McCain has worked across the aisle more often than Obama. "Whether looking at bills they have led on or bills they have signed onto, Mr. McCain has reached across the aisle far more frequently and with more members than Mr. Obama since the latter came to the Senate in 2005.???

???In fact, by several measures, Mr. McCain has been more likely to team up with Democrats than with members of his own party. Democrats made up 55 percent of his political partners over the last two Congresses, including on the tough issues of campaign finance and global warming. For Mr. Obama, Republicans were only 13 percent of his co-sponsors during his time in the Senate, and he had his biggest bipartisan successes on noncontroversial measures, such as issuing a postage stamp in honor of civil rights icon Rosa Parks.

    why you don't get it.

every politician for national office as well as the national media make far more money than us. claim to be better educated {i prefer wisdom... remember "junk genes" the junk empirical science masquerading as religion we force our kids to learn each year as evolution... a static "theory" over 100 yrs old) read end of "The genetic strand" - the 2 page conclusion or The Trouble with Physics" tell me scientists aren't our modern priesthood. search for words like faith by these atheist Nobel-winning scientists... in science...its their religion and our taxes pay for it. so much for no government establishment of religion!) i have advanced degrees in science and did R&D in a hard science chemistry.

only Palin looks like middle America. Jonathan Alder... you don't, yet you claim to objectively speak for us. hmmm. how much do you make?

Say the words: "Commander in Chief Sarah Palin." Two emotions come to mind: "Laughter" and "Fear" which breed "Disbelief." She is a terrible choice which highlights McCain's BAD, BAD judgement. The woman who beat her in the beauty contest would probably be a better choice. Miss America would be a shoo-in by Republican standards.

The actual "babble" comes right from his touching tale about growing up. He admits trying to compete to make up for his absent father. The rest is just observation from his lack of cool under pressure.
When faced with crisis as a young socialist, Barry broke down and took drugs (from his own memoirs). When McCain was faced with crisis as a young Lt.Cmdr., McCain relyed on the solid examples set by his father (his memoirs) and faced his challanges with uncontested honor and courage. Obama is like a Hollywood movie set, a fantasic facade created with miraculous speed. However, if you look closely he is just a shell that lacks a foundation.

    • Posted By: FMAinMass @ 09/16/2008 6:15:17 AM

McCain's POW record is now coming under scrutiny and some of his former POW buddies say they would not trust him to be POTUS. He admitted to "breaking" and he "talked" so much they called him "Songbird" - hmmmm. Of course, McCain neglected to put that in his book. Did McCain mention that he crashed five planes and graduated near the very bottom of his class? Coming from a military family do you think he really had a choice to be in the military?

      • Posted By: edjones65 @ 09/16/2008 3:42:30 PM

I would like to hear more about that, where can I find that information about his buddies stabbing him in the back, that almost sounds like a bad movie. I want facts not opinions please.

I think if you want to twist things up like you have in this article that is your right to do so. Facts are facts if you want to support Obama do so but he has no experience at this and it is absurd to say that McKain don't have you cannot even compare the two on past political experience, Obama is an idiot who will certainly bring this country down quick and in a hurry. Report the facts not your opinion if you want to write for the national papers.

      Willnotevote = Redneck

"The Bubba vote is there, and it's very real, and it is everywhere," Armey told USA TODAY and Gannett News Service. "There's an awful lot of people in America, bless their heart, who simply are not emotionally prepared to vote for a black man.

"It's deplorable, but it is real," said Armey, adding that he believes "Republicans would not encourage" such prejudices. He said the "Bubba vote" is "invisible" in pre-election opinion polls, because voters do not admit they would oppose a candidate because of race.

The "Bubba vote" is shorthand in politics for white, working-class voters who often live in rural areas ??? a group Obama did not dominate in state primaries.

Dick Armey, who made those statements re the bubba vote is a REPUBLICAN!!!

And you might want to check those rally stats on your #1 guy. He has his staff flat-out lieing about turnout. They were so bad at it that they estimated a crowd a few thousand beyond the capacity of a half-filled arena. Of course, those w/ basic math skills figured this out.

Richard Keith "Dick" Armey (born July 7, 1940 in Cando, North Dakota) is a former U.S. Representative from Texas's 26th congressional district (1985???2003) and House Majority Leader (1995???2003). He was one of the architects of the "Republican Revolution" of the 1990s, in which Republicans were elected to majorities of both houses of Congress for the first time in four decades, and the chief author of the Republican Contract with America.

Republicans have not had a single original idea since Ronald Reagan's era. Why do people expect them to now? The proof is in the pudding, it has been long proven that nearly everything they say about Barack Obama, is either a half-truth, a no-truth, outright slander or what amounts to a racial attack against him. Republicans are clearly and purposefully, keeping the focus on complete BS because they know what most of America knows, they have nothing short of a continuation of George Bush's failed policies, which sadly, they will find out quickly, should they allow these two idiots in office.

