Say what you want. I go on facts not feel good defenses. I have to show my ID when I vote, that doesn't dismis the fact that there is still jim crow practices going on in back rooms being formulated from the ' how can we disguise this thing' tactics. You can't be right on one hand which is, yes IDing people is nessesary however black people are still being discriminated against. You who would deny that, would be no different than those who denied it in the past when it was going on in wide open public. Like I said, don't insult our intelligence, we've lived it and continue to live it. Doesn't take a genius, .

What I see is that certain types of people can get away with even war crimes and out right lies to take this country to war. Oh but these people who are bucking the system to get long over due fair play with their voting rights, well, we just have to do something about them. They could destroy our moral standing in the world. LOL Garbage. That's what you call, MORE OF THE SAME!

This is just another failure on the MSM's part and falls squarely in your laps. You guys know good and well who these people are, that many are still in office passing laws today and what these people were doing to discriminate against Blacks in the jim crow era. And just the same way the MSM is graded a failure for their huge lack of reporting race discrimination circumstances to support what is actually happening to Blacks, you are now straight out lying. I'll get the facts my self and post the proof for all to see that the MSM is still in the racist back pockets!

"Republicans aren't bigots like the jim crow segregationist." Who in the heck do you guys think you are fooling. Check their ages, THEY ARE THE SAME BIGOTS AND THEY WERE AND STILL ARE JIM CROW SEGREGATIONIST!!! These people are the pigs with lipstick on. Check their ages and then check their record in the 50s and 60s. These politicians voted against voting rights for Blacks back then and have been in disguise ever sinc. Please, don't insult our intelligence.

How patronizing to blacks. I'm half black, and I've had a driver license since I was 15 (now 35)..The left acts as if we need them or govt. to come to our rescue. But I don't, and that's why I make well almost $200K/yr. and vote GOP. Alter needs to worry about his hair loss, not my vote..

    • Posted By: MsChiTown @ 09/12/2008 9:13:45 AM

You're half-cocked is what you are. How is it patronizing for the government to enforce the law if sorry party has nothing to offer in an election and so has to scheme to win?

      • Posted By: dwjam1 @ 09/12/2008 9:17:51 AM

I am all black and it does not matter my race and together my husband an I gross 402,000 ayear - by the way he is all black and we vote democrat for the people . You were you been not where you going. The government should be for the people so what is your point.

        • Posted By: benluclar @ 09/12/2008 10:11:55 AM

In what industry do they pay 402,000 a year to someone who
does not speak the English language even half-decently?
You must be someone entertaining yourself today and hoping for an audience

In my experiences, people who are in that income bracket do not talk about their income. I deal with them daily.

  • Posted By: SPORTLOCK09 @ 09/12/2008 10:33:08 AM

As far as Sarah Palins experience goes, couldn't she just have a 300 man/person team of advisors also? If it's good for Obama, why is it not good for Palin? Oh yeah I forgot, Obama's a Democrat.

  • Posted By: SPORTLOCK09 @ 09/12/2008 10:26:23 AM

Gas and electric companies dont require valid credentials to have services turned on. Ask them how many 8yr old kids have a $1000 electric bill in their name.

  • Posted By: moelke @ 09/12/2008 10:08:02 AM

So, by your argument poor black people don't have IDs so they won't be able to vote. Uhm, so I suppose they aren't buying cigarettes or liquor either because you need IDs to buy them too. Why don't you write another column stating the cigarette, beer hating liberal left Democrats are preventing poor blacks from getting drunk and emphysema? You won't because the truth is they've all got IDs because if they didn't they couldn't buy Kools and Colt 45, two of the many ID necessary items specifically created, marketed and purchased by the socioeconomic group you speak of. This is pure and simple race bating AKA the Democratic Platform.

You have hit the nail on the head.

Respect for hard working poor people has gone done steadily with many people making personal judgements based on the income earned by another - ie, rich people must be smart and hard working and poor people are dumb and lazy. We respect those that have capital and no longer respect labor (hard work).

How far before this crowd starts believing in the divine rights of the powerful?

I find it very disgusting that these people continue to prey on the poor, to do whatever they can to remove any bit of involvement with our government which is after all supposed to represent all of us, not just the powerful.

    • Posted By: SPORTLOCK09 @ 09/12/2008 10:16:15 AM

Are you stating an $11. state id is only affordable to the rich? lol I would suggest you check the local liquer sales around the area's of these disenfranchised voters. Then ask yourself, can they really not afford to buy an id for $11. or are they stating if I have to go out of my way what-so-ever, just forget it, I'm not voting?

