Governor Palin???s daughter has been engaged to the child???s father for 6 months and she is 5 months pregnant. What does that have to do with running Office? Supports Guns? Why not, last time I looked it was a constitutional right? Fires people who don't believe what she does? What constituted the firing was a commissioner who refused to look into complaints from several different sources of a state trooper drunk in a patrol car, Period. Had the commissioner done his job and property investigated the complaints and found no foundation, he would not have been fired. He was fired for failure to investigate.

Sarah Palin as Governor balanced a 500 billion dollar state budget with a surplus. Lets??? overlook the fact that with Canada on one side and Russia across the bay, and Sarah Palin commander of the State National Guard, she also has strong national security and domestic policy experience. Sarah Palin cut over 500 million dollars of Government waste and returned oil profits to the people of Alaska. Sarah Palin established a natural gas pipeline that will help eliminate our dependency on foreign oil. These are just a few of her "inexperienced" accomplishment.

Exactly what does Barack Obama have to show in EXECUTIVE EXPERIENCE? ZERO! Barack Obama did vote present on 130 times without casting a vote on important Reform Legislation. Barack Obama did vote to cut off troop funding in 2006. Barack Obama has flip-flopped on issues from Off Shore Drilling to the War in Iraq. Barack Obama at Rally in Scranton, PA, praised the Democratic Supporters for their strong family, religious and gun support foundation, as keeping this country strong. At the San Francisco, CA. rally last week, mocked these same "Mid West Values," as being out of touch.

Barack Obama doesn't have the intestinal fortitude to take the McCain/Biden team head on in debates. He sends out "Female Democratic Politician surrogates" to take on Sarah Palin. Barack Obama doesn't give a hoot about "Women's" rights; he just doesn't want to get his hand dirty doing his own work. Senator Hillary Clinton and Governor Sarah Palin, in different ways, are positive examples for working mothers, women struggling to make ends meet, and what levels of improvement can be reached. For Democratic female politicians to turn on one of their own, (Political Party aside) is reprehensible, for a spineless wimp, like Barack Obama?

John McCain has asked Barack Obama on eight (8) separate occasions over the summer, to debate the issues before the American People. Barack Obama has refused each invitation. Barack Obama's is attacking his opponent's families. It looks to me like the Democrats don't care what type of inexperienced, shallow, spineless candidate they have, just as long as they win. What good is Barack Obama winning, he is indecisive as Senator, lacks Character, won???t fight his own battles, and doesn't know the first thing about Executive Policy -Domestic o

PALIN LEFT HER TOWN OF WISALLA ALASKA, IN DEBT.....

HER BIGGEST CONTRIBUTION OR PROJECT WAS A "ICE HOCKEY RINK" WITHOUT PURCHASING THE LAND TO MAKE THE ROADS THAT LEAD TO THE RINK, WHICH IS NOW IN LITIGATION !!!

SHE ALSO LIED ABOUT THE GOVERNOR'S PLANE SHE SOLD "AT A PROFIT" ON EBAY...HA !!!

THE PLANE WAS NEVER SOLD ON EBAY AND SOLD PRIVATELY, AT A LOSS OF 600,000 DOLLARS !!

NOTE: WHEN THE GOVERNOR'S PLANE WAS NOT BEING USED, IT WAS BEING USED TO TRANSPORT ALASKAN PRISONERS TO THE STATE OF ARIZONA, WHAT MODE OF TRANSPORTATION AT THE TAX PAYERS EXPENSE, IS PALIN USING NOW, TO TRANSPORT ALASKAN PRISONERS...HMMMM

THE "BRIDGE TO NOWHERE" MILLIONS WAS NOT REURNED, AS SHE IMPLIES "WE'LL DO IT OURSELVES" NO WAY IN THE HELL, DID ALASKANS "DO IT THEMSELVES" PALIN TOOK THE MILLIONS AND USED IT FOR OTHER STATE MATTERS...

OPPOSED TO SENDING THE MILLIONS BACK !!!

THE GOVERNMENT REFUSED TO SEND THE REAMAINING MILLIONS, SHE WANTED AND JOHN MCCAIN WAS DEAD SET AGAINST IT AND VOTED AGAINST IT AS WELL AS OTHERS!!

THEY SAID TO PALIN "IF YOU WANT TO BUILD A DAMN BRING, TO WHEREVER, BUILD IT YOURSELF"

INSTEAD, THE HEFFA, USED THE MILLIONS GIVEN TO ALASKA, TO DO OTHER THINGS, BUT SHE & ALASKA WAS NOT SO SELF SUFFICIENT THAT SHE RETURNED THE MILLIONS, GIVEN TO THAT GOD AWFUL & CORRUPT STATE !!!

