Newsweek continues to ask the wrong questions, of the wrong candidates . . . a police chief in Walissa???? Get real, it is a mayor's perogative to hire and fire . . . just as it is a community organizer's perogative to associate with the likes of Ayers and Resko. So let's try a few other questions Newsweek, like . . . . was Obama affiliated with ACORN? Honestly, I'd like to know. Did he sell drugs or just do them? What did he and Ayers spend millions together on, what were the results of that program? Has anyone fact checked his tax plan, as forty percent of our population doesn't pay taxes anyway how can he claim ninety five percent will get a cut? Is he giving out even more welfare? Who pays for Biden's Amtrack? Biden, or, the taxpayers? when is someone going to go thru the finances of Obama and Biden, including their expense reports. One more question, as Jonathan Alter and Joe Kline await their apolgies from the McCain camp, when can we as an electorate expect our apoligies for their failure to vet Obama/Biden?

    • Posted By: MsChiTown @ 09/14/2008 9:43:20 PM

Obama released his tax records going back to 2000 - 8 years. Biden announced he's releasing the last 15 years. How about Palin and McCain? Any chance the money she took from taxpayers for travel expenses while at home will show up? You don't know enough about Obama? For more you can check his interview on O'Reilly, numerous on Meet the Press and other Sunday talk shows, his record is availabe on his website, the over 20 debates during the primaries. But then all that's unnecessary, isn't it. You already know all you need to know. He black and therefore you won't vote for him.

This is the supervisor, man or woman, that we fear most in our lives.
The one that plays games with hard hardworking Americans. Games that destroy careers and encourage drama and duplicitous behaviors amongst co-workers. Their cheerleaders prance through the building and pounce on opportunities to babble about respect and leadership qualities.! Questioning your reality and challenging your work ethic.
The school headmaster or Dean that uses personality or prejudice to wreak havoc on our children's education and emotions.
The punitive Home Owner's Association official that makes everyone's life miserable with nit-picking or a blind eye when it serves their purposes. Causing neighbors to become isolationists
The military commander that disheartens the troops, using rank as a shield for vindictive power and control.
The police officer that handcuffs truth and the law because he/she is the one holding the weapon and the keys.
The family member that relishes discord and demands loyalty, often not earned, and typically without reciprocity.
True, everyone loves them and publicly says so, but it is an asterisk burdened love, hiding fear and shame. The feelings of hopelessness and frustration in dealing with this character....or lack thereof, has touched most of us in life.
Each of us know that nauseating drive to work.
That drive home from the office, palms wet with sweat, steering wheel choked with anger. The embarrassment of our impotence as we cave in, acquiesce, and begin hunting our co-workers.
    Self preservation now our mantra.
It is that racing heart disgust, that will guide my vote.
If Sarah Palin could disembowel so many in a frozen community of Eskimos and Elk, imagine the unimaginable abuse possible when she has the tools of the Presidency. Of my Presidency!

I am losing my enthusiasm for her as there seems to be a pattern of reckless behavior and needing to have her way even if it means breaking the rules (shades of Bush!) Maybe one can get away with it in Alaska, but, this is the the big time and she will be held to a higher standard.

It is completely reasonable to take up arms against a government involving a bitch like Palin. That's what guns - and the second amendment - are for...

It's interesting to note that the media have done absolutely nothing to dig up anything on Biden. I'm not saying there's anything there beyond his code word racism against Obama when he was opposing him for the nomination, but come on - they're not even pretending to be balanced about this stuff.

    • Posted By: MsChiTown @ 09/14/2008 9:06:07 PM

It would kinda help if she'd open herself up for interviews and not saying things that are later found to not be true. When you're not forthcoming on your own, you leave the media with no choice but to investigate and possibly dig up stuff. Also, McCain could help by not hiding behind her skirts and pushing her out front to basically do nothing himself but bask in her spotlight.

    • Posted By: OBWan @ 09/14/2008 8:18:10 PM

zelig - What you think that if you do one story one candidate that your obligated to do one on the other?
Holy crap! Batman! Now I know why things are so messed up.

News stories are not about balance, but about reporting the news.

Iowa - jay, correction, we don't know that she's actually seen the Russian coast, only that from some remote island off of Alaska, she could. But, wow, thanks for all of that - don't forget, if she got her way, all our comments here might likely get censored too.

    • Posted By: ChicoCDM @ 09/14/2008 8:25:24 PM

You mean censored like on ALL of Obama's sites. Youtube etc. You guys keep digging holes by attacking Palin without looking at your candidate's positoin. Experience turns out she has far more - keep bringing up stuff without thinking it through - I thinks its great.

