What Will the Collider Tell Us?

Wow Crazy ! But all i can say is why would you want to know this 3.8 billion what that money could have did alot we got to stop this from going on like now black holes crazy crazy am out !

reminds me of the films event horizon and contact somehow except those movies would have cost less 1000 times over. that money could have researched a cure for cancer or even AIDS or fed every starving child in the entire third world. BLOODY BOFFINS!!!

Has anyone ever seen the movie Event Horizon? This LHC experiment has very scary similarities to the plot.
Or maybe its more like the Jodie Foster movie Contact. Both those movies were cheaper to make 100 times over. That money could have fed every starving child in the third world or gone towards research into an cancer or AIDS cure.

We still dont even know EVERYTHING in our world and universe! TELL ME WHY ARE YALL DOING THIS!!!!

How is the eternal quest for knowledge possible if we dont do tests? in my opinion we are at the brink of new technology and ides that, as a result of experiments like this, may come to light. The human race i am sure would not want to "blow up the planet" just to see a few particles to the humpty dance. The scientist that are invoved in this are the smartest and most qualified to come up with new data and who knows, we might find out how how to make a new material that is weightless @ infinite speed. The basis of doing this may seem out of this world to most of us but the results i think will make our lifes a tad bit more fun and bring about technology that was something from the "Future".

I don't know why everyone is so worried about an expieiment that the world top scientist are apart of. The one greatest thing that could come out of this iis: if we find out where all the extra mass went , then why could'nt we build a weightless material that is so far fetched but true that now we have interstellar space travel. infinite speed=infinnate weight. But what if you subtract the weight and just have infinite speed?!? essentially it would be a jumbo jet that a baby could lift. This is just one example that i am very excited to find out about. I am not scared any more of this thing than the 2012 deal.

If one man could get the death penalty for killing just one person, what should happen to the scientists involved with this experiment?????!!!!! They are risking everyones lives!!!!! So if this experiement does work, what do they plan on doing.......... making new universes or something????? We still dont even know EVERYTHING in our world and universe! TELL ME WHY ARE YALL DOING THIS!!!!

Im not exactly excited to see what happens. I am honestly scared to death, its ALL I been thinking about. I dont get why people HAVE to know. God started this earth, we should leave it up to him to end it! So, some scientist are going to do this experiment, even though it could WIPE OUT THE WHOLE ENTIRE UNIVERSE!! Thats not right!! Unlike them, I WANT to live. So what are you going to say if it goes wrong?? "Sorry world I made a mistake". I hope those scientists will be happy, && be able to sleep at night knowing he could kill EVERYONE!.. I hope that can make him feel real shitty.

Its hard to say the impact that an experiment of this degree could have, unless all of the possible outcomes could be considered prior to its occurance. If we had all of the data required to formalute this perspective we would not need to perform the experiment, simply becuase posessing all of the data would allow us to determine the conclusion. Obviously there are unforseen possabilities. I am not as concerned about the side effects of the experiment, as I am with what we might do with the technology that we will inevitably create in the wave of its outcome.

Today was not what 'doomsayers' are worried about. They didn't smash any particles. One of the fears (healthy) is that it could create mini black holes that would accrete matter at very tiny amounts, but grow exponentially. That's Otto Rossler's big worry.

But beyond that, there is an overwhelming amount of uncertainty as to the unknown causes and effects that this will have. Go to the CERN 'safety' page under the mini black hole problem. It is a litany of contradictions. First they say, there will be no mini black holes, then they say, there is a theory that there will be mini black holes, then, if there are mini black holes, they will be positive or neutral, then, maybe this will happen, then, maybe that will happen.

They have no real certainty about the outcomes of what they're doing and they're toying around with things that may produce effects that no one ever thought of or could have thought of.

Yup, all this evil technology will be our undoing. WE'RE ALL DOOMED I TELL YA! ...I have to laugh at those who condemn technology while enjoying comforts and conveniences that are a result of it. Or maybe I have it all wrong and I should ditch my laptop and move into a cave. Mass produced gumball machine toys are are the abominations of technology, not the device that could help us understand the universe.

I believe this kind of thing show us the men' capacity to do something if they wants so, but, in the same way, show the big problm that the consequences , for example, finances, natural and pisicic, that this expirience can get us. I'm a kind of afraid and so hopefull 'cause I'm prove a moment of history, never ever happened, while, I know this can give us bad things and the money was putted there, could be for other think....
