In Search of Rational Voters

I wonder if Palin was a short, overweight, single person, maybe even gay, would the Gov of Alaska be the VP selection.

Some people are just idiots and vote for irrational reasons like, "I wont vote for Obama because he's a: Muslim, terrorist, elite, sexist, etc." They wont vote for him even though not doing so will hurt their own self-interest, i.e, "I wont vote for Obama because he will raise my taxes" when in fact he will lower them for 95% of Americans. Amazing. But hey, this country was stupid enough to vote for Bush twice; just scare them to death (see McCain's intro video before he spoke at the GOP convention) and they will line up.

A rational voter is an informed voter. Someone who may never vote a straight ticket, but votes by why he or she feels will be best for country, county and town.

You know my friend.....I don't believe the American voter lacks intelligence... Is more like we selectively live it at the door when we need to. For you to say that tax cuts will be paid with (what else) expenditures cuts... Completely ignores the fact that you do not have one shred of credibility left as a party in that regard..... 8 Years of doing exactly the opposite attest to that.

I think a rational voter is someone who listens and never votes a straight ticket, unless that is how they feel their country, county and community is best served.

Personally I feel John McCain is a pathetic example of a man. After what was done to him eight years ago he has voted with Bush 95% of the. All he wants isto be President of the United States and he doesn't seem
to care how he gets it. I am a political junky so I keep close tabs on the candidates and what they say..How
stupid is he to think we women are so dumb as to vote for him just because there women. Barak Obama is
going to make a very good President. When is McCain going to talk about the issues at hand? Why does
the media not ask him questions about any of the issues ? If anyone is sexist it's the McCain campaign
they are the ones who chose someone, who is someone barely anyone knows,for his vice President. How
pathetic they are. McCaine can never win this election people are tired of being lied to. God help this country
if the republicans get in again.

Most voters believe in god an most believe in social security. You cant get more foolish, ignorant or just plain stupid than that.

Remember when McCain said about Hillary's health care bill: it looks like a lipstick on the pig. No body said words about it. Actually, by using the same word to chacacterize McCain pretending he's a reformer while in back ground still adopting the same Bush's policy, McCain got the nerve to apologize. Did McCain do so when he said the samething about Hillary?
The big difference is that McCain said Hillary's bill while Obama did not name any name.

I too am convinced there are no rational voters in this country. Since we elected the last guy because he was someone we wanted to have a beer with, then I say that we get exactly what we deserve. This country is headed for Third World status soon enough, with China, India, and Russia (not to mention Osama Bin Laden and his regrouping al Qaeda) all laughing their guts out.

You know my friend listening to you one might think the REPUBLICAN Bush Administration was a model of fiscal responsibility. We all know in fact the opposite to be true. So why is it again that you say "Liberals are irrational"? Because we do not want to vote for the policies of the Republican party represented and supported 100% by Conservatives?

Hey!! If McCain that voted 90% of the time with Bush, and the Republican base that supported Bush 100% of the time are now the party of "change" and you actually buy it, then I am sure you are ready to endorce just about anything comming from your Party as "rational" .

As for the rest of all mortals we find it a bit irrational to vote to reward the party that gave us 8 years of Bush with still 4 more years!!!! What a dumb bunch we are right?

Rational voters? Yeah! If there were more of them in America, there would be no question as to which candidate would be the most beneficial to our country, not a "dead heat," as some polls show. Too many vote for four essentially Non-rational reasons: party, right or wrong, gender, race, or religion. None of these are, in the long haul, valid. Few, if any "races" in world history are unmixed; evangeligcals cherry-pck from the Bible to spew hate against ALL Muslims, not just the extremists, while still claiming they follow Christ's teachings; women frequently vote--and seem to be shifting to McCain, just because he has a women on the ticket--for their own sex, presumably because no women has yet been president or vice-president. This ignores, the issues off STABILITY, DIPLOMACY, and BIPARTISANSHIP, which, I am sorry to say, Hillary DID NOT and does not possess. Witness her comments about "annihilating Iran" a few months ago. We desperately need a president, whether Republican or Democrat--that can curtail the belligerance that the U.S. has shown since WWII and shift most our tax dollars away from the Pentagon and the trogs there, to education, job-creating industries, infrastructure, and environment. Not one single country/empire that relied on arms for its power exists in more than a shadow of its former self. All, from Babylonia, Egypt, Rome, Greece, the Ottoman Empire are today countries with essentially poor populations. We're next,.

ONLY SOLUTION

Every intelligent as well as struggling person
votes absentee. When a recount is needed,
only the intelligent and poor voters will count !

Yes, McCain has explained how to pay for the tax cuts. He will control spending, the major failure of the Republican congress lately. The conservatives of this country desperately need reform of the Republican party, spending is the biggest problem, followed by corruption.

I have been wringing my economic conservative hands for the past 8 years, hoping for a maverick or two to shake things up. Now we have them, they are going to win, and with any luck they will do what they say (something politicians of both parties fail on constantly)

The Bush administration cut taxes for everyone who pays taxes. Taxes were cut by a larger percentage for poorer than for richer. The MSM is reporting more dollars of tax cut for the rich, but you have to understand that a smaller percentage of a larger number is often a larger dollar value than a higher percentage of a smaller number. Math 101???

But I do not support the Bush Administration. He has failed on so many fronts to live up to the conservative beliefs. Additionally, while the main stream media have replayed the clip showing McCain stating how often he has voted with Bush, and repeated as being 90%, you need to research the fact that most of the time it was budget related votes. Big issues where McCain has proven to fight for you by being a maverick he has not agreed with the President. Yes, Corporate tax in this country is 38%, while Ireland is around 15%, in fact our corporate tax is the second highest in the world, trailing only Japan. Still, increasing corporate tax has the bad results of driving business away. Have you not noticed the business leaving this country?