I watched last Sunday news show and noted the general disdain by the ABC Roundtable regarding John McCain statements regarding Governor Sarah Palin foreign policy credentials as a Governor of Alaska. Everyone thought that comment was funny and there was no basis to support it. How does ABC news reconcile that position with Governor Rick Perry of Texas standing up to President George Bush and World Court opposition to the execution of Mexican nationals who did not have an opportunity to see their Mexican consul. Governor Rick Perry and the State of Texas ignored Bush and the World Court and went ahead and executed the Mexican national convicted of capital murder. In so doing the Governor of Texas conducted an amazing foreign policy that contradicted the official foreign policy of the United States. State criminal law statutes trump federal law and international law. States along the Mexican border such as Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, and California have had to deal with economic and immigration issues and relations with Mexico on a day to day basis. Those Southern governors do have foreign policy experience. ABC news reporters display their ignorance when they do not recognize the intimacy that exists between states and countries on their border such as Mexico and Russia. The distance to Mexico City from Austin Texas is closer than to Washington DC. On issues ranging from increased trade and international investment, the war on drugs, border security, to immigration, to extradition of fugitives from foreign countries, states are involved in relations with foreign countries. While Washington pontificates and studies issues for decades, states are forced to come up with their own solutions in relations with neighboring countries. Sarah Palin???s experience as Governor of Alaska is relevant foreign policy experience.

    • Posted By: OBWan @ 09/14/2008 8:31:56 PM

Mccainsupporter - The case went through the US Supreme Court that denied the appeal from Mexico and Mexican President Vincent Fox. The World Court was not involved.

Javier Suarez Medina as executed for shooting and killing undercover police officer Lawrence Cadena, 43, during a buy-and-bust drug sting. Mexico sought a stay from the Supreme Court on grounds that Suarez's rights were violated because he was not put in contact with the Mexican consulate in Dallas at the time of his arrest, as required under the Vienna Convention diplomatic treaty. The court rejected the appeal shortly before Suarez was put to death. Fox pleaded with his friend President Bush and with Perry to stop the execution. Perry denied Suarez's request for a one-time, 30-day stay of execution.

Perry probably would have been a better choice - Sorry, but Sarah has had zero dealing with Russian or Canadian upper level officials (presidents or prime ministers).

This one is the big story:

The serial liar Palin claims she did not support sucessionist party ''''''''Alaska First'''' -- watch youtube to see her support speech at their convention. Todd Palin a member 1995-2002. She regularly attends their conventions...

Joe Vogler, The founder of the AIP once said, "The fires of Hell are glaciers compared to my hate for the American Government, and I won''''t be buried under their damned flag!" Listen for yourself palintruth (dot) org.

Then there is the Palin foreign experience.

Claimed she visited Iraq. Oops, Army records show she was only in Kuwait. Same difference, I guess. Then her ''''''''visit'''''''' to Ireland turns out to be a refueling stop and she stays in the plane...

But, at least she is funny: When questioned on foreign policy experience? She says 17 times..."I won''''t blink!" -- But, when pressed notes mostly that she has seen the Russian coast from Alaska. Ha, ha, ha...

She probably calls the ''''''''lower 48'''''''' a foreign country like the rest of the Alaska First crackpots...

Then there is the Anti-Semitism in her church (they *can* be saved)...the book banning (and lies about it)... and, ms earmark queen was for the bridge to nowhere (on video) before she was against it (and took the money anyway)...talk about hiring and firing (can we say vendetta, illegal acces to personell files, and more cover-up lies)..

But, the scope and extent of her lies is astounding. Does she actually believe what she says? Does she have any sense of decency?

Then there is the corruption and cronyism. Will she be indicted before the election? I bet she resigns within 10 days...

There's a website out there (http://womenagainstsarahpalin.blogspot.com/) aleady with 130,000 letters from women in America stating that her anti-woman policies of punishing even rape and incest victims by forcing them to bear children, pimping her own pregnant daughter out to the media, etc.-not to mention utter lack of judgment in foreign policy matters, potential scandals in the past, etc.--do NOT represent us.

She's done one interview and the next is with Sean Hannity (ooh, that'll be a toughie), and there's a petition out there to get her to appear in more interviews--yes, unscripted, without sympathetic hosts teaching her what she should already know about how the non-Alaskan world works. http://www.petitiononline.com/B9AE83R/petition.html

Also, this may not strike you as a key issue in the election, but her bloodthirstiness (e.g. aerial shooting of wolves) is worrisome to me, as someone who does not believe in the unnecessary suffering of animals who are just doing what nature means for animals to do. The following to me is up there with any other animal cruelty case. If this scares you as much as it does me, pass it on.

"Brutal" Ad Targets Palin's Aerial Wolf Hunting

The Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund has put out an ad on Sarah Palin's promotion of (and personal fondness for) aerial wolf hunting, describing the practice "brutal." The ad features disturbing, graphic footage of a wolf's death. "Do we really want a vice president who champions such savagery?" it concludes. Watch:

THIS ELECTION IS NOT A SPORT. If your country means anything to you, THINK about the person you choose to be one (likely to skip) heartbeat away from the presidency.

