky @ 09/10/2008 1:47:09 PM

Ok, I'm now convinced that you are clueless. We've had a Republican President for 20 of the last 28 years, and the last time I checked, Republicans aren't Democrats.

        • Posted By: Jill from Florida @ 09/10/2008 2:02:47 PM

Have you heard of the Congress? It is the body of GOVERNMENT HAS WRITES the laws. The Congress has been under Democratic leadership except for the part of the time under Clinton, most of Bush's - except when the end of 2004 (when Daschle LOST in SD) and the past two years - 110th Congress.

Again, if it weren't for Kennedy's dumb-down educational system, you would know there are THREE (3) branches of government. One writes the laws (Congress). One approves or vetos the laws (President). And the Third interprets the laws (Judicial). The President states what he will or will not sign into law, and gives guidelines for his policies. It is up to the Congress - including the DO-ABSOLUTELY-NOTHING 110th Congress, to write the actual laws, amend as majority of body agree to, and submit to the President for signature.

No wonder why they can pull the wool over your eyes. You have no knowledge of how government is to work.

          • Posted By: flucky @ 09/10/2008 2:17:11 PM

Again, your cluelessness astounds me. Democrats have been in power all this time, except for the last 16 years? Your nonsense is getting tedious, and please try not to make assumptions about people.

      • Posted By: glimps @ 09/10/2008 1:44:46 PM

Palins husband is a gump.... she wears the pants in the family.. i guess Liberman & the speech writters decided not to write a speech for a man that stays home & fishes ( dont forget that he knows how to ride a snow mobile).

LOL !! you responded to this down below... i guess mr. mom needs women to defend his honor... all stay at home dads unite ....

        • Posted By: Jill from Florida @ 09/10/2008 2:05:33 PM

If you are riding on a snowmobile - someone else is DRIVING. Too bad common sense is not taught in schools. You certainly need it.

          • Posted By: glimps @ 09/10/2008 2:13:43 PM

Hey she is the one stumping out there to middle America that they ( her & gumpish Todd are just like me/ us).. i ride/ drive a motorcycle.... i guess i'm now qualified to be VP of our great nation....

  • Posted By: april64 @ 09/10/2008 1:02:42 PM

Newsweek can't seem to do enough for Palin. What has she got on them? For every "slime" they debunk, there are 10 other facts about Palin that make her the most terrifying VP nominee in U.S. history. Quit kissing her northwoods behind and do some real reporting.

    • Posted By: Cimarron @ 09/10/2008 2:15:53 PM

A presidential candidate with little experience and ties with terrorists for over 30 years doesn't scare you but Sarah Palin does? hahahahaha

  • Posted By: dori715 @ 09/10/2008 1:01:05 PM

If Sarah Palin has nothing to hide about herself and her accomplishments, why does the McCain campaign have to guard her so carefully from the press? If she is the strong, independent woman maverick they want to believe she is, she should be madder than heck at this coddling. She chose to get in this race. Now she needs to come forward and let us see who she really is and how shereally stands on the issues.

    • Posted By: Cimarron @ 09/10/2008 1:17:41 PM

Hiding her from the press shouldn't make any difference to you since you apparently don't read it ............. it was announced TWO DAYS AGO that she will be with ABC for two full days this week, tomorrow & Friday for unrestricted interviews.

      • Posted By: Sara M. @ 09/10/2008 1:47:33 PM

And while Senator Biden and Senator Obama are facing tough questions on Meet the Press and othre shows, Palin picks the gentlest commentator of all who tends NOT to ask the hard questions. Obama even had the guts to go on O'Reilly and FOX News. Will Palin have the courage to get on Neet the Press or Countdown with Keith Olhbermann?????

        • Posted By: Cimarron @ 09/10/2008 2:13:31 PM

And yes, I'm quite sure she is being scheduled for other interviews as well ... do you expect them all at once? We do have a couple months to go (almost).

        • Posted By: Cimarron @ 09/10/2008 2:11:59 PM

Yeah, Obama finally relented and went on O'Reilly after well over a year of refusing to. Frankly, I don't listen to O'Reilly ... he annoys me ... but from what I hear, he now sounds like an Obama apologist, so perhaps it did or will do Obama some good to have finally gotten the guts to face O'Reilly. As far as ABC goes, most everything I've read about Palin on abc.com has been negative and critical, so I doubt they will soft peddle much ... unless she wins them over like Obama apparently did O'Reilly.

  • Posted By: muppet @ 09/10/2008 12:35:11 PM

i feel MCCAIN and PALIN will change washington dc this is called the dinamic duo batman and batgirl........we need experience all the way no on the job training.......i am for change but right change not wrong change its all about taking care of the poor and the midle class....not the rich.

    • Posted By: glimps @ 09/10/2008 12:48:06 PM

you think that McCain/Palin is going to help the poor & the Middle class? did you just get here in America? since when repblicans help the poor & the middle class? the repblicans have had office for the last 8yrs. & ppl are loosing jobs therefore More poor ppl..... CHANGE??????

      • Posted By: Jill from Florida @ 09/10/2008 1:17:11 PM

Then WHY did the Republican leaders, including Bush, treat him with such dislike? WHY, pray tell, Did Kerry want him for HIS first choice for VP in 2004? WHY did Joesph Biden (Obama's running mate) want McCain to run WITH him on a UNITY TICKET??? And, WHY doesn't Obama talk about the ethics reform that McCain was working on and he wanted to join in, until he found out that McCain was unwilling to compromise the integrity by allowing Democratic leadership requests for grandfather clauses for nearly EVERY aspect of the reform?

