Is there anyone on this post that can remember Ronald Regan's comment during one of his Presidential debates? When asked about the problem of race when he was younger, he said, "THE COUNTRY DID'T KNOW IT HAD A RACE PROBLEM." He should have said, "I didn't notice that the country had a race problem." You can be sure that the people who had the problem, knew it. Just as the females know there is currently a gender problem. And ladies, remember, the next president get to appoint Supreme Court Justices who serve for LIFE. Antonin Scalia, Clarence Thomas, Samuel A Alito, Jr, and Chief Justice John Roberts are hard core republican appointees, who have been consistently anti-woman in their appointments. With a chance of Republican input, who knows when the sky will fall?

moku , i gotta tell ya, how i view abortion is like how most americans view it. think its totally wrong but who are we to dictate to a woman on what is acceptal with her own body? after all a womans body is her say , not the countrys say.

I oppose abortion in its entirety. But in the name of Jesus Christ, I just cannot dictate the inside organs of a woman when the baby has not yet come into the world. To legislatively control a woman's intimate parts (men can feel free to oppose abortion because they don't get pregnant; if men can get pregnant, for the life of me, I know our politicians, mostly domianted by men, will never allow opposition of abortion to get in their way) or religiously impose one's beliefs in order to forcefully dictate a woman's body is not the least human thing in a democratic world. Democracy and anti-abortion cannot coexist.

McCain and the Republican Party are always touting the "Surge" & "Victory" and I for one am very Glad Patraeus made this statement...

Because it Dispells this Republican "Victory" Bull-Spit !!!

General David Petraeus will leave his post as commander of US troops in Iraq, taking over US Central Command. As the chief of Central Command, the four-star general will oversee the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

This week, General Petraeus discussed progress in Iraq and the possibility of victory. Check out these highlights from his interview with BBC, which airs tonight.

On whether US troops could withdraw from Iraq by the middle of next year: It's "doable."

On whether he will ever declare victory in Iraq:

"This is not the sort of struggle where you take a hill, plant the flag, and go home to a victory parade . . . it's not war with a simple slogan."

On his new role of overseeing Afghanistan at US Central Command: "The trends in Afghanistan have not gone in the right direction . . . and that had to be addressed." Afghanistan remains a "hugely important endeavor."

On progress made by the surge: Petraeus said that recent security gains were "not irreversible" and that the US still faced a "long struggle."

Provincial elections supposed to take place this year, but still waiting on parliamentary approval, will test stability in Iraq. If the Iraq war doesn't lend itself to the traditional notion of victory, how will the US know when it's time to leave?

Being anti-abortion should not be synonymous to being against women's rights. The anti-abortion stance is about supporting the life of the child. Its ironic that many in our country are choosing a life-style of being vegetarians for ethical reasons (myself included), yet the killing of a human life (in the stage of life where we all once were, and without, you and I would not be reading this) has been made legal.

Sarah Palin's latest adoring audience- 1400 women protesters in Anchorage AK who help up signs-SARAH PALIN- BRIDGE TO DECEPTION. Oh yeah. Palin's luster has tarnished.

If voters prefer the Republican Party's brand of less government control, then:
1. We will have more corporate and other monopolies, and we will be consumers at their mercy.
2. Our safety and security will be threatened (such as weak govenment equals a corporate America far more interested in profit at the expenses of consumer lives).
3. Our government will be far less capable of blocking the outsourcing of thousands of jobs and will create mroe trade agreements that pushes America's trade deficit soaring to all time highs with little or no controls to protect American workers.
4. The Republican Party and its supporters are pro-business and has an entitlement cost-cutting mentality but a mentality on spending billions on foreign projects and wars at American taxpayer money.
5. Almost all Republican leaders (presidents, governors) campaigned on fiscal responsibility, but once in office they spend loosely (see Palin's "ridge to Nowhere" and her millions in earmarks, despite her persistence in claiming she said "thanks but no thanks"), and Bush has increased, not decreased, America's spending (particularly on unnecessary military, foreign reconstruction project that get paid for unfinished projects, etc), and he tries to belatedly claim fiscal responsibility just in time for the GOP to lie its way to power.
6. While the GOP lieks to spend on wasteful reconstruction projects in foreign lands, cut taxes that appear to benefit mostly the upper class and businesses (the last thing we would expect mortgage giants lke Fannie Mac and Freddgie Mac to be collapse is when billions in tax cuts have been given away to corporations that lay off thousands of jobs every months).
7. During Bush's presidency, the GOP's main concerns appeared to be pleasing its conervative base in order to retain its support so that the party retains power, and the GOP did this in ways our Founding Fathers might not have approved of government (the Terri Schiavo case in which government intervened in the private affairs of the family despite the GOP's principle of limited government) the numerous sex scandals involving Republicans (see Craig and the L.A Republican as well as the Congressional page scandal in which a Republican attempted to have an intimate relationship with pages), etc. Of courses, Democrats had their share of scandals, as well, but mostly on state government level when sex scandal is concerned (I would have preferred William Jefferson of LA to be punished, even though the FBI went too far than it was authorized.
So, what does the GOP stand for? If they are for fiscal responsibility, that is not what we are seeing (see Palin and Bush). What else? Limited governme? (Again, see Bush's wiretapping and other acts of privacy intrusion in our private lives; if he wanted to protect America, he should have started the war here in America and fortified our borders and strengthened our defenses).

McCain and Pali wil be out and about agin stumping in several sates, oh and by the way McCain keeps talking about tow halls but this week wiil be the irst time he has done so since August 20th, Palin will also be out in some states such as Colorado alone.. But guess what speehes only no media qestons no questions from GEE the people of the whom will or wi not be voting them into office.

Now logic which we all know this campaign defies logic tells me that people want answes and all I have seen as I watch all the news channle from the "liberals" to the "conservatve leaning ones is the same regurgitated stuff from the conention. No specics, no plans, no idesas,

I am a registered independent... But as put out there so clearly ENOUGH... Thsi is our country and future are we willing to vote for people who do not tell us the truth or even refuse to talk to us directly. The last time I checked this was a Democracy, not that you can tell right now. Fear is powerful and has ben used to manipulate many...

People vote with your heads or are country will be the most likely worse off than most of us have ever experienced, perhaps since the depression of 1929. Do we need to sink that low before we make the changes that are needed, it amy be to late for many Americans by than. Complacency can and will harm us.