THAT GAS AND OIL PIPELINE, THAT SHE BRAGGED ABOUT LAST WEEK, WAS PLANNED BY THE LAST GOVERNOR, THIS WOULD'VE HAPPENED NO MATTER WHAT !!

THE OIL COMPANIES ARE BUILDING A GAS AND PIPELINE ON THEIR OWN ANYWAY IN ALASKA !!

      THE B!TCH IS A FRAUD !!

Alaska has a 500 billion dollar budget? Hello?! Earth to blogger! California, with a population 60 times the state of Alaska, and without nearly the per capita pork inflow, has a budget just in excess of $100 billion. Check your facts before you spew.

      • Posted By: TheVigil @ 09/10/2008 5:19:51 PM

Yeah, I don't think that post is credible in the least if errors of that magnitude are present.

        "Alaska???s gross domestic product (GDP)
by state grew from $39 billion in 2005
to $41 billion or by 0.5 percent, in 2006." -- From a report co-authored BY Sarah Palin in 2006.

That's GDP, not the state budget. The state has a capital budget of around $3B and an operating budget of $6.5B or so. Just for reference, Chicago's "budget" is around $9B or so as far as I could find out.

Now, the greatest budget I have experience in managing is in the thousands per month I used to clear after taxes. A few of us who are managers at companies may have experience managing up to a few million per month, even! So honestly, what qualifies us as experts in how to manage a $9 BILLION dollar budget?

I'm not saying we shouldn't review it for waste and whatnot, but honestly, every single person who thinks they have what it takes to manage a hundred feuding state or federal agencies, the hundreds of pork-barrel requests in key election areas, and federal or international contributions in the hundreds of millions or billions when a lot of us don't balance our checkbooks every month comes off as really hypocritical. Come on, people.

You know the difference between Sarah Palin and a pitbull? Clearly the ability to defend ones self. Mabey the proper analogy is comparing Sarah Palin to a miniature poodle, a lot of yipping with a bow on, and not much else.

  • Posted By: edpaz @ 09/10/2008 7:22:23 PM

For pearsoncrz: Did you read the excerpts from the court transcript? It says the judge warned "her" and her family. It seems to be the American way to immediately jump on something whether true or not, before they check the sources of the story. Never believe anything until you are sure the sources are credible. Lack of common sense is the very reason we may end up with Palin in the Whitehouse...God forbid!

  • Posted By: sowhatisnttaken @ 09/10/2008 7:17:32 PM

From reading the Judge's comments, the stop disparaging remark ,'is a form of child abuse', is about comments made within the family not in the media. And, does not specifically reference Ms. Palin. Okay, so where is the NEWS media?

The Obama Kool-Aid. I wish they did have it, then we could serve it to people like you and get on the road to fixing this country.

We did not attack Iraq because of 911, and even Bush didn't say that we did. We did it for WMD. And to rid Iraq of a dictator. There was NO evidence that Saddam was trying to acquire WMD, and any half-baked claims that he was have been thoroughly disproven. But Bush wanted his war, so took the focus from Bin Laden to chase down Saddam. He had to look tough, if you remember, after getting punked by China and letting the WTC and the Pentagon get blown up.

You need to use your brain. I am not even saying agree with me or Obama, or anyone else. Just stop watching fox news and read something and connect the dots. We are in this mess because of Bush and Cheney. Palin and McCain agree with them on average of 95% of the time between them . And you want 4-12 more years of this.

A 2nd grader with an unsharpened pencil could connect the dots and tell you that voting for McCain/Palin is stupidity, unless you absolutely love the state of our economy, foreign relations and energy situation right now.

THE PEOPLE SAID IN PROTEST, NO BLOOD FOR OIL....SARAH PLAIN IS QUOTED AS SAYING, "THIS WAR IN IRAQ IS ABOUT OIL AND NATURAL RESOURCES"

DO YOUR DAMN RESOURCES AND DEPROGRAM YOURSELF FROM SEAN, RUSH AND ANNE AND FOX NEWS.
      -------------------------------

