Im sorry but these polls are all biased. Do inner city poor or people who live in Rural areas have access to these polls? Umm..No. These polls are irrelevant since many of the hard working people of America are not included. Stop asking White people who they are going to vote for and go to places like New Orleans were most people were forgotten after Katrina and ask them who they are going to vote for...

Another is does it make sense to have the government redistribute wealth??? Thought that was the job of the free American.

How about reading your own factcheck. According to that, she thought creationism should be debated in school, but did not think it should be added to the curriculum. The only reason I know that is because I checked it out on the Newsweek website.

So, white women could cause McCain to get into the white house. Hmmm....

  • Posted By: FAIR TAX gvt money monthly for all @ 09/13/2008 8:28:01 PM

nah,,,,,,,,Obama chose Biden cause he's not Hillary and Biden has the foreign policy experience OBAMA does not. Bidens choice was/is to shore up Obama's percieved weakness on foreign policy, Which, after seeing his judgement , his (Obamas') naivete and inexperience in foreign relations its obvious and accurate to see that Obama passed on the opportunity to forge a truly historic ticket

Comment: Why does Barack Hussein Obama AND his supporters want to make this election about ethnicity??? He's HALF white and HALF black. Why does everyone insist that he's black? Why should Barack Hussein Obama and his supporters think his skin color matters??? I don't like him because he's a scum sucking liberal. It has nothing to do with the fact that he's half white.

    -------------------------------------------

I'm an Obama supporter, abd I'm black, but I like his policies. He just happens to be of mixed color. Don't presume to think everyone who's black thinks like this. Besides, two other things: I most certainly would've voted for Hillary, and heck, I've voted for candidates who've happened to have been white for YEARS.

    • Posted By: McCainwillwin @ 09/13/2008 3:13:55 PM

Thank you for your perspective. I'm glad to see that he has at least one supporter who believes his policies are more important than his skin color.

since 93% of the blacks in this country are voting for Obama, do you really think they all are voting for him because of his politics.....or are they voting for a DIFFERENT reason ?

I've mentioned this Horribly Distorted little [Town] Wasilla, which is not a [City] at all, but a [Town] Wasilla, 3 Weeks ago...

Those People are Rural, Mountainous, Frontiersmen & Women Types...

Hell, Palin's Ex-Brother In Law, Wooten has been Married [4 Times] and he's only [35 Yrs Old] which is Very Common Behavior for this Type of the Rural, Southern, Appalaichian, Upper Northern, Mountainous, Frontiersman Types !!!

This is Prevalent in Alaska and in the 48 States, that Newsweek and other Publications, tend to Overlook or simply not Cover, until Now !!!

I mean [Southern an Rural-Appalaician Behavior]

You know, Alaska is Really, Really Red, Trailer Tractor, Frozen Tundra Frontiers Men & Women, Club Toting, Raw Meat Eating,

"Hit Her on the Head with a Club Men", then Drag her Home for "You Know What Men" !!!

If you know what I mean... And All that Comes along with it !!!

ABC News: Brian Ross stated Facts on Alaska . #1 in Men Killing Women or their Wives and Domestic Violence #2 in Rapes per capita and in the Nation, Child Abuse and Drug Addiction is also Rampant [Meth-Crystal Meth and Heroin] and you can bet your House and Your Life... Incest is Prevalent also !!
    -----------------------------

NewsWeek: But barely anything like that exists in Wasilla.

You certainly can have a great time swigging beer in two bars that are allowed to stay open until 5 a.m. It was Mayor Palin who rejected attempts to make them close earlier. (If Palin had completely had her way, in fact, you could have sidled up to the bar with a gun.)

At the Mug-Shot Saloon, you can memorize the expletives on the collection of bumper stickers next to the well of bottles. But once you leave, you might want to watch your back:

In a state that is consistently in the top 10 of the Nation's Most Violent Per Capita, Wasilla has among the Highest Per Capita Violent- and Property-Crime Rates in Alaska.

I really hope this country isn't foooled by the Republicans lies and distortions of this election. The only reason why the McCain campaign is now tied with Obama is because he is letting Sarah Palin lead. I mean it's a nice move to have her generate the spotlight on the campaign but soon that bubble will burst. Then what will McCain do? Probably do the same thing he is doing now jumping in and protecting Sarah Palin and trying to make more lies about Obama. As a woman it is offensive to see McCain make such a big stink over the lipstick comment when McCain himself has used it towards Hillary Clinton. Also the American people can't afford McCains tax cuts so more then likely he will be just like Bush Senior and raise our taxes. McCain claiming he's a maverick that makes me laugh. He has bent his views so far to the right for this election he no longer can carry that status. As for Palin she too is not a maverick. She panders just like McCain and can't even be truthful about her mistakes. The polls will change and favor Obama just wait and see!!!

