Seems like the Palin family is doing a fine job of bringing the Palin family down all by themselves. The Palins evidently think they're some kind of mafia family.

Usually it takes a little longer for the leopard to show its stripes. Abuse of power sounds strangely familiar. Oh yeh more of the same. Polls have been showing the repubs ahead??????? I hope the right isn't so wrapped up in the moral issues that they can not see the right wing politicians as everything they stand against. The repubs want to take my rights and the rights of my daughters. How is this American. No rights unless the GOP says so and they have lawyers to wrap their abuses of power in the flag. I am proud of America but embarassed by the Bush administration and their version of a replacement.

Wow!! this lady is something else... a new scandal everyday.I think they didn't vet her very well.

You are truly naive... both parties and their supporters spin out these so-called scandals as part of their strategies and successfully so because they know there are easily impressionable people out there just like you who will blindly and unquestionably eat it up.

"Couldn't agree more. Just looking at McCain and Palin, you can see the evil. It's the same as Bush. You just have to look at him to know he's a psycho. No wonder the End Times Journal said McCain was the antichrist."

Ladies and gentlemen, this is the level of intelligence of people who plan to vote for Obama. That should tell you all you need to know about the mindset of moronic, childish, reactionary liberals.

    McCain 08.

This article is so weak. Talk about grasping at straws and making mountains out of molehills. "Story" reads and sounds like a high school newspaper column..

It appears that Sarah pressured her sister, Molly, to lie to the judge about Mike Wooten, the state trooper and Sarah's brother-in-law, accusing him of physical abuse in order to get Molly full custody of her kids. Mike Wooten NEVER physically abused Sarah's sister or the kids by Molly's own admission.

This is HUGE. IMO, as big or bigger than troopergate. Sarah had her sister lie to the judge, it appears that Sarah lied as well to the judge and both she and her sister have slandered Mike Wooten. Did Sarah testify under oath when she accompanied Molly to get the restraining order? Did she testify that Wooten was physically abusive? If she did, Sarah is guilty of perjury. And we all know being guilty of perjury is grounds for impeachment!

And if Sarah did not testify, if she pressured Molly into perjury, Sarah is guilty of suborning perjury.

Newsweek needs to look into this. http://www.andrewhalcro.com/vetting_wooten_and_troopergate

Mike Wooten is not the issue--even if he is a not so great person. The issue is abuse of power--i.e. Palin being investigated (by a bi-partisan group) for possibly abusing her position as governor to get Wooten fired. This story of the judge giving repeated warnings to Sarah Palin and family, et. al., contributes to a more complicated picture of Palin that is emerging. Since the campaign--at Republican instigation--has turned from issues to personality, who is Palin turning out to be?
She's very socially conservative. She's the party's attack dog and came out of the chute criticizing Obama in regards to his accomplishments... yet (and this is where the picture starts to get cloudy) one of the few specific accomplishments she repeatedly claims concerns the bridge to nowhere which has pretty much been identified as a misstatement of fact by every news reporting agency, including those in Alaska. (Even if the media is "liberal", they've got the video of speeches and photos to prove it.) There's the documented fact of her history of receiving earmarks--many times more than any other state. Yet, she repeatedly references earmarks as a major criticism of Obama. She states she's fiscally conservative, yet there are serious questions about her time as mayor of Wasilla where she left the town of 7,000 $22 million in debt. Everybody knows all these facts, and there's not much left to be said on any of them that hasn't been said before. What really strikes me is her similarity to someone else we all know: she's a governor from an oil rich state who can look the American public in the eye and repeatedly say things that have been proven to be less than true if not blatantly hypocritical, campaigns to the religious right, is--by her own public admission--unfamiliar with and uneducated about foreign policy, has a management style (per articles in the Anchorage Daily News) where she only wants dept heads to tell her "good news" and is not known for embracing ideas that come from other people, is currently being "protected from the press" while being intensely briefed on and molded by Bush foreign policy experts and, as yet, is not being allowed to go off script until she's learned what to say. And she has this dark cloud hanging over her head--for what? Possible abuse of power. Of course there are other factors which Palin supporters would undoubtedly add to the picture, but, for the purposes of this discussion, who does that picture sound like that? Does anyone else find this strikingly similar to George W. Bush?

Given that, it really strikes me as ironic that she's running on a ticket with the monniker, "change is coming! change is coming!". How can that feasibly be true when her own profile is so similar to Bush, she's reading speeches written by Bush's aides, being briefed by Bush's foreign policy experts and using campaign techniques that are reminiscent of the Bush tactics?

Is this all the Democrats have! So what!!!!

    • Posted By: OBWan @ 09/09/2008 10:53:57 PM

It is called abuse of power.

      • Posted By: Esencia08 @ 09/09/2008 11:32:23 PM

No its not called abuse of power its called defending your sister! I saw the news interview with that trooper, he has some serious problems with women and he should have been fired from his job for numerous policy violations. All the man got was a slap on his wrist and Palin is being accused of abuse of power for firing the head of the public safety division, which really is her preogative as a govenor. I Also believe that the investigation is a backlash against democrats in the congress.

