McCain Top Economic Adviser: He Will Raise Taxes

"Whether you're a Republican Or Democrat President or a Martian, Taxes will be Raised"

Though Mccain has said Throughout his campaign "I will Not, Raise Your Taxes"

His Top Economic Adviser says thats a LIE....

Obama will Raise Taxes on those that make More than 250,000...

Those make 250,000 or under will have a Tax Break and Tax Cut. Easpecailly Senior Citizens

Douglas Holtz-Eakin, a former Director of the Congressional Budget Office and current chief McCain economic advisor, is an honest man--which means he's something of a liability on the Straight Talk Express. A few months ago, he admitted to my colleague, Michael Scherer, that Barack Obama's economic plan would reduce taxes for most people.

And now, in a forthcoming book by Fortune columnist Matt Miller, he makes it clear that the next President is going to have to raise taxes.

"If you do nothing on the spending side, you're going to have to raise taxes whether you're a Republican, a Democrat or a Martian," he tells Miller...

And then he immediately makes it clear that the "spending side" part of the argument is nothing more than a political fig-leaf.

mcpain doesn't know what the internet is, but he should thank his liver spots, because without it people would resort to rioting in the streets, GOP would release crack dealers only to lock up protesters....

look up macchiavellianism and self-fulfilling prophecy and you will have the campaign platform of mcsame/stalin...and that of their underlying neocon and evangelical beliefs, as well...

how much respect does bush show iraqis by daily destroying families who have nothing at all to do with saddam, or by splitting up country, or by ignoring millions of refugees, ignoring millions of africans in genocide, ignorning americans by bailing out banks to help china and ruin americans.....

how much can mccain help americans when he admits to knowing nothing abouty the economy, internet, email and, this morning, stated "he cannot possibly connect with ordinary american lives"...

Comment: The reason there are trials is that you ALWAYS need to hear both sides. I don't presume either the man or the woman is right. Anyone who mouths off attacking either Palin or Wooten are simply political hacks trying to score points for the election (or in favor of their gender). The truth is not in opinions; it's in the facts. Let's wait until we hear the results of the independent prosecutor's investigation. Then both sides can mouth off semi-intelligently. Until then, ... get a life!"

the trooper is not running for second highest office in the nation with finger on trigger and ailing presiden who could keel over at any moment....who is NOT READY TO TAKE COMMAND, HOLDS GRUDGES, and IS A BULLY WITH A VAG!!!

Karl Rove and Brit Hume say the same thing, Obama is leading where it means the Most..The Electoral College [248] and all he needs to do, to get to the Presidency, is to get to [270] and he's in....

Polls are Decieving and 1,000 callers are not 10,000, 100,000 or a 1,000,000 Callers....its only based on 1,000 Callers, with a margin of era.

CNN) -- Sen. John McCain has inched ahead of Sen. Barack Obama in national polls, but the Democratic candidate holds a steady lead in the most recent Electoral College estimates.

In national surveys, McCain leads by 2 points, 47 percent to 45 percent, according to CNN's poll of polls released Monday night.

In the Electoral College standings, the most recent survey shows 243 electoral votes either safely in Obama's column or leaning his way. At this point, McCain can claim only 189.

Many of the state polls used to determine the Electoral College standings, however, were conducted before the conventions.

Monday marked the first time McCain passed Obama in CNN's poll of polls. Watch how the race has tightened »

On Saturday, Obama was up by 3 in the poll of polls. That lead shrank to just 1 point Sunday before disappearing Monday.
In the most recent survey, 8 percent of respondents said they were still unsure about who they were going to vote for.

The poll of polls is an average of five surveys: CNN (September 5-7), ABC/Washington Post (September 5-7), CBS (September 5-7), Gallup (September 5-7) and Diageo/Hotline (September 5-7). The poll of polls does not have a sampling error.

The CNN/Opinion Research Corp. poll released Monday shows McCain and Obama tied at 48 percent.

The poll, which was conducted Friday through Sunday, carries a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points. It was based on 1,022 telephone interviews.

Republicans are hoping that if McCain can close the popular vote gap, he can also make gains in the electoral gap. The Electoral College will ultimately decide who takes over the White House.
Although polls across the country are open on one day, the election is not a national poll but a series of 51 state-level elections that decide the members of the Electoral College.

