    News flash....

McCain and Palin, in preparation for taking over the White House, will be meeting with foreign head-of-states at the UN this week.

Not to be outdone, Obama will remain in Hollywood an extra day to discuss foreign policy with Barbara Streisand. Streisand, considered foreign expert in her circle of friends, is a fierce foreign labor negotiator and will advise Obama on the finess of negotiation with illegal immigrants. Obama will sit in and observe the monthly salary negotiation between Streisand and her ground maintenance work crew.

    News flash... news flash.....

Obama camp internal polling data indicated that the senator has lost the following battle ground states: Colorado, Florida, Ohio, Pensylvania, and Virginia.

As a results of this data, a scorch earth order has been officially approved by the senator the morning of 9/17.

In an effort to help HolyRoller understand discourse, I offer a simple thought borrowed by Mary Wollstonecraft from an unknown author:

A man convinced against his will is of the same opinion still.

What this means is that whenever you write, you are writing to the conservative republicans who clearly dominate the Newsweek readership. You are not addressing the opposition for whom you hold such low regard. If you were, then your rhetoric would mimic theirs, which is one of the most basic techniques in sales.

For example, if I were to say to you, "John McCain is a klansman...he voted against Martin Luther King Day in Arizona...he's a klansman and a racist...he should go back in time to the 17th century and start up a slave transport shipping company...

    NOBAMA!!"

Then that may get your attention better than facts and figures.

See what I did? I copied your rhetorical style.

If you want to really get the attention of Democrats, especially the "liberals" you hate so much, I highly recommend you switch it up occasionally and write like a normal person, and not a Republican stooge.

    Just a thought.

Not for me, but for you. It's all about you, isn't it?

I replied to Concerned Citizen below and I wanted to make sure everybody saw this. Only because it seems that the neocons on her are pretty vocal about certain things that don't matter and more than willing to swallow what's told to them without thinking, like the fluffy little political sheepies they are. Here goes:

My concerns are with the fact that the policies McCain stands for, when he actually sticks to them, are completely backwards.

He is a creature of political convenience, as is Palin. Disingenuous, both.

Between McCain's self-avowed lack of economic wisdom (funny how politics for J.McCain started after he married into money like a biatch)...

And Palin's incredible assertion that proximity to the Aleutians is comparable to actual foreign policy experience...

WHO NEEDS TO TALK ABOUT SEXISM AND AGISM?

Comment: I love how democrats point the finger of racist at conservatives, but with each left wing post they display their bigotry. With the posts from the left we see their age discrimination, their desire for class warfare and the democrat's sexism. Liberals attack McCain for being too old; you need to be careful there. Senior citizens vote in far greater numbers than any demographic group. Class warfare, tax the rich, the rich are bad people let's bring them down they make too much money anyways (forgetting that they are the people that for the most part are the ones creating the jobs in this country). Gee that sounds soo much like Lenin circa 1915. And my favorite smears from the left, their sexism. Hillary supports just get over it and vote for me, what a lovely sentiment from the Obama camp if you want the women???s vote. And now the sexist attacks on Palin, gee how can she run for office with 5 kids? She has a special needs child she should be at home with that baby. The democrats claim to be the big tent party but I guess you are only allow in if your young, poor and male. No wonder Obama's numbers are dropping like a rock.

Who cares about Palin? She won't touch the White House.

    Let's talk about McCain's latest:

    The strong economy...

Tell that to AIG and Lehman Bros.

Tell that to any any one of the millions who have lost their homes in this lending crisis.

How about the decimated U.S. Treasury?

John McCain isn't responsible for any of these things...

    But...

While Barack Obama would spend more and raise certain taxes to help rebuild America, John McCain would rather borrow more money from the Chinese and give it to Georgia (the country, unfortunately) under the guise of "spreading democracy" when in fact Georgia has a terrible human rights record and -- big surprise -- when Georgia is a client of one of McCain's chief advisers, Randy Scheunemann.