        • Posted By: glimps @ 09/10/2008 2:07:36 PM

the conservative right didnt like McCrazy until Palin. & he was considering becomming a Dem. in the past.
his policy's are the same as Bush & he even stole words from Bush's convention speech to use in his own... Change??? he is basically going to keep things as they are. google Bush's two convention speeches and listen to Mccains convention speech..... same old same....

  • Posted By: KingMe32 @ 09/10/2008 2:02:43 PM

This is ridiculous. WHERE IS THE FACT CHECK.ORG BREAKDOWN ON HOW THE MCCAIN IS LYING DAILY ABOUT HOW PALIN WAS OPPOSED TO THE BRIDGE TO NO WHERE? WHERE IS THE FACT CHECK.ORG BREAKDOWN ON THE LIE THAT PALIN OPPOSED EARMARKS WHEN IN FACT SHE HIRED A LOBBYIST TO PURSUE EARMARKS AND ALASKA HAS THE HIGHEST PER CAPITA AMOUNT OF EARMARK MONEY IN THE ENTIRE COUNTRY?

  • Posted By: C. MacLean @ 09/10/2008 9:37:03 AM

Folks, you are missing the point.

We are focusing on mundane issues like librarians and secessionist silliness because we have no idea what she thinks about health care, foreign policy, the economy, trade, the war, medicare reform, China, Russia or Afganistan.

All we know about her is that McCain picked her for her ability to create a diversion - a pair of breasts wrapped in an American flag, with a shot-gun over her shoulder (is it aimed at her future son-in-law?).

I don't care about her trooper brother-in-law, her squabble with the local librarian, or her wayward 17-year old daughter. I don't care that she can skin a moose, what shade of lipstick she wears, or even the fact that she is a former beauty queen, although it does take the focus off Cindy and makes you wonder just how shallow is John McCain.

What I want to know is: what does she propose to do for America going forward?

My fear is that we don't know, and neither does she.

    • Posted By: Davole @ 09/10/2008 10:33:10 AM

      C. MacLean -

      You are missing the point.

You insinuate that Sarah Palin has "a shot-gun over her shoulder, " and then you ask - "is it aimed at her future son-in-law"?

Obviously you are not aware that a shotgun being carried over any person's shoulder would not be aimed at anyone!

Now just think about that! Makes you look ridiculous, doesn't it?

Why should we expect anything else from an obamabot?

But thanks for contributing to the growing number of thinking Independents and democrats who are now supporting John McCain and Sarah Palin.

      • Posted By: C. MacLean @ 09/10/2008 11:26:32 AM

Regardless of where she does or doesn't aim her shot gun, we still don't know what she thinks - or knows - about the important issues in this election: the economy, energy, healthcare, the war, foreign relations.

Right now she's just a pretty face with a lot of symbols. One of them is a shot gun, currently not aimed at anyone, thank s for pointing that out. (Perhaps you have never heard the expression, 'shot gun wedding'?)

I want to know who she plans to aim it at and why.

          C. MacLean, you are an idiot! Ever hear of"figure of speech"?Much like Palin is doing sooooo much of.You need to stop watching South Park, and tune into MSNBC! Catch Oberman and Maddow. Then wake the hell up!!!!

WHERE'S THE FACT CHECK.ORG BREAKDOWN ON THE LIES TOLD BY THE MCCAIN CAMPAIGN ON A DAILY BASIS THAT PALIN WAS AGAINST THE BRIDGE TO NO WHERE? WHERE'S THE BREAKDOWN ON THE LIES THAT SHE OPPOSED EAR MARKS WHILE SHE ACTUALLY HIRED A LOBBYIST TO PURSUE EARMARKS AND ALASKA HAS THE HIGHEST PER CAPITA EAR MARK NUMBERS IN THE ENTIRE COUNTRY? THIS IS RIDICULOUS.

  • Posted By: hudson6 @ 09/10/2008 1:44:08 PM

Will you be doing fact checking on the statements being made by the Governor and the other campaign representatives? For instance, have you checked her claim to have stopped the bridge to nowhere? Have you checked the veracity of her claim to be fiscally conservative? to be against earmarks? If you are going to check the statements made against her, please also check those made by her.

  • Posted By: willin46 @ 09/10/2008 1:43:56 PM

What about the Alaskan bridge. Sh ewas for it before she was against it.

  • Posted By: Sara M. @ 09/10/2008 1:42:56 PM

False rumors or not (Senator Obama has been lambasted with false smears for months) there is enough real stuff on this woman to frighten me.
This woman is against abortions even for rape, incest, and severe fetal abnoralties. If she becomes VP you know she will be pushing McCain to appoint Supreme Court justices who will push back women'r reproductive rights 30 years. If she chooses to bear a Down's Syndrome child (and then basically absndon the infant ) that is her choice. But, how dare she try to tell others what to do.
If your daughter were raped or were faced with severe fetal abnornalites- who do you think should be able to decide- right wing judges or your family??? The next president will likely appoint 2 or 3 Supreme Court justices. We do not need more Clarence Thomas's.
Outlawing abortions will not end abortions- they will only result in back alley abortions for many a poor girl and of course the rich will just fly overseas. Nobody likes abortions but how you decrease them is through education and adequate medical care. And of course, Palin is against reproductive education.
Both Palin and her teenage daughter were pregnant before they were married. You know good and well that if this had happened to the Obama's that the right-wing would have attacked them unmercilessly.
I JUST HATE HYPOCRISY!!!!!! THE ONLY PEOPLE THAT JESUS SPIOKE BAD OF WAS RELIGIOUS HYPOCRITES AND I CERTAINLY SEE THAT IN both McCain and Palin.