Technically, voters aren't choosing a candidate but a slate of electors who have pledged to vote for that candidate when the Electoral College meets.

With 538 electors up for grabs, the candidate with more than half -- 270 -- wins the presidency. The number of electors from each state equals the number of senators and representatives the state sends to Congress

When my son was 3 years old, his father threatened to hit him with a belt. I jumped between them and called the sherif's office to get the man out of the house. When they arrived, one of them looked at me and said "you should have let him hit him." I was, of course, appalled. Then I went to court and asked for supervised visitation based on this and other incidents. The judge refused. It was then I realized what the sherif meant. Maybe if I had let it happen, the judge would have have agreed to spare my kids two more years of emotional and probable physical abuse. It took that long, two psychiatrists and many, many more incidents for the judge to see my concerns as not coming from a vindictive ex and taking action.

If it's that hard to get a judge to act in the supposedly enlightened and liberal San Francisco Bay Area, I can only imagine what had to go on for the judge to issue such an order in an overwhelmingly conservative state like Alaska.

While I usually find these side issues ridiculous and cynical attempts at distracting from the real issues of this election, this one does much to confirm her, and her family's, propensity for abuse of power and vindictive, vicious behavior, and McCain's complete lack of judgement in choosing her. The world has grown too nuanced and dangerous for that kind of leadership.

There is likely no merit in the ethics complaint against Governor Sarah Palin and Sarah Palin should not have to wait until her sister disappeared before she intervened. Even if there was any merit to the complaint one could argue convincingly that it would have been prudent for her to intervene in this case given the recent publicity regarding the disappearance and death respectively of the last two wives of former and now retired police Sergeant Drew Peterson in Bollingbrook Illinois a Chicago suburb, the apartment shooting deaths during a homecoming party last October of six young adults including the former girlfriend of a 20-year-old Crandon Wisconsin deputy and Crandon police officer Tyler Peterson who took his own life before his apprehension, the death of the nine-month pregnant girlfriend of convicted former Ohio police officer Bobby Cutts whose two year old son broke the case with the statement that mommy is in the rug, and the pending murder trial of Pennsylvania State Trooper and homicide investigator Kevin Foley for the stabbing murder of the soon to be dentist ex-husband of his live-in girlfriend that occurred two days before the effective date of the final divorce decree. Sarah Palin should not have to have waited until her sister disappeared before she intervened in the trooper case. In the Foley case, Pennsylvania Trooper Kevin Foley lived with the estranged wife of a dentist who was viciously stabbed to death and thrown through the window of his own home two years ago. Pennsylvania State Trooper Foley specialized in homicide investigations and allegedly had been quoted as repeatedly stating in a State Police barracks break room in front of other State Troopers and supervisors as wishing that the dentist ex-husband would be killed in a car wreck or would otherwise die. Reportedly, his fellow state troopers did not take his threats seriously although they told him to stop making the threats against the now deceased dentist. Remember also in the Drew Peterson case, there were 18 eighteen separate domestic disturbance calls to the Drew Peterson residence outside Chicago.

    • Posted By: mccainsupporter @ 09/12/2008 10:51:20 AM

In the eighteen separate domestic disturbance calls to his home, Drew Peterson was never arrested or charged by his fellow officers with whom he worked. The only person ever charged by his fellow officers in all of Petersons domestic violence cases was his now deceased ex-wife. Any investigation into the conduct of her ex-brother-in-law trooper by his own department, the Alaska State Police and Pubic Safety Commissioner, should have been viewed with the same skepticism as the eighteen separate investigations into the conduct of Drew Peterson by his fellow officers. It clearly can be argued that the prudent course of action was for Governor Sarah Palin to intervene given the almost near universal blue wall of silence that often prevents investigation of police misconduct by their fellow officers, superiors, and even other outside law enforcement agencies. Ten domestic violence related deaths in four different states involving four different sworn law enforcement officers is more than enough reason for Governor Sarah Palin to not have had to wait until her sister disappeared before she intervened. Alaska in the winter is a big state in which it is easy for someone to disappear. In light of the recent murders of spouses and girlfriends by police officers in four other states, any alleged intervention by Governor Sarah Palin involving her ex-brother-in-law was not unethical or unreasonable, rather it was probably the more prudent course of conduct. Sarah Palin should not have had to wait until her sister disappeared before she intervened.