McCain is a dyed-in -the-wool crook and an opportunist the likes of which American hasn't seen since Nixon.

Do we really need more of what we've already got?

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, expecting different results.

If Obama had more substance his VP pick and low approval of the DNC would not be pulling him down in a trend that goes back sevral weeks, to result in this deadlock. knowing the maistreamnews media, this "deadlock will remain covered long after McCain moves ahead significantly.
There will be a trend to supress the news of a McCain lead, for as long as possible.
Then it will be "McCain/Palin lead,BUT...."
The main stream news has no template for OBAMA THE SCREW UP. even AS he screws up!
He can screw up but it will never be referred to as a screw up! Like his pick for VP! like the obsession for moslem philosphy about pigs lips and fish wrapper! Like Obamas failure to give The American a full account of his assosiation with domestic terrorist bill Ayers!

It is now clear that Monegan and Governor Palin didn???t see eye-to-eye on how to run the State of Alaska???s law enforcement agencies. Given that Palin was the boss and Walt Monegan was her subordinate, Monegan got fired. After all, Palin was elected by the citizens of Alaska to make policy decisions including those pertaining to law enforcement. If Monegan wasn???t going to do things Palin???s way what else could Palin do but fire him?

After getting fired, it seems that Monegan glommed onto Palin and her family???s dispute with Trooper Wooten as a way to get back at his boss for firing him. But even there, if Monegan???s claims are correct and Palin did pressure him to fire Wooten and he, Monegan, was fired for refusing to fire Wooten what is Pailn really guilty off? Trying to get a bad cop - with a history of transgressions in his record including drinking beer while driving his patrol car and tasering his own 13-year-old son - fired?

C???mon. This is a non-scandal. Unfortunately, it???s a somewhat complicated non-scandal that represents the only thing the media/left has that???s even mildly negative about Palin so they???re going to try and blow it up into something it isn???t.

First.....The McCain camp has been on the defense.......Second.......Sarah Palin and her Church problems with David Brickner saying that Jews are getting killed because they will not embrace Chrisitanity and that this is God's Judgment...........Her running scared from the Troopergate issue. What can go wrong for the McCain camp.

  • Posted By: Iron Horse @ 09/16/2008 8:47:11 PM

I must add, McCain did refer to Hillary Clinton's health care as nothing but a "lipstick on a pig". Obama didn't attack Palin with that phrase, but instead directed his attack on McCain. Call that sexism... Well, conservatives apply definitions of sexism in ways they feel comfortable with, demonstrating their double standard.

    • Posted By: neocon @ 09/16/2008 10:53:45 PM

I would have to agree with you that he wasn't attacking Palin. That being said he still shouldn't of said it. But, the perception of the crowd at the time was that he was and that was his mistake. It was a gaffe on his part and he knew it but didn't know how to back out.

Senators Obama and Biden bring excitement to this election. The Democratic Team's plans to overhaul the economy and change the cycle of greed and corruption of Corporate America (which infiltrates nearly every aspect of the average American family) is going to be a major undertaking for our next President. I prefer Obama's progressive grass-roots approach over someone who has been such a permanent fixture in Washington and deals with economic and foreign policy issues REACTIVELY, rather than proactively plan for our nation's future. Senator Barack Obama recognized the mistakes of the Bush administration with regards to the Iraq War, and also the economic crises our country has faced and has been promoting his economic reform plans for months now. Obama has identified with the struggles of America's middle-class families, and has never lost focus on that, despite all of the outlandish ads put out by McCain the Maverick. Can you imagine what would happen if the Republicans had succeeded in privatizing Social Security, and our stock markets sunk? There'd be a lot of Angry Old Men out there, white, black ,and brown!

Where has McCain stood these past 8 years? That is the question voters will answer on Nov 4th !

      Hey greatmidwest,

Re: "Obama has identified with the struggles of America's middle-class families, and has never lost focus on that ..."