  • Posted By: SPORTLOCK09 @ 09/12/2008 10:12:11 AM

Could it be the Dems would rather have a vote then catch a convict? People, dont be fooled. The reason these GROWN ADULTS don't have a measely ID card is because they are running from the law and would be arrested if they tried to get one. Wake up, whats more important, a convict going to jail for his crime or an extra vote for the Democrats?

  • Posted By: sieg6529 @ 09/12/2008 9:43:55 AM

The Republicans are so slimy it sickens me. They would do anything to hold onto power, since their architect has plainly stated that the party needs to maintain a permanent majority. We're no longer a democracy; even Mexico directly elects its presidents.

    • Posted By: SPORTLOCK09 @ 09/12/2008 10:09:21 AM

If you believed your own statement wouldn't/shouldn't you be bytching about Hilary getting more votes then Obama, yet Obama is the one running for office?

  • Posted By: bdhotwheel @ 09/12/2008 3:12:46 AM

Can someone slap the back of Obama's head whenever he talks. I'm tired of all his studdering! Just answer the darn questions and ssssstop thinking sssso mmmmmuch!

    • Posted By: MsChiTown @ 09/12/2008 10:06:25 AM

Well if George Duh?-ba-yu doesn't bother you (can you say nu-cu-lar?) why should that?

  • Posted By: benluclar @ 09/12/2008 10:05:47 AM

How many parents on this forum would HIRE a BABYSITTER
who had NO ID and go pick them up and drive them to your own
    house to WATCH YOUR CHILDREN?
But it would be okay in this election to babysit your COUNTRY, right?

  • Posted By: benluclar @ 09/12/2008 10:04:14 AM

If the Democrats do not require experience or knowledge or
American life residency and birth, why on earth would they
be mndful of collecting and driving people to to vote on election
day who do not have any ID card to prove who they are?
After all, there is no requirement to PROVE WHO YOU ARE
to run for President in the Democratic Party.
    Ho hum...

  • Posted By: garbo527 @ 09/12/2008 10:02:07 AM

you are kidding right? I believe that every state should require some sort of identifaction to vote. you have to have id to get a job, what is the big deal? you have to have id to buy beer, you have to have id to fly a plane, but you shouldn't have to have and id to vote? come on!

  • Posted By: yellerjacket @ 09/12/2008 9:43:53 AM

If these poor, black potential voters can find the motivation and time to "take a bus or catch a ride from a friend" to their respective polling place to vote, then they should have no problem taking a bus or catching a ride from a friend to their local motor vehicles bureau to get a nondriver voter ID. Are you saying that is just too difficult and too much to expect from these people? Sure, voting should be relatively simple and accessible to all people, but to suggest that the idea that all voters should have a valid form of ID confirming their identity and preventing potential voter fraud is a grand scheme by the GOP to keep likely Democratic black voters from the polls is absurd. If someone can't get find the motivation to get himself a valid ID in the next two months, I doubt he or she will find the motivation to make it to the polls on November 4, whether an ID is required or not.

My Goodness, where is all the outrage from Obama's side? Perhaps, it is all true?

    • Posted By: dwjam1 @ 09/12/2008 9:27:04 AM

you don't need to react to loosers when you know they don't have any thing to run on. like the bully in school who was dumb and couldn't answer a question if you gave him the answer (mccain). So what does he do talk about you and try to attack - why react quasqueton

  • Posted By: bdhotwheel @ 09/12/2008 3:14:39 AM

Will we finally get to see who's holding Obama's strings at the debates? If he thought Hillary reemed him a new one, wait till McCain shows him up! Can anyone say backpeddle for the Dem. candidate?

    • Posted By: dwjam1 @ 09/12/2008 9:23:57 AM

what mccain are you talking about bdhotwhell - the one that puts himself to sleep and given one policy just attacks on his rival. An I'm an Independent - that hasn't decided to vote but I know better than that

    • Posted By: MsChiTown @ 09/12/2008 9:17:39 AM

Yeah, Hillary really showed him, huh. Now who was it that won the primary?

  • Posted By: dartagnansblade @ 09/12/2008 7:44:29 AM

Alter is and never has been interested in the facts. Notice he said "drivers licence" as opposed to ID ? He is a clown with an agenda and he preached to the people who don't bother to figure out the truth. Gore lost Florida because Bush got more votes.....period. Those people in the superdome had cell phones, many had tattoos and jewelery, nice clothes etc. Why don't they have a licence to drive?
    Nonsence................
