Just like this Sarah Palin choice, it will blow up in their faces sooner or later. I just hope it happens sooner, rather than later.

I don't care if a person is plaid with strawberry stripes running down his or her middle. What I do care about is whether or not that person is going to do by right by the people of this country. I was raised in a colorblind household, and I was taught to choose by the content of the person and the content of the persons character. Barack Obama embodies what I was raised to believe, that any man can do for all if he so chooses. I have never, ever witnessed this quality in any Republican. There are some Republicans that have actually sought to do good things, but as always, there have been strings attached, by other less ambitious members of their party to detract them. Presently, there is no one like that in the Republican Party and has not been for a very long time.

Tell me how Obama caters to all. he can't even decide what religion he wants to be. He's for gay marriage, then he is for conservative marriage, then he's not for offshore drilling, then he is for offshore drilling, were losing the war in Iraq, then he praises it because he is seeing the progress in Iraq. Man this guy changes alright....changes his mind! I don't want that for a President. i want someone that can make up his mind and sticks to a decision not plays fiddle to everyone he meets and can't keep promises.

You do realize that you just described McCain, too, right?

One fine day day, every effort of the Republican Party to do dirt to people will backfire horrendeously and blow up in their faces.

The same old, tired and over-used tactic of the Republican party, smear, scam, attack and character assasinate anyone that does not agree with us cheating people for our benefit.

Comment: And this has what to do with Barack Obama? You see, everything that happens in a negative fashion seems to always get attributed to Barack Obama, especially things he had no control over. But why don't you show me that video again depicting Sarah Palin spewing anti-American rhetoric and how God is telling her what to do, and how she speaks in tongues or shows her attending meetings of a known cult, how about that?

I'd like to see that. Do you have it?

  • Posted By: Alongwayback @ 09/11/2008 2:11:11 PM

Republicans cannot and will not it seems be honest about even the smallest thing. It seems lying and deceit are a way of life with some of these folks. The higher you go up the chain, the more evident it becomes. Is there not one honest individual among you?

Some prominent charismatic leaders in Florida are throwing their support behind Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama.

The Tampa Tribune reports controversial pastor Randy White of the Without Walls megachurch in Tampa is supporting Barack Obama and believes his estranged wife and former partner in the church, Paula White, does also.

According to Federal Election Commission records, Paula White gave Obama's campaign $2,300, while her husband donated $2,000 to Obama's White House bid. She is currently under investigation by the Senate Finance Committee for allegedly using the church's tax-free status to buy lavish furnishings for her personal use.

Without Walls International Church did not respond to AFN's request for an interview with Randy White.

Barack Obama continues to be dogged by claims that he is misleading people about his past opposition to a bill in the Illinois legislature protecting babies who survived late-term abortions.

New audio reveals that while arguing against the Born Alive Infant Protection Act (BAIPA) in the Illinois Senate in 2002, state lawmaker Obama suggested two doctors tending to a baby who survived a botched abortion would be too much of a burden to the child's mother.

"And that essentially adding an additional doctor -- who then has to be called in an emergency situation to come in and make these assessments -- is really designed simply to burden the original decision of the woman and the physician to induce labor and perform an abortion," he stated.

Jill Stanek is an Illinois pro-life activist and columnist who has written extensively about Obama's record on abortion. She says the Democratic presidential hopeful "definitely does not have one iota of concern" for the baby.

"He only cares about the doctors, making sure they get enough sleep -- and the mom, making sure that even though her pregnancy is terminated, that she can have the dead baby that she wanted," says Stanek. "So that's apparently his goal with abortion."

Rational voters are far and few between. They are likened to catching fairies, rumors say they exist, folklore says they exist, but just like finding the pot of gold at the end of a rainbow, it's all a myth. Brought to you by, Rational Voters Guild Of America--Rational Voters, the mythical breed.

Obama is level headed if nothing else, I would rather have that guy in control of the bombs our country has, than I would McCain or Palin. Bush has already gotten us into enough stupidity that has created too many lives lost, just because he wanted his name in the history books and to make him and his buddies a whole lot of money in the process. Do you really want another Bush in the White House? Better think about how much longer McCain actually has left to live and then rethink your choices.

