Has anyone asked Palin if she has a passport? Has she been out of the US? Oh, that's right, no one is allowed to interview her.

I don't want a vice president who can't even take an interview. This smells like Karl Rove is back in the driver's seat. When campaigning for second term, we allowed George Bush, again, while serving as president, to hold invitation only campain rallys and events. I believe each attendee had to sign an allegence to the republican party. I can't believe we allowed this.

This Sarah Palin candidacy seems like the same Karl Rove stategy. What happen to the "straight talk" from McCain? Why can't she sat down with a group of reports or Americans and let us ask her questions.

  • Posted By: 1easylay @ 09/11/2008 11:42:10 AM

C'mon, people. She's a tool and he's an old fool.
A perfect Republican prequisite, but I pray that people aren't really stupid enough to think the 40+ yr politician, funded almost soley by special interests, is going to bring about positive change?

That's like putting sour millk back in the fridge and hoping it comes out better tomorrow.

    Insanity.

The Dems can;t do anything cause the repugs in office stall, block or derail every effort the Dems make to do anything of use. Like..............Min. Wage increase. Mcsame fought that tooth and nail ,but he's an everyman. He can't even remember how many homes he has...............how is he gonna remember what color button does what....ya know what I mean?

When your dad leaves his glasses in the fridge, it's cute........almost sad.
When the leader of the free world is wearing depends and travels with a personal defribulator and a backwoods, gun toting, beer drinking schlep of a mayor from town of 7,000 and then Mayor of an OIL driven state with the pop. of Wash. D.C.....................Yeah, it scares the sh_t out of me.'

Worse comes to worse, I'll take Old Joe after a major head injury, God forbid, anyday.

I mean really people.................Look how wrong you were about the messiah, I mean Bush.'
You owe the country at least 10 mins of rational thinking come election day.

  • Posted By: logical2 @ 09/11/2008 10:06:10 AM

Benluclar -did you ever take a government class in school? any good things the Dems tried to accomplish would be vetoed by bush, and with still too many republicans in congress a overrride is almost impossible. Further, total republican control would more likely increase the number of children moved into foster care. at the same time you should expect a cut in foster home funding, as defense spending would again take priority.

Here's some more information for anyone who's considering voting for McCain/Palin:
    1. Palin's anti-abortion position is so extreme that she opposes abortion even in cases of rape and incest and would FORCE this view on the rest of America. She also opposes sex education in schools because she believes the material would be too ???offensive??? to kids.
    2. Palin and her husband flirted with Alaska's secession from the United States as "affiliates" of the Alaskan Independence Party party.
    3. Palin attempted to ban library books she didn't like and tried to fire the Wasilla city librarian because she wouldn't agree to the censorship.
    4. Palin fired police chief of Wasilla because he wanted the bars to close at 2am rather than 5am, but this would upset Palin's bar owner campaign contributors.
    5. Palin fired her chief public safety officer, the former police chief of Anchorage, because he didn't want to be used in her family feud in firing the ex-husband of her sister.
    6. Palin's car wash was "involuntarily" shut down after she skipped out of paying her taxes and fees, and failed to file the required financial statements.
    7. Palin's pastor of 30 years thinks political opponents of Bush won't go to heaven and that Jesus is some kind of war general that kills people that don't believe in him.
    8. Palin stripped funds from Passage House, a group that helps teen moms, LIKE HER DAUGHTER, get skills and lead productive lives after pregnancy.
    9. Palin hired an Abramoff lobbyist to get earmarks that even McCain objected to.
    10. Palin SUPPORTED the Bridge-to-Nowhere, and only opposed it after public exposure and ridicule from Congress. Yet she continues to lie about her role in this in public appearances with John McCain.
    11. Palin inflated her foreign policy experience by claiming a refueling stop as a "visit to Ireland."
    12. And even more disturbing, Sarah Palin reinstated the barbaric aerial hunting program in Alaska, which allows the harrassment and shooting of wolves and bears from airplanes. She also brought back the antiquated wolf bounty program, which pays hunters $150 for every SEVERED wolf forearm that they produce. Do these sound the policies of a compassionate person and governor? Apparently her pro-life stance only applies to humans.

Do not allow opinion to be rendered under the guise of ''information''. You will need concrete evidentiary sources that do not come from HUFFINGTON or DAILY KOS to back your play[of which several that I can see already, are patent lies anyway. Sarah Palin was never an ''affiliate''of the AIP. Palin never tried to ''ban books''. There is no evidence of using ''a refueling stop to Ireland''as a means to establish a foreign policy position. There is no evidence that Palin sought to have the director of Public Safety [Monegan] fired due to her sisters divorce[that is what they are attempting to find out now. Yet you presented your opinion as a fait accompli].

Sources man. Sources. All else is intrigue.

Palin's policy on taxes while mayor of her town was innovative. She would submit budget proposals to a public referendum so people could decide if they wanted a half percentage point increase on sales tax in return for a state-of-the-art sports hall in town.

Palin is a fraud. No one cares about her "hockey mom" status. She should start talking about what she would do if she's in office, rather than screaming about everyone else. No one knows anything about her, aside from her selling point...oh, I mean special needs child. She's an embarrassment to society.

I'm curious why a family court judge is getting involved in one sides family members "disparaging" the other in a way that doesn't seem to involve the kids at all? Especially to the point of giving custody to someone who tasered one of the kids.

