Before you go any further Mr. Fir Tax hear this I lost a good friend in Manhattan on 9/11, I also was wodrking in a school district that day just east of Shanksville when flight 93 came crashe and our school was on lockdown with terrifoied CHILDREN...

How does the Irag war equate to that day, Bin laden is still hiding out in the hills of Afghanistan and for your info OBAMA wants to increase the troops but obviously he there but our resources are so tapped we cant.

As for the hood maybe you need to look at the racism intermixed al over your comment. There is no cpompariosion between the KKK David Duke and Obama only in your mind.

Does McCain really want to unite when all he and Palin can say is fight fight fight just about anywehere and and about anyone is that always the solution

Anhiilation of all the people of the world.

Sarah Palin forced rape victms of Wasilla Ak. to pay for their rape kit. Rape kits range anywhere from a few hundred to a thousand dollars. How many rape victims can a small town of 5000 residents actually have.. one a year? Has she ever been raped? She does not care about women..only about herself..she only wants to be president. This woman is bad news to all women.

    Obama/Biden 08!

    • Posted By: jimbo3800 @ 09/13/2008 10:17:46 PM

Pia, you are dead-wrong about this story. She hired a police chief that billed the insurance companies of the victims for the rape kits; never the rape victims themselves. It was done because Wasilla is a small town with a small budget.

Infering from this that Sara Palin doesn't care about rape victims is yet another left-wing smear against Palin; and it is NOT TRUE.

Palin 'believes' that females who are victims of rape or incest and become pregnant as a result can get on with it and have the baby. No abortions allowed.

You heard it, folks: Palin's Taliban-inspired loopy interpretation of Christianity.

Palin makes a big deal about being 'pro life' but loves to slaughter beautiful wildlife. Fair warning, McCain.

Given Newsweak's history with intentionally distorted polls, if they claim the race is even then it must mean that McCain/Palin are up by 10-15 points

    • Posted By: Donna1000 @ 09/13/2008 10:54:39 AM

I don't think anyone takes Newsweek seriously any more, do they? I read here to get the opinion of the left and I read other places to get the opinion of the right. Funny, for the first time in my life, I find myself agreeing with the writers on the right.

As to your point, Jimbo, about the Newsweek "poll," my first thought was, "Newsweek says they are even, that means that McCain/Palin is definitely ahead."

I am sick of this election already and the election cannot come fast enough . They need to shorten the whole process and I am especially sick of the crap coming from the McCain campaign and it is turning people off, all of it. Stick to the issues we all know their tactics.. I want to know what you will do for middleclass America...Also the media might want to spend some time with the Bushes and see how their administration has bloodied our relationship with Russia..The media in this country has tunnel vision....while this election is going on....other things in this world are playing out and need to be covered...

    • Posted By: McCainwillwin @ 09/13/2008 12:39:56 PM

I can understand why the election can't come fast enough for you. Everyday that passes, Barack Hussein Obama falls further in the polls. If the election were today, it would be a close election, but come November, it's going to be a McCain landslide!

      • Posted By: jwild @ 09/13/2008 12:51:27 PM

McCain will fall over dead in the whitehouse the first year he's in there and I don't think your girl Palin is equiped to take on the Russians and lacks any knowledge of foreign policy etc the list of mental capacity and judgement to make foreign policy decisions . She is a carbon copy of what we already have in the Whitehouse

        • Posted By: McCainwillwin @ 09/13/2008 1:02:21 PM

And what makes you think Barack Hussein Obama is equipped to take on the Russians??? He couldn't even stand up to nancy pelosi when he caved to her over his VP selection.
Face it, Liberalism = LOSER when it comes to presidential elections and Barack Hussein Obama will be no exception.

As a woman, it is incredible that a woman would vote for the McCain ticket just because he chose a woman as his running mate. I plead with other women-Choose based on whose positions you agree with and by who is qualified- Not by sex! Palin is not qualified to be VP and even less qualified to be President. We do not need another leader who does not understand the incredible complexity of the world we live in. We have had 8 years of that and it has resulted in economic and political disaster. Palin clearly showed that she does not in her interview with Charles Gibson.

And Mr. O'bama's "above my pay grade" response shows him to be the right person for the position of President of the United States - let alone Vice President? Your candidate has less experience then the Republican nominee for Vic-President yet you choose to support the least qualified candidate?