Comment: Just because I'm Black: A White male ask his Black friend, Are you voting for Barack Obama because he is Black? The Black male responded by saying Why Not! Black males in this nation are pulled over everday just because thet are black, passed over for promotion just because they are black: considered to be criminals just because they are black, and thousands of you want be votiing for him just because he black, however you don't have a problem with that. This country was built with the sweat and whip off the black slaves' backs, and now their descendents of those same slaves has a chance to lead the same country, were we weren't even considered to be people, where we weren't allowed to be educated, drink from the same water fountains, eat in the same restaurants, or even vote. So yes! I'm going to vote for him! But not because he is Black, but because he represents hope, he is change and now he allows me to understand when my grandson says that he wants to be presiden when he grows up. It is not a fairy tale but a short term goal. He now sees, to understand and know that it can be achieve, withstand and do anything just because he is Black.

You just contradicted yourself by bringing up slavery and your reason to vote for Obama because he is black and represents hope ala Martin Luther King. So you think that the cops are Republicans? Slave owners of the past were Republicans? Man this is sad! I commend Obama for getting this far, but just to vote someone on hoping that things will change because he says it and has no plan is suicide!

No, people are tired of disinformation spewed by the repubs. Olberman and Mathews are still on MSNBC. The terrorists who
attacked us were from Saudi Arabia and Afghanistan. The repubs set a record for filibusters. The repubs call national healthcare socialism, but think nothing of bailing out fannie and freddie. Palin is allowed to change her mind about earmarks, but Kerry was a flip flopper. etc, etc,etc

  • Posted By: Alongwayback @ 09/11/2008 1:53:31 PM

You see, all of these people so willing to vote McCain, have not truly thought it through yet. And when they do and they will, let's just hope it is not too late by then. Understand this, McCain is 72, if elcted and he decides to kick the bucket (Which really, he will not be given a choice in the matter), Sarah Palin will be your next president. Better take a good look now people, because once you put them there, that is what we all will have. Do you still really think she is the one you want controlling everything?

  • Posted By: tinaweha @ 09/11/2008 3:30:25 AM

Alan Ehrenhalt , I wonder if you think a voter is intelligent if they did not vote for Kerry. Are we more intelligent if we listen to NPR? Is it possible that an intelligent person (who started out as a Democrat) went out into the "real world" and learned a lot more about life than could be learned in Manhattan while surrounded by a flock of birds of a feather? I find your article extremely condescending. I grew up around you (and your friends) in an allegorical sense. Is it possible that two intelligent people can read the same book, see the same interview, investigate the same problem... and come up with different reasonable conclusions? The conservative voter (and I'm not talking about the gun-rack pickup-truck tabbacky-chawing mama) can be as rational and well-read as a liberal. The rational conservative (usually a Libertarian like myself or former FED Chairman Paul Volcker) is picking the lesser of two evils (candidates). If you are suggesting that only rational people should vote, I don't believe that Obama would get many votes. Sorry. Read about Libertarians (fiscal conservative/socially liberal) and you might come to the (rational) conclusion that neither candidate would fill the bill. I am a very rational person.... a bit introverted... a bit goofy with my closet full of hats (I adore Italian hats and Louise Green). If I had more money, I would live in Greenwich Village. Oh, would I be happy there! I watch tv that is offbeat: Dexter, Weeds, Big Love, and The Shield... unfortunately, Six Feet Under is off the air. I watch foreign films. I have read part of the Q'oran, though I consider myself a Buddhist, Catholic, Jew. It is possible that there is something more important than giving aid to the poor... though I understand the meaning of mitzvah. Deep down, I know that the most important thing right now is saving the US. Yes, I am old enough to have been teargassed during Viet Nam protests (ouch), but I am not out of touch... unless you think that Axl Rose should not be anyone's heart-throb. Please, dear writer, try to understand that there is more than one rational answer. Sometimes 2 and -2 can both be the correct answers in linear equations. I know you will not quite understand this long post, but there is hope that someone will forward this directly to your inbox. Tina Gregoire

Hello. I can't sleep. I want to take this blog off. I am the person who wrote this. Is there a way to get my post off? I thought I could edit it, but I don't see it.

