In a few weeks we will make a choice that will decide our future.
I follow an economist named Bob Proctor. He has called the top and bottom of every market crash since the 70s correctly.
Also, he perfectly predicted the current real estate market meltdown and the picture he paints about what will happen in the next couple years
is terrifying. He thinks it will be worse then the great depression.
The banks in the U.S. are going under one after the other. Countrywide ,Bear Stearns, Lehman Brothers and Merrill Lynch , Fanny and Freddy Mae ,AIG
The government took them over because they are essentially bankrupt. Even with the goverment nationalizing hundreds of billions of dollars in debt the stock market is crashing
the credit markets are frozen and all of us may suffer beyond anything in the last 80 years.
McCain just like Bush " doesn't understand the economy".
That not just my opinion its his own words. Not only does he not understand how to fix it but he does not understand exactly what is broken.
It is no surprise that he doesn't. The people that make up these securities use complex mathematical models very few people understand.
Bush and McCain both can take the credit for this mess since they helped deregulate the laws that were protecting us.
Bush's economic advisor Phil Graham wrote the deregulation bill that allowed banks to take huge risks with all of our future.
Now, Phil Graham is the head of McCain's economic policy. He is also McCain's choice for the next secretary of the treasury.
No one in this country can afford for that to happen. The last time Bush met with his economic advisors was in March. He didnt realize that anything was wrong. Phil Graham had the guts to say that we are in a mental recession after he helped create the worst economy meltdown in our lifetime. Check out this link to the truth http://my.barackobama.com/keatingvideo
It will take the best and brightest minds in the world to get us out of this nightmare. As bad as Bush has done, McCain would be
even more destructive because things are in much worse shape. The next president will not inherit a surplus like Bush did but a crashing economy and a 11,600,000,000,000 (trillion) dollars deficit. Most of it Bush created and it will take decades to pay it back.
If you do what you have always done then you will get what you have always got.
When it comes to policy Bush and McCain are the same 90 percent of the time.
So why are the polls even close then ?
Mccains team just said they no longer want to talk about the economy.Instead they would like to spend time talking about obama
which means running the biggest smear campaign in history.
They think they can just tell you lies and you wont be smart enough to see through it
Let's teach him we are smarter than that .
    Elect Obama Biden 2008

"physicist would say the risk is minimal" of course they will say this, especially if the government told them to say that, especially because an enormous amount of money already spended on this project. They simply don't want the panic among people.

  • Posted By: swc29 @ 10/02/2008 6:19:48 PM

If your worried about the LHC project destroying the world with highly energic particals, remember, that space has been sending stuff like this to our planet for billions of years. We are still OK. As a physicist would say the risk is minimal. A normal person would say, there isn't a chance in hell that this experiment is going to destroy the world.

While physical collisions are already happening much more powerfully and frequently in the natural universe, we don't live out there, we live here. It is irresponsible for any government to allow testing that hasn't been proven safe for the planet. While these scientists want answers within their lifetimes, they should consider that we won't have anyone left to interpret the data if we blow up the darn marble!

That's all well and dandy, but if this goes wrong, it will go HORRIBLY wrong...They are dealing with nuclear and atomic energy here. If there is an explosion, it could cause a hole the size of Geneva Switzerland. We would feel it all over the world, and it would kill hundreds of thousands of people. all for the sake of science. On the other hand though, If it does work, there are endless possibilities in the data it produces.

This may well be the biggest and most expensive, but, it's timing and potential are right on the mark.

i think its an amazing experiment that science is going to spread in a wide area and its going to be a flash for the entire world

  • Posted By: nahummer @ 09/14/2008 3:26:37 PM

Well, we didn't all get swallowed up in a micro black hole or strangelet...yet, don't forget they haven't started smashing protons together at full speed, and won't for awhile.

In this first decade of 21st century scientists have set up largest research laboratory to probe smallest particle. Hope their experiment would promote Love, Harmony and Collaboration (LHC) amongst humans in the coming decades.

i think this experiment is something that was gonna be done either today or 50 years from today, people are great at being curiouse about life, i just think everyone should understand that these are scientists and it's there LIFE'S work to do research on this and calculate all outcomes..from good to bad, but i bet if they honestly felt there were to be more harm than good they woulda went with that and not try to attempt this experiment

yo ya'll need to tear down this stupid *** machine this lhc. this is dumb ok. no one cares about what happend a couple million years ago ok no one because we are living but that might soon come to an end cause you really are goin to turn this bitch on for somethin stupid like trying to figure out what killed the dinos. tear it down. oh and if some one didn't notice 5.3 billion dollars put into something that has high probibility of killing us all. *** TEAR IT DOWN DUMBASSES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and im not event out of high school and im smart enough not to build some machine that could kill everyone you re re

The scientists can not be 100% sure that there will not be a harmful outcome to this therefore should leave well alone. I have not spoken to one person who is happy that this is going ahead. What happened to majority rules. No one asked us non scientists opinion. So call scientists originally told everyone the earth was flat. Remember the Voyager that exploded. One scientist told them not to go ahead as the space rocket could explode but the rest let it go ahead and look what happened!!

This person is happy that the Large Hadron Collider is going ahead. Basic scientific research is the most important kind. It may not have any practical application today, but it gives us the basic knowledge on which future practical inventions will be based.

It is unfortunate that the news media latch onto the "black hole that will swallow the earth" headlines. Such nonsense simply frightens those who have little understanding of science.

I'm seeing some hysteria here, which I'm afraid the press has contributed to by accepting the anti-LHC alarmists' descriptions of themselves and treating their claims as being just as worthy of consideration as those of the particle physicists that actually have expertise in the relevant field. Just to take an example, this article contains the phrase "Walter Wagner, a researcher in Hawaii," which in the context might naturally lead a reader to think that Wagner was a physics researcher, probably a particle physicist with a PhD. But, no, his science degree is an undergraduate one in Biology.

Wagner has made a hobby (expensive for others) of filing lawsuits to stop the commencement of new accelerator experiments, based on doomsday arguments. He tried it some ten years ago with the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider at Brookhaven National Laboratory, using basically the same arguments as he now uses against the LHC. The RHIC has been running safely for eight years. Many more people have internet access now, so a very few people can have an enormous impact if they want to scare people, using a bogus authority as scientists, especially if the press goes along with the charade.

There is no danger. Not a single one of the thousands of particle physicists in the world has voiced any concern about the experiments; because there are very sound reasons to know they are safe, both from experimental observation and basic physics principles.

I have written about the anti-LHC campaign and the two scientists (with no particle physics expertise) that have recently come up with (mutually exclusive) results purporting to show deadly danger from black holes (results that have been decisively smacked down due to beginner's errors they contained) in a blog post called "Large Hadron Collider: What???s the Risk?" at onscreen-scientist.com.

-"Comment: wow this is crazy why?????????????? is all i can ask why would u want to know who cares live life for the moment!!!!!!!!!!"

You've got to realize LifeiWonder321, and the rest of the folk reading this scientific knowledge, that if it were'nt for the great minds of science, then there would hardly be any moment to live in... to sustain we must grow. to grow, it to experiment. in turn you owe your own thoughts tat you shared here to minds of people, who wondered what, where, and why

For the dyslexic, Large Hadrons Colliding is really quite gross. But they are really not as large as they are cracked up to be, and their colliding could hardly do any harm. The scientists would be over joyed if a few actually collided.
