the real scary thing about this ticket is that she is uniformed of policy. she has to be a quick study if this ticket wins... & all this time repblicans been saying "NO ON THE JOB TRAINNING"??? since she said yes to this position i assume she aggrees w/ McCain on most issues except for her extreme ideas of her own..

It is her husband that was a member of the Alaska Independents; she gave a keynote address. And on the librarian example of Palin's extremism, ABC did an investigation and in the report you will find this:

ROSS: Around the time Palin became mayor, [Palin's] church and other conservative Christians began to focus on certain books available in local stores and in the town library, including one called "Go Ask Alice," and another one written by a local pastor, Howard Bess, called "Pastor, I am Gay."

BESS: This whole thing of controlling, you know, information, censorship, yeah. That's a part of the scene.

ROSS: Not long after taking office, Palin raised the issue at a city council meeting of how books might be banned according to news accounts and a local resident, a Democrat, who was there.

ANNE KILKENNY: Mayor Palin asked the librarian, what is your response if I ask you to remove some books from the collection of the Wasilla Public Library?

ROSS: The Wasilla librarian, Mary Ellen Edmonds, the then president of the Alaska Library Association, responded with only a short hesitation.

KILKENNY: The librarian took a deep breath and said, the books in the collection were purchased in accordance with national standards and professional guidelines, and I would absolutely not allow you to remove any books from the collection.

"A few weeks after the council meeting, the mayor fired the librarian, although she was reinstated after a community uproar," Ross reported. "The Wasilla librarian, Mary Ellen Edmonds, left two years later, and according to friends, because it was just too hard working for Sarah Palin."

Thank goodness people are paying attention to the lies coming out of mccain camp. Also why does he have to read from a script on the podium so much?. If you are speaking the truth about how the country is doing why do you need a script to describe it? I'll tell you , because he is not hurting in any category so how can he help us the american people.

ENOUGH! We are getting tired of Sarah Palin's saga. She is not a Hillary Clinton. She is a pretty face with a lot of guts and no experience whatsoever. The more they talk about her the more benefit to the GOP. Focus on the issues and on the primary candidates and leave the celebrity for free that she has obtained. Lately on the McCain campaign he just listens and applaud. That's scary!

HOW ABOUT FACT CHECKING ALL OF THE LIES THAT PALIN HERSELF SAYS ABOUT HER OWN RECORD???? THE WOMAN IS A LIAR AND EMBELLISHER.
HOW ABOUT FACT CHECKING THE LIES THAT McCAIN AND SHE CONTINUALLY TO SAY ABOUT SENATOR OBAMA.????

    • Posted By: Jill from Florida @ 09/10/2008 1:19:52 PM

The same is said about OBAMA. His LIES and HIS EMBELLISHMENTS!

There is no "both sides" to Evolution and how can anyone call Creationism a science as you quoted? Do we teach the "other side" to gravity or that the Earth revolves around the Sun? She can teach creation all she wants - where it belongs - in church - it doesn't belong in our schools no matter what they call it. No wonder our kids are so low compared to the rest of the world when it comes to science and math.

Most of the issues brought up are news to me, but the one not addressed that concerns me most is: Is it true that Palin turned down the money for the bridge to nowhere. She has said that she did many times now, but I hear differently. I heard that Alaska kept all that money and used a portion of it for a road that goes to the beach where the bridge to nowhere was supposed to go. This is the only issue that concerns me because she is staking her maverick reputation on this assertion which does not appear to be correct.

So tell me: Did Sarah Palin say no to the money or has she been lying?

    • Posted By: Jill from Florida @ 09/10/2008 1:05:43 PM

What about the near $ One Billion dollars Obama asked for in earmarks? That's almost $One Million per day that he has been in the Senate. Whose the PORKER NOW?

  • Posted By: glimps @ 09/10/2008 11:17:08 AM

Palins husband is a gump.... she wears the pants in the family.. i guess Liberman & the speech writters decided not to write a speech for a man that stays home & fishes ( dont forget that he knows how to ride a snow mobile).

    • Posted By: Jill from Florida @ 09/10/2008 11:21:38 AM

And, Obama is a wuss. The reason Obama wants guns banned, he's afraid that Michelle would shoot him if he doesn't follow her orders. Gotta keep guns out of the hands of those Annie Oakleys.