From the Anchorage Daily News 09/14/2008. Alaska Republicans close ranks around Palin -
Only a few months ago, many leading Republicans here were deriding Palin as a free-spending oil baron in the mold of Hugo Chavez. Now most are doing their best to cheer the governor on as a budget-cutting fiscal conservative running for vice president.

The ex brother in law trooper took the shot that killed the moose. Doesn't matter if, how , why or but. His ex-wife, Palin's sister, is the one who was legally able to shoot it and he is the one who did. Thanks for backing me up on that Shenfein. Glad you agree he broke the law. And as a state trooper, too. And I'm sure the Secret Service, who is now responsible for guarding Palin as a VP candidate, is having loads of fun with a psycho cop who has made death threats against that candidate's family. Actually, I'm just making a point. There are many allegations against Palin. I have no problem with Newsweek reporting on that.. And yet, the story is "Troopergate" and Newsweek provides no background on the trooper and the allegations against him. Why? You know the answer. All I want is balanced reporting. Mention the allegations against all parties involved. Newsweek won't do that.

    • Posted By: jiml1956 @ 09/13/2008 9:13:14 PM

      bearbull,

Don't see much difference between hunting without a license and fishing without a license, especially when you consider that we are talking about commercial fishing.

Sarah admitted that during the McCain vetting process.

      • Posted By: RealityReallyBites @ 09/14/2008 8:01:03 PM

Seems to me the allegations against the trooper are just as unsubstantiated as everything thing else this skunk from Alaska is spouting.
Seems she isn't capable of telling the truth, He is most likely completely innocent.
Just had the misfortune to get hooked up with the rabid skunks sister.

    • Posted By: sherrybb @ 09/14/2008 1:50:31 AM

Did you not pay attention when Obama was the 24/7 news as well. It seems like a lot but obama got the same treatment...so did hilary...only it started 20 months ago. Remember when there were stories on Hilary's laugh. Or numerous discussions on her tears..were they real, did she plan to cry etc etc Palin is going to get this for 2 months, not 20!

Palin is about to implode into her lies and hypocrisy.

  • Posted By: Iowa-jay @ 09/14/2008 7:03:21 PM

    Palin Lies:

She was for the bridge to nowhere before she was against it (then kept the money) -- there are multiple videos showing this.

She claims she did not support sucessionist party ''Alaska First'' -- watch youtube to see her support speech at their convention. Todd Palin a member 1995-2002. Joe Vogler, The founder of the AIP once said, "The fires of Hell are glaciers compared to my hate for the American Government, and I won''t be buried under their damned flag!" Listen for yourself palintruth (dot) org.

She claims she was in Iraq, and Army records contradict this -- maybe she was lost.

She claims she visited Ireland -- touchdown, but did not get out of the plane.

Clams to be a deficit hawk, but when she became mayor of Wasilla the town had no debt, now 13 million in debt.

Claims she sold the state airplane on eBay -- not. It was sold to an Alaska insider at a 600K loss.

Foreign policy experience -- has seen the Russian coast from Alaska. Ha, ha, ha...

Claims Alaska produces 20% of US energy - more like 3.8%.

Special interests - how about all those oil companies.

Claims she fired the Alaska state chef - he is still being paid.

No lobbyist? - oops, Wasilla paid 30k for a washington lobbyist.

Earmarks? -- I bet Wasilla is one of the highest per capita recipients of earmarks in the U.S..

Support for special needs kids, nice but empty words -- she cut special needs budgets by 62%.

She seems to be a pathelogical liar without a strong connection to reality (i.e. ''facts''). I anticipate she will resign the nomination after further scrutiny...

      IOWA-Jay LIES:
Sarah Palin NEVER said she sold the state Jet on e-Bay. The EXACT quote from her convention speech was "That luxury jet was over the top. I put it on eBay".
I put it on e-Bay, nit I sold it on e-Bay. FACT: She did list it on e-Bay. It didn't sell for the asking price so she sold it through a private broker FORMORE than it was WORTH. Not for a loss, since the previous Governor DID pay $2.6 million for the jet NEW>
Anyone who bought a car or boat knows that when you take possession of it the value of it DROPS.
Aviation experts say that the Westwind II is worth less than $2 milion because they have not been manufactured for the past 20 years. Her getting over $2 million was a great deal for the people of Alaska. The cost of fuel and maintenance on that plabe is almost $400,000 PER YEAR, not counting cost of the pilot.
So in the two years as Governor, she regained $2.1 million on the sale plus $800,000 in fuel and mantenance costs. That is $2.9 million without the cost of the pilot, $200,000 LESS than the purchase price of the plane.
IOWA-Jay is equally wrong or lying about virtuallt every other attack he has made upon Sarah Palin as he is about his lie that she said that she SOLD the plane on e-Bay.

"You know what I enjoyed the most? She took the luxury jet that was acquired by her predecessor and sold it on eBay -- and made a profit!" McCain declared in Wisconsin at a campaign stop on Friday.
