yes your right that a proton has a positive charge but because they will be shooting them at each other at the speed of light, this is how they will colide

PROTON HAS POSITIVE CHARGE SO MY COMMENT IS THAT HOW IT WILL POSSIBLE AS BY PHYSICS TWO POSITIVE CHARGE (PROTON) HAVE A NATURE OF REPULSION WITH EACH OTHER
You know what we call the time on earth when religion ruled with an iron fist? 'The Dark Ages.'
"he's just simple" My IQ is 184 and I am not simple, but I tell you without a doubt that God does exist. Nothing of any real value will come from the data of the LHC.
OK, so lying on the Internet is in order to try to prove that god exists. What a joke. Oh, my IQ is 185, 1 point higher on the imaginary scale I'm sure you are using, notice how I can lie too? God doesn't exist, please do everyone a favor, and don't breed. Science is here to stay, now get back to your ipod, TV, computer, car and everything else science and the understanding of physics has brought you.
Actually my IQ is between 184 and 186, but I choose to be modest. I have been tested by six colleges over a period of five years. There was never a time in which science did not exist. Without the laws of God in place, science could not exist, this dimension would be chaos. A purposeful being ordered the universe, so that we could exist and in time discover Him through all He had created.
You're a f*cking idiot. An egotistical idiot, to think somehow there's a special supernatural entity who will grant you everlasting life...AFTER YOU DIE... because you're somehow more special than all the other life forms on this planet.

I choose to be modest too, mine is actually between 185 and 191. I was tested at seven colleges over a period of eight years. This is fun.
Gzus666 : Dumb dont try to be smart ... All the things you said which was invented by scientist - Believe in God
Such a convincing argument from someone with the grammatical ability of a trained ape. I mean, I have no problem with some typos or a misuse of a word, but this is just atrocious.
This won't prove or disprove the existence of God, just like all other attempts before it. If it were possible to prove God's existence then it would be a matter of acquired intelligence needed to earn your way to Heaven. Since no one is perfect by anyone else's standard, then by what standard do we use to measure "good enough" to stand next to a presumably perfect God? Likewise, if it were possible to prove God does not exist then what hope is there is anything - nothing would have any value outside of itself and would devolve unto its own destruction.
You will only find evidence either way and have to make your own choice (or choose not to make any choice).
I think the fact that we can't prove or disprove His existence is in and of itself evidence for God. Our written record says that faith alone, not earning or achieving or intelligence can do it. That is consistence with our evidence collected so far.
Interesting also that those that oppose God tend to respond with negative emotion, hatred, anger, etc. - instead of simply and peacefully disagreeing. That behavior is also evidence for God's existence.
We have Creation, the Bible, and the Testimony of Jesus (along with witnesses) - all evidence for God. I choose to believe. I'm not simple, stupid, arrogant, judgmental, or preaching and I don't hate you for disagreeing.
There is no evidence of god, because god doesn't exist. The same people who gave you god also thought the earth was flat and everything in the universe revolved around us. Galileo (whom I was born exactly 413 years after) was thrown in jail by the roman catholic church until he recanted his helio-centric theory that the earth revolved around the sun. It goes to show your steeply flawed 'intelligence' that you think 2000 year old books prove god exists. Personally I think you're a f*cking moron. Religion plays on stupid people's fear of death to promise an afterlife in exchange for controlling their stupid, simple minds. Religion causes war and hate. Get over it, there is no god, there is no supernatural entity in the sky watching over everything you do. How egotistical people are to believe in god, to believe they are somehow special in this huge universe, that somehow they are special and receive everlasting life (oh yeah, after you die), as long as you submit to complete lack of logic. That's why we call you 'sheeple.'
Man I'm sick of all the ignorant comments here. The truth is, we really DON'T KNOW what the results of the machine will be. First off, theres a high probability that black holes can be created. The stupid argument that the scientists use, "we'll be fine because cosmic rays hit Earth all the time and we're fine" is complete and utter bulls***. Cosmic rays from outer space hit STATIONARY objects on Earth, NOT OBJECTS ALSO MOVING AT THE SPEED OF LIGHT! Particles that are BOTH going the speed of light and collide does NOT happen naturally. Thats a big problem right there. Second, we're relying on black holes to disappear because of a THEORY. A THEORY!!! Thats all 'Hawking Radiation' is...an unproven theory. If he's wrong, we're all dead.
