Rovian Voter Fraud!! The voter fraud conviction rate in the past two election cycles has been about. .000023%. However, in 2000 Katherine Harris illegally disenfranchised 94,000 voters in Florida whose names were similar to felons--and 54% were black. In 2004, Kenneth Blackwell purged the Ohio voter rolls of over 300,000 voters who had voted in the 2000 election, and his cronies in Cuyahoga and Farnklin Counties kept tens of thousands of eleigible voters from being able to get to voitng machines and then challenged their right to vote and forced them to cast provisional ballotss--most of which were never counted. Then Karl Rove and cronies started firing US Attornies who wouldn't gin up voter fraud charges. Now the Help American Vote Act's latest incarnation will remove 4 to 6 million voters from the 2008 voting rolls. Yes, there is vote fraud, and it is massive, but virtually all of it is a Repubican plot to suppress the vote. Check out The Brennan Center's website and verified Voting.org for a real analysis of what's going on.

Brilliant idea! In fact, why stop at just advancing the "outsider" meme in just politics? How about advocating getting some "outsider" physicians into hospitals? Those medical school types have long held a near monopoly on operating rooms. People with knowledge and education have for too long held too much sway much sway over their areas of expertise. Power to the ignorant and prayerful but outspoken!

The time has come for Obama to start leading his own campaign. He has all the supporting structures in place: great campaign staff, grass roots support, money, and issues. But the final necessary key ingredient is his ability to excite the 5%-10% of the electorate we need for victory. His supporters have done everything and more to make this a success. The rest is up to him. He can no longer pace in front of audiences trying to persuade with logic and the facts. He has to confront the attacks, the lies and the spin with authority, outrage and fire. He must become passionate from the gut. If he doesn't have this in him it's over, no matter how well he does in the debates. The final movement of voters to his side will come from non-spoken language of attitudes, energy, power, emotions and feelings. He has to show how he feels, that this matters to him. Not that it has to matter to voters; it must matter to him. If voters don't see him fighting for his life they will be unmoved. He has to lose his cool. Big time!

    Dahlia,

Based on the comments her, not everyone gets it, especially the supporters of ............ Oh, never mind.

Wow. Finally a piece that combines both dark humor and irony. My fear, however, is that those who support Palin will see neither.

    Duhhh..
Wouldn't she have to first earn a J.D. degree? To become a judge even at local levels one must be admitted to the bar. Correct me if I am wrong with an bona fide example!!! That is as a judge as opposed to a justice of the peace.

Wouldn't she first have to earn a a law degree?

As just about everyone knows by now, Charlie Gibson of ABC News had the first interview with Gov. Sarah Palin since her acceptance of the VP nomination.

If you think that there is no double standard in the media, just compare the questions Obama was asked by Gibson to the ones Gibson asked Palin, courtesy of Nancy Kallitechnis:

    Obama interview:

How does it feel to break a glass ceiling?
How does it feel to win?
How does your family feel about your winning, breaking a glass ceiling?
    Who will be your VP?
Should you choose Hillary Clinton as VP?
    Will you accept public finance?
What issues is your campaign about?
    Will you visit Iraq?
Will you debate McCain at a town hall?
What did you think of your competitor's [Clinton] speech?

    Palin interview:

Do you have enough qualifications for the job you???re seeking? Specifically have you visited foreign countries and met foreign leaders?
Aren't you conceited to be seeking this high level job?
    Questions about foreign policy
    -territorial integrity of Georgia
-allowing Georgia and Ukraine to be members of NATO
    -NATO treaty
    -Iranian nuclear threat
-what to do if Israel attacks Iran
    -Al Qaeda motivations
    -the Bush Doctrine
    -attacking terrorists harbored by Pakistan
Is America fighting a holy war? (misquoted Palin)

2008....the year that will be remembered as the year jounalism died........and it has cost Hussein the election...

    NOBAMA!!!

I'm surprised that most of you did not find this to be so utterly ridiculous that it teeters into downright funny? Surely this article is satirical, not in the least bit meant to be taken seriously. I am not a Palin supporter. In fact, I wish they'd never dug her up from under the Alaskan tundra. Even still, I know this article to be satirical and I don't take it as a promotion for Palin nor as a stab at her. Jeez, people, get off your high horses. If you're that incensed about politics, I'd like to see you out there at the polls come November.

bammer, quit being ratarded. There's are always someone to blame. I don't know who this mysertious liberal elite is? Define it for me please. Is it people with a college education? A high school education? Who the hell is the liberal media? Murdoch owns half the big media you moron. Start thinking for yourself for a change instead of having Fred Thompson do it for you!

...an article to make you go, "Hmmm..."

Like, hmmmm, is the editor being facetious?

    Surely, she jests.

