    To Johnpolitico:

    What a fool!

No Taxes: no money to enforce plooution lawa, you can feel as you if you are living in smog filled communist china.

No Taxes: no money to keep well maintained hospitals, you can feel as if you are living in communist USSR, where 80% of women used to give birth in home, cos??? they didn???t have equipped maternity wards

No Taxes: Why educate your kids, shut down the schools, you can feel you are living in Afghanistan where they don???t have any industry and their best hope is to grow poppy and make opium

No taxes: to h**l with the roads, lets live like in Africa, no infrastructure and nothing

No taxes: to h**l with police enforcement, lets live like Russia and get overrun with mafia.

If you care, about the place you live, understand one thing, everything, your schools, technological progress, your relative safety, everything is because of taxes. fool!

      Yeah Shawn,

It wasn't long ago that I believed as you do. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for a FAIR TAX system. Problem is ... BO's tax plan is not fair for all. I know .. tax the rich and give to the poor. Right? Typical Dem line. I've heard it for over 64 years now. Trust me; it's like listening to a broken record over & over again every four years. And I'm far from being rich. I live on a very strict retiree budget!!!

Let me put it to you this way young man (assuming you're young of course): When I screw up my finances or can't balance my check book, who comes to save me or bail me out? Or you for Pete sake?!

NO ONE! I'm on my own! And so is my family!! I'm required to provide for me and my family. Right? Someone else here stated it best: There's no such thing as a FREE LUNCH! And I totally agree with that!

Well, the same should be true for our Government. You screw up the books--SHAME ON YOU!. I don't care if a Republican or Democrat's in Office. You guys/gals (Prez/ senate/congress) made a mess of things now clean it up. Tightened up your belt like the rest of us have to and quit asking me (taxpayer) to bail you out!

      BOTTON LINE:

The more you bail people out (incl Gov as a whole), the more they take advantage of you and/or the system. Sorry, but that's reality buddy! Peace!

While there is so much concern about McCains Tax cuts, First of all Greenspan just came out with a statement that said they will not work, Seems they amount to $3 trillion for the wealthy.

At the same time McCain will effectively eliminate both Medicare and Social Security.
But what is interesting is the $3trillion, The reason Social Security is in such trouble is because Reagan deregulated it and allowed the Government to "barrow" the SS funds, needless to say they had to get the money from somewhere for those earmarks, But it is estimated the US Government owes $3.8 trillion.

This piece of crap would let the elderly starve rather than try to make SS work, and he was in the House when Reagan pulled this incredible rip off.

Poor Nobama. He thought he could sashay into the oval office, only to find that many, many Americans are too smart to drink the Kool aid based on his empty words.

Nobama's empty rhetoric has become an unbearable grating upon the common sense core of the public.

There are millions upon millions of "right-wingers" in this country. Furthermore there are plenty of women, including myself, who will vote for McCain because Governor Palin is on the ticket. Picking Palin was the smartest move McCain could ever have made. It will guarantee him the presidency. Obama is sinking in the polls like a lead balloon.

        • Posted By: ayeaga @ 09/13/2008 6:01:22 PM

Joe Biden is the VPOTUS's nominee. You all should be comparing Biden with Palin.
          I wonder why not.

          • Posted By: Tommypie @ 09/13/2008 7:04:40 PM

I'll take Palin before Biden any day. You cannot refute the fact that McCain got a tremendous boost in putting Palin on the ticket. McCain is currently leading in all polls, except one, the NBC poll. I wonder why? What kind of questions did they ask anyway? The more the leftist elite media are picking on Palin, the more votes McCain will get come election time.

Yes John it seems close now but in another month McCain/Palin is gone and it???s not that the cards are stacked against them its because they tried to stack the deck.
It's their own doing, the media is taking them to task for the ads which are so filled with lies it is pathetic.
This country simply cannot handle another lying administration, we deserve better.

Unbelievable! in a period of one week, Obama called Palin a pig and Mccain an old fish. Same week, CNN campbell brown sreamed down a guest demanding he conceed that Palin is inexperience. Same week, the campbell brown show called Palin ignorant. Same week, CNN ran 3 different stories around the clock 24/7 dumpster diving in askaka for dirt while completely ignore or recognize any accomplishments this woman has made. Same week, obama sent 30 investigators to alaska to dig up dirt and perpetruate the troopergate investigation. Same week, a congressional alaska democrat waged a national war to escalate troopergate against palin. Same week, a head democrat female of SC said palin's only qualification is that she has not had an abortion. Same week, Biden claimed that Palin with a disable child is not supporting disable children programs when she actually had triple per/child fed funding from 24k to 74k per child in alaska.

