Show voters their votes truly count and cannot be stolen or altered by any party, whether they are currently in power or not. No more stolen elections!!
Show voters their votes truly count and cannot be stolen or altered by any party, whether they are currently in power or not. No more stolen elections!!
If you build a rational system, which truly cares about the top 100% of this great nation, they will come.
You want rational voters? Make the choices rational, make the reporting rational. Make the election coverage rational. Make the interviewing rational. Most of all, make all of them, regardless of party tell the truth and publically call them on it if they do not. Give the voters rational choices.
We can mint more rational voters by eliminating politics that are hijackable by groups who seek to character assasinate their opponent with half-truths and outright lies. By demanding truth in campaigning, just as we do for advertising. By creating a news media which seeks to report truth in a 100% unbiased fashion, not by witholding the truth to keep a candidate propped up and not witholding truth to assist in a disparagement or maligning of another. By refusing to report on or even interview candidates or proponents of that candidate that repeatedly refuses to answer the questions asked by the American people and those of the news media interviewer. By requiring candidates for any office to fully disclose their answers to the issues at hand, and not allowing them to use the opportunity to go off subject in an obvious attempt not to answer the question.
Here, here C. MacLean, I do wholeheartedly agree with that statement, very well put!!!
Oh yeah, tell Dick Cheney's buddy that they can do face transplants now! Gee, I wonder if he will vote Republican this election?
Anyone that votes Republican after the last eight years could not possibly be a rational voter. They can either be rich or corporate, they can just be plain old stupid, or they could have lived under a rock during the past eight years and have only recently emerged.
Obama is on the senate foreign relations committee and he has Joe Biden with him. I trust Joe's understanding of foreign relations... he is well thought of in that area by both republicans and democrats. There has been a great missreprestation of Obama's position on how to dea with rogue nations. He has never once suggested we should cooperate with terrorist sponsoring countries like Iran. He has said that it is better to talk to your enemies... which is what the Bush administration has finally admitted is the best path. The best example of this strategy is how we dealt with Khadafi of Libya. Libya is no longer a major terrorist threat because we showed them a carrot along with the stick. "Rattling the swords" is all fine and good, but usually leads no where but to war. Its better to walk softly and carry a big stick. Wisdom in dealing with your enemies is a much better strategy. Dimplomacy is how we are making advances in N Korea too. Talking with someone doesn't indicate weakness. Gandhi and Mother Theresa are dead... but look how much they acomplished without violence. Violence is not always avoidable, but it should be the last resort not the first.
The only change you are going to see with McCain/Palin is how much faster your money goes to corporate America and their pockets. Oh yeah, let me not forget how much faster our children are sent il-equipped and under-manned to a war zone to die for Republican mistakes and delusions of grandeur.
Republicans wear rose colored glasses and never hear anything of importance, unless of course it involves them making money regardless of who it hurts to get it. Pretend you did not live the past eight years under George Bush and his stupid policies which pretty nearly have cost the vast majority of you everything. Come on, vote us in for four more years of the same and we will thankyou by giving you the only change you are ever going to see from us Republicans, a change faces to be angry with for having duped you yet again.
And that is what I, a person who has never voted in 47 years of life have noticed about the Republicans. Obama has awakened the voter in me and I shall excercise my accordingly to vote for the person whom I feel has the best interest of this nation at heart. The one that cares about 100% of the nation as opposed to only the top 5% of it. You see, I belong to the Mythical Rational Voters Guild and I do not subscribe to casting my precious vote carefully researching before hand and watching the candidates, not listening to the rhetoric. I refuse to send my vote to the waste bin of life by voting for anybody to fatten my wallet or my buddies wallet. But, if you are Republican, I really do not expect you to believe that, you see, to be a Republican in this day and age, means you are rich, easily influenced or just plain old stupid to vote for someone whom history has clearly shown, does not give a damn about you in any sense of the word care and who would rather cheat you as a soon look at you. People who only need you during election time and then no longer acknowledge you when they get into office. People who only care about profits and how much duping they can do to you before they truly need your vote again. At which point, you become important to them yet again and they want to come amongst you and your kind as they say, when they want to win an election.
I thought this was interesting about the mascots of the two parties.......
What is the origin of the Democratic and Republican party symbols?
The Democratic Party mule (originally "jackass," also referred to as a "donkey") and Republican party elephant have been used as party symbols since the early 1870s, when the political cartoonist Thomas Nast used these animals to caricaturize and criticize party actions.
