well from everything i have read i beleive that this is the wrong choice for mccain and for the american people she does not have the experience i would not hire her to run my business so why should we vote for her

Gee what a surprise, a left wing rag sheet on its last legs smears a Republican. The left is really getting desperate. The interesting thing will be how much of a backlash all this garbage generates. At this rate McCain will win by double digits. Keep up the smear campaign lefties, you're only helping the right.

I heard the right wing has had camps built, I even saw a video or article about this... It would be no surprised coming from fascists.

Has anyone noticed how eerily similar her actions are to that of Bush? She has fired nonloyalists and went after critics. She has replaced qualified people with her incompetent friends. She is refusing to release emails in the troopergate scandal and 13 of her circle including her husband are balking at testifying even though they have been subpoenaed. She is also trying to claim executive priviledge. This seems to be a mirror image of Bush's actions with just as many secrets.

Now it just came out as Govenor she uses a private E mail account for goverment business . Just like Dick Cheney and pals . Of course you dont have to worry about McCain, just like Bush, he doesnt know how to send an email.

When will America get wise to this inexperienced, truly dangerous zealot and manikin for the neocons and ultra-right wing? In Sarah Palin, McCain's campaign, loaded with Bush staffers and some of the most powerful lobbyists in Washington, has a pretty talking head who can spout whatever they want her to say, including blatant lies. I fear for this nation.

A must-read article in the Seattle Times published right after the RNC provides even more details:

"As much of Palin's hometown rallies with pride around her, 1,400 miles away ??? in a National Archives warehouse in Seattle ??? three boxes of documents help capture the quality of her mayoral experience.
These records, from a federal wrongful-termination lawsuit, include the minutiae of municipal governance, with memos to administrators and personnel records stamped "confidential." The documents, combined with accounts from her hometown newspaper, show how Palin's first year as mayor could easily have been her last. .... Stambaugh's wrongful-termination lawsuit was thrown out in 2000 by a federal judge, who said that even if Palin's reasons for firing him were political, she had that right."

Noblinders made some interesting comments about Russia/Georgia. Earlier in the year Russia had not yet brutally invaded Georgia. Since the August invasion by Russia the Ukrainians have solidly been in favor of now joining NATO. Russia has been fueling arms and finances to Abkhazian and S. Ossetian rebels for years. When those two regions were militarily strong enough to attempt a breakaway they did so. Russia has also been handing out Russian citizenship papers to the regions like candy to babies. That was so Russia could intervene on behalf of so called "Russian" citizens. The military invasion of Georgia was not about military startegy and certainly not about S. Ossetia and Abkazia citizens. There is nothing of value in those regions as the oil pipelines are in southern Georgia. No great industries. Only 5% of Georgia's population. It was about intimidating all the former Soviet Republics not to do economic buisiness with the West. You see, Russia supplies 40% of Europe's oil and natural gas. Any economic embargo or disputes and Russia could hold Europe hostage to fuel shortages. Except that Europe could do an end around through the Mediterranean Sea and into the Black Sea and get oil from the Baku pipeline in Azerbaijan which runs from the Caspian Sea through Azerbaijan and Georgia to the Black Sea. In other words, Europe wouldn't need to rely on the Russkies for oil. In December at the next NATO meeting, Georgia and Ukraine will be incepted. NATO troops will be on the ground in Georgia and NATO ships and warplanes at the Ukraine naval base of Sevestapol. The Russians no longer have the military might to stand against NATO. Russia has 21 tank and infantry divisions and 23 seperate brigades in her army. About 29 total divisions in strength. The NATO countries of Europe have 40+ active divisions combined and 10 more conbined in reserves. That does not include the U.S., Britain, Canada, Australia, and others. Also, the Russians have the equal to 9 tank and infantry divisions on the border facing China. China has 118 infantry and 13 tank divisions. 26 of those face Russia. Also Russia has the equal to about 5 divisions in the N. Caucasus region where Georgia is at. That leaves only about 15 divisions in strength to face Europe. Come December, Georgia and Ukraine will join NATO. Russia gets Ossetia and Abkazia. NATO gets military bases right on the Russian border. The West gets oil from the Baku pipeline. Russia gets kicked out of every economic and military alliance in the West. Russia is bluffing. NATO will call that bluff in December.

      Wow.....

And that's when Alaska becomes a refuge and Sarah can convert you.

Glad your finger is not on the button.

      • Posted By: Fisherman144 @ 09/14/2008 12:47:44 AM

Be very careful of Palin's finger. It's poised to hold a club over the rest of the world if they don't do what she wants.