Same week, America got to know possibly the first woman Vp candidate. Not came from a political dynasty, not came from wealth, not came an elitist class or a washington insider. A woman who came from small town, unassumming back ground, hold traditional values and made it to where she is due soly on focus, determination, persistency and her relations to everyday folks. Sarah is the gal you see in walmart, the ones spending lunch with her baby in daycare, the gal who takes her kids to work before work, the woman who wants to do it all and need to do it all and has a mission to do it all. She's me and you. She's too average to be admired by the high rise urban elitist media and too down to earth to be ignored and loved by the main street voters.

Wow, your unfounded statement proves you are shaking in your boots about this woman VP pick. LOL. She did just great in the Gibson interview - especially she was given tough questions that the media never asks Obama.

    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Obama is lowering tax???s as you indicated is a good thing only he's lowering tax' on the working folks, even eliminating tax's on seniors making less than $50,000.
Now thats an idea whose time has come, not just because they supported this country for 40 years or more paying tax's.
But there must be millions of seniors making less than $50,000, a friend who makes just over $40,000 paying $3000 in tax.
If she had no tax the $3000 would be spent as a consumer and given the millions of such people, would by themselves spur the economy, adding jobs to supply the goods and create tax payers to support those wealthy people you are so concerned about.

But while you are worried about the poor mistreated wealthy, I think it is time to worry about the greater number of people in America.

NO TAX FOR THE ELDERLY???..VOTE OBAMA

"PALIN IS HILLARY'S GIFT TO OBAMA"
    By Toby Harnden

    - - - page 1 of 3

Spare us the instant Hillary Clinton nostalgia. Half of the Democratic party seems to have persuaded itself that the former First Lady would have been cruising to an effortless victory by now had primary voters shown the wisdom to select her as their nominee.

Even many of those who remain intensely loyal to Barack Obama are beginning to rue the day he decided not to pick her as his running mate. Clinton and her sisterhood of traveling pantsuits, they fret, would have sewn up the female vote, reassured rural white men and doubled down on this year's election theme of change.

Republicans who spent several years salivating at the prospect of facing a polarizing candidate with more baggage than Heathrow airport, an unfavorability rating hovering around 50 per cent and the persona of the archetypal calculating politician now hail her as a gutsy heroine callously cast aside by Senator Obama.

Of course, most of the new conservative love for Clinton is tactical. By lauding the senator for New York, they undermine Obama and highlight her case - which looks more compelling by the day - that he could not defeat John McCain. The old adage that "the enemy of my enemy is my friend", Republicans calculate, should hold true until November 4th.

We will never know whether Clinton would have beaten Senator McCain, though there are powerful reasons to be skeptical about her camp's conviction that victory would have been a certainty. But while she may not have beaten Obama in the primaries, she may well have sown the seeds for his defeat in 52 days time.

It's not just that Clinton continued to battle for the nomination beyond the point at which her winning became impossible and the major political damage to the Illinois senator became inevitable.

The crucial point is that if it wasn't for Clinton, Sarah Palin - who now could well become America's first female president whether or not McCain wins the White House - would have remained in relative obscurity in Alaska.

The New York senator knew that Obama would never choose her to be his running mate. Even if he'd asked her, she might well have refused. Her looming presence, however, spooked Obama into playing it safe with his vice-presidential pick.

Again and again, Clinton supporters made clear that for him to choose another woman to be on the ticket would cause uproar in Hillaryland. Obama was inclined

The "lipstick on a pig" slip-up was no more intended to be sexist or demeaning than his ill-judged "likeable enough, Hillary" quip in the New Hampshire primary debate. But it illustrated once again the perils of a rookie on the national scene jousting with a female politician who has passionate supporters and is poised to make history.

It's folly, of course, for Obama to be engaging with Palin. It diminishes him by equating him with the number two on the other ticket. And far from neutralizing the question mark over his experience, the discussion of her qualifications has ensured that his thin resume will remain front and center.

Obama should be giving Palin a good ignoring while his campaign hammers away at her record and McCain's linkages to President George W. Bush - not his vetting process (a Beltway preoccupation of no relevance beyond whether it missed anything damaging) or her family.

Clinton has made clear she won't be attacking Palin. And why should she? A McCain-Palin victory would make Clinton the Democratic front runner in 2012. It would vindicate everything she said about Obama during their primary battle.

Palin, and what picking her telegraphed about McCain, could be Obama's nemesis. Hillary Clinton brought us Palin. The Alaska governor is her gift to Obama.