      1. THE INVASION OF IRAQ WAS JUSTIFIED BASED ON A DECEPTION, ABOUT [WOMDS] IN IRAQ ...BOZO THE CLOWN !!!

      2. WE'VE LOST MORE GOOD MEN AND WOMEN IN IRAQ, THAN THE [911 ATTACKS] OVER 6,000 AND COUNTING...DUMBO !!!

      3. THOUSANDS THAT HAVE HAD THEIR LEGS AMPUTATED, DOUBLE AMPUTATIONS.

      4. THOUSANDS OF BURN VICTIMS FAMILY HEARTACHE AND THE BILLS ASSOCIATED WITH PHYSICAL THERAPY.

      5. THE WAR COST IN IRAQ IS OVER 10 BILLION PER MONTH !!
      -------------------------

MCCAIN ALWAYS PATS HIMSELF ON THE BACK ON THE "SURGE" BUT HE FAILS TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT "THE SURGE" WAS NOT HIS IDEA, IT WAS GENERAL MCFARLAND'S !!!

IF NOT FOR "THE ANBAR AWAKENING" WHICH HAPPENED A YEAR BEFORE "THE SURGE" IS THE VERY REASON WHY "THE SURGE" WAS A SUCCESS !!

"THE SURGE" HAPPENED IN ANBAR PROVINCE AND THE "SURGE" HAPPENED IN BAGDAD, THIS HAPPENED BEFORE GENERAL PATRAEUS AND WAS GENERAL MCFARLAND'S STRATEGY,

THOUGH SEMI-SENILE MCCAIN LOOKED LIKE A FOOL, TRYING TO PROJECT THAT HE KNEW SO MUCH, HE WAS NOT THE ONLY THAT VOTED IN A MAJORITY RULE VOTE, IN AGREEMENT ON "THE SURGE" DAMN !!!

MCCAIN SAID "I KNOW HOW TO WIN WARS"

WHAT "SUCCESSFUL WARS" HAS MCCAIN BEEN A PART OF, WHERE HE CONCIEVED, CREATED, HAD JOINT CHEIFS OF STAFFS AND PRESIDENTS HAVE SIGNED OFF ON AND DON'T SAY THE "SURGE" THATS GENERAL MCFARLAND'S STRATEGY, IF YOU WANT TO CAL IT THAT ?

SENDING AN ADDITIONAL 30,000 TROOPS TO BAGDAD, NOT ANBAR PROVINCE.

IT TOOK HIM [5 YEARS] FOR THE PRESIDENT, THE SENATE, SEN. MCCAIN INCLUDED AND CONGRESS TO FINALLY GET RIGHT AFTER THOUSANDS OF DEATHS AND PERMANENTLY INJURED U.S. MEN & WOMEN TO GET IT RIGHT...HUH

Don't Compare that College Hopper Sarah Palin (6 Colleges In All) whose Grades Will Not be Released to the Public, WITHOUT HER CONSENT.

Sarah Palin who carries a Degree in (Journalism) which has nothing to do with LAW, Political Science, Economics, National Law or International Law Or International Business or Economics !!

The Chick does not meet the Grade, You'll have McCain who Graduated at the Bottom of his Naval Academy & Sarah Palin, with a Questionable Educational History !!!
    --------------------------------

John McCain: Graduated at the Very Bottom of his Naval Class

Sarah Palin: Graduated after 6 College Jumps, with No Access to her Records, at all.

This would be the Most Under-Educated President & Vice President in USA History !!!

Beyond Any Shadow of Doubt !!!

hey Omaar I would take a Naval education anyday. Even if I was at the bottom, Some one has to finish last. Do you know what the call 2nd place............ Ist Loser. I would ask about your education level but I doubt it I could verify it.

A BI-RACIAL MAN WITH FAR MORE ACADEMIC ACCOMPLISHMENTS THAN THE (2) UNDER-EDUCATED WHITE MALE AND FEMALE RUNNING FOR THE 2 MOST SYMBOLICALLY POWERFUL POSITIONS I THE WORLD !!!!

Perhaps that is true - but that is his supervisor's call based upon other circumstances. Palin should have been fired for pushing the building of the sport arena through on land that she nor Wasilla owned - in fact she should be sued to recover the cost to the tax payers. Contract 101 - not a good contract without both signatures . . ., any IDIOT knows this..

  • Posted By: edpaz @ 09/10/2008 7:03:24 PM

It appears that Palin is more likely the "Pitt Bull with Lipstick" than a hockey mom. Her choice as McCain's running mate is one of the most disastrous in the history of this country. What kind of vetting was really done on Palin? Perhaps they talked only to her husband and perhaps her children.