Oh and OMaar,,,,,,,,Greenspan: No McCain Tax Cuts Without Reduction

    Saturday, September 13, 2008 7:24 PM

    Article Font Size

Alan Greenspan says the country can't afford tax cuts of the magnitude proposed by Republican presidential contender John McCain ??? at least not without a corresponding reduction in government spending.

"Unless we cut spending, no," the former Federal Reserve chairman said Friday when asked about McCain's proposed tax cuts, pegged in some estimates at $3.3 trillion.

"I'm not in favor of financing tax cuts with borrowed money," Greenspan said during an interview with Bloomberg Television. "I always have tied tax cuts to spending."

McCain has said that he would offset his proposed cuts ??? including reducing the corporate tax rate and eliminating the Alternative Minimum Tax that has plagued middle-class families ??? by ending congressional pork-barrel spending, unnecessary government programs and overhauling entitlement programs such as Medicare and Social Security.

See the part about spending cuts Omaar,,,,,,,,seems like you are shaving the story and the truth to make a liar outta McCain,,,,,,,,,,"If you do nothing on the spending side, you're going to have to raise taxes whether you're a Republican, a Democrat or a Martian," he tells Miller...and then he immediately makes it clear that the "spending side" part of the argument is nothing more than a political fig-leaf.

An open letter to America from one of the many Ex-Patriots.

As one of the many growing numbers of Ex-Patriots we look back to our country of origin and weigh in on the heated battle now taking place during this campaign season. In amazement we shake our heads at what was last week???s biggest issue ???LIPSTICK ON A PIG???. Man, you have got to be kidding me!

Do you people realize what is going on? Within the last several days Bolivia and Venezuela expelling US ambassadors, in turn US expelling Venezuela???s, Russia military training missions in Venezuela. Several of us were together watching Sarah Palin???s interview it left us shaking our heads. Her statement on admitting Georgia and Ukran to Nato was kind of misleading and merely a talking point because although Georgia is eager to join, it is the Ukran government flying solo on its desire to join Nato, being in April, 62% of Ukranians voted against joining Nato. I will not say anything personal against the lady but just to say her comment about being able to see Russia kind of gives her foreign experience, the media over in Europe had a field day with it. She seems capable for a scale of governing a place such as Alaska, but compared to Joe Biden she is light years away of taking on the duties of VP.

The world is watching hoping you guys get it right this time.

HEY OMaar,,,,,,,,, Zogby: McCain Surges in Electoral Votes

An Electoral College tidal wave has followed the surge of interest in the rejuvenated Republican presidential ticket of John McCain and Sarah Palin, nearly erasing a once-daunting Democratic advantage and creating a race for the White House that is nearly dead-level even.

The latest Zogby Interactive polling in 11 key battleground states, and a further analysis of polling in other states, has resulted in the recalibration of the Zogby Electoral College Map, available at www.zogby.com.

In this latest Zogby calculation, Obama/Biden lead the race with a projected 234 Electoral College votes in 18 states and the District of Columbia, compared with 226 votes from 25 states for the McCain/Palin ticket. Another 78 Electoral College votes from seven states remain up for grabs, the latest Zogby analysis shows.

See the Zogby map online to get Pollster John Zogby's state-by-state commentary on this latest polling.

McCain Top Economic Adviser: He Will Raise Taxes

"Whether you're a Republican, Democrat President or a Martian, Taxes will be Raised"

Though Mccain has said Throughout his campaign "I will Not, Raise Your Taxes"

His Top Economic Adviser says that a LIE....Obama will Raise Taxes on those that make More than 250,000...

The under will have a Tax Break and Tax Cut.

Douglas Holtz-Eakin, a former Director of the Congressional Budget Office and current chief McCain economic advisor, is an honest man--which means he's something of a liability on the Straight Talk Express. A few months ago, he admitted to my colleague, Michael Scherer, that Barack Obama's economic plan would reduce taxes for most people. And now, in a forthcoming book by Fortune columnist Matt Miller, he makes it clear that the next President is going to have to raise taxes.

"If you do nothing on the spending side, you're going to have to raise taxes whether you're a Republican, a Democrat or a Martian," he tells Miller...and then he immediately makes it clear that the "spending side" part of the argument is nothing more than a political fig-leaf.

[The Electoral College] Obama [248], [270] is the Majic Number all he needs to do as in the Clinton Campaign, Stay Even or Maintain his Lead and don't Slip up, Obama has a Great Ground Plan...Great !!!

Polls don't mean Squat, The Palin Effect was in Fact Decieving and Charlie Gibson, McCain's Lying Ads and Palin's Lies, as well as YouTube are coming back to Haunt them !!!

Obama is leading in the Electoral College..McCain & Palin had a Short lived "Surge"

I guess Women are not So Gullibleespecially after Palin on [Roe Vs. Wade] !!