Do ya know that Obama considers the Middle-Class as those folks making less than:

      Single:

      $32,550 - Wow! A whoppin' 32K per year!

      Married:

      $65,100 per year

So if you're single or married and make more than that ... well ... guess what?

Obama considers you rich. Yup, congrats, you're in the TOP 5% TAX BRACLET!*

*The top fifth of all households, your effective federal tax rate is 25%.

How does it feel to be rich? Lol! Sorry Charlie, so much for all those tax breaks for the middle-class huh?

I don't know what state you live in, but where I live, making 32 K year is not rich!!!

    5. Soreloserstration

Liberals attack McCain for being too old; you need to be careful there. Senior citizens

Obama's numbers are dropping like a rock.
    -------------
You need to list your "accusations" in numbers so that we can easily sort out and respond more quickly.
    1. Can you provide any evidence of sexism against Hillary, other tan attac by anyone not associated to Obama on her experience claims and mocking of Obama? In oter words, fair and balanced vetting of all candidates constitutes sexism?
    2. Obama attacked McCain's age in an ad for the first time because McCain went so far as to try to link Obama with sex education of small kids, which is a total distortion of his legislative record. And there are several GOPers I can remember who said cCain was too old to be a president.
    3. No, the Democratic Party oes no exclude anyone based on age, race, sex, religion, etc. Becuse if they do, we won't be seeing a Republican Party that is almost uniformly white and only had its first woman VP this year, but only more as a gamble by mcCain than a genuine interest in promoting women to national political office (after all, women's rights were advanced by Democratic presidents who signed legislation -- LBB, John F. Kennedy, Bill Clinton -- and who also helped usher in a new era of civil rights for all).
That answers your questions pretty much.

Iron Horse, how could this be?
A watchdog group called LegiStorm posts online the salaries for Capitol Hill staffers. "We have no political affiliations and no political purpose except to make the workings of Congress as transparent as possible," its website explains. Parsing LegiStorm's official data, gleaned from the Secretary of the Senate, offers a fascinating glimpse at pay equity in the World's Greatest Deliberative Body.
The most recent statistics are for the half-year from Oct. 1, 2007 to March 31, 2008, excluding interns and focusing on full-time personnel. For someone who worked only until, say, last Feb. 29, extrapolating up to six months' service simplifies this analysis. Doubling these half-year figures illustrates how a year's worth of Senate employees' paychecks should look.
Based on these calculations, Obama's 28 male staffers divided among themselves total payroll expenditures of $1,523,120. Thus, Obama's average male employee earned $54,397.
Obama's 30 female employees split $1,354,580 among themselves, or $45,152, on average.
Why this disparity? One reason may be the under-representation of women in Obama's highest-compensated ranks. Among Obama's five best-paid advisors, only one was a woman. Among his top 20, seven were women.
Again, on average, Obama's female staffers earn just 83 cents for every dollar his male staffers make. This figure certainly exceeds the 77-cent threshold that Obama's campaign website condemns. However, 83 cents do not equal $1. In spite of this 17-cent gap between Obama's rhetoric and reality, he chose to chide GOP presidential contender John McCain on this issue.
Obama responded Aug. 31 to Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's Republican vice-presidential nomination. Palin "seems like a very engaging person," Obama told voters in Toledo, Ohio. "But I've got to say, she's opposed -- like John McCain is -- to equal pay for equal work. That doesn't make much sense to me."
Obama's criticism notwithstanding, McCain's payment patterns are the stuff of feminist dreams.
McCain's 17 male staffers split $916,914, thus averaging $53,936. His 25 female employees divided $1,396,958 and averaged $55,878.
On average, according to these data, women in John McCain's office make $1.04 for every dollar a man makes. In fact, all other things being equal, a typical female staffer could earn 21 cents more per dollar paid to her male counterpart -- while adding $10,726 to her annual income -- by leaving Barack Obama's office and going to work for John McCain.