One concern/question on Obama is this.,,,,,,,,,Is he like David Duke with one public face and once the publics gone the hood comes out and goes on??? ,,,meaning does Obama truly want to unite America or after 20 years of "G*#damn America",,, the chickens have come home to roost for the American terrorism of the world,,,," is Obama just parading a public face and once the public is gone the angry african-american Africa first comes out ,,,,,,,,,

Another is does it make sense to have the government redistribute wealth??? Thought that was the job of the free American.

  • Posted By: Perusing-through @ 09/13/2008 6:22:43 PM

Bush was a party animal and at the bottom of his class when he graduated from college. McCain was party animal and 5th from the bottom of his class when he graduated from the Naval Academy. Both are "shoot first, think last" ex-alcoholics.

Why do Americans continue to scrape the bottom of the barrel when considering Presidents. Yet smart, intelligent and thoughtful nominees like Gore, Kerry, and Obama are discarded.

The American intelligence is now called into question.

  • Posted By: Perusing-through @ 09/13/2008 6:21:30 PM

SARAH PALIN CAUGHT IN ANOTHER LIE . . .

News Reporters Peter Hamby and Rebecca Sinderbrand just reported the following:

"Sarah Palin did not visit troops in Iraq, a spokesperson for the Republican VP nominee confirmed Saturday, as new details emerged about the extent of the Alaska governor's foreign travel".

"(In addition) . . . campaign aides confirmed reports that Palin's time in Ireland on that trip had actually been a re-fueling stop" . . . (not for international business transactions as earlier reported).

    - - - - - - -

I AM SO HAPPY WITH THE MAINSTREAN MEDIA . . .

Not because they are digging up dirt, which they are not. (Leave that to the tabloids). But because the media has honorably taken up the responsibility to do the job McCain's organization has purposely and "effectively" left undone.

McCain is the oldest Presidential nominee to run for POTUS, but he has constant bouts with cancer. Extra effort should have been done to ensure the Republican V.P. was thoroughly vetted to be POTUS in case McCain never made it to the swearing in ceremony.

McCAIN'S JUDGMENT AND WISDOM MAKES HIM "NOT QUALIFIED" TO BE COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF. McCAIN HAS PUT POLITICS AHEAD OF THE NATION'S INTEREST. AND NOW McCAIN IS EFFECTIVELY COMPOUNDING BUSH's DISASTER WITH HIS OWN DISASTER.

  • Posted By: JohnPolitico @ 09/13/2008 5:05:49 PM

What scares me most about this Election is the fact that the cards are stacked against McC & Palin. More specifically against the Republican Party. And it doesn't take a genius to figure out why. The letter W comes to mind. Although W doesn't get the credit he deserves for some of the good things he has done (i.e., keep America safe since 9/11), IMHO his bad deeds and/or questionable deeds far outweigh the good. But what bothers me most is the idea (political strategy) of exploiting the Christian Faith for personal gain. Not good. I happen to be Catholic, but I'm a firm believer in keeping Church separate from State.

Actually, I give more credit to local law-enforcement agencies across the nation for preventing further attacks on American soil, than I do Big Gov. I have a lot of family in law-enforcement and they do a damn good job of staying on top of things. God bless 'em! And our military!!

But here's the bottom line regarding this year's electiion: We've been told over & over again by the liberal media---THIS IS THE DEMOCRATS YEAR. The Year the Democrats are to take back the W.H no if, ands or buts.

The truth is it probably would've been a cakewalk (landslide) had Gore run this time around. But noooo! The Democrats are more interested in forcing history down our throat than picking/nominating the most qualified candidate in their party. My guess is that Gore was muscled out of the pic by those powerful C'tons. But I guess we'll never really know will we?

As we all know the popular vote doesn't really count for much--just look back at 2000. Unfortunately for us McC supporters, 2008 is looking more and more like payback time for the shenanigans that W & Co. pulled off in 2000. Sad, but I think it's true. It's all about the Electoral College (State Delegates across the nation). IMHO, there's a lot of pressuring being put on members of the Electorate to vote Democrat no matter what the outcome of the pop vote is come the G.E.

The only real chance that McC's has is if Republicans and Independents (voting 4 McC) come out in record numbers to cast their vote. The numbers need to be lopsided in McC's favor so that the pressure is too-too great for the EC to pull a fast one on us like they did in 2000. 'Cause I'm telling you! If this race is even remotely close, the EC is gonna crown the Dem the winner. Remember it's their Year! The same theory applies had Hill got the Dem Nomination. It's their Year!!

    • Posted By: JohnPolitico @ 09/13/2008 5:08:34 PM

      CARDS STACKED AGAINST MC CAIN/PALIN

McC NEEDS TO WIN THE POPULAR VOTE BY A LANDSLIDE

Otherwise he's doomed. The People of this great nation need to speak loud & clear with their votes.