Maybe the world wont end tomorrow, but as they increase to higher energies throughout the year I can almost guarantee something will go wrong. Cherish your last remaining moments with your loved ones and Earth....wont be around for long
Oh, the earth is stationary, huh? Silly me, I was taught in (catholic) school that the earth is circling the sun at some ungodly speed, something like 44,000 mph. Space is a big place.
all i can say is that if we are made in the image of god, and god is perfect, then does't that stand to reason that we are perfect as well? OR did god screw up? thereby making him/her imperfect as well?
There is no god. Get over it. Religion is the tool of the smart to control the stupid. Religion plays on one's fear of mortality, promising you everlasting life after you die, without (in 5000 years of 'civilization') a single shred of evidence. All religion does is cause war and dupe stupid non-thinkers out of money. In this indescribably huge universe, what makes you think you're so special that there's some SUPERNATURAL entity that gives a crap about you?
What bugs me is these stupid people named it 'the god particle,' as if the existence or absense of this particle has anything to do with god. Same way with the botonists who claim we have a 'god' gene. Please. Get over it. Pull your heads out of your rectums, there is no god, the whole of religion is based on people profiting off the fear of death, since everyone dies, religion promises salvation without a shred of proof and in opposition to absolutely everything we know about the universe. Religions cause war.
It's absolutely retarded that they call it the 'god' particle. The same way botanists (or whatever you want to call them) have labeled a 'god' gene. There is no god, get over it, pull your heads out of your rectums.
The part I still find extreme is the high volume of scientists involved with this project. I admit I don't know what is reasonable but I haven't seen anything that explains why 10,000. This seems like an immense number of individuals that could contribute to security breeches, and other sorts of safety issues. Granted the safety committee has considered this but it doesn't make it any less difficult to manage. What sort of arguments will arise when scientists or countries try to claim ownership from information gained from this experiment?
I just want to know where this 5 billion dollars is coming from? And though I'm not discounting it's importance, I just feel that a sum of money so large could go towards something we KNOW exists like third world poverty, starvation, and various other humantarian efforts.
Giving these groups of people money will solve nothing except temporarily end their suffering...maybe. This is assuming no one runs in and steals from them in your wonderful countries like parts of Africa, where they are constantly at war. Giving someone something won't help anyone. Nature is a mean beast if you are on the wrong side of it, and while I'm sure none of them deserve it, a fix for this would be to leave at any cost, and yes I know it is easier said than done, but the easy way out isn't always the best. One would think that they would slow down on reproduction, so as to not starve themselves out, but man is a dumb animal en mass. A wonderful proverb goes "give a man a fish, he eats for a day, teach a man to fish, he eats for a lifetime". No one benefits from handouts, we give the third world literal tons of food, and it helps nothing. I'm sure it sounds harsh, but that is reality, when a species over breeds for an area, they are forced to die out to balance it out for the resources they have access to. So, long story short, no, I highly doubt they could have found a better way to spend the money. Think about it this way, if the advances move as hoped, maybe sometime soon they will find better ways to help everyone.
Finally we will discover, through science, that an incomprehensible Infinite Presence enables the infinite and finite to co-exist! Will science recognize the axiom? If it does then perhaps the illogical concerns raised by good people for very good reason will be reconciled by those that are instead challenged by that which they cannot know.

We're about to finally discover, through science, that an incomprehensible Infinite Presence is the only thing that we can ever atrtribute with any credence that enables the infinite and finite to co-exist? Will science recognize the axiom? If it does perhaps we will see a return to basic principles at the root of the concern being expressed by so many people, without logical reason, but with every good instinct.

Safety of the Large Hadron Collider is unknown, the experiment is unprecedented in nature and planetary risk has not been conclusively excluded.
The safety opposition alleges CERN is misrepresenting the certainty of safety and did not properly address[9] compelling opposition arguments by credible senior scientists including visiting professor of Physics Dr. Otto Rössler[1][2] and Physics PHD Dr. Rainer Plaga[3].
Planetary safety arguments include disputed cosmic ray arguments[1][2][3] and refuted Hawking Radiation[4][5].
