Did you see McCain after he and Palin parted? He really looked weak. It's obvious he does not have a plan and he's pulling all of his tricks out of his bag to win this election......please see him for what he is....a liar, a thief and he's not about change....All of these latest ads he's put out here do nothing but distort the truth about Obama....It goes to show you where his mind is - in the gutter and that's where he'll have all of us if you vote for him.....He's good at distorting the truth and using scare tactics to detour voters from the truth.....And I don't care how republicans try to hpe Palin up, I still say something is not right about her....See the republicans plan is to keep her quiet and not answer questions...That will only go so far....eventually she will have to talk....she goes on and on about Alsaka but what answers does she give you when it comes down to things that are affecting America today? Everything that she says now is scripted and memorized....she's saying stuff that has been planted in her head by republicans....

McCain is doing nothing but using her to win.....because she ain't saying nothing...no substance....and people really need to see through that....McCain is not saying much himself because he has nothing to say....All he is saying is Iraq....Iraq alone is not the only problem America faces....we have serious issues and really need to pay attention to what is going on....Palin is not running for President....and when the dust settles people are going to see the McCain/Palin ticket for what it really is....full of lies, full of hypocrisy, full of bs and full of the same Bush policies.....Hell, McCain and Palin don't even agree on things....McCain is pimping women and I find that to be sexist...Then as a VP, how can be so stupid to even consider voting for McCain and he's afraid to let his VP speak to the press...That's because her @$$ is not prepared and McCain knows it..

And for those democrats who now claim to be McCain supporters....I say you really didn't care about Hillary or democrats in the beginning....A double minded man is an unstable man.....So now you guys are pro-life......I hope none of you or your family members unfortunately get pregnant......God forbid by some unnatural way.....Your ticket has decided you're going to keep it anyway....The race is tight but I know Barack will prevail in the in.

8 years of complete, total and utter failure is enough, doncha think?

CHANGE!!!!!!!!!!! Ha!!!!!!! The only change the repugs will bring will be to make our situation even worse thanit already is............as if that's even possible. Vote Repug and it will become a reality.

In my opinion this case is about Domestic Violence/Domestic Harrassment, and Sarah had every right to defend her family against it. All to often women and their families are attacked by the violators, and the police do nothing about it. This sometimes results in the death of the woman, or disruption of the whole family. Police often are reluctant to get involved, and give the violators slaps on the wrists. I for one applaud her for addressing the issue, especially when she had the power to do so.

We do not need another hero, we don???t need another war, we need a President that have vision and know what to do no just look back and show your military credentials they are very well deserved. But know we need a President that takes this Country to a new level, we need a new generation that know to end this war and gain the International recognition and not a VP that comes along to show nothing and a man that only knows torn on the opponent. Show me that you will change Washington and have a VP that has the poorest record on the Politics of the USA. I will vote Obama and Joe
    Thanks Joe

Although your position is decided, I am grateful that we have good choices this time as compared to the last 4 or 5 elections. Both groups want change. Both are composed of good people. I believe the one elected will do a good job but really the question is are we going to do our parts? When all the hooting and hollering is done, the ballots cast and the decision final are we going to become just Americans again and do our part to make this the best choice for our country. We blame everybody else for our problems and disappointments but it is our divided nature that has brought us to this day . Do what is best for America and become part of the solution. It is not enough to just put someone in. We all need to get behind and push, and get out in front and pull and lead the way back to what made the American dream in the first place. A land that loves liberty and freedom more than life itself. And a land where our neighbor is loved as much as ourselves. To quote a wise woman of Oklahoma, I don't say I'm no better than anybody else, but I'll be dam'd if I'm not just as good! There is the real change we need, Leave the vices and illegal activities and make tomorrow better than today has been, for our children, wives, and families.

Sarah Palin's retaliation and vindictiveness and her personality in general remind me of three people I have met in this world. One is still freely walking the earth, a most vindictive person, considered truly evil by many. God still allows this one to breathe and live. Oddly, this one is also a woman from Alaska, who even admitted she had been shot at. The sentiment of many was, "Too bad they missed. " The other two? One is in prison for life and the other one was murdered.

  • Posted By: philhelen @ 09/11/2008 3:54:12 AM

naturally the GOP needs to keep Palin at the side of McCain, for the fear of the news media asking tought questins regarding world affair issues, which Sarah doesn[t have a clue about. also the media would certainly ask for explanations as to whether Sarah feels about GOD playing a part in her plans, i.e.the real question is GOD a republican? further considering her alliance with her far out religious group how can Sarah justify her own daughters out of wed lock pregnancy, after 5 months of hinding same?