CNN) -- Sen. John McCain has inched ahead of Sen. Barack Obama in national polls, but the Democratic candidate holds a steady lead in the most recent Electoral College estimates.

n national surveys, McCain leads by 2 points, 47 percent to 45 percent, according to CNN's poll of polls released Monday night.

In the Electoral College standings, the most recent survey shows 243 electoral votes either safely in Obama's column or leaning his way. At this point, McCain can claim only 189.

Many of the state polls used to determine the Electoral College standings, however, were conducted before the conventions.

Monday marked the first time McCain passed Obama in CNN's poll of polls. Watch how the race has tightened »

On Saturday, Obama was up by 3 in the poll of polls. That lead shrank to just 1 point Sunday before disappearing Monday.

In the most recent survey, 8 percent of respondents said they were still unsure about who they were going to vote for.

The poll of polls is an average of five surveys: CNN (September 5-7), ABC/Washington Post (September 5-7), CBS (September 5-7), Gallup (September 5-7) and Diageo/Hotline (September 5-7). The poll of polls does not have a sampling error.

The CNN/Opinion Research Corp. poll released Monday shows McCain and Obama tied at 48 percent.

The poll, which was conducted Friday through Sunday, carries a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points. It was based on 1,022 telephone interviews.

Republicans are hoping that if McCain can close the popular vote gap, he can also make gains in the electoral gap. The Electoral College will ultimately decide who takes over the White House.

Although polls across the country are open on one day, the election is not a national poll but a series of 51 state-level elections that decide the members of the Electoral College.

Technically, voters aren't choosing a candidate but a slate of electors who have pledged to vote for that candidate when the Electoral College meets.

With 538 electors up for grabs, the candidate with more than half -- 270 -- wins the presidency. The number of electors from each state equals the number of senators and representatives the state sends to Congress

My god will you people quit sqawking about the cell phones. Several polls now even say they are including cell phone users in their surveys. You're just grasping at straws and it's starting to sound desperately pathetic.

to choose a Washington outsider who embodied change, had appeal in the heartland, would highlight his change message, had shown personal loyalty to him and with whom he was comfortable and in synch.

Either Governor Kathleen Sebelius of Kansas or Senator Claire McCaskill of Missouri would have fitted the bill. But Obama, afraid of a Hillary backlash if he chose a less qualified woman, blinked.

Clinton had trumpeted 35 years of experience. So Obama selected Senator Joe Biden of Delaware, who could boast nearly 36 years on Capitol Hill. Biden was acceptable to the Clintons because he'd never taken shots at Mrs Clinton (indeed, he didn't even endorse Obama against her). Even his Scranton roots were something of a nod to the former First Lady.

What Obama hadn't reckoned with was the opportunity he'd be handing McCain. Having calculated correctly that Obama would not choose Clinton, the Arizona senator embarked on what looks in hindsight like a masterful diversionary move. All summer, he dangled boring white guy governors Mitt Romney and Tim Pawlenty as his likely veep picks.

He floated Joe Lieberman, and appears genuinely to have wanted to choose the Connecticut senator before concluding he would have been unacceptable to the Right. But all along, Governor Palin was on his list. The rest were decoys.

Palin's inexperience made her a risk. When Obama went for Biden, however, the pluses were too good to overlook - a play for soft Hillary supporters, an outsider, an embodiment of change, a cementing of the jittery conservative base, a much needed jolt of excitement to McCain's campaign.

The secrecy of McCain's veepstakes process squashed whatever convention bounce Obama might otherwise have enjoyed. Palin neutralized Biden by making him seem a quaint throwback. And Biden, true to form, has already obliged by describing Palin as "good looking" and condemning her selection as a "backward step for women" - innocent comments but easily capable of provoking outrage, both real and synthetic.

Palin's presence on the trail has ensured that Clinton will remain to the fore - a constant reminder to her supporters of what might have been. Fearful of losing women voters, the Obama-Biden ticket is showing deference to the New York senator. Biden's musing that she might have been "more qualified" than him and a "better pick" as Obama's running mate was a gaffe of breathtaking proportions.

It's now obvious that Palin has left Obama badly rattled and his campaign flailing. It must stick in the craw of a man brought up by a single mother, who married a strong woman and adores his two daughters but he stands accused of being sexism not just once but twice.

    • Posted By: Cazador1972 @ 09/13/2008 7:45:49 PM

But now both Obama and McCain are back to being tied. What these numbers are not reflecting is the large amount of young people who are cell-phone carries. Most national polls are conducted by calling land lines, yet the majority of young people do not own one. So there is a large number of the electorate which largely favors Obama who are not being polled.

By the way. check out Page 1 of the New York Times for tomorrow, coming to a newsstand near you.