  • Posted By: Goheidigo @ 09/10/2008 5:45:42 PM

"Anchorage Daily News" wrote a review about Palin's office. She of course has done some very good things, but she is also described as having very strong personal feelings towards "what's right & wrong". Palin feels that it is her "duty" to punish someone who is "wrong". That is why we have a constitution and a judicial system. Like it or not, we have them. I like her, but find her very dangerous to women & to the U.S.

    • Posted By: pearsoncrz @ 09/10/2008 6:04:28 PM

Palin seems more aware of the Constitution and due process than any of the other candidates.

Sure, she is pro-life, even in the case of rape, and opposes same-sex marriage and favors the discussion of creationism alongside evolution in schools. But she hasn't pushed for legislative changes in any of those areas.

The Associated Press reported Sept 3: "Palin's children attend public schools and Palin has made no push to have creationism taught in them. ... It reflects a hands-off attitude toward mixing government and religion by most Alaskans."

She even vetoed a bill that would have denied benefits to employees in same-sex relationships because she said it was unconstitutional.

That says plenty. It shows she knows the limits of government, and believes that government isn't there to tell us what to do.

Obama seems more inclined to use government to control what choices we have than Palin does. Have you seen HR 800? The democrats are trying to eliminate the secret ballot in union elections. That will mean another hand in the worker's pocket (for dues, which have to be paid before the worker can even get the job), and less opportunity to advance on the merits when you do have a job.

I bet all those small businesses our economy is so dependent on will be so happy to know that the democrats want to unionize every business in the country. That will definitely make their products and services more competitive with foreign competition.

    A Piggish Debate

    September 09, 2008 8:42 PM

Source: ABC News, Jake Tapper On The Pig Farce

McCain said Clinton's proposal was ???eerily??? similar to the ill-fated plan she devised in 1993.

???I think they put some lipstick on a pig,??? he said, ???but it???s still a pig.???

    A common expression, right?

McCain surely wasn't calling Clinton a pig.

After all, McCain's former press secretary, Torie Clarke, wrote a book called "Lipstick on a Pig: Winning in the No-Spin Era."

Elizabeth Edwards told some health journalists that McCain's health care plan was like ???painting lipstick on a pig.???

Tonight Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., said of McCain painting himself as a change agent, "You know, you can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig."

    The crowd rose and applauded.

(Some of them no doubt were thinking he may have been in some way alluding to Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's ad lib during her vice presidential nomination acceptance speech last week, "What's the difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull? Lipstick.")

"You can wrap an OLD FISH in a piece of paper called 'CHANGE,'" Obama continued, "it's still gonna STINK after 8 YEARS. We???ve had enough of the same old thing! It???s time to bring about real change to Washington. And that???s the choice you???ve got in this election."

Obama's campaign insisted that he was not alluding to Palin at all.

"That expression is older than my grandfather's grandfather," said Obama campaign spox Jen Psaki, "and it means that you can dress something up but it doesn't change what it is. He was talking pretty clearly about the fact that you can't just call yourself change when you've voted with George Bush 90 percent of the time."

Obama has used the expression before.

Last September, around the time McCain said it about Clinton's health care plan.

"I think that both Gen. Petraeus and Ambassador Crocker are capable people who have been given an impossible assignment," Obama said in a telephone interview.

"George Bush has given a mission to Gen. Petraeus, and he has done his best to try to figure out how to Put Lipstick on a PIG."

Why should anyone believe McCain didn't mean it about Hillary Clinton, but Obama meant it about Palin?
    ---------------------------

Had said, "You can wrap an old FISH in a piece of paper called 'CHANGE,' it's still gonna STINK after 8 YEARS."

A reporter then reminded Swift that in December, McCain was asked about criticisms coming his way from then-opponent Gov. Mitt Romney, R-Mass., and McCain replied,

"Never get into a wrestling match with a PIG. You both get dirty, and the PIG likes it."

Was McCain calling Romney a Pig ? A reporter asked Swift.

    Of course not, Swift said.

It seems to me we should have one rule. If Obama was calling Palin a pig, then McCain was calling Hillary Clinton one. If McCain wasn't, then Obama wasn't

  • Posted By: johnsdl @ 09/10/2008 4:46:58 PM

This has nothing to do with conservative or liberal. If Governer Palin did these things against her former brother in law, she was wrong. Sometimes, you must put yourself in someone shoes and ask "how would you want to be treated."