  • Posted By: fenewsweek @ 09/10/2008 10:10:17 AM

Ms. Palins religious conservatism - bah hum bug! What about when she was doing the wild thing in moose country before she ran off and married her "high school sweet heart? Was this a "shot gun wedding, too"? Just wondering. Tina in Tempe

Seems like we are trading in one crazy, sneaky Republican VP for another. Palin is an attack dog and she may find Pit Bulls entertaining and enlightening......BUT...... Do we want one in our own back yard???? If she is a maverick it is for her own personal use. Why does husband Todd get perks from the state of Alaska? Could you imagine if that was the way wll elected persons did thier job. Give perks to spouses? She is a joke and America is going to find out. Really.....in deference to all Pitt Bull owners...it is your right to have the pet you want but when did Pitt Bulls become so full of leadership credentials. They are known for being throat biting bullys as the name implys. Palin = Cheney II..... Complete with the AK47.

    • Posted By: blackcourt @ 09/10/2008 10:48:10 AM

What "perks" has her husband recieved. I'd be interested to see some sort of list as evidence of your accusations.

e-mails that he had no right to see.

  • Posted By: philhelen @ 09/11/2008 3:48:55 AM

its obvious that the GOP needs to keep Sarah Palin close to McCains coat-tails, in order that the media is preventted from asking "tought" questions related to world affairs, which she would blunder on. her fasanation will soon wear thin once she engages in debates with Biden..considering the religious group she professes to belong to , it will be difficulty for her to justify her own daughter's out of wed lock pegenacy.

  • Posted By: Brocklin000 @ 09/10/2008 10:56:21 AM

This is a very biased and slanted article. Try researching the local Alaskan press - quite a different story. This guy Wooten is 4 cans short of a six pack and prone to violence. The Palin family was protecting itself from this idiot. Folks like phyngrrl and luisamarie don't have a clue. Palin WILL be the next VP and bring a real breath of fresh air to Washington. Shame on Newsweek for their obvious support of Obama slant.

    • Posted By: abadreview @ 09/10/2008 11:01:55 AM

Well of course YOU don't like the article, it isn't blind to the possible crimes committed by your V.P. candidate. Abuse of Power is a serious charge, especially by a governor. The days of Republican corruption are coming to an end, sorry to have to be the one to break it to you.

      • Posted By: rocude @ 09/10/2008 11:20:51 AM

Thanks for breaking it to me that Palin is so corrupt, what a great article detailing her vast corruption and how it's now finally all crumbling down around us. She goes after a relative that tasers her nephew and she is deemed corrupt. Her corruption must be why she's had approval ratings in the 90's, higher than any other Governor in the country. Her corruption must be why Alaska's tax plan is one of the most attractive in the country. Her corruption must be why she opposses infanticide and partial birth abortions unlike her misguided counterparts that think Catholics are cool with abortion. Her vast corruption must be why Newsweek is digging so hard to find 3 year old "corrupt" issues. Thanks for breaking all this to us misguided Christian Republican Idiots.

With her lipstick pitbull attitude it wouldnt suprise me if she bullied the press as well to get what she wants.

      • Posted By: elizabethpaige @ 09/11/2008 3:40:25 AM

She won't bully Newsweek, Chris Matthews, Keith Olderman, Rachel Maddow. It is obvious that Americans are frightened of the crazy pitbull with lipstick getting anywhere near the White House. Simple, don't vote Republican.

    • Posted By: MarkieBee @ 09/10/2008 11:20:50 AM

will you freakin wake up! This isn't about Wooten. It's about an abuse of power! Wooten is a jerk by all accounts. That doesn't make it OK to abuse an elected office like that a force out what every report has stated was a competent public servant.

    • Posted By: mt_redoubt @ 09/10/2008 11:07:33 AM

I think you are mischaracterizing the Alaska press in their portrayal of Wooten. They definitely don't endorse him, but they also don't make him out to be the kook you have. In fact, the commenters on the Anchorage Daily News excoriate the newspaper as being biased against Sarah Palin because they don't make Wooten out to be a total nut job, as you have done.