  • Posted By: katholden @ 09/14/2008 12:12:45 AM

It appears that Sarah Palin is quite the bully. Have we become so accustomed to corrupt politicians that we will turn a blind eye to a power hungry bully - which is even more scary in a woman. we will be sorry if she is elected just as we were sorry after bush.

  • Posted By: PoliticAl @ 09/14/2008 12:01:29 AM

Is Sarah Palin the long lost daughter of Dick Cheney?! =:-o

  • Posted By: Bearbull @ 09/13/2008 10:53:48 PM

Continue to talk bout lipstick and pigs. I'm frustrated. The media, and it appears, all of you, having nothing to talk about that is important except to talk about Britney Spears type gossip. I'm going to put on some symphony music, read some Ralph Waldo Emerson, and get a very, very slow drunk on. I'll leave all of you to your self absorbed blitherings and blatherings. And remember my words here today. 30 years. If you live that long you will live to see the end of the United States of America.

Republi-czars and Demon-crats. I bid a less than sincere farewell for now. Don't have a good night.

    • Posted By: olpdog @ 09/13/2008 11:56:12 PM

Exactly! We are being run by self cenetered people who show absolutely no concern for the state of this country. If it makes me rich, that's all that matters. Thanks especially to the Republicans, but the Democrats are not far behind!

You sorry Newsweek rascals are at it again. Do you scrutinize Obama's ties to radical terrorists and bring up the fact that he takes financial gifts and property from them? No. Do you dare challenge Obama or his wife to clearly state why until a few months ago she was not "proud" of America? No. Let's cover up the stupid comments and decisions of our liberal "rock star" so that we can deceive the American people into thinking he is a real good change for our country. HOGWASH!!!!! Still not reporting real, credible news. Newsweek? Reporting 11 year old news is good for your business?

why did sarah palin allow the state of alaska to pay for rape kits

      • Posted By: ABBYNRML @ 09/13/2008 11:34:00 PM

Because she could not stop it. Palin believes the victim should have to pay for it becuase it burdens the smaller communities due to the costs. And you have to ask if she supports women!!!!!

  • Posted By: candyland @ 09/13/2008 6:38:59 PM

Okay this is a new subject.
I was wondering everybodys thoughts on Palin having a down syndrome baby and being Vice President.
I just am a little worried for this child I guess. It take a alot of time and attention for a child like this.
I don't think she understands the choices she is making. When they are this little a person really doesn't know
the problems a child like this might endure. Down syndrome children can have multiple medical issues.
I just don't think when she says she is a working woman and can do it all family and vice presidency she is thinking clearly. This child not only needs it dad it needs it mom. That child doesn't need child care from everyone else. I think it's alot to ask of her other children too. What is gonna happen when she travels all over the country where does that leave this child especially if something was to happen. Any thoughts on this?

    • Posted By: PReed1962 @ 09/13/2008 7:08:35 PM

This working woman has 5 kids. thats 5 and one handicapped newborn. Now as a working mother who had to bring up my sons on my own since they were 10 and 12- I only wish I could have stayed with them and raised them myself instead of relying on others to care for them. In our modern world I dont think its sexist to say if you have FIVE children , somebody better stay home with them. Noone in this household does.

      • Posted By: candyland @ 09/13/2008 11:31:07 PM

I am just saying considering the circumstances surrounding the child with down syndrome how can a vice president with such a demanding job be the mother she needs to be to this child. She doesn't even know what circumstances could come out of a child with such a disease. Every down syndrome child is different. That child needs it father and mother and yes thier are parents that raise them on there own
but she doesn't have too. If she says she is a family oriented mother then she should consider her family in the choices she makes. She doesn't have to do this.

  • Posted By: expat2000 @ 09/13/2008 11:04:55 PM

I think maybe the biggest problem is the slow polarization of America. Blame whomever you want, but the fact remains, both sides have become so far apart that they can't even have a reasonable discussion any longer, and it is becoming evident the comments from the supporters as well. I don't think I can recall a time when people were more hateful, condescending, and just outright mean towards people with a differing opinion. Its no wonder the country is in the state that its in. I'm even guilty of it from time to time when frustration takes over. Well put comments Katiec, and I agree. It won't be easy, but we do need to get back to where we once were.

    • Posted By: jiml1956 @ 09/13/2008 11:26:41 PM

For some reason I'm felling rather maudlin now after reading other comments.

If you look back at history, a lot of countries had their time as world leaders.

Long ago, it was through military might (Alexander the Great, Napoleon, Spanish Armada, the naval forces of Great Britain, etc.).

For America to remain powerful we must invest in education and technology otherwise we will be lesser players to China and India who have larger populations and advancing economies. We are now subservient to the oil-rich countries of the Middle East and that will be our downfall until we develop alternative energy. We must lead the world lest we become just one more democracy like all of the European countries (no disrespect intended).