    • Posted By: Iconoblaster @ 09/10/2008 5:17:38 PM

What if Trooper Wooten actually made the threats Palin's family alleges that he did? My mother and one of my daughters, who were married to cops, went through some very unhappy experiences in divorce actions, wherein the cops being divorced used truly terrifying threats. In my mothers' case, her husband even threatened the life of my 13 year old sister, held a 357 magnum revolver to her head. But both of these misbehaving officers had the sense and training to commit these acts only when there were no other witnesses but their victims, and neither was ever sanctioned for it, despite reports. These things happen and threats often escalate to actual violence. But the police establishment is a closed society that protects its own. So again, what if Wooten actually did make the death threats reported by Palin? What would YOU do in her position? Just sit mum and wait to see if he actually murders your loved one? Run away? Give him whatever he wants?

I am not a McCain/Palin supporter. I think electing them would be a catastrophic blunder, especially after 8 years of Bush. It would be bad enough even if McCain serves out his term, but even worse if Palin is called upon to assume his office, with her parochial, "superstition over science" views on so many matters affecting public policy. There are lots of very good reasons to oppose Palin, but I don't think the so-called "troopergate" flap is one of them.

      • Posted By: pearsoncrz @ 09/10/2008 6:17:00 PM

I don't know what you mean by saying she would promote superstition over science. Sure, Palin is pro-life, even in the case of rape, and opposes same-sex marriage and favors the discussion of creationism alongside evolution in schools.

But she hasn't pushed for legislative changes in any of those areas.

The Associated Press reported Sept 3: "Palin's children attend public schools and Palin has made no push to have creationism taught in them. ... It reflects a hands-off attitude toward mixing government and religion by most Alaskans."

Obama seems more inclined to use government to control what choices we have than Palin does. Have you seen HR 800? The democrats want to do away with the secret ballot in union elections -- no more elections, just check off cards.

        • Posted By: Iconoblaster @ 09/10/2008 6:50:42 PM

I think it would be very dangerous to elect someone with Palin's metaphysical views, regardless whether she has yet attempted to get them enacted into law. Presidents appoint Supreme Court Justices, and the Senate has demonstrated that the "advise & consent" provision is not very effective at preventing the appointment of statist tools (like Roberts and Alito)... Palin, based on religious views (one man's religion is anothers superstition) disputes the reality of evolution, global warming and other scientific concepts that have won the overwhelming consensus of scientists in those fields. I've heard reports about her efforts to see those views enacted into policy that seem to contradict your assertions...such as her efforts to have books removed from the local library... and I can't readily establish which are true in this heated political climate, but it seems worse than risky to throw the dice and what she does once if she become President... and THOSE are the stakes if she is elected as VP, with a man as old as McCain in the Number One seat. Palin has said that she believes the US invasion of Iraq was doing God's work. That alone would be more than sufficient reason to do all we can to prevent her from being a hearbeat away from being "The Decider" who controls, after all is said and done, the nuclear arsenal of the United States.

  • Posted By: pearsoncrz @ 09/10/2008 6:46:29 PM

The headline here is very misleading. The only person the judge was warning was Palin's sister, not Palin.

Palin wasn't under the judge's jurisdiction, she wasn't a party to the case, and he couldn't order her to do anything.

And in case you all missed it, in his interview on CNN, the trooper admitted to tasering the boy, to drinking on the job, and to shooting the moose illegally. He said he wasn't aware of the law.

    He should have been fired.

  • Posted By: Nienna1 @ 09/10/2008 8:37:49 AM

The only thing McCain/Palin have going for them is the fact that Obama is black man. People were looking for any reason not to vote for him and they have it with Palin. She's getting them excited about everything BUT foreign policy, the economy, health care, education, jobs, the trade deficit, the budget, the national debt, international relations, care for our troops and their families, climate change, or our constitutional rights. America's dirty past has set the stage for this campaign. There are some people who are willing to vote this country backwards and let it go to hell in a handbag because they consciously or subconsciously can't bring themselves to see the value in a man of African decent even when he's right and has the facts to prove it. Every argument they have can be refuted. I am someone who has voted both Republican and Democratic in previous elections (I'm an independant) and it's appauling to see whats happening (though not unexpected). Yet, all that being said, I am holding out hope that there are some who are willing to use there ability to reason on the issues at some point before November 4th. I hope America is smarter that the media's games and McCain/Palin's diversionary tactics.

    • Posted By: realpages @ 09/10/2008 6:28:54 PM

You are so right. And so were the Clintons ... but they were scoffed at. Now, we Democrats have nominated our third straight loser because we continue deny the nature of human beings. We denied that Gore bored people to tears and had no leadership skills. We denied that Kerry's Vietnam war record would offend millions of voters. And now we have denied the fact that latent racism still exists in millions of American voters, voters who are looking for any cover to not vote for Obama simply because he is black. These are not evil people, they are merely people reacting like people influenced by biology and culture. So my fellow Democrats, to make a point, to make history, to make a group of people feel good, to have a damn impressive fireworks display in Denver, to project the naivety of the millennials, many critcally important progressive goals will be deferred for 4 years ... or more.