Palin is simply a distraction for America. She have not proven she can do anything more than read a telepromter. Lets Talk Issues. The Economy is in a Funk, Record UnEmployment, Lost of Jobs. We are stuck in Iraq, everyday our troups are coming back in body bag and we are blinded. John McCain Promise Victory in Iraq. Victory from what. We invaded a country that had not striked against us. We struck a country on False Pretense. YOu think the Iraq people love us? The moment we are gone they will let the dogs loose. The longer we stay, the more american blood will be shed. Who wins? What Victory. Take your hallow Victory, I want a healthy economy, I want health care, I want peace.

Liberals just hate the fact that a conservative woman (one with real character and true life-experience) will break the glass ceiling before Hillary. Remember, if you spew too much venom, it might just drip back on yourself !

Character? You've got to be kidding. What has she done to prove her mettle?

      • Posted By: pearsoncrz @ 09/10/2008 4:44:24 PM

Well, unlike Obama, she did not use cocaine for years. That's one thing.

Unlike Obama, she has stood up to leaders in her party. The only time Obama varies from the party line is when he has to pay back one of his big financial supporters, or one of his special interest groups, like his vote on FISA that gave retroactive immunity to all those communications companies that violated their customers' civil and constitutional rights.

Unlike Obama, she states her position, and doesn't vary from it just to get elected, and she knows the limits of government. Obama was pro-Palestinian when he was running for state office, but when he decided to run for national office he switched and became pro-Israeli, telling his Palestinian American friends that he 'd be more up front with his real positions on the situation after he won the election. Oh, but then he decided to run for POTUS, so he hasn't come out of the closet on that one yet, except for a couple of slip ups here and there in the campaign.

        Need I say more?

          • Posted By: elizabethpaige @ 09/11/2008 3:20:34 AM

I recall reading that Palin admitted to experimenting with drugs, adding: "Unlike Bill Clinton, I did inhale."

We have a sinking economy, record debt, a housing crisis, ongoing wars on multiple fronts, looming environmental crises, inept immigration policies, rising inflation, rising unemployment, a global image in shambles, global leading imprisonment rates, inadequate education and drug treatment systems, and a gigatic freaking problem with the health care industry; and what, with all of these problems, are we addressing? Nothing! Were talking about a VP candidate. Do any of you jabbering idiots understand whats at stake in this decade? I do not feel sorry for you who are enthrawled by and encouraging this soap opera, because you deserve no pity, but for the next generation who are going to have to suffer the plight of what this intelectually devoid voting public will leave them. All of the candidates can say they've always been proud of their country, but thats a lie, because no sane person could be proud of this right now.

  • Posted By: msles59130 @ 09/10/2008 2:48:04 PM

This is about her abuse of power. She tried to get rid of him before she was the governor and there is damning evidence that she continued to do so after she was elected. And the most scary thing to me is that she FIRED THE GUY WHO STUCK TO THE LAW. She stepped on someone who got in her way.

The complaints out there about her ex-brother-in-law all occured well before the divorce proceedings, and she did not take immediate action. To do so during the custody fight makes it clear she has an agenda and was not just fight for decency and truth.

Anyway, let her speak and defend herself. If she really is not a wind-up Caribou Barbie, then the republicans should actually let her speak on her own, to show us her mind. Or at the very least spare us their version of events that they were not there for and have no evidence to support.

    • Posted By: voxitar @ 09/10/2008 2:55:45 PM

If I were a citizen, governor, or president, and some crazed cop ex brother-in-law with a disciplinary file a foot thick threatened my sister or my family, you can bet I would do everything in my power to get him fired, too. Sarah Palin protects her family....she'll protect America as well.

      • Posted By: msles59130 @ 09/10/2008 3:09:38 PM

Good job with the talking points. Actually, she was unable to get him fired, so she is not too good at protecting her own. She fired the guy who struck to the law.

So according to your logic, she can't protect America.

        • Posted By: voxitar @ 09/10/2008 4:31:58 PM

Nice job repeating the talking points spoon-fed you by the DailyKOS kidz and DUmmies, but fact of the matter is she fired a guy who was a political appointee and wasn't doing the job he was hired to do, which was recruit and hire troopers. Perfectly within her ability and authorization as governor to do. Try not to cry, and bring on the next smear! This is fun! :D

I just read the articles and then thought about it, and came to my conclusions. I would say try it, but I don't want you to hurt yourself. Thinking can be tough on people like you, since you're not used to it. ;)