My point is that throughout history, different regions/countries have gained and then lost their influence over much of the world.

I fervently hope that we can use our current position to stabilize the world for many, many years to come.

Sarah Palin's 80% approval ratings make me think that the people she fired needed to be fired.

    • Posted By: jiml1956 @ 09/13/2008 10:40:11 PM

Maybe it has more to do with every Alaskan getting a $3,200 check from the state this year due to higher state taxes on the oil companies, which raises our gas prices in the lower 48 by the way.

      • Posted By: ABBYNRML @ 09/13/2008 11:26:00 PM

That $3200 came from the bridge to nowhere money. The funds had already been apporpriated then it was cancelled. Palin kept the money and continued the funding on the road to the bridge to nowhere as well as giving all Alaskans that refund compliments of OUR tax dollars. That money should have been returned once the bridge was cancelled.

What's really FUNNY is Palin defending her quest for earmarks at almost the same time McCain was on "The View" denying that she'd ever requested any (with that goofy smile on his face). He, honest to goodness, sat there and said she never requested any earmarks. When challenged he repeated his lie. I don't t thnk you can believe a single word of the Mc Cain campaign.

  • Posted By: zinc8 @ 09/13/2008 11:03:04 PM

Dear God, it's like a (bad) dream episode of Northern Exposure. The woman is a walking soap opera. I love the bar fundraiser and the snowmobile guys. It would be hysterically funny if it weren't true.

  • Posted By: Baboon @ 09/13/2008 10:15:34 PM

U go Palin. It is about time that we women can get in to politics and just ignore all the things that the opposite side is trying to do to you. I am behind u all the way and I still want you and Mcain to win this election and you will for sure!!!!!!!!!!!!1

    • Posted By: Phoenix AZ @ 09/13/2008 11:02:50 PM

You aren't listening to their decietful campaign? Don't you question the lies being brought up about her? Do you know that 1 in 3 Alaskin native woman are being raped? Rape is on the increase every year and due to lack of law enforcement these women aren't being helped. Maybe the money she got for that famous "Bridge to Nowhere" could have paid for more police! How about the fact that under her mayorship she had rape victims buy their own rape kit used for proving rape ($300-$1200) until finally the state stepped in and stopped this? There's much more. Baboon, if you're a woman, tell me do you still admire her so much?

    • Posted By: jiml1956 @ 09/13/2008 10:33:02 PM

Everyone has the right to vote however they choose, but please tell me you are not going to vote for Palin just because she is a woman. Please read everything you can on the candidates and then decide.

BTW, I am a 52 year old white man from Missouri and had always voted Republican, but not this time.

  • Posted By: katiec @ 09/13/2008 10:53:59 PM

Wow Bearbull, very well put but I still manage to have faith in the people of our country.
Sure there is racism, we are seeing it now, of course there is gender bashing. there
will always be. We all have a right to our beliefs . but hopefully will manage to grow.
and learn to hav e more compassion for others.
Yes, our country is in total chaos. The worse shape it has ever been in.
We will need to all tighten our belts and dig in to undo the destruction of
these last eight years. But, it can be done. We are survivors and although
it will not be easy, we will make our country the nation of hope, opportunity
    and honor it once was.
With all the problems that are facing us, we cannot, must not give up.

  • Posted By: Bearbull @ 09/13/2008 9:50:34 PM

Poenix AZ. We did hear about it. It was mentioned in several news articles. The tv networks probably didn't report it because it was only about 20 people standing on a stret corner. Not exactly a mass protest.

    • Posted By: Phoenix AZ @ 09/13/2008 10:15:17 PM

Bearbull, if you would have READ the article you would have seen that HUNDREDS turned out for the anti-Palen protest. That's why I put a link on my post so you wouldn't ass-ume anything! Here you go:
      http://www.adn.com/news/alaska/story/525008.html

By the way hundreds is quite a few considering the rather small population of 260,283 in Anchorage!

      • Posted By: expat2000 @ 09/13/2008 10:50:55 PM

Two things. 1) First of all, to answer why we didn't hear anything about this... the article you have referenced is (at the time of this post) just under 5 hours old. 2) Hundreds means anywhere from 200-900, so I'm not so sure that 1%~4% of the total population is really all that newsworthy in the first place.

Also interesting how the person who wrote the article only interviewed and wrote comments from the protestors and not the supporters, who were also there. In fact, there is only one line in the entire article that is not anti-Palin, which leads me to belive the writer of the article (Mary Pemberton) might just be writing from a certain point of view?