Nast criticized the Democrats for giving a bad name to a Republican who had died the previous year by picturing the Democratic Party as a mule (an animal often thought of as stubborn and stupid) kicking a lion (the dead Republican). However, the Democrats had some sense of humour, and accepted the mule as their symbol, saying that after all, mules also have many fine qualitities, such as not giving up easily.
Another version credits Ignatius Donnelly, a Republican in the Minnesota State Legislature, as saying "the Democratic party is like a mule ??? without pride of ancestry or hope of posterity" (nb: mules are produced from crossbreeding of horses and donkeys, and cannot themselves reproduce).
The Republican elephant was Nast's idea as well. There are two explanations for his choice of the animal. The first (Republican?) version states that Nast chose the elephant because it is an emblem of wisdom and power. The more negative explanation is that Nast got disillusioned with the "clumsy and slow" GOP. One can seldom talk about flexibility and an elephant in the same sentence.
1950s Democratic presidential candidate Adlai Stevenson observed that "the elephant has a thick skin, a head full of ivory, and as everyone who has seen a circus parade knows, proceeds best by grasping the tail of its predecessor."
Further background can be found in Arthur Bartlett Maurice's Thomas Nast and His Cartoons. See also Wilson and DiIulio, American Government, 6th Edition, 1995, page 157.

Comment: Republicans cannot and will not it seems be honest about even the smallest thing. It seems lying and deceit are a way of life with some of these folks. The higher you go up the chain, the more evident it becomes. Is there not one honest individual among you?
I think the only honest people to Democrats are other Democrats that carry the same views and moral standards such as yourself. People that continue to be narrow minded and not look at the big picture of the repurcussions this country will go through from the views of terrorism, economy, energy, taxes, education, liberal agendas, liberal supreme court justices, and the other negatives that the tickle me elmo doll (Obama) will enforce then those will be the people according to your version of an honest rational person.
10,000 replies and 99% only see what they want to see. Forget any facts.
Yup, it's like talking to a stubborn mule (Oh yeah that is the democrats mascot)LOL!
You should vote for the candidate that has the greater good of the nation at heart, not the one that has the greater good his wallet and those wallets of his buddies at heart. But then again, you must be rich, so, I'd say vote for McCain, we wouldn't want you to lose your profits, damn the other 95% of us here in this country anyway right?
We all have the same opportunities. I say go to school and stop asking for government hand outs, make smart decision with your money instead of trying to keep up with the Joneses. Heck I give the illegals more credit for working and not leeching off the government and wasting their lives away. Why don't we drug test the people on Welfare before they pick up their monthly checks just like us regular people that work need to drug test for our companies?
In the end of all things, Obama should tell America to vote, not by personality, not by slick attack ads, but by the content and character of the message and the person delivering it. You see, if America truly looks at the McCain/Palin ticket, they will see more of the same. I say this because; John McCain is no longer the man he once was back in 2000. This is because the same machine he now uses with glee, was used quite effectively against him in 2000 (Think back America). John McCain seems more a mere shell of his former self, having been paid for by the very machine he used to hate and would truly from time to time fight against. In 2000, John McCain was truly a ???Maverick??? in almost every sense of the word, but no longer does that person exist. As for Sarah Palin, she is nothing more than a tool. How she can allow herself to be used that way is beyond me, but then again, we are talking about another Harriet Meir, only with a little more experience. But true to Republican form, she does not come without scandal either, which I guarantee, Republicans will find a way to sweep under the carpet before we find out too much on her. I say this because, even as we speak, McCain has dispatched a team to Alaska to disparage any attempts to obtain the truth of her. This was done simply because we already know too much about what little we have already learned and she actually holds extremist views on a wide range of issues even the conservative Republican base cringes at, but are willing to overlook because of its??? desire to win. Win not for the American people, but for themselves and their almost endless list of cronies, who have and stand to profit greatly from having a Republican White House! So, take stock America and be careful whom you vote for, this just might be our last election where we actually have the opportunity to vote!
???McCain/Palin 08??????two bridges to nowhere fast???
???John McCain has been consistent???consistently for the rich???
Obama needs to remind America of each and every scandal and how corrupt this current Republican administration has been. More importantly, show them what the results of each one of the scandals has been as they currently stand. Remind us all of how people were chosen for high positions of power, not by virtue of qualification or tenure, but by how long the president has known them. This alone would point out why hurricane Katrina???s aftermath was more devastating than the actual event itself. Remind America of Harriet Meir, Karl Rove, Jack Abramoff, Scooter Libby, Halli-Burton (which happens to be embroiled in yet another scandal even at this present date), Michael Brown, and the list just goes on and on. Yes, by all means, do what the Republicans fear the very most, expose them for having been the most corrupt administration in the history of this nation, who???s legacy is having run up the highest deficit in the history of this great nation. I think having done this; America will truly begin to view the Palin choice as just another reminder of what the Republicans truly stand for. Not for all of America, only 5% of her??? Remind America where their jobs are now and who allowed that situation to come to pass. Tell America to look deep (although, none of us will have to look far) and ask themselves, ???Are they truly better off now than they were eight years ago????