Earlier in 2008 CERN acknowledged that if micro black holes were created[6] by head-on collissions in particle colliders some would travel too slowly to escape Earth while cosmic ray created stable micro black holes would not be stopped by Earth.[7] This safety argument flaw was as discovered by former Cosmic Ray Researcher, California Math Champion and Nuclear Safety Officer Walter L. Wagner.[8]

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Otto_R%C3%B6ssler
Otto Rossler is not a physics scientist, he is a biochemist, and was at one point, toying with the idea of becoming a monk. Yes, lets trust his thoughts on the issue, even though he has a degree in medicine. Plaga is more than qualified in his degrees and research, and I will respectfully say the man has his stance, but if 10,000 of your peers have checked over your work, wouldn't you lean towards there being an issue with your stance, especially since they have a safety committee dedicated to checking just these concerns, and have stated he is incorrect in his theory? It isn't "if" micro black holes are created, they are going to be created, that is the point. Once again, sometimes fear causes people to jump to conclusions. And most of these doubts rely on Hawking's theory being incorrect, and they say it can't be tested. While this is true, Quarks haven't been actually shown, but they know they exist. Einstein had to leave some blanks to progress nuclear science further, and while he didn't know certain aspects, he made it happen, cause even though they have a blank, they can still theorize what is there, and they have showed time and time again it works. Theories aren't just random ideas in science, they have serious basis, that is why while they call it "the big bang theory" and "the theory of evolution", they are clearly true, they are just working on the part where they actually show it happening time and time again, just to reassert this fact. Remember, there was serious opposition to the nuke, and MANY great scientists of the time thought it could set off all the hydrogen in the world, and chain react, blowing up the planet. Realize that they aren't jumping into this, they have done their research. There are worries, but that is always the case with new things.
Also, a lawsuit? Really? You are trying to use that as proof?
"Much of the concern over the LHC has arisen due to the interpretation of comments made by Martin Rees, an English cosmologist and astrophysicist who is President of the Royal Society and has been the Astronomer Royal since 1995. Rees authored the book Our Final Century: Will the Human Race Survive the Twenty-first Century? in which he estimates a 50% chance that mankind will destroy itself before the year 2100.[6] Rees calculated that the probability of the Large Hadron Collider to produce a global catastrophe or black hole is 1 in 50 million[1][7][8] However, Rees has also reported not to be "losing sleep over the collider," and trusts the scientists who have built it.[9] He has stated, "My book has been misquoted in one or two places. I would refer you to the up-to-date safety study."[10]"
Just thought I would post this as well, more so showing that the fear is unfounded, and I promise you, if the man who wrote the book about the chances of an LHC destroying the planet as 1 in 50 million, and holds 2 PHDs in cosmology and astrophysics says he trusts them, and the fears are silly and unfounded, and to read the safety reports, wouldn't you think about listening to him?
I'm not saying the science behind what is trying to be accomplished is flawed. I recognize if I am in a position to even argue that issue but this is not my intention. My experience in the science community has taught me that quality and control become extremely difficult to manage as more individuals become involved in a project. Also very intelligent scientists can let important practical matters go unattended not for lack of knowledge but for lack of focus. It's very likely the scientists involved with this project are working diligently to attend to every detail where security issues are concerned. But there are inherit problems due to the sheer size and scope of this project and it is here where my confidence is shaken and my concerns are formed.
Couldn't this be said for anything? Will you be so abhorrent when they start messing with fusion? Are you one of the ones who are against nuclear power? Fusion is quite a bit scarier than the particle accelerator, we are talking serious power if they perfect cold fusion. Marbles that could destroy countries. It is advancement, that is how it is, and how it always has been. If everyone was so opposed to progress, we would never get anywhere. They have been working on this for 30 years, how much longer do you expect them to research this? It is clearly enough where 10,000 people agree on something, which is utterly impossible in itself. This universe will end eventually, and collapse back in on itself, and then we will be gone anyway, back to the energy ball we began as. So, whether the world ends now, or millions of years down the road, it is just a blip in the grand scheme of things. But I can honestly say, if I have to trust someone with the world, it would be these great people. Think about this, half the world has the ability to wipe it out, and they are crazy, including our American government, yet they haven't done it. Have some faith in humanity, we haven't destroyed it yet, and I have a good feeling we never will, cause we aren't as powerful as we think. Call my "religion" the belief that the universe and every minuscule bit of it is inherently "alive" per say, and it is much more powerful as a whole than we will ever dream to be. We can master pieces of it, but we are still a part of it, and I mean that as literally as you can take it. And hey, if they are all wrong, at least we won't be alive long enough to care, ha. Little humor to break the tension there.