      • Posted By: TJ21 @ 09/10/2008 12:25:30 PM

Obama wants guns banned or he wants assault rifles out of the hands of children and gang members? When you make blanket statements like Obama wants to ban all guns, please do some research. Unless they only get Fox News down in Florida, then I can understand where this comes from.

the worry of Palin is simple jhons age & health. she lacks knowldge on policy .. she is studying her lines i grant her that. & please dont respond w/ a talking point like " she has more exper. then Obama". the repblicans lost the exper. card by picking Palin.

What about the "rumors" that are true??? Omission of the truth is equal to deceit!!! So, when is Newsweek planning on merging with The National Inquirer?

  • Posted By: Jill from Florida @ 09/10/2008 11:03:47 AM

    Lies -
LIE: McCain is against Equal Pay for Women - TRUTH - Civil Rights Act of 1964, Title VII makes it a federal civil violation to based pay or benefits on Race, Religion, Nationality or Gender. We women already ARE covered for Equal Pay and have been for 44 years. The problem lies in who gets promoted. Total and complete propaganda by the Democrats.

LIE: Obama is for the middle class. Truth: While we naturally think of the middle class, the working class, as being defined as the majority of the people within a certain income category ($50,000 to $100,000 per FAMILY) - Obama is using a different yardstick - he is defining the middle class as the majority of the dollar level of income (comparing the Exxon CEO salary to the Burger King employee) and his definition of middle class is $200,000 to $500,000 per FAMILY. Most of Obama's "tax reform" plans will benefit those making 1/4 to 1/2 million dollars per year. The $4000 college tuition tax credit for 100 hours umping little league (community service) is available IF YOU CAN AFFORD THE TUITION TO BEGIN WITH! No increased payroll taxes on those individuals making $102,000 to $250,000 - (family of two spouses each working equates to $200,000 to $500,000.) Big tax cut for the WORKING class - right.

LIE: Obama doesn't take money from registered federal lobbyists. Technically, under IRS rules, family members would be considered an extension of the taxpayer and Obama does take money from the lobbyists' family members AND staff members. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac members have contributed the most money to #1. Senator Chris Dodd (D-CT) (chairman of banking), and Senator Barack Obama (D-IL) is listed and the 3rd and 2nd largest recipient. And, who just got bailed out AGAIN? A government mandated program who the Democrats refused to allow a "non lobby activities" clause into the original bailout. Obama also receives the most money from EXXONMOBIL, Blue Cross-Blue Shield, American Hospital Assoc. Oh, I'm certain he has OUR interests in mind. That's why the fraudulent mortgage lenders are all sitting in jail and the homeowners are able to renegotiate their existing mortgages, and health insurance IS affordable.

    • Posted By: youngfemalelawyer NJ @ 09/10/2008 11:51:48 AM

Actually his tax plan gives a bigger tax cut to families who make less the $250,000 than McCain. And for seniors who make less than 50,000 will pay nothing. Your facts are wrong

      • Posted By: Jill from Florida @ 09/10/2008 12:47:14 PM

I do taxes, so I have analyzed both tax plans. The minor credits given to a family making less than $75,000 and the elderly are laden with marriage penalties. Just like his proposal to increase the earned income credit and increase the number of children in the formula promotes irresponsibility and no marriage. It would be better to stop working with the same Democrats on his financial team (Brookings Institute) who are intent on the US being ONLY a service oriented economy - not manufacturing.

McCain's medical premiums taxation and resulting credit actually would benefit the working class and would be extremely detrimental to those in upper management with the more comprehensive and expensive plans. So they YELL OUT LOUD!!!

Obama wants to increase the capital gains tax to 38%, and would include the sale of your HOME. Those poor little old ladies and men will be paying most of their retirement funds BACK to the country in TAXES - unless they get a divorce and file single.

Hey Jill, you forgot to mention the ABC reporter that got arrested for reporting on the leer jets and LOBBYISTS meeting with the Democratic Party at the DNC. I don't think that made the 11 o'clock news.

  • Posted By: Wonder11 @ 09/10/2008 12:45:43 PM

How about posting what rumors Newsweek found to be true and disconcerting??? Omission of truth is the equivalent of deceit. When are you guys planning to merge with People Magazine?

  • Posted By: motostrano @ 09/10/2008 12:55:47 AM

This election is the first to my mind where the Internet is being used fully as class A propaganda machine and it's a test to see if the "public" actually heeds information it's absorbing. It's the Election of engineered and totally fraudulent Social Networking, not of banner ads and it's the election of false opinions, Spam posts on News web sites, Blogs and discussion forums. What? Palin has no actual experience? Post a blog touting how experienced she is. Huh? McCain would be as inept a president as Bush? Turn the discussion back to Palin.Avoid the issues. Avoid the issues at all cost!