In any case, too many police departments across the country are infested with corrupt cops who are protected by their superiors thereby eroding the public trust and the principle of justice. That trooper tasered his step-son! And the judge is worried about "disparing comments" Palin and her sister made toward him? PLEASE!

This is just another reason why government needs to be constrained , who the hell needs a judge that is more worried about protecting the perpetrator than the victims to moralize what is right and wrong? Obama himself said that government is supposed to help people not harm them. I agree! And this is exactly why government needs to have as limited role possible among the citizenry.

        • Posted By: paul962 @ 09/09/2008 11:51:17 PM

The judge is correct you friggen' kracker. It is child abuse...

  • Posted By: paul962 @ 09/09/2008 11:49:38 PM

McCain's running mate is a serial child abuser. She disparages her former brother-in-law and failed to properly secure her child in a car seat in a moving vehicle. That is a little straight talk for ya!

How unfortunate all this dirty laundry has to aired in public. Sarah Palin so likes taking pictures with rifles slung across her somewhere, maybe that is an intimidation tactic?? Or maybe she thinks people will like the 'tough woman(sorry, thought I was a man) image' ?

Pistol packing mama, maybe she is aiming to be another Dick Cheney??

The facts as presented by Officer Wooten himself reveal that he is someone who shot a taser at his own child, shoot a moose illegally and had multiple divorces (currently four or more). Officer Wooten was heard by several people threatening the life of Gov Palin's father, so he doesn't seem worthy of being in law enforcement. From the comments, I'm sure he is more a hero to Obama supporters than John McCain.

    • Posted By: OBWan @ 09/09/2008 11:10:22 PM

I saw an interview - bad choice, admitted by him on the taser. Denies the threat - who knows.
Divorces - Hmm. Where does that leave you with John McCain CHEATING and leaving his 1st wife to be wife Cindi?

I have only hve two heroes in my life - my foster parents.

Abuse of power is a terrible thing - no matter what the reason.

He was already disciplined and his file closed before Palin got in the governor's mansion and started a vendetta against him. But feel free to defend her, even if you don't have a leg to stand on. You really don't know anything about her, do you?

The B!tch is in TROUBLE, for ABUSE of POWER !!!

    Trailer, Trailer, Mounatinous Region Behavior

The state police recorded Bailey's conversation, and Palin later released it after Monegan's sacking.

Palin and Bailey both said that Palin did not instigate Bailey's complaints about Wooten to the police. Bailey, who is now on paid leave from his state job, has said that in trashing Wooten to State Police management, he had "overstepped my boundaries ??? I should not have spoken for the governor, or Todd, for that matter."

When asked about Sara Palin???s speech at the republican convention a lady from Ohio said ???she came across as a vicious person to me???. The first thing I felt while reading this article is exactly that. Toughness is one thing but assassinating the character of your former brother-in-law is quite another. Came to think of it she is doing the same thing as a hatchet women for McCain in this campaign. I am hopeful the American people will see through this phony maverick for what she really is a conniving political opportunist who is willing to damage the chance of her own running mate to advance her ambition. If she was an honest person who wanted McCain to win she would have told him about her daughters pregnancy long time ago instead of a day before he offered her the job. Let face it by the time McCain knew of this news it was too late in the game to pick somebody else and she knew it.
What is scary about her is not just her viciousness but her lack of knowledge and experience in regards to national and international issues facing our country. Anyone who thinks it is God???s plan to get over four thousand Americans killed in Iraq is insane; anyone who thinks climate change is not manmade after seeing the overwhelming scientific evidence is also insane. Let us hope we are not electing another person who thinks he/she can see in others soul. I know McCain doesn???t share some of her extreme views but he is 72 and chances are he may not finish his term and the thought of her a heart bit away from the presidency sends chills down my spine.

Palin is an obviously a two faced bitch and a liar. How can she claim that Obama requested 1 billion in earmarks for Illonois when she alone holds the highest earmark records for Alaska over any other state? Obama asked for $0. Palin's acusations have no merit. No validty, no nothing. Just blantent and pure lies. How could we ever trust her to be VP or worse, President should something happen to McCain. I would gladly take Cheny for President over this beauty queen.

Change...McCain/Palin will create change alright. It's like 24 hours/day of Fox News propaganda and right wing nut jobs like Phelps prosetylizing about the problems of America being non-Christians! As a Christian who believes in working together in the TRUE Christian spirit of love and chairty, I pray in hope that the day will come soon that everyone will realize how extreme Ms. Palin truly is whether it be in teaching intelligent design in school, forcing our gay brothers and sisters to pray away their God-given sexuality, and putting social security checks at risk by privatizing it! Soon, very soon, people will come to know better and see through the propaganda...I have faith :)