Palin knows life begins sometimes before mommy and daddy are married. Sarah married Todd Palin on August 29, 1988 and had a bouncing baby boy on April 20, 1989.

Goody 2-Shoes is embarrassed about it so she decided to subtract a year from her 19-yr-old son Track's true age at the Republican National Convention and introduce him as "Our 18-yr-old son Track" ... (leaving for Iraq on Sept. 11th)

I observe that most Repub's are very sure that their world view (i.e. set of beliefs) is the only one that could possibly have any validity. Naturally, it is difficult for such people to understand when someone else professes not to have all the answers for certain kinds of questions. When Obama said it "is above my pay grade" in response to question of when life truly begins, it is quite possible that he was really expressing humility and expressing that he knows he doesn't have all the answers.

If McCain should be elected and he dies in office, Palin will have us in a religious war with Russia. We will win this war but losses on both sides with be in the tens of millions and the world will never be the same. This woman is dangerous, arrogant and a religious zealot.

Zogby: McCain Surges in Electoral Votes

    Saturday, September 13, 2008 3:23 PM

    Article Font Size

An Electoral College tidal wave has followed the surge of interest in the rejuvenated Republican presidential ticket of John McCain and Sarah Palin, nearly erasing a once-daunting Democratic advantage and creating a race for the White House that is nearly dead-level even.

The latest Zogby Interactive polling in 11 key battleground states, and a further analysis of polling in other states, has resulted in the recalibration of the Zogby Electoral College Map, available at www.zogby.com.

In this latest Zogby calculation, Obama/Biden lead the race with a projected 234 Electoral College votes in 18 states and the District of Columbia, compared with 226 votes from 25 states for the McCain/Palin ticket. Another 78 Electoral College votes from seven states remain up for grabs, the latest Zogby analysis shows.

See the Zogby map online to get Pollster John Zogby's state-by-state commentary on this latest polling.

Obama keeps saying that he wants to get away from personal attack politics and other distractions from the real issues but here we go again with a whole new round of Palin attacks. Every time Obama or one of his supporters attacks her, he loses tens of thousands of votes. McCain must love this. All he has to do is sit back while Obama rants and raves over Palin's popularity. Obama and his people need to shut up on Palin get back to his message. Put her back on page three and not on the front page headline of every publication and every evening broadcast. If this continues to be an Obama versus Palin campaign, Obama loses. This is getting painful to watch. Will someone get this guy back on course? It's starting to look like he is throwing a temper tantrum because they dared to pick a woman -- something he chose not to do. What???s most disturbing is the fact that Obama is losing ground in every single battle ground state. This election should have been a slam dunk but now we are headed to an unnecessary photo finish. They picked a woman and you didn???t. Get over it and get back on "YOUR" message!

    • Posted By: danic @ 09/13/2008 10:14:48 PM

First of all I laugh at the attacks comment! All of the McCain commericials are attacks! Second, when you choose one you choose the other! (Kind of like in-laws!) Comparing Obama and Palin or McCain and Biden ..... whatever! Third McCain choose Palin to TRY to get to the top, but does he intend to really rely on her and use her and her experience? I don't think so! He must think he is going to live as long as his mother has!

The pre-convention polls probably measured the opinions of the chattering classes more than the entire electorate. Now that summer is over, and voting starts in some states as early as this month and ends on the first Tuesday in November, likely voters are paying attention.

They see a Democratic candidate who talks change but blows off the opportunity to forge a truly historic ticket and two Republican candidates with demonstrated records of independent thinking.

I look at the two tickets and see a candidate named Barack Obama who wants to be in the White House, but hangs out with a guy who wanted to blow up the U.S. Capitol building, and a candidate named John McCain who was willing to risk his life to serve his country for 22 years. I have to think, based on behavioral observations -- not empty rhetoric, that McCain has a deeper commitment to the U.S., and better intentions for it, than Obama does.

    • Posted By: NeoconsareFascists @ 09/13/2008 8:18:15 PM

"They see a Democratic candidate who talks change but blows off the opportunity to forge a truly historic ticket "

That's because Obama chose the VP candidate that he thought was best for the job, rather than just who was going to get him elected, unlike your buddy McBush. As for your "independent thinkers", they both often sound suspiciously like Karl Rove...