    • Posted By: FutureExPatriot @ 09/10/2008 8:42:49 AM

Think about that black man's beliefs! His pro abortion stand ultimately follows that of Margaret Sanger who wanted population control to eliminate the poor and, ahem, BLACKS! How wrong could Obama and his reverend (Reverend Wright) be by supporting something that was originally intended to do away with their race?

      • Posted By: Nienna1 @ 09/10/2008 9:03:25 AM

This is what I'm talking about. The abortion issue is not going to determine whether or not the dollar is strengthened; it will not determine how many allies we have to combat terrorism; it will not take our educational system out of the dark ages and prepare American children for the future; It will not create jobs through new energy technology; It will not re-instate the constitutional rights which have been trampled on by the present administration; It will not fix the economy; it will not guarantee equal pay for everyone....... I understand that there are issues which get people riled up easily, but our country is FAILING in too many ways to let the side issues take precidence. The last 4 years should be enough to remind everyone that the issues which will transform America are what we should be riled up about. I do not say this to dissagree whith your point, but rather to ask: Can we please focus on the issues that will effect all americans (pro-life & pro-choice and everyone else). This is coming from a female New Yorker who's sister was in the World Trade Center when it went down, who voted for Bush in 2000 (and regretted that choice by the evening of September 11, 2001) and who is pro-life. Please: Just think about the issues that matter and be real with yourself.

        • Posted By: HippyGrewUp @ 09/10/2008 9:47:54 AM

Not everyone considers abortion a side issue...We will never know which unborn child might have been invented new energy technology in 20 years, how many might have become mentors for our other children in need, might have been the next President...............

HippyGrewUp - and if my aunt had ....... she'd be my uncle. You'll have to fill in the blank. Bad argument, Hippy dude. What did Bush Sr. do to curtail abortion? Nothing. What have Dubya and Cheney done? Nothing. What did Bill Clinton do? Nothing. Sorry Hipster, but I just don't see women lining up in droves at abortion clinics. In fact, personally, I've known one woman in my long life who decided on this procedure. But there are more pressing issues confronting us today. These pols use abortion as an argument catalyst but they do nothing about changing the abortion laws, and they never will. Keep the government out of your personal life as much as you can, flowerchild. You will regret it if you don't.

Number 1. It isn't an argument, it's only my opinion. Number 2. I'm not a dude so don't assume..you know what they say about people who assume.. Number 3. I'm glad you've known only one person who's sought an abortion. Congratulations.(she's the one who admitted it to you).Number 4.Not that I have to spell it out, but my screen name indicates that I grew up, meaning I no longer have visions of whirled peas and all of John Lennon's dreams when in reality we all know it is impossible. We can only hope to make the right decisions on who we elect as leaders and hope no one pushes the wrong damn buttons. I am not some airhead who is so tunnel visioned that I only look at one issue. My comment was to Nienna1 and only to tell her that it wasn't minor to me.

President Bush has at least seated some less liberal judges to the Supreme Court. Bill Clinton, thank goodness kept his tallywacker out of a young later and prevented birth. I've watched abortion laws change several times in my lifetime, so don't tell me they don't change. Unfortunately, I'm disabled, so to my displeasure the government is in my life much more than I care for it to be already. You see, I have many other issues to consider, such as the future of Medicare and Social Security, which are definite issues that would tend to lead me to thinking only of myself. It's a lot for one person to think of, eh? Thanks for the brain candy. I enjoyed the jousting, but not the condescending tone from someone who knows nothing about me.

I agree. However, what we absolutely do know is that the future of this country looks dim if we don't change course. While the fight for abortion continues, the hundreds of millions of people who are alive now and being born now deserve a better country. One that works better, one that has strives to be better on all fronts. If there is to be a trade-off in this election, Im going to go with the issues that will effect our future. We need an America worthy of all the lives of it's citizens (born or not). If this country slips and becomes impoverished yet we've over-turned Roe v Wade, where does that leave us? I think we should work to eliminate teen pregnancy, rape and incest. Eliminate the need for it. Bothe Dems and Repubs agree on that point. We have work to do: Abortion cannot be the issue that determines whether we sink or swim. If that's how most American's think then we are doomed. But I stick my original comment: I think the truth lies deeper.