It cuts both ways. Obama deflects critcism of his lack of experience. Especially since Palin has more than he does. Don't forget who is running for President here - it's Obama, not Palin. The only concern the left has about Palin is that she is attracting the swing vote that Obama was counting on.

Let the Republican B.S. artists fight there own battles. Who's behind this site? Who's behind Newsweek? Card carrying Republicans. Mystery solved. Yeah. Let' have 4 more years of $4.00 gas and no real push for the future. Let the$4.00 gas improve the economies of our enemies, while American slowly goes broke. Yeah, drill baby drill. Morons.

    Bye bye Palin!!!!!

you are pathetic, why not get interested in actual issues that affect our country like the reality of each canidates tax plan, or should I say what they say it is until they get into office, and then we actually are taxed to death, and watch our business die and close., who knows.,

    I see three ???endgame??? outcomes???.

    1. The investigation will end up as a ???Kangeroo Court??? resulting in the censure of Gov. Palin along with a fine and possible impeachment (threat of one or actually doing one). Wether they???ll do it (or drop it after the election if McCain/Palin lose the November election) is another matter.

If they do this, it will set off (IMO) a firestorm with Alaskan voters (Palin has an approval rating of 82%) who might very well demand recalls and investigations on the investigators (or trounce them in the next election).

Palin Investigating board members Elton, French, Davis, Hoffman, and Guttenberg (members who have been recently outted as being Obama supporters....July 30th photo showing them at an Obama meeting in Alaska) must know they???re sitting on a potential powderkeg now that Palin is a VP pick. A lot of ???big guns??? will be trolling around, perhaps even trying to dig info/dirt on them. The Palins have ???lawyered up??? and are setting up for a fight. Therefore, I can only imagine how far they can ???push this???.

    2. The investigation will digg up nothering (per se), but will issue a report saying that Gov. Palin is ???technially??? innocent, but abused her power (aka: bullied Monegan). Perhaps a verbal ???slap on the wrist??? for Palin or a censure.

I think this is a possible outcome. It gives the Palin detractors their ???pound of flesh???, embarasses the VP pick, gives the MSM and the Obama camp ???bullet points???, but won???t trip a ???nuclear response??? (IMO) from the public.

    3. McCain and Palin (along with the blogger, Palin supporters, and Alaskan citizens) wage a nasty fight over this and play some serious hardball. Palin has struck a chord with the public and the constant attacks over the past two weeks have made a lot of people cynical at the press/detractors. She has garnered, as they in politics, a coating a teflon.

The ???troopergate??? could find itself backing down as key members of the investigation have been ???outted??? as Obama supporters. Also, the inflamitory remarks made by Hollis French (???October Surprise???, ???damaging to the Gov???, possible ???impeachement???) to the press (before any depositions were taken or before any fact-finding was done) have tainted the proceedings.

  • Posted By: imho3665 @ 09/10/2008 12:34:03 PM

Of course Palin didn't cut funding for special needs children, once she knew she had one. Note the date of when she signed the legistation. Its pretty clear she considers public funds as her own personal 'piggy' bank. Her sugar daddy is Uncle Sam and the people of Alaska.

Wow this is an extremely weak piece for Fact Check

    Look deeper...

    1. She got the librarian fired:
Anchorage Daily News Sept. 4, 2008
    http://www.adn.com/sarah-palin/story/515512.html
"According to news coverage at the time, the librarian said she would definitely not be all right with it. A few months later, the librarian, Mary Ellen Emmons, got a letter from Palin telling her she was going to be fired. The censorship issue was not mentioned as a reason for the firing. The letter just said the new mayor felt Emmons didn't fully support her and had to go."

    2. She supported teaching creationism in schools:
Anchorage Daily News Oct. 27, 2006
    http://dwb.adn.com/news/politics/elections/story/8347904p-8243554c.html

PALIN: "Teach both. You know, don't be afraid of information. "Healthy debate is so important and it's so valuable in our schools. I am a proponent of teaching both. And you know, I say this too as the daughter of a science teacher. Growing up with being so privileged and blessed to be given a lot of information on, on both sides of the subject -- creationism and evolution. It's been a healthy foundation for me. But don't be afraid of information and let kids debate both sides."

    3. She was a brigader for Pat Buchanan as described by Pat see on you tube:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U9rZkJfKoEU

    4. She gave the welcome speech for AIP in 2008