What bothers me most about this election is the fact that the media and some folks here (hired BO bloggers) are consistently trying to paint or label John as another W. And that couldn't be further from the truth! Why do you think it took so long for the GOP base to get behind McC? And they're still not all onboard! Probably never will because they see McC more as an Independent. A Maverick! The GOP doesn't like to be challenged! They want another W puppet. But McC's is his own man. He does what he thinks or believes in his heart is right--not necessarily what the Party thinks is right. And that's what I respect and like about the man.

In sum, Moderate Republicans and Independents NEED TO UNITE big time this time around. Otherwise! Otherwise we all deserve what we get---SOCIALISM!!!

      • Posted By: JohnPolitico @ 09/13/2008 6:08:18 PM

        SOCIALISM = HIGHER TAXES

SOCIALISM = PUNISH THE HARD-WORKING, SUCCESSFUL, SMALL- BUSINESS OWNER (ETC) & REWARD THE MEDIOCRE WORKER AND/OR LAZY.

In other words, why strive to succeed (via higher education/hard-work) when you know that Big Gov. is gonna step in and tax the crap out of you so as to unfairly redistribute the wealth. Is that fair? Is this the message we want Government sending to our youth?!

The truth is Obama???s so-called comprehensive TAX PLAN is mostly gonna hurt the folks making $250,000 and above. I know, the first thing that pops into mind: NOT ME! DOESN'T AFFECT ME!!! GOOD! STICK IT TO THOSE RICH PEOPLE!

Well, again, you gotta ask yourself a very important question when it comes to the issues (including new taxes): Do I vote "ME" (my family) or do I vote for what I think is right for the nation overall? In other words, vote the BIG PICTURE as I like to put it.

Personally, I vote BIG PIC. But that's me. Just because an Obama tax hike doesn't necessarily hurt or affect me directly (heck, I wish I made that kinda money) doesn't mean I'm willing to screw somebody else over strictly for my benefit. Sorry, I just don't think it's fair.

Just remember this b4 you vote come Nov.: Even when you increase taxes for the "so-called rich" (250K +), the effects of that tax hike ultimately filter down to the middle-class and poor. How? I tell you how ... guess what Big Biz and Small Biz does when their taxes go up?

Yup, Yup you guessed it. Pass the cost onto you the consumer. This is basic economics folks. CareerDayTrader touch on this already. He's right! They raise the cost on all their products to compensate for their higher taxes. And you know what that leads to right? Yup, that ugly little word: INFLATION

HIGHER TAXES = INFLATION (the cost of everything goes up, up and up)

No thank you! Well, I hope this info helps some of you out there when it comes time to cast your vote in Nov. Till next time!

Keep the faith! God Bless America!!!

Barack Obama is an angry black man now that he is not the media's darling, and panic is showing on his face. The McCain/Palin pair of Mavericks are the one's who will bring REAL CHANGE to Washington. McCain has a record of working bipartisan and Sarah Palin has a high approval rating as Governor of Alaska. Sarah Palin also did fine in her interviews and seems to be completely genuine unlike the phony Barack Obama. I'm thinking Obama's numbers are going to decline further. The general election is not a caucus . Obama's lack of experience, ego and arrogance will bring him down. NOBAMA

If the truth were known, Palin and McCain would have only the support of those who wouldn't know the truth if it hit them in the A$$.
What is scary is that is about 35 % of the voters.

I have always been astounded those even todays a significant number of people in this country are so dumb and misinformed they still believe Iraq had something to do with 9/11.

This was a lie perpetrated by the Republican brain wash machine to garner support for the invasion of Iraq, nothing more and nothing less.

But in Palins address on 9/12/08 to departing soldiers bound for Iraq, Palin said they were going to fight the masterminds and perpetrators of 9/11.

Lord help us she is one of the really dump and uninformed,

I am glad to see the media finally step up to the plate on the lies in McCains ads, this country doesn't need to elect another administration that has to lie to the American public to further their agenda.

But even with the lies being exposed 35% of the voters will still go to the polls and vote based on one or more of those lies, and it is these people who keep the polls so very close.

    • Posted By: SEA Observer @ 09/13/2008 4:34:39 PM

Yeah!..... why do you think Obama lies about his past? about his religion?... about his friends & affiliates?

Why do you think he's not way up in the poll? Why do you think McCain is kicking his butt?????.....

Oh, right, because McCain's being lying alot, right?

      • Posted By: ayeaga @ 09/13/2008 5:56:17 PM

Obama does not lie about his past or present or religion. It is only people like you who spread false rumours. You want to vote for McCain, but you have no time to study the issues in this campaign.
