Blah blah blah.... I live in Alaska and have been watching this for quite some time.. If you watched the interview of Wooten on CNN... He admitted to tasering his step-son.. What more proof do you want? I'm glad Palin has pushed to have this man fired. He should have to role in this state as a law inforcement officer. Thank you Sarah... by the by, Sarah was fully cooperating with investigations and welcomed it until everyone realized it was Hollis French just on a witch hunt.

Well, we can certainly appreciate the fact that this investigation holds your obvious preferred candidate in a very poor light. But that gives you nor her the right to create fiction from the facts. The facts, if you truly desire to no them and investigate beyond the CNN interview, stated the AST investigated and found the child begged his father to taser him to prove what a brave young man he was. The next day he bragged to Grandpa about it. At no time did any member of the childs family object to or report the incident to authorities. Not until the divorce proceeding began. It's obvious they attempted to smear Whotten in order to gain favor with the court and child custody hearing.

Slanted much? The story failed to include the judge's strongly expressed concern about the impact all of this could have on the guy's ability to continue his employment/provide financial support for the family. Little if any consideration was made about whether or not the allegations had merit, or if it is prudent or wise to allow this man to continue working in law enforcement. It's an understandable priority for a family court judge, but has little if anything to do with the veracity of her complaints, or the validity of her conclusions about his continued employment. Should a trooper who threatens to kill his father-in-law, drives in his patrol care with an open container of beer, intimidates and beats his wife and taser's his stepson be allowed to keep his job? Whether you agree with her actions or not, it's difficult to argue that her concerns had no basis, or that expressing them with some tenacity was in any way inappropriate.

What gets me is much of what Palin has said about Whooten was a result of her and her husband peeking in the windows of her sisters house during an argument,,we're going to have a peeping tom for the Vice Presidency of the United States of America.
    Give me a break!

Do Republicans make us fear as they would like us to? Do we dare say, science or stem cell research, Do we dare say, reproductive rights or the rights of gays and lesbians. Do we dare say, sex education for children. Do we dare say, I am not of your faith. Do we dare not say these things for fear of being cast in the role of the terrible sinner by those who try to beat us down with a moral majority pretension. No, I do not fear. I will not fear. And I am mad as hell.

. . .and I'm not going to take it anymore!! Very true on how the 'Christian faith' is built around a saviour who cared for nothing else than saving souls to the kingdom of heaven. Yet everyday I see 'yahooo' type email that show a judgemental and non tollerant attitude in the name of Jesus which hurts so many. It's sad really that Christianity has become so hate focused and blind to justice. If they are so 'proud' of her daughter having her child, why don't they also comment on good parenting keeping it from happening in the first place. Of course in their eyes, the 'nobodys' perfect line is only available for the saved to cover their a for bad judgment..

    AlaskaNomics:101 ...Palin Lies...A LOT !!!

Sarah Palin thinks she is a better American than you because she comes from a small town and a superior human being because she isn't a journalist and has never lived in Washington and likes to watch her kids play hockey. Although Palin praised John McCain in her acceptance speech as a man who puts the good of his country ahead of partisan politics, McCain pretty much proved the opposite with his selection of a running mate whose main asset is her ability to reignite the culture wars. So maybe Governor Palin does represent everything that is good and fine about America, as she herself maintains. But spare us, please, any talk about how she is a tough fiscal conservative.
    -----------------

Palin has continued to repeat the already exposed lie that she said "No, thanks" to the famous "bridge to nowhere" (McCain's favorite example of wasteful federal spending). In fact, she said "Yes, please" until the project became a symbol and political albatross.

Back to reality. Of the 50 states, Alaska ranks No. 1 in taxes per resident and No. 1 in spending per resident. Its tax burden per resident is 2 1/2 times the national average; its spending, more than double. The trick is that Alaska's government spends money on its own citizens and taxes the rest of us to pay for it. Although Palin, like McCain, talks about liberating ourselves from dependence on foreign oil, there is no evidence that being dependent on Alaskan oil would be any more pleasant to the pocketbook.