What a stupid uninformed or downright unresearched and biased story. You should be ashamed if you call yourself a journalist. In the words of a old tire salesman here in Los Angeles, If you worked for me you wouldn't be working for me. Neither would your editors. Gay marriage? Palin vetoed an anti gay rights bill, Teaching Creationism? Palin is on record that Creationism should not be part of the mandated curriculum. Promoting Religious free expression (isn't that part of the founding tenants of our country?). Darn, you even cast her appointment of a supreme court justice in FDR court packing light when all she did was appoint a judge as the court's normal 5th member to fill a vacancy. Firing the librarian? Heck even the Librarian denied that one on national TV. Reduce abortions. Doesn't everyone want to reduce abortions? I have never heard anyone but you intimate they want to increase abortions except Obama who supports the concept of after birth abortion and Peter Singer, a Princeton professor who wants to allow a 30 day period after the child is born to kill it without any legal ramifications. Princeton is one of the Ivy league schools to which you pander.
Of course one expects the clamor of partisan investigations by the losers in one's state and Palin is not immune from those.
Your relation of Al Gore and Dick Cheney is good the only difference is that Al gore is stupid (if you don't think so read his book). To compare Palin with either is an insult to her. Unlike Al Gore, Palin can think. Unlike Cheney, she admits she has things to learn. I think the best comparison to Palin as a VP might be Teddy Roosevelt. He only had the obligatory minor Navy Dept. position and was Governor of New York ( a job of little import that a bigoted blind man can do) for one year before he was tagged by McKinley as the VP candidate. TR did OK. He killed & ate moose too.
Your comment regarding scofflaw is interesting. It was 5 justices on the supreme court that ruled a developer can take your propertyunder emminent domain, that the University of Michigan can admitt unqualified blacks to law school so they can be pets for the qualified students (one reason for allowing quotas was that by admitting unqualified minorities the qualified students are exposed to and would naturally help others and that is the same reason I got a dog for my kids, It didn't work with them and wont at UM either), and that a state can not have a death penalty for seriial child rapists because europe doesn't like it. What next from those 5 loonies? Maybe it will be found OK to bomb power plants because they contribute to global warming.

But even though your satire is childish and unresearched, your conclusion is good. I think a dose of plain thinking is just what the Supreme court needs. They have become too adept in rationalizing themselves out of their constitutional box.

Put the Palins in the pen. Put Bill Clinton on the Supreme Court.

  • Posted By: kithara @ 09/14/2008 11:43:28 AM

A caribou in the headlights. She and Clarence Thomas could compete for least intelligent things to say.

Even better than last night's hillarious SNL skit with "Sarah and Hillary", aka Tina Fey and Amy.

The idea of putting Sarah Palin on the Supreme Court is so totally ludicrous, that it is a perfect mirror of the absurdity of McCain's choosing of her to run for VP of America.

Why not on the Supreme Court? Well, 1) a tiny litle ladylike violation of the US Constiution (censorship of books in libraries based on her personal view of what's right/wrong). 2) A smattering of ignorance and hypocrisy (Palin agreed with Bush on elimination of teen sex ed budget and promotion of "abstinence" - - in last 8 years, US teen pregnancies have increased to the point where we're #1 in the world! Hate to be personal, but Sarah and Tod didn't buy the "abstinence" gig. They eloped and less than 8 months later, Track was born, and Bristol is just following in Mom's footsteps - - but instead of being admonished for disobeying "abstinence", she and her 17 yr old sexual partner were feted on stage before an audience of 38,000,000 and embraced by the other abstinence proponent, the US Presidential candiate McCain). And don't you think if she was intelligent, she'd twig to the fact that abstinence isn't working and it's time to get wise and start protecting the lives of our young Americans? 3) Womens' reproductive rights are just as important as gun owners' rights (Aha, yes, but remember she was elected Mayor of Wasilla with the backing of the National Rifle Association and neither NARL or NOW gave her any support so women's rights don't deserve any payback). 4) The right of an employee NOT to be fired for doing their job (As Mayor, Palin fired Irl Stambaugh, Wasilla Chief of Police - - she really doesn't like Chiefs of Police, does she? - - because, like a good peacekeepr and protector of citizens, he opposed a state-legislature bill to permit concealed weapons in schools and bars, whereas Palin and the NRA supported it, and because he wanted to close down town bars at 2.00am instead of 5.00 am, which Palin supported because the town bar owners had contributed 10% of her campaign funds

So, all-in-all, She's not qualified for US Vice President and would be positively dangerous in the US Supreme Court....after the Bush-Gonzalez lawyer cleansing, she'd be bound to spearhead a national chief of police cleansing. I got it - - let's nominate her to be the first female President of the National Rifle Association.
    Annemarie, New York City.

Get back to the issues. Stop talking about Palin, and she will go away. Alexblack, I guess you are one of those people who scream, "Watch out for the somehow liberal media." It's that same media that continues to give Palin a pass by refusing to ask about her record and by accepting her lack of presence for interviews.

  • Posted By: alexblack @ 09/14/2008 7:59:38 AM

It's snarky little articles like this, misrepresenting Palin's views and record, that just continue to diminish the stature of Newsweek, a once great magazine that people actually paid to read! Now people either ignore it or occasionally read it for free online and then wonder why they bothered.

  • Posted By: labman57 @ 09/14/2008 3:17:19 AM

I think we have just gotten a glimpse of her inability to comprehend national and international policy. She currently knows squat about either. She's not necessarily stupid, just extremely ignorant about 95% of what the VP job requires. I'm not even talking about experience--just vital knowledge necessary to make prudent, rational, sound decisions.

Serving on a city council and mayor of a small town are fine on your resume....if you're running for state office. And a year and a half as governor of the state that is least typical of the rest of the country is of only marginal value.

She's going to need over a year to be brought up to speed just to be competent in her job. Rove even admitted that her selection was a "political" decision" rather than a "governing" one, meaning that her job is simply to get McCain elected and then be quietly sequestered into a office for the next 4 years. McCain knows this, and this is why she is being shielded from the rest of the media. Every time she opens her mouth and says something that has not been scripted for her in advance, she shows her total lack of understanding about national and international affairs. Hell, she didn't even know what the VP's job entailed when she agreed to accept McCain's invitation to join the ticket!

But frankly, lack of vital knowledge is only one small piece of the "we don't want Palin in Washington" pie.
