Supporting a candidate without understanding the issues that are fundamental to his/her thinking is nothing short of "STUPID!" For those white women who have extended their support to the McCain-Palin ticket simply because it now includes a white woman, better take a closer look at her record and her positions. Take a step back from the "hype" and use your brains --- think ???intelligently??? and "critically" because the positions she holds firmly (as they relate to women), not only affect you, but your daughters and granddaughters. As the saying goes, Don't bite off your nose to spite your face," and please don't think your are hurting Senator Obama by not giving him your vote, because at the end of the day, he is still going to make history and very comfortable living for himself. Whether he wins or looses, he will be able to write his own ticket following the general election. Neither age and war hero status or boobs are going to pay ANY our bills! For me, I don't care if the presidential candidate is "purple" -- what matters most to me, and should matter to everyone else, is which candidate is most likely to implement leadership and direction that will improve the livelihood of me and my family (i.e., reduce taxes, make college more affordable, preserve social security so I can retire some day, keep America safe, restore America's standing in the world, etc.). In other words, this election IS about the 'ISSUES." Wake up folks and use your heads!!!!

McCain and the Republican Party are always touting the "Surge" & "Victory" and I for one am very Glad Patraeus made this statement...

Because it Dispells this Republican "Victory" Bull-Spit !!!

General David Petraeus will leave his post as commander of US troops in Iraq, taking over US Central Command. As the chief of Central Command, the four-star general will oversee the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

This week, General Petraeus discussed progress in Iraq and the possibility of victory. Check out these highlights from his interview with BBC, which airs tonight.

On whether US troops could withdraw from Iraq by the middle of next year: It's "doable."

On whether he will ever declare victory in Iraq:

"This is not the sort of struggle where you take a hill, plant the flag, and go home to a victory parade . . . it's not war with a simple slogan."

On his new role of overseeing Afghanistan at US Central Command: "The trends in Afghanistan have not gone in the right direction . . . and that had to be addressed." Afghanistan remains a "hugely important endeavor."

On progress made by the surge: Petraeus said that recent security gains were "not irreversible" and that the US still faced a "long struggle."

Provincial elections supposed to take place this year, but still waiting on parliamentary approval, will test stability in Iraq. If the Iraq war doesn't lend itself to the traditional notion of victory, how will the USA know when it time to leave ?

It's a miracle that any Democrat has a chance! The Republicans have their own television network known as The Fox News Network! Fox has the audacity to say that they are fair and balanced. PLEASE! They are biased beyond words. The SPIN starts there! Fox beats up the Dems and hug the Repubs.

OUr country is going in the wrong direction. Maybe Fema will get things right this time after the hurricanes in Texas, but I am not holding my breath. Obama needs to let the undecided Americans know who he truly is. Personally this whole muslim rumor is totally racist and in my book most muslim's are not bad people and because Obama's middle name happens to be Hussein, the far right in America will use this against him. It is human nature I think to focus on opponents weaknesses; of course liberals will focus on Sarah Palin's pregnant Teenage daughter and in 2000, there were rumors about Bush's possible cocaine habit. What we need to focus on is the issues, and how many of you feel better than you did 8 years ago? Is our nation going in the right direction? I think the candidate who changes his mind the least in this campaign will win. America doesn't like flip floppers.