However, if someone tasered my nephew, I'd be trying to get them fired as well.

  • Posted By: benluclar @ 09/11/2008 10:43:22 AM

    Papadude...
Yes, your comments are valid about the Republicans. They are also valid about McCain's age, which is a concern, but I am going to have to go with my gut in voting for him, because, although Palin may be 'green', she is, still, only playing second chair.
Obama, the 'green' candidate also, is in first chair. The true leader in that duo is Biden. But he is in second chair nonetheless.
Do I vote for the green candidate with the ability in second chair, waiting hopefully for his turn?
Do I vote for the capable candidate who is slightly older than I am, with the green backup sitting there... and LEARNING in the meantime of what may or may not occur with her mentor?
I must logically say, the latter is a better choice to me.

What a garbage article. It concludes without stating the facts, that a corrupt police agency has circled the wagons agound a person who admitted child abuse, has numerous reports of threatening and abusing cittizens, threatening what was then a local Mayors family members with harm, reprimanded for dereliction of duties and crimanal misdemeanors and possibly felonies while on State Police business, and who at least once had to have a restraining order placed against him. The entire upper echelon of the Alaska State Police would seem to need to resign and the legislature put through a character and ethics policy for persons armed by the state while charged with protecting all citizens. Clearly this trooper was not properly disciplined and that demonstrates a need for the Gov. to address the issue to the appointed head of that organization and demand a response, policy changes, and legislative proposals to ensure that corrupt officials, even low level troopers, are held to high standards of personal conduct on and off the job.

    Barack Obama 110th Congress

In the 1st month of the newly Democratic-controlled 110th Congress, Obama worked with Russ Feingold (D???WI) to eliminate gifts of travel on corporate jets by lobbyists to members of Congress and require disclosure of bundled campaign contributions under the "Honest Leadership and Open Government Act," which was signed into law in September 2007. He joined Chuck Schumer (D-NY) in sponsoring S. 453, a bill to criminalize deceptive practices in federal elections, including fraudulent flyers and automated phone calls, as witnessed in the 2006 midterm elections. Obama's energy initiatives scored pluses and minuses with environmentalists, who welcomed his sponsorship with John McCain (R-AZ) of a climate change bill to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by two-thirds by 2050, but were skeptical of his support for a bill promoting liquefied coal production. Obama also introduced the "Iraq War De-Escalation Act of 2007," a bill to cap troop levels in Iraq, begin phased redeployment, and remove all combat brigades from Iraq before April 2008.

Later in 2007, Obama sponsored with Kit Bond (R-MO) an amendment to the 2008 Defense Authorization Act adding safeguards for personality disorder military discharges, and calling for a review by the Government Accountability Office following reports that the procedure had been used inappropriately to reduce government costs. He sponsored the "Iran Sanctions Enabling Act" supporting divestment of state pension funds from Iran's oil and gas industry, and joined Chuck Hagel (R-NE) in introducing legislation to reduce risks of nuclear terrorism. A provision from the Obama-Hagel bill was passed by Congress in December 2007 as an amendment to the State-Foreign Operations appropriations bill. Obama also sponsored a Senate amendment to the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) to provide one year of job protection for family members caring for soldiers with combat-related injuries. After passing both houses of Congress with bipartisan majorities, SCHIP was vetoed by President Bush in early October 2007, a move Obama said "shows a callousness of priorities that is offensive to the ideals we hold as Americans

I don't listen to all the half-truths reported in the media - but I do listen to what the candidates say. Palin said she was no different than a pit bull (other than the lipstick)....I personally don't want a pit bull in the white house. I want someone who will bring people together not rip them apart. I also wish everyone would stop talking about the other party in such disparaging terms. This is America - we are free to believe as we choose. We can disagree on particular issues but still come together to reach a compromise that provides for the common good. What we need is a president who has this vision and the legislators who can make it happen.

I aagree that the blogs on this article have been way off track. If I might let me tell you a bull dog is a good thing. I am currently suffering through Liver Cancer. When I went to emergency room services 9 years ago I didn't know what was going on. My doctor was like a little bull dog who sank in is teeth a didn't let go till he found what was wrong. I wish there more around like him. But the expression just as in my life can mean really good things come with those who are persistant in doing the right job. My doctor seemed like a pest at first. His diagnosis took six very hard months and the disease I had had only been recently discovered. Because he has watched over me and cared for me I have had a good 9 years with my family and when the cancer started two months ago he has been right there and fighting to get me transplanted. I know my youngest girl 8 years old would like it be now, but I also know it might be too late. Sorry I drifted. A bull dog is desirable if you have a real problem, that why they considered Winston Churchill a bull dog in his time.

There is a difference between competent, responsible persistence and stubborn, obstonate vindictiveness. Pit Bulls aren't known for being very thoughtful .... they are just out for blood.

benlular- did you ever take government classes? any good things the democrats may have done has been stymied by bushes vetoes and still too many republicans in congress to get a veto overridden. Further there is no one running for office looking to reduce the number of children we have. Howerver there is a party that would like to force you to have children regardless of if a person can handle the child or not. this will bode well for you - you will have more fooster children than you could ever imagine! However in order to fund the continued war they will need to cut foster home funding- (research Palin.)

I am not a service program barnacle who lives off the system, as you so suggest.
At no time in my life before retirement did I not work less than two jobs, and usually more.