            • Posted By: HippyGrewUp @ 09/10/2008 11:39:36 AM

I agree too. I guess the never ending frustration to most of us who care is that there seems to be total stand still when it comes to the folks on the hill agreeing on anything. I voted for change in 2006 and Virginia actually went with a Democratic card for the first time that I can remember. To help raise funds for our infrastructure, he enacted new laws for serious highway offenses. STEEP fines for Reckless driving/DUI's/Habitual offenders and such (which I am totally for incarcerating). But we're talking about traffic tickets handed out to be paid in heavy fines by 3 payments of $1000. AND it only applied to Virginia Residents, NOT out of state offenders. That's unconstitutional. While it was noble thinking, it wasn't legal and they collected almost none of the money because the people that normally get these convictions don't have that kind of money to begin with. He was very recently defeated on a bill to increase taxes on gas, which was his next idea. d...uh.

No one will approve Nuclear energy which every developed country now uses, special interest lobbyists influence every good thing that is attempted and lines someone's pocket--Reps and Dems alike. Politicians promise us everything until they are in office. Then the reality of the Congress, Senate and House actually taking over and making the decisions are the truth at the end of the day. It's frustrating to me. Sometimes I wonder if it is even worth all the analyzing and thought that I try to put into making a decision every four years when I know that most of the decisions are going to hit this log jam of red tape. Maybe I'm just getting old. I hate being cynical but wonder if my vote will even make a difference. Like I said earlier, I hadn't even decided who I would vote for until a few days ago, and I am still not set in my mind, so I am not an extremist on either side. I've always been an independent, or I'd like to think so anyway. Thanks for taking the time to comment back. *smile*

First of all... sorry to hear about your sister.
Next: I'm real with myself. I've adopted 3 kids who might have easily been abortions. One with special needs. I know what it's like to put my beliefs before my wallet. About equal pay: I've seen too many slackers to be concerned about that. I work very hard and don't want to give it to people who don't.

you all missed, or omitted, the part of the troopers testimony where the boys family was actually observing this whole thing and laughing as the DEMONSTRATION occurred.

There is obviously much more to this than what the general public knows at this point. Why not do something intelligent like wait for all the evidence and decisions to come out. instead of prejudging, condemning and distorting this to your candidates favor.

And to oneamerican, you talk about "out of context" yet it is obvious that you do NOT know that the G** D*** statement was taken out of context because if the whole statement is heard, there were qualifications (ifs) to the G** D*** part of it.

You see, you only heard a soundbite which was only part of the whole statement. But, based on your comment, I do not think it will matter to you that you are the uninformed one here.

As an attorney, I put my money on the judge.

And, with her clout, if she didn't like the decision, the Barracuda could have appealed it.

      • Posted By: pearsoncrz @ 09/10/2008 6:26:07 PM

As an attorney you would know that the article's title is misleading because the judge could not have ordered Palin to do or not do anything. Palin was not a party in the case. Her sister was, and the judge was warning her sister, not Palin.

Moreover, it sounds like the judge got some ex parte communications from the guy's union buddy, which would be highly inappropriate. Seems like the old boys network is in play here, protecting the cop when the guy admits tazering the kid and drinking in his patrol car, and there has been sworn testimony that he threatened to kill people if they helped Palin's sister.

The misleading headline is enough to indicate that Newsweak hasn't changed its tune even if it booted Olbermann and Mathews.

You mean like Tod Palin's Former Learder of the AIP, The Alaskan Indepndence Party..

The founder of the Alaska Independence Party -- a group that has been courted over the years by Sarah Palin, and one her husband was a member of for roughly seven years -- once professed his "hatred for the American government" and cursed the American flag as a "damn flag."

The AIP founder, Joe Vogler, made the comments in 1991, in an interview that's now housed at the Oral History Program in the Rasmuson Library at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks.

"The fires of hell are frozen glaciers compared to my hatred for the American government," Vogler said in the interview, in which he talked extensively about his desire for Alaskan secession, the key goal of the AIP.

"And I won't be buried under their damn flag," Vogler continued in the interview, which also touched on his disappointment with the American judicial system. "I'll be buried in Dawson. And when Alaska is an independent nation they can bring my bones home."

Pretty strong language -- rather "inflammatory" I would call it.

So, why did Sarah and Todd Palin, at the beginning of her political career, decide to have these associations and why did he become a member for seven years?

Palin has courted the group over the years.

Three years after the controversial interview, in 1994, Palin attended the group's annual convention, according to witnesses who spoke to ABC News' Jake Tapper. The McCain campaign is disputing her presence there, but Tapper found two people to attest to it.

