loriw: Your holier than thou claim of Obama's present votes as an Illinois legislator only proves how utterly uninformed and ignorant you are of how the state runs their congress. Voting 'present' in Illinois is common procedural move used to indicate support for portions of a bill, but reservations on it in its entirety. Perhaps it's difficult for you understand such nuance, but I should point out that Obama was working three jobs during his post Harvard days in Chicago; not only as a state legislator but also as a community organizer to improve the lives of the less fortunate. What has Palin to say about the fact that she fits perfectly in the mold of republicans and their utterly egregious abuses of power?Constitutional Law professor at the University of Chicago and as a Community Organizer to assist with less

Palin is a pompous bully. Can you imagine the number of people she will go after if she has the office of the Vice Presiidency behind her?? That's all we need - another VP with a shotgun. Wonder how many people she'll "accidently" shoot while hunting???

Your article leaves out a crucial detail. Wooten only used a stun gun on his son after his son begged to be shocked by it out of curiousity of what it feels like. He also put the tazer on the least harmful 'test' setting. So of the three charges; tazering his son, driving his cop car with a beer, and shooting a moose, only the second warrants any disciplinary action, which was taken when he was suspended from duty while the investigation was pending. But considering the trumped up nature of the two allegations, it makes the third one of dubious authenticity. The can of beer alleged was probably unopened, which was in a six pack he had just bought while doing grocies. That would be more in line with the gravity of the other ttwo accusations.

Moral capability for abusing the power of her office ?

CARELESS TOO ! For not using birth control when she is past 40 knowing there are serious risks involved !!! AM NOT EVER GOING TO VOTE FOR THIS WOMAN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree. This divorce proceeding is a matter of public record, and the judge clearly was alarmed at Sarah Palin's behavior against her brother-in-law. With the expanded power of the Executive Branch under Bush-Cheney, we don't need leaders who are impulsive (McCain), careless (McCain and Palin), dishonest (McCain and Palin), and vindictive (Palin). I mean, come on, there are dozens of more solid people with better character and ability than Sarah Palin who could have been picked. Could McCain change his mind now?

  • Posted By: JuliNoon @ 09/10/2008 1:27:55 AM

Good point, bunchofchemies. If you look at her record, she's a sellout and a bully opportunist, and judging from the RNC, has no problem lying directly to your face.

This is great. As a law enforcement officer we often have complaints filed against us as a means of relatiation. The fact of the matter is that she obviously was upset and thought this would be the best way to get back at him. Destroy his job, destroy the chance of his gaining custody of the children. COPS for OBAMA!!!

You seem to have a fan who doesn't like the police. Wonder why? Maybe the nest time that person has an emergency he/she should call Sarah Palin.

I did my final comment already but it is getting interesting so I can't leave. Anyone know of a Politics Anonamous group?

Obama just won a fan - ALEC BALDWIN !!!!!!!!!!! Wise judge. Imagine ruining a person´s reputation and he´s a trooper to boot.

I am glad I am not a woman and even though my life as a man has been a rollercoaster ride, the reaction to Sarah Pahlin's selection as a potentail VP has shocked the irreverency of this man beyond belief!! Right, left, middle, top bottom, people of this country are losing their minds. Mom, i love you forever and keep wearing your lipstick!!

    • Posted By: Pupster @ 09/10/2008 1:02:56 AM

It's not about her being a woman, it's that she was woefully not qualified. Had McCain picked a veteran like Kay Bailey Hutchison or Christine Todd Whitman, the reaction would have been much different.

      • Posted By: rici505 @ 09/10/2008 1:15:55 AM

I applaud your objectivity even though it comes with recommendations that scream for debate. You talk about blind faith, well blind faith has reached maniacal proportions these days. We all have a vote and that is our own silent editorial. Lets get rid of the hate and build our country once again.

This women allows her partyto portray her as a Christian?

Takes per Diem money for staying at home, because she can. See nothing wrong with it because it is not illegal?

Lies over and over about the bridge to nowhere.....I guess her God forgives daily lying and misrepresenting the truth. My church calls deceit...deceit.

Lies or misleads the American people about firing a chef for political points while the chef still works for the family.