    • Posted By: LilianCortis @ 09/11/2008 5:00:26 PM

I find your conclusion utterly irrational.

Palin and her family complained to the proper authorities about threats and abuse coming from a state employee.

No action was taken on these reports.

There was an utter disrespect to her person and her office, to her authority to issue policy directives.

And you blame her for exercising her prerogative and firing the person concerned?

what Trooper gate? Bubble of a story. AS a meter of fact, I will think that she did not have the "guts" to do anything if she continued to keep quiet even when she had the means to show him the stick. How nice, This guy tasered a boy and continued in service.. If I was in Oalin's position, I will do the same. She was asking why this guy is still in service after his behavior. Supported by his union?

I agree, can we talk about what they are going to do for us? My car needs to be converted. I am sick of buying foriegn Oil and destroying our planet. Lets focus on something current and relevant, like why it cost 10X as much to convert our cars in America than anywhere else in the world. Why are not more focused on solving America's real problems. My son is in Iraq, I don't want him there but Osama bin Laden is just feet away from having the whole thing, Aphaganistan (the old Assyria), Iraq (the old Babylonian) and Iraq (the old Persian) empires. All united under Bin Laden and Al Quieda. Theres a pleasant thought don't you think? My son is protecting his and your families freedom but you don't even seem to see how close we are to an out of control, insane religious leader, taking over the Middle East and our economy. Lets get any party that will talk to commit to really doing something about America's real problems and quit burying our heads in 3 year old news!

Sorry, but this line of thinking is irrational to me. Osama bin Ladin is not a world threat. He's just a boogy man. He's very useful as a scare tactic to keep Republicans in office. No wonder he's never been caught. He's practically on the RNC campaign committee.

If this is the case I apologize unless what I wrote was true. I perfer to comment to posters rather than post a general statement, I believe that way too many posters are just in it for the laughs and clutter up what could be a real discussion with rude comments, or more often repeats of rude comments, In this blog there a lot of Mysnogenic comments that are highly intolerable and if I become the social voice to say that talk like that is wrong, I don't have a problem with that. It is a place I am comfortable. Talking to individuals and standing up for what I believe is right without harrassment or anger. Not posting a comment usually means They said what they said and thats okay to do that. I comment on the ones I like, and comment on the ones that I think I can contribute. I do not want to offend, slander, or demean anybody. Still my goal is not moral judgement but rather civil discourse.

This article states that a Domestic Violence Protective Order was issued and was rescinded months later.

The Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban is federal criminal law which the Alaska State Public Safety Commissioner had no discretion in not enforcing. If the State Trooper had a protective order issued against him, the State Public Safety Commissioner should have terminated the State Trooper without being asked by anybody. It is a felony to violate the federal Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban. News reports state that the estranged spouse filed for divorce and a domestic violence protective order on April 11 2005 against the State Trooper. Protective orders are customarily issued. If a protective order was issued, the federal criminal statute Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban should resolve all of the current controversy surrounding any inappropriate contacts between the Governors office and the State Public Safety Commissioner. If a protective order was issued, the State Public Safety Commissioner is clearly way out on a limb on the wrong side of the law in this matter. It would take one call to the court to find out if a protective order was issued and that would have been enough for the Public Safety Director to act.

So he tasered a kid, went drinking and driving on duty, and threatened to kill her dad.
She *gasp* badmouthed him... Oh noes.
Good job Newsweek in finding a slant where the drunk abusive power-abusing child abusing cop is a good guy, and the woman who doesn't like people who threaten to kill her father is the bad one. That must have been tricky, but I guess when you no longer worry about things like journalistic integrity, ethics, or facts you can focus on the important stuff.

Like trying to get Obama elected, and wondering why circulation numbers are down... again.

Pray that your sister or daughter never gets raped by someone.
And God forbid that that someone is a part of your family.
Still, if it did happen.....pray even harder that she does not get pregnant.
Because if she does, she'd have no choice but to keep the baby.

    That sound fair to you?
    That sound logical to you?
    That sound American to you?

It should. It is the position of the McCain/Palin ticket.

You are absolutely right. Palin's position on abortion would allow rapists everywhere to unilaterally select the mother of their children. How's that for sexism.

I doubt a rapist's motive is ever to father a child with the victim.

Any man would go so far as to rape a chosen woman in order to force her have a child with him, could be described as seriously obsessed... or otherwise put "in love"

        ?