Republicans should truly be ashamed of themselves for what they do and how they do it. They take from the middle-class and poor, only to give it to the rich and the most undeserved amongst them. Obama truly needs to remind America why we voted their majority out of congress last year and how in response, the remaining Republican puke decided to fight against the American people by stalemating every solution to problems facing us all. They only agreed with a given solution, only if they were allowed to write things into the bills that still gave them the ability to take from the working-poor and middle-class, only to give it to the rich. Obama needs to remind the American public that it is the Republicans who controlled the White House and thus, instituted policies which brought this country to the brink of every looming disaster we now face. How even after being warned what the consequences would be for each given policy, they still pressed them forward in an effort to give corporate America even more profits than it truly deserved, at the expense of the American people. He needs to remind America just who profited from eight years of Bush policies and who has not. Show Americans by the evidence, that the Republican Party only cares about the top 5% of this great nation and could care less about the remaining 95% whom they always seem to manipulate at election time and then disregard after they get the office.
IT WILL TAKE MORE THAN A RATIONAL VOTER TO SORT OUT THIS CRAP:
* I WAS AGAINST FISA, BEFORE I VOTED FOR IT
* I WAS AGAINST DRILLING BEFORE I WAS FOR IT
* I AM AGAINST CLEAN COAL TECHNOLOGY BEFORE IS WAS ASKED ABOUT IT IN PENNSYLVANIA
* I WAS FOR FEDERAL CAMPAIGN FINANCING BEFORE I WAS AGAINST IT
* I WAS AGAINST THE SURGE, BUT I NOW THINK A 16 MONTH WITHDRAWAL WILL NOW WORK DUE TO THE SUCCESS OF THE SURGE, AND IRAQ'S AGREE WITH ME.
* I WAS FOR RAISING TAXES, AND I AM NOW WAFFLING DUE TO ECONOMY
* I WAS FOR RAISING TAXES TO PAY FOR A TRILLION IN NEW SPENDING, BUT I WILL NOT TELL YOU THERE IS LESS THAN 10% CHANCE OF EVER PASSING SPENDING INTO LAW
* I WILL WILL NOW SAY ECONOMY IS BETTER IN DECEMBER, SO I CAN RAISE TAXES IN FEBRUARY
* I AM NOW THE NEW DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION SECRETARY, BUT I HAVE NEVER PASSED ANY EDUCATION LEGISLATION
* I WILL PROMISE HEALTHCARE FOR ALL, BUT I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO FUND IT
* I AM GUIDED BY MY MUSLIM FAITH, BUT NOW MY CHRISTIAN FAITH
* I AM NOT SURE IF I WAS A SUNNI, BEFORE I WAS A SHIITE
* I PREACH ABOUT PALIN'S EARMARK'S AS MAYOR, BUT I WILL NOT MENTION GETTING $1.0 BILLION IN EARMARKS FOR MY PORKERS
* I HAVE THROWN WRIGHT, REZCO, AYERS, AND PFLEGGAR UNDER THE BUS, BUT I DID ONLY AFTER HE I GOT $100'S OF THOUSANDS OR EVEN MILLIONS FOR THEIR PROGRAMS OR MY HOUSE
"I voted with Bush 95% of the time, but I don't agree with his policies!" Riiiight. You don't now that he has a 19% approval rating and you're running for President!
I live in Kansas.
Yes that place you look down at while you fly over America.
My Democrat vote will never count in a presidential election.
Ever.
When you talk about the "dumb vote" or the Wal-Mart" vote, well it is real and very powerful.
In Kansas they still think Ike is president, and the outcome of that monkey trial has yet to be resolved.
Rove has learned how to tap into this resource and use it well.
But a hard rain... is gona fall.
My brother lives in Oklahoma and is astounded at the blinders they have on their. All McCain, all the time, all the way. Scary.
I actually am not a Democrat, nor am I a Republican or anything else, I am an individual in this country, that happens to have been born here and will die here, I love this country, but our politics of the last eight years has been ridiculous at best. I will be a first time voter after 47 years of life and I am voting only to try to assure we do not have another George W. Bush Jr. in office to make us look anymore inept as he has. Make any kind of sense to you, probably not, after all, you are voting Republican right mate?