Lies about the sale of an airplane on eBay to make herself sound inventive.

She sounds EXACTLY like George Bush...If the truth does not serve her purpose she lies!

Based on what is already known about Saraha Palin and her history.......Looks like poor Wooten got wrapped-up in her lies!

John Maccain is an idiot for putting politics and getting ahead above what is best for this country! HONEST!

Can we have some HONESTY foe awhile...NO MORE LYING REPUBLICIANS!

A final comment for the night. Early on McCain said Obama wasn't speaking to the issues. He wasn't either as it was early and they were both still developing their positions. Fast forward to now......Obama has specifics, McCain has more slams on Obama and since I watched both acceptance speechas I know that McCain has commited to nothing other than being a POW. As has been said many times, I and the rest of the country respect him for that. However, I have 4 teenagers and I will put it simply.....Although they don't say it the real deal is "what have you done for me lately" As an adult I respect your actions in the past but what do you intend to do for me tomorrow. Trash talk doesn't cut it John, how about some ideas instead of generalization.

i do not think there is anything that will make the hard core right reconsider on Palin. She is their choice, she is a right wing Christian, and after all, what else is there? She is a mother, she had a disabled child. Who cares if she lies every day? Who cares if she violated any court order? Get with it....no matter what comes out, it is the fault of the media, or Obama, or the left. Now if any of these allegations were about Obama...whew, that would be different. still think we should stick to the issues, but the blatant lying really is getting to me...blatant lying by both sides. Issues...Alaska #1 state in earmarks...#1...yet they attack Obama. Issues, supporting the bridge, but pretending she never did(another lie). Issue, taking the money for the bridge but acting like she didn't take the money....they took the earmarks, just used if for other stuff. The reason this is fair game is because they are making it their issue. They are phonies,. If they lie about their record, maybe they are lying about their plans.

Well, considering that most of the surrogates on TV have never met her or even spoken to her, and yet they vouch for her at every opportunity tells you that they are going on blind faith. I think most of what they say they are making up. She's so new on the scene they don't even know anything about her beyond McCain talking points.

  • Posted By: bupalos @ 09/10/2008 1:01:21 AM

Palin was a neat story for a week, until it turned out every word out of her mouth was a lie. Sorry, liars bore me.

  • Posted By: bupalos @ 09/10/2008 1:00:01 AM

Palin is a liar. You hear all the neat details...she's a beauty queen, bear hunter, book burner, snake handler, etc. It kind of distracts from the point that the only things out of her mouth so far have been lies. She's just a liar. It's actually kind of boring.

  • Posted By: GPROFO @ 09/10/2008 12:48:34 AM

The personality of SP is that of an attack dog. Pit bull indeed. But is that what we want in a chief executive -- an abuser-in-chief?

    • Posted By: repubshadenoughyet? @ 09/10/2008 12:55:45 AM

We have that today but if you have good attorneys to spin the abuse of the constitution "it is all good" unless you want better for the country.

  • Posted By: repubshadenoughyet? @ 09/10/2008 12:51:36 AM

Lawyers running interference for the VP canidate? Shouldn't that concern us?

  • Posted By: heyjoe @ 09/10/2008 12:45:09 AM

The article clearly states that they sought comment from her attorneys, they declined. Perfect chance to give her side. The problem is they know she will have to lie again, so they shield her from having to answer even the most softball media questions. It is an open and shut case of abuse of power. She fits right into the Republican party. Anyone who tries to call this a partisan witch-hunt by a "liberal" media is a liar just like Sarah Palin. It is the Republican disease. Unfortunately it seems to be incurable.

  • Posted By: BunchofChemies @ 09/10/2008 12:43:22 AM

In my experience in child mental health, it is RARE that a judge goes to the extent to issue such a strong warning against a parent and family. Clearly, the kind of behavior was well over the top of what is typical in divorce/child custody disputes. Another piece of evidence that McCain acted impulsively without properly vetting his pick. Note that Obama may well have picked Hillary Clinton as VP, but her husband's business dealings since he left office would not have passed vetting for the sniff test of political acceptability. But, they are as nothing in comparison to the deeply flawed Sarah Palin pick.