Alaska is, in essence, an adjunct member of OPEC. It has four different taxes on oil, which produce more than 89% of the state's unrestricted revenue. On average, three-quarters of the value of a barrel of oil is taken by the state government before that oil is permitted to leave the state. Alaska residents each get a yearly check for about $2,000 from oil revenues, plus an additional $1,200 pushed through by Palin last year to take advantage of rising oil prices. Any sympathy the governor of Alaska expresses for folks in the lower 48 who are suffering from high gas prices or can't afford to heat their homes is strictly crocodile tears.

As if it couldn't support itself, Alaska also ranks No. 1, year after year, in money it sucks in from Washington. In 2005 (the most recent figures), according to the Tax Foundation, Alaska ranked 18th in federal taxes paid per resident ($5,434) but first in federal spending received per resident ($13,950). Its ratio of federal spending received to federal taxes paid ranks third among the 50 states, and in the absolute amount it receives from Washington over and above the amount it sends to Washington, Alaska ranks No. 1.

Okay all you soccer/hockey/ballet moms who are flocking to the Republican ticket: Is this the kind of leadership you want? Someone who is so blindly vindictive that she can't control herself from using public office to harrass a private citizen whom she just happens to dislike?

Meanwhile, McCain is blasting Obama for using colloquialisms that McCain himself has used repeatedly in the past.

If the Republicans win this election, we're in for 4 years of more of the same AT BEST. Palin's "policy"" stands, flip-flopping, vindictiveness and--dare we say?--megalomania suggest that this pair could make Bush-Cheney look like sane & reasonable folks.

If the Republicans win this ticket... God help us all.

    • Posted By: pinkpanther87413 @ 09/10/2008 12:42:35 PM

As it has been pointed out [sic] the GOP holds the Moral High Ground in this election?????? Ya i ask how too!

Is this lying ex beauty queen really anything but a loudmouth who thinks you win points by being the most snide and nasty misfit around. There is nothing pretty about this harridan. How many more things do we have to hear about her before the people in the lower 48 recognize that the last time we saw a female like this, it was named Leona Helmsley.

    • Posted By: Livingwithcommonsenseandreason @ 09/10/2008 12:41:22 PM

SWEET !! You hit that one right on the head !!!! I can't believe ANY decent woman would look to this EVIL BITCH as a role model, leader or ANYTHING that is moral and decent . This woman is the EPITOME of hypocrisy, deceit, malice, cronyism, recklessness, narcissism, intolerance and self-righteousness this country has ever seen. She is an utter DISGRACE to all women and will set them back to the Stone Age.

  • Posted By: jsed @ 09/10/2008 12:41:00 PM

Wake up people. When it comes to a child being abuse by his stepfather, no protection should be alloted that parent. There's particularly no excuse for a so called state trooper, especially,(who's job is to protect citizens) to even go there. I personally look at a child abuser as vermin.

  • Posted By: spikeaus @ 09/10/2008 12:38:49 PM

Palin is already under investigation for ethics violations for the revenge firing of a safety commissioner who wouldn't do her bidding and fire her sister's ex-husband. Do we need more proof of her twisted code of ethics? Do we really need another Dick Cheney "pit bull" selling out to the highest bidder? I'm giving up on the Republicans this go round. They really need to clean house.

  • Posted By: katykay @ 09/10/2008 12:35:08 PM

I think the ex-husband should be able to rebut any allegations given by the Palin/Beckett families, however, it seems quite strange to me that these allegations are not allowed. ??????

    • Posted By: cattack @ 09/10/2008 12:38:18 PM

One can make allegations and one can vilify. The two are not the same.

Kudos to the trooper for taking the high road and protecting his family.

