I am literally praying that the author is being sarcastic and that I am missing it because the mere thought of a lifetime appointment of Palin to the Supreme Court has me in such a state of shock that I am missing the sarcasm.

Just what the USA needs a pentocostal, creationist believing loony toon on the Superior Court..... that would really get the USA to the top of the dumbest country in the world list.

The USA is tired of only being given the choice of Clowns or Criminals to lead.

Hmm, no judicial experience. Why don't we just renominate Harriet Miers?

The nation loaths Washington insiders- who is the GOP senior senator insider from Az. for 26 years...
The man who choose Sarah Palin for VP, well Palin is pretty- but does she have the needed experience in foreign policy, legislative policy and the national economy over all the GOP VP possibilities available?
    Not even close!
There are 50-60 GOP legislators, senators etc. with far stronger and more viable resumes available!
Like I said Plain is pretty!
    McCain choose Vanity over substance!
I would say judging by McCains funding resources that he is for sure a Washington Insider!
Now we know the definition of "Maverick!"

Trazer do you know anything about McCain's history with women? You guy's have no moral whatsoever. http://rawstory.com/news/2008/McCain_temper_boiled_over_in_92_0407.html

Comment: Dahlia - Ivy League schools are not =that great. When it came to Harvard, it was obvious that the Presiident of Harvard did not like the female professors. As such, a special office was opened at Harvard to help with this issue and to work with the Harvard executives to learn how to be tolerant of women. This is an issue known across all tiop research universities in the US. Given Obama's hatred of Hillary Clinton and his not accepting of a well qualified candiate - Biden even said she was more qualified than him - it is clear that Obama is biased against all women.

Dahlia - Why do you write such articles that put Amreican women back 100 years? I guess you refuse to help other women and that is the role of the press - to put down anyone who is a female. Dahlia - your blog is stupid.

If the media attacks women so much - and they do - why then does the media support the SEGREGATION AND RACIST policies of Biden and Obama when it comes to Iraq. The Iraq president said that their policies would be a disaster for the entire world. The race has become a joke as Obama thinks its about 1) Typing speed on a computer; 2) calling people pigs; 3) using cocaine; 4) taking money form known felons to pay for his home mortgage. I guess I wouild rathre have sensible Alaskan policies than an executive in office who has committed a felony.

One of the most important issues facing our country is energy. This has a major impact on the economy. Obama thinks that giving me two hundred dollars more once a year is sufficient and fails to give me a good energy policy. I have spent more money than two hundred dollars this summer on gasoline due to Nancy Pelosi - Democrat - decision to go on vacation than to work and prioritize this issue for Ameirica. Obama was in support of this. In short, Governor Plain is most knowledgeable on energy. Why can'[t we get one Newsweeks blogger to write about that?

Gov. Sarah Palin understands hockey, hunting and getting government money. Many politicians have been elected who stand for less. She has been mocked for lack of experience and praised for being ready to be President so can we find some common ground to judge her 'heartbeat away qualifications'. Recent Vice-Presidents like Dick and Al ( the last sixteen years) had been around for a while, knew a little about Washington and other things, and were always ready to press their case. Gov. Palin does not seem quite so ready or eager to step into the arena . Nobody agreed with everthing Dick or Al said, but few disagreed they lacked enough experience to qualify to say it. Gov. Palin comes to us as a 'rookie'. Maybe she has what it takes, and maybe not. We all know some experience is better than none, and more experience is usually better than some. We also know some rookies can play at a high level right away. Will Gov. Palin be the exception who can play right away, or the rule who takes a few years to learn the game? Sen. McCain thinks she is ready and he has been wrong before.

QUOTE: No fair arguing that Palin isn't experienced enough to sit on the highest court of the land. What matters???far more than experience???is one's unyielding moral certainty, relatability and gender. And Palin has these qualities in spades. Washington's old-boy problem hardly ends at the Oval Office. If ever there were a D.C. institution in dire need of a place to plug in a breast pump, it's the Supreme Court. And Palin has already proven that neither the courts, nor precedent, nor even the Constitution itself will be a match for the force of her will. UNQUOTE

What a bunch of demeaning leftist crap from this leftist (obviously radical feminist) author. Your not a journalist, your a slimeologist.

Why is the MSM in the US so afraid of exposing McCain of what he is?
What happened between McCain and his first wife:

Why does Sarah Palin scare the Democrats and the media so much? And why have the Democrats and the media responded with such virulent and bizarre ad-hominem attacks? She certainly has outed the media and the feminists who are neither for truth nor women, but for liberal, dare I say socialist?, social policies.

    • Posted By: TryReason @ 09/13/2008 5:56:06 PM

Is it "virulent and bizarre" for people to say, as many in the mainstream media have, that Sarah Palin is simply not qualified to step into the U.S. presidency? It is irrational for you to be distubed by this fact-based criticism, yet not have taken offense when commentators mocked (for example) the way Hillary Clinton laughs, the sound of her voice, her looks, her education. These were authentically ad hominem attacks. By contrast, the observation that Sarah Palin has no foreign policy experience is not an ad hominem attack and is not meant to be mean-spirited; it is simply a statement of fact. People are entitled -- indeed, have an obligation -- to consider these facts before casting their votes.

Sarah Palin scares us because we would like to see the country prosper, not stagnate as it has for the last 8 years. McCain is not change, and on his own could not win. But he used a cleaver gimmick that seems to be working. This is unfortunate, someone who goes along with the current administrations policies almost all the time, has successfully convinced people he is change, but using cheap tricks and smoke and mirrors.

Remember GOP = socialism for businesses and a kick in the but for the rest of us.

This article is so sarcastic that I actually had fun laughing while reading it. One thing people keep forgetting is that, a lot of people voting for McCain/Palin ticket is B/c of MCCAIN. And for some, it's any body BUT OBAMA b/c a LOT of us do NOT trust him. I see Obama vs McCain. Palin re-energized and make people look at the ticket... most voting for this ticket b/c of McCain. Get off the high Obama Horse.

What a bunch of silly blather. Anyone with a brain who has done any research knows that the threatened firing of the librarian and banning of books is not true. To incluse references to those two things as fact makes your whole piece lack credibility. Get over the hysteria and start reporting facts.

I don't have the energy to read all of these comments, given their predictability. The problem with satire these days is that it is seen by people other than the "target" audience. Undoubtedly, Newsweek subscribers are smart enough to understand what this article is about, but, sadly, the average Web viewer may not be all that bright. The New Yorker learned this, in spades, so to speak. There are undoubtedly some readers who will say, "Yeah! I just know our gal Sarah could do that job! But first, let's make her President!" A sizable proportion of Americans thought GWB was doing a great enough job in 2004 that they reelected him. Those people have not left the country. They are easy to lie to, even if they do, finally--years later--"get it". That doesn't mean they won't fall for the next scam. Friedman says Americans are "dumb as we wanna be". I have a tendency to disagree. I think, for reasons I don't understand, that Americans actually *are* very slow. I'm working on a theory that it has to do with watching propaganda (TV advertising) from a very early age.