      • Posted By: tinaweha @ 09/11/2008 7:19:01 AM

Well, this is funny. I just posted my most irrational post yet. And, the conversation is about rationality. Never, ever try to post something blindly without being able to read it first. Never, ever try to post something in the middle of the night when you are tired. I will go down in history as the most irrational person on the boards Fortunately for all of you, I don't vote. haha.

        • Posted By: tinaweha @ 09/11/2008 1:53:20 PM

Well, if someone could flag this post for me, it would be great. I can't get the moderators to take it off. My husband comes from a family of Democrats who will not be happy with this name here. I didn't say anything bad, it just came out sounding stupid. I was in a big hurry to post it and I didn't review it before I read it. Accck. Ms or Mr Moderater: please take this off. I will show up on your doorstep for a handout if you don't take it off. (This is almost funny. Should I write a sitcom about a blogger? It would be played by Tina Fey.)

And you think by having John McCain, just a heartbeat away from death in office is going to make Sarah Palin, who is a known religious extremist fruitcake, keep her hands off of the button do you? I'm sorry dude, but I am not willing to take that chance based on the past Republican track record. You had better go look it up and think about retracting that statement.

Biden a "good Catholic" who supports the execution of human beings still in the womb. DNA shows us that these "fetuses" are a human life, not a rattlesnake, rhino, duck-billed platypus, alligator or chimpanzee - only human. The only crime the child has committed was to be conceived by a pair of children (mentally) who are more interested in recreation than procreation, which is what all of the billions of other species on the earth reserve sex for.

I just heard an interesting interview on NPR with a Baptist minister who has known Palin for 20 years. He sais some nice things about her, but said he is not supporting her as a VP. The reason? He said she sees the world in black and white ... good versus evil... there is no middle ground on any issue. He went on to say that that sort of thinking on an international stage "could blow up the world". He said she thought he was too liberal. This is someone who likes her and has known her for years. It is clear that she has no foreign policy experience or understanding (living nearer to Russia is the silliest argument yet) couple this with fundamentalist chrisitan zealotry and what will we have if McCain doesn't make it? It has been pointed out that the Republicans who work in the foreign policy arena are defeaning in their silence. Senator Lugar (R) congratulated Obama on picking Biden because of his foreign policy expertise, but has not said word one on Palin.
I have to believe in my heart (for my own sanity) that both Republicans and Democrats want this country to be safe and prosperous for all Americans... and that they just differ on how to get their. I hope the Republicans who know what a threat to our securtiy Palin is, will stand up and put America above their own party.

I think Obama will sell out our country the first chance he gets and leave it vulnerable to another terrorist attack! He tickles peoples ears and tells them what they want to hear, but he is just another car salesman!

      • Posted By: Huberc @ 09/11/2008 1:30:13 PM

That is the beauty of America. I can dissagree with you and I am allowed to do so. I believe Obama is a good, intelligent and articulate man. I don't think he's perfect, but I believe he has the best interests of our country at heart. I also think the rest of the world, expecially our allies will be much more inclined to work with us if he is President - and in a world of terrorists, we need really need each other. I respect Obama. I don't dislike McCain, I just think he is very old and out of touch with the world today and will continue the policies of Bush that have failed so badly. I am afraid of Palin because she is a zealot with no experience. I believe Obama, as a highly educated man, will surround himself with highly qualified, educated people. Palin and Mc Cain are surrounded by Bush people.... and we know where that goes.

I want a guy that can make a decision for the good of our country in defense of national security. Obama has 0 foreign policy experience. He wants to "negotiate" with terrorists. Sorry, but Ghandi and Mother Teresa are no longer alive and these types of dictators will not have a sit down and tea with an American!