Can you say "trailer park drama?" Pregnant teenage daughter, and apparently drug-addict son. Six colleges to get an education and she still needs to be educated on foreign policy before she can debate. And somehow with all that education she still didn't know that Fannie May and Freddie Mac were privately run. Yet we're supposed to gush because she's a "hockey mom." Like JOHN McCAIN said "You can put lipstick on a pig but it's still a pig." And would somebody pleeeeze give her a new speech, the convention one is getting old.

    • Posted By: josemarti @ 09/10/2008 12:09:33 PM

You are so right. And she wants to be on Oprah. Oprah don't got time for trailer park trash. She reminds me of Paula Jones.

      • Posted By: willi583 @ 09/10/2008 12:37:15 PM

Both sides need a reality and fact check. You all sound like a bunch of foaming at the mouth lunatics! So much is being taken out of context, turned around and repeated like a bunch of kids playing telephone. Remember that game and how when more people spread the news the more distorted it becomes. Please try to open your eyes and get the facts instead of the bullshit. Sara Palin never said she wanted to be on Oprah, just an example of the political rhetoric out of control.

  • Posted By: Coila @ 09/10/2008 12:36:23 PM

What can you expect from a hypocritical immoral political party who promotes a canidate that was an adulter who publically called his current wife a "C----that looked like a painted trollop". Shows how much respect he has for women while the Republicans tout him as the great moralPOW hero. A canidate who wants to repeal Affirmitive Action. By choosing Lipstick Sarah he told the American people what he really thinks about women while WHINNING about "liberal media"

  • Posted By: Anonny Mouse @ 09/10/2008 12:35:18 PM

It seems to me that the bottom line is, Sarah Palin didn't need to drag herself down into the mud with the trooper, but she did. She chose to sling the mud, and was warned by a judge to stop. Not very tactful.

  • Posted By: Legalese @ 09/10/2008 12:24:55 PM

Well, I think most if not all politicians, appointed officials, for goodness sakes even Judges-at some point abuse their power. Look at Bush and his cronies manipulating the facts and lying to the US about why we needed to go to war-that's an abuse of power! Hey, I'm not even voting for McCain and Palin but let???s be fair she isn???t the only politician abusing her position in office nor will she be the last.

    • Posted By: Carol L. @ 09/10/2008 12:31:28 PM

But, that's exactly the point! Do we really need or want more of this kind of abuse of power, manipulation and lying in the two highest offices in the country? Electing people who are obviously behaving in these ways is irresponsible and foolish. It's asking for more of the same.

    • Posted By: sabertxdad @ 09/10/2008 12:28:41 PM

But she and McCain are running on we are changed Republican's vote for us!!

  • Posted By: snippet @ 09/10/2008 3:18:47 AM

If you tell enough lies it gets hard to keep them all straight in your head. Someone should send the Republicans some Excedrin for Migraines. I always thought that Christians detested lying and stealing and attacking the character of others.................I always thought turning the other cheek was the better part of valor......wonder what Jesus would do?, bet he wouldn't lie or steal or destroy people. Jesus was a pacifist and a man of great character. Seems he would really have no place in the Republican party. glad he is not here to witness mans failure.

    • Posted By: FutureExPatriot @ 09/10/2008 9:10:53 AM

If HE (Jesus) has no place in the Republican party then *NEVER* would HE go near the murderous (abortion and sodomite loving) Democrats. Jesus was such a pacifist that he spoke about HELL numerous times.... more than he spoke about Heaven. He was also such a pacifist that he drove the money changers (Bankers!) out the the temple.

      • Posted By: Livingwithcommonsenseandreason @ 09/10/2008 12:28:18 PM

Jesus was a weed-smoking, hippie, vagabond homosexual figment of some deluded desert-dwellers imagination. Get over it !

  • Posted By: spikeaus @ 09/10/2008 12:27:04 PM

It has been reported that Gov. Palin collected $17,000 in state per diem for staying at home. The funds are for travel meals and lodging. Do we need more Republicans with ethics issues. They'll investigate her for the next eight years. I'm giving up on this lady.