Gzus666 could be considered a cynical person but remember the words of G B Shaw "The power of accurate observation is commonly called cynicism by those who do not have it." I think the key issue in this debate is achieving accurate observation without becoming cynical.
I'm am a horrible cynic, and considered by many to be an a-hole. That is fine, but sometimes it is what it takes to get people past their sheep-like fear, and actually think about things. I am quite open, and if I am proven wrong, I am not too proud to face it and admit it, which is more than what I can say about many. I, like no one, don't know everything, but I pride myself on the ability to be open, and humble when it is needed. And, if you think about it, I am quite a bit less abrasive than the Christians, Muslims, Mormons, etc. that try to spread their belief, cause I don't burn anyone at the stake, bomb them, shoot them, eat their children after razing their village, or even come door to door and bother you non-stop and tell you about how you will go to some fire land if you don't believe me.
I cant believe this project was given the thumbs up, why are these idiots being paid to put everyone at risk, when they should be using their brains to find a cure for cancer or combat global warming, judging by the amount of energy this machine is about to consume and in years to come, they are just going to add to the global problems we already have. but it doesn't matter what we think they are going to risk us anyway.
Look out, Mojojojo is here to save the day with his amazing scientific advancements, more so than the "idiots" of the scientific community. They are physics scientists, why would they research health and chemist issues? Global warming isn't currently proven from cause and effect standpoint, and they already show that many of the "issues" aren't really doing much. The water will rise a few centimeters, life can actually spawn more freely, including plants like plankton now that they have room for sunlight to grow. Polar bears existed over 120,000 years, which means they have lived when there was no ice, so that isn't an issue. They have yet to prove CO2 is a cause, and not a side effect of something else. Just as a note, this does in no way mean I condone the use of fossil fuels, and I'm all for new energy, but that is where physics experiments come in.
http://www.dailytech.com/A+Melting+Arctic+Happy+News+for+Mankind/article12882.htm
Fine example of these things, and until they do more than just say it is a problem, I am not going to blindly believe that somehow an element (CO2) that is heavier than the rest of the elements in air is somehow raising from low level to high level, even though plants breathe it at a low level, I will ignore these chicken little scenarios. Remember the Ozone holes that were supposedly causing it? What happened to that after 10 years of preaching it as fact? Oh, that's right, they discovered it was normal, and they were full of it. Jumping to conclusions is what scientists do when they are more excited about endless grants from fear, rather than adhering to the scientific method.
When they first tested the nuke, they thought it might destroy the earth from a giant hydrogen chain reaction, and they protested the crap out of it, remind you of anything? But, if you use common sense instead of fear, you would have made the connection that hydrogen would have to be more abundant in our atmosphere and compressed to do this. But, lets keep jumping to conclusions, that is clearly the way to go. THE SKY IS FALLING!!!!
Where I stated "Element" I meant "Molecule"
I respectfully disagree that my fears are unfounded. The larger the scale and the more people involved the higher likelihood of loss of control. A quantum physicist should recognize this issue. Ten thousand scientists are involved...how many different countries does this involve? I'd like to think this is a great humanitarian effort but from a practical view point I see to great of opportunity for the wrong people to worm their way into the process. and create havic. It is difficult for me to understand how anyone could think a project of this scale is a good idea.
OK, if your fears are founded, that would mean you have evidence to the contrary of what the 10,000 scientists in this field have discovered. What you should do, is put your hypothesis together, and send it to them with all the facts you have gathered from your research. Send it to them, and I'm sure if it is a real threat, they will be more than willing to take a second look at their findings. Let me guess, you do no research in this field? What a shocker, who would have thought that when people don't understand something, they usually fear it, almost like it is human instinct. But, that is the point where people who logically think things through quell that fear with thought. But I'm sure everyone is happy to hear how you disagree with the smartest people in the world, and use nothing but the internet and fear to back up your claim. Good job, you are a hero for all.
