And why not Gov. Palin in the court. She's probably got more common sense than the group in there right now. Kinda makes you wonder where the term 'Supreme' comes from. How do you get a 80% approval rating from the state's residence unles you are doing things 'the people' like. Not quallified - bullcrap. She's done more in her first term than as governor than Obama' s done with his time in office. And she has the guts to put the Alaskan state checkbook on their website. www.alaska.gov. Obama has 173 days as an actual senator in session. Google it and check it out. He has spent more time running for his next job - rather than serving the people of Illinois who voted for him to serve them in the job he has now. Do you REALLY think he is 'the way' to go. He's a great motovational speaker no doubt - underqualified - YOU BET.

The problem is Palin is not a lawyer> she will be VP.

      You are right.
      Not a lawyer.
      Not VP material.
Governor of 650,000 people -------possibly OK.

HAH! OMG thats funny! (It would have even been funnier except for the seriousness of the subject-scary)

What a well written opinion. Kudos Dahlia

Sarcasim or not it's frightening enough to think this woman has been chosen to run for the second highest office in our land let alone become president - a job she certainly is not qualified to hold. Now - even in sarcasim, you suggest this unqualified woman is better suited to sit on our Supreme Court - when did this woman suddently become an expert in constitutional law? Stop givng this woman publicity - dish out the real news on her - the information she, the state of Alaska and John McCain are hiding - that's news - not this imaginary crap about someone riding high on her ego and your (media) free publicity trip.

Are you insane!? Yes, let's put someone in charge of our constitutional rights who has now ability to reason beyond her own notion of black and white, right and wrong, up or down. The fact that you would even write something as blatantly Marxist as: "Palin wants to do away with abortion and strongly opposes gay marriage. She supports teaching creationism in schools and believes in promoting religious free expression. These are constitutional issues on which Republican presidents have been thwarted for decades. Since the Supreme Court has often been the lone defender of the rights of women, gay couples and atheists, installing a Sarah Palin there would do far more to undo these things than getting her into the White House." is absolutely astounding. It is beyond grotesque that you can admit in this statement that the Supreme Court is the last defense for people of variant viewpoints and that Palin could deliver that final blow to homogenize the American society and stamp out the foundations of our country once and for all. I mean I'm sure you are correct, you must be correct in assuming that "liberty and justice for all" actually means for everyone who thinks and acts properly according to the vocal minority and conforms to the rule of a conservative single religious principle and the vantage that they present as right versus wrong. Social cleansing is no different than ethnic cleansing and should be met with as much defiance and rigor!! In this day and age, I cannot believe I am seeing such putrid remnants of Salem and McCarthy poured forth in all seriousness and without the slightest bit of irony nor humor. It's almost if you really believe in the hatred you have just written. Could this really be true?

Since when Republicans became Communists? If you do not know it is Marx - Lenin theory that construction worker or made can rule the country.

Politically totally insppropriate joke: Obama's mama slaps him as a boy for sassing her. That's when he fires back, "See that's exactly why I hate white people."
What's the point of this tasteless story? Think about it when you're trying to tell everyone he's a secret Muslim who hates white people.

The question: Why not name Sarah to the Supreme court?
Answer: What is yet another job that Sarah is not qualified to do?

I agree we can't afford 4 more years of uneducated unqualifed dimwits in the White House....let's send Palin back to Alaska so she can make sure her second daughter does not have an unplanned pregnancy and McCain back to one of his 8 houses....these 2 are the biggest cons of all time.

When you people keep making this ridiculous comments you keep forgetting about Bubba, the sex-crazed President who sat in the Oval Office for 8 years with his many conquests

Ignorance is bliss and quite satisfying to Palin. If someone comes up with a different idea than hers she just fires them. Intelligent people realize that the more they learn the less they know and only self centered ignorant people think they know it all.She is not capable of running anything except her mouth.

HA! I love it.....Nothing but her mouth. Good job!

Lord, reading your comments reminds me of seventh grade. Character attacks, names turned silly with a twist (McSame?), and absoluting no logial discourse. This reminds me of KOS.where IQs need be lower than 100 to join the blog. Dahlia (who named her?) obviously has a liberal bent. But, have one of you ever reseached through an independent source. Or, is it fun to sound like a lot of very immature children?

here are three questions, kids - before recess.

First, tell me what Barack Obama's position is on the dollar and fiscal reform.
Then ,tell me the impact of a capital gains tax on revenue in the last five increases. (1986 is good example)

Finally, who told Bill Clinton to cut taxes in 1997 in order to get a surplus. Second part what did bill Clinton to in 1998 to lose the surplus. Oh, kids, you little heads turned sideways like confused puppies. Did i cofuse you with adult thoughts?

Okay then. Back to name calling and family attacks. Ms. Lithwick will lead the group. She is a big eighth grader.

Great comments. I hope they are not lost on the countless voters who will decide whether America is an enlightened land filled with diverse points of view and virtually limitless opportunity or if we should just go back to the caves and fear the night.

Yes, by all means: name another intolerant, inflexible, arch-conservative to the supreme court. Oh, and name one who has no legal training. Good idea. Was this a toung in cheek suggestion or was Litwick taking a sabbatical from clear thinking?

Governor Palin needs to stay where she already is, the governor of the large state of Alaska with less than a million people.

  • Posted By: BLC0708 @ 09/16/2008 3:07:56 PM

Wow....Jonathon Swift would be so disappointed in these comments. Good ol' fashioned sarcasm...wasted.

I don't hate Sarah Palin, but I will not vote for her and I don't want her to have power over my life or the lives of my children. My distaste for her stems from her views, not her sex. I do not believe that women or children who are raped or the victims of incest should have to bear the offspring of such union; I do not believe that Creationism is approriate in the science class; I don't believe in shaping courts to fit the private views of teh person who happens to be in charge; I abhor croneyism and the sacking of qualified people who do not agree with the boss. I don't like people who lie unashamedly and repeat untruths over and over again. I don't like sneers against community organizers or education. I don't think assuring everyone that your daughter will get married because she is pregnant is admirable or a solution to bad advice. I don't like people who hold up their parenthood as a big part of their resume and then cry 'foul' if anyone takes a closer look at the nature of that parenthood. I don't like people who claim that drilling offshore will solve our energy problems and repeat mantras they know to be untrue.
I am not terrified of her. Anyone acting the way she has done would earn my disapproval and dislike and male or female I do not want him/her in positions of power on the national stage.

I have to agree with Mom of 5. I thought this was all entirely tongue in cheek. I was quite surprised actually when I started reading all the comments and everyone reacted so viscerally to it. Although its sobering to think of the havoc Palin could wreak on the Supreme Court, I found the article as a whole very amusing.

Your viewpoints are very interesting. Thank you for reminding me of the Supreme Court. For the next 4 years one of the 4 will be President. All will have advisers. And yes the final decision will be up to the President, and Senate, Congress. All to blame for the problems in our country today. But The Supreme Court is a life term position. Out of the 4, who would I really trust? The Breast pump line makes it look like you feel superior to women.