      • Posted By: Donna1000 @ 09/13/2008 10:11:12 PM

    • Posted By: Rose Black @ 09/13/2008 1:56:41 PM

I love the way everyone has conveniently forgotten how Todd Palin belonged to a secessionist group in Alaska! You Republicans have the ability to absolutely ignore facts or truths if it doesn't fit in your overall scheme of things, don't you? You simpletons think that this is a personality contest instead of a real debate about the future of our country. Please stop and think about the choices that you are making. You are the same airheads that voted for Bush. Is life really better after 4 more years of him? I don't think so. Anyone would be better than voting another Republican into the White House.

      • Posted By: Donna1000 @ 09/13/2008 3:13:11 PM

The West has long held the image of Cascadia, a new nation that would be comprised of Washington, Oregon, and California. It would have one of the largest economies in the world. I'm not surprised to hear that Alaskans also think of secession. It's not that people in the West and Alaska aren't proud of their country, it's that they get tired of shipping their taxes to an out-of-touch government and civil servants in the East. I'm happy to see a western ticket and think it speaks to my needs more than a guy from the Chicago Machine and Delaware do.

Biden is one of the top subject matters experts in foreign policy in the country. Hillary had a few years more in Congress than Obama. Obama was brilliant in chosing Biden, as this move protects the Democrats from a last minute effort from Bush/Cheney to provoke a military action to turn the election to McCain. Hillary wouldn't have had this reassuring presence for those who are easily scared. Keep in mind that Rove, Bush, Cheney, may all face criminal charges after they leave office. There is no way that they want to see a Democrat win the White House. They want to know that there will be a GOP president who will issue pardons if needed. They will do anything to get McCain elected, including provoking international events. Obama got the strongest, most electible foreign policy leader on his ticket and completely neutralized this risk. Also, this election is all about media coverage and the newscycles. The Republicans could have taken all of the Clinton's issues of the past and reintroduced them. Obama would spend all of his airtime defending his running mate, and would get blown out of the election. Obama didn't hit Hillary hard in the primary, as he knew he would need Bill's support. Repulicans would go after Bill and Hillary, and Obama's message would be an secondary issue. Think about it, if Hillary was really the best option, no way Republicans would have been encouraging it so much. They know that should would unify the Republican party and turn off the Ind. voters.

Get a load of this. Radio commentator Mario Moreno citing reliable sources said that Obama and Biden met secretely this morning in Toledo Ohio and that Obama had asked Biden to step down. According to Mr. Moreno, Biden became furious, left the room, but returned minutes later. He asked Obama how he could resign and still save face. Mr. Obama suggested that Mr. Biden feign and illness. Mr. Biden stood up and for a moment appeared lost in thought. He asked who would take his place. Mr. Obama said Hillary. The air became very tense. Mr. Biden said he needed time to think about it. Stay tuned.

No offense to our military, but when it comes to first hand knowledge on war (whether you served or not) are county and the saftey of others come first! I am not saying kiss ass to avoid war I am just saying choose your battles! I have been told that for years and I tell it to my kids! Why not the president!

Exactly, is not the president of the United States suppose to be somewhat of a role model for the youth of this great country? P.O.W. P.O.W. P.O.W. How many other pow's were held in Viet Nam, under the same circumstances, while their wives were home raising their children as McCain's first wife was? How many went home and found their wives a little fatter, and crippled from an accident , then dumped them for a much younger, rich barbie doll? Honor? 'fraid not McPain. How can you teach values and morals when you have none of your own. You're a slime. I would have expected nothing less for your veep pick. She can't run her own family, let alone the responsibility of vice president. Where was she when her 17 year old daughter was sthupping her boyfriend? Furthering her carreer? Speaking at a pta meeting? Field dressing a moose? You can't have it both ways, as far as women have come in the past 40 years, we are still the driving force for our children. It is our responsibility to teach them the right choices, she is a miserable failure at that. By shoving her abstinance only birth control down her daughters throat, she has altered her life forever. Shame on you Sara. You didn't even give her the opportunity to make a choice, Abstinance for birth control...the catholic priests don't even follow that one. But oh yeah, they are forgiven too.....just sent to another parrish. Get a part time job and raise the rest of your children before you abandon them as you did your daughter. It's not all about you.
