    The Democrats caused this financial correction, under the Carter and Clinton administrations, by forcing financial institutuions to cover loans to people they knew would or could never pay them back.

      Just as a reply to you two, the Republicans controlled Congress six of the last eight years, when the seeds of most of this financial catastrophe were sown. The Democrats' recent control is a boon to you guys, because you can conveniently blame the economy on them, regardless of the fact that it's been heading steadily downward ever since the Iraq War was declared, even though Republicans have failed to support anything but a petroleum-based energy policy or even get off foreign oil.

      Try harder.

      I thought congress ran the country, they are the ones who decide which laws go before the president and can always overide the presidents veto. Who has the majority in congress? Oh wait it's the democrats that's right, but in the end it doesn't matter who's in the white house or who's in the congress or the house they are all politicians and none of them are doing what they are supposed to be doing. Represent the people.

        In case you haven't noticed, technically democrats really aren't the one who control the congress. It's split almost fifty fifty with the tie breaker belong to independent. But unless democrats control 60% of the congress, nothing is going to be done, considering Republican is still out there with their whine and do nothing and democrats with their whine and no back bones to do anything. This is a good investment from my perspective rather than having our government use our money and bail another company courtesy of our tax dollars.

      Who has been in the majority in congress, oh yes it's been the democrats. As all know the president doesn't make the laws, congress does. In the end it doesn't matter neither party is doing there job as shown by congress's approval rating which is even lower than the presidents. So while democrats whine about republicans and republicans whine about the democrats nothing is getting done. Our government is failing to do it's job, but I'm sure as usual the're will just be a lot of finger pointing by bloggers and it will be just business as usual and for our government that means nothing will get done and will keep getting our energy from other country's.