The McCain campaign today produced Palin's voting registration records, and said they proved she was never a member of the party.
        --------------------------------------

        * Todd Palin, Longtime Former AIP Member

        September 02, 2008 5:11 PM

Gail Fenumiai, director of the Alaska Division of Elections, tells ABC News that regardless of the impression given to members of the Alaskan Independence Party, "Gov. Sarah Palin first registered to vote in the state in May 1982 as a Republican, and she has not changed her party affiliate with the Division of Elections since that time."

That said, Fenumiai says that Palin's husband Todd was a member of the AIP from October 1995 through July 2002, except for a few months in 2000. He is currently undeclared.

So the facts are: Gov. Palin was not a member of this third-party ("Alaska First -- Alaska Always") that wants Alaskans to get a vote on whether or not the state can secede from the U.S. But her husband was a long-time member, and at least two AIP officials recall her attending the 1994 conventio

I left stupid CALIFORNIA behind and it got worse like I expected...
Why would anyone who ever hopes to have any means want to watch his childrens' inheritance get hit with a 55% tax (2 million exclusion threshhold right now... 1 million if Obama and the socialists get their way... Oh... let me translate for you: You will be able to give less to your children if Obama gets elected.)

      • Posted By: Iconoblaster @ 09/10/2008 6:21:37 PM

Yes, if Obama is elected, and his proposals enacted by Congress, you will be able to give less to your children...IF YOU ARE PREPOSTEROUSLY WEALTHY. However, most people in this country, the overwhelming majority of, will NEVER have so much money that changing the exemption from TWO MILLION DOLLARS to ONE MILLION DOLLARS will make a dime's worth of difference. People who have millions of dollars will probably never understand how petty their whining about taxes sounds to Americans who are struggling to make ends meet, feed their children, pay their medical bills. America made it possible for you to HAVE those millions....you should quit fussing that you don't like the FRACTION of your wealth that you are required to give back to the country that enabled you to obtain (don't say "earn": having lots of money doesn't prove you earned it) so much.

The boy asked the trooper to taser him out of curiosity, and he got a jolt from a hand held taser not the shooting taser guns used on adults.

Well, after reading this and hearing about the bullying, one thing is clear she certainly is a real Republican.
And read the disgusting comments here - attacking Obama and condoning this woman's behavior. Not only is she not fit to be VP, she was never fit to be Governor. She is not someone we want in power, especially after the last 8 years of thuggery.

    • Posted By: ObamaLies @ 09/10/2008 12:14:58 PM

Thuggery? THUGGERY? Did YOU go to a Dem caucus? Maybe then you would see thuggery -- commited by the minions hired by BO.

Lipstick on both Obama's and Biden's collar? Yes and I think everyone is missing the point. I don't know if Obama's PIG comment was directed toward Palin and no one will ever know. Now, today he not only repeats the comment and but also his running mate, Biden, makes another lipstick comment. I do know that we should question why an intelligent, presidential candidate along with his potential VP would not just apologize and say it was a poor choice of words. Think. What if he uses the wrong choice of words when talking with Putin and other world leaders. What would the results be? This just shows they are not ready for prime time. They are just too glib and don't know how to say simple things like I'm sorry or I was wrong.

    • Posted By: dryans @ 09/10/2008 6:10:38 PM

Did McCain apologize when he made the same comment referring to Senator Clinton's health care plan? Additionally, look at the condition of this country. Everything is a mess and it's been run from its inception by an experienced person. I'm not an Obama supporter but I don't believe he could do worse than what we have now. Both candidates have used the same expression but only 1 of them is being persecuted.

Thank you Newsweek for the not being afraid to wirte the truth and stay on top of it. I love Charlie Gibson, but it so obvious why they selected hin to do the first interview. He is good, but he is no Tim Russert.

    • Posted By: ObamaLies @ 09/10/2008 12:11:09 PM

I suppose you'd prefer to see her on Countdown or Hardball? There is a reason why BO goes on FOX, because no matter what their political views are, they treat him with respect. The same CANNOT be said for the liberal media.

      • Posted By: msles59130 @ 09/10/2008 6:09:55 PM

He went on fox because he has said you should speak to everyone, discuss things with everyone. He practises what he preaches.

Palin can't even be asked questioned and McCain can't understand questions. There is a clear choice here. Obama. If he can hang with O'Reilly and get him to concede respect, then I have no fear of him handling himself and protecting our country even in the toughest negotiations!!