Put the race card away in fact it isn' t even relevant obama has no experience period to run our country and if he loses this election it won't be because he is black it will be because he always speaks like he knows it all and nothing comes out that makes sense. You can tell he is full of crap every time he opens his mouth. But i am so sick of people and the race card put it behind you please if you haven't noticed your democratic canidate is black he won over white folks in the race with him if anyone is being racist it is all of you that still try to pull out that card every time something don't go your way, maybe all the white folks should start crying that.

That's the best you can come up with?!?! A picture of a gazebo? You really think McCain is clean of pork projects??? Here's some real handling of tax dollars by McCain to the tune of a $10M.

???Arizona Sen. John McCain is sponsoring two interesting pieces of legislation. One mounts a direct assault on congressional earmarks, those little morsels of home district pork that lawmakers slip into unrelated spending bills. The other steers $10 million to the University of Arizona to launch an academic center honoring the late Supreme Court Chief Justice William Rehnquist.???

10 mil. for an improvement at a university that devil!!! Does he know how many unused $150,000 gazebos he could buy with that money???

        • Posted By: PFflyerkid @ 09/15/2008 10:07:34 PM

The point is not what McCain porked the money for.The point is that he was mounting an assault against pork spending but shoveling it out the back door to his home state.

The Obama Campaign Sinks to a New Low in Decency

The Obama campaign, as it continues to flounder and sink in the polls, has descended to a new low, even for itself.

Recently it has launched a new TV ad in which a mocking narrator alleges that John McCain is so out of touch with the current generation because of his inability to use a computer.

The narrator does not admit that the reason John McCain doesn???t use a computer is because 5 and a half years of torture as a POW in the Vietnam war cause him to experience severe pain by attempting to do many of the day to day menial tasks which most of the American population take for granted.

Obviously the Obama campaign does not demonstrate any appreciation and respect for the veteran and current members of the US military!

The obamabot ship is sinking, and the crew are sure grasping at straws in their pitiful attempt to deceive the voting public. Yes, Obama approved that deceitful ad - it is consistent with his decrepit morally corrupt standards.

Obviously that empty suit has no heart, courage, sincerity, honour, and respect!

Do you expect a presidential candidate to be truthful in striving to win the election?
If so, Obama just doesn???t ???measure up??? in that consideration!

Obama is an unscrupulous do-anything community agitator who has revealed his true previously hidden self!

On November 4, you, the legal American voting public, have the opportunity and ability to cast Obama back to that slag heap of Chicago manipulators who permeate the slum areas of that city.

    • Posted By: PFflyerkid @ 09/16/2008 12:57:43 PM

      1) Nothing's stopping McCain from "using a computer" w/ his left hand. Stephan Hawking has far less to work with.

      2) No less than Karl Rove himself this past Sunday declared McCains ad campaign one of the most unscrupulous he's ever seen. He said it on Fox News no less. It's widely available, if you know how to use a computer.

      3) McCain himself has politicized his limitations derived from his POW time repeatedly. Most recently w/ Jay Leno last week and Katie Couric before that. They ask one question and he just blatently answers with his POW story. He tries hard to make it work but it falls flat. Yes, the guy survived horrific times but that doesn't make him a shoe-in for the Presidency.

The people supporting these Republican candidates are at their core, mostly made up of people who have traditionally been racist in the past or tend to be from generations of people who think of discrimination as a tool to further their own false fears. They also tend to be made up of people who really were closet racists, but for fear of what their neighbors would think of them, have kept it in the closet, only to bring it out in moments where it can't be proven against them or in moments like this election where you have candidates that make it seem like it???s okay or that it is your right by the constitution to be a racist. Some of these same people are made up of the back room types, you know, the ones who conduct most of this nations side-deals, which just happens to derail most of the legislation that would actually benefit the masses as opposed to the few. McCain's campaign has sought to tap into this inbred hatred, regardless of what it will do to the nation, which explains why they continue to proclaim known lies in their speeches, seemingly oblivious to the fact that these statements are publically known lies that have been debunked.

  • Posted By: rsquaric@sbcglobal.net @ 09/15/2008 12:43:01 AM

Well, how do we know for sure about Obama. He doesn't have much experience to draw a definitive opinion regarding his ability to lead or make compromises. One year as a Senator before spending two years running for the presidency isn't quite the real deal...

    • Posted By: summer4077 @ 09/15/2008 3:34:08 PM

A graduate of Columbia University and Harvard Law School, where he served as president of the Harvard Law Review, Obama worked as a community organizer and practiced as a civil rights attorney before serving in the Illinois Senate from 1997 to 2004. He taught constitutional law at the University of Chicago Law School from 1992 to 2004. Following an unsuccessful bid for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives in 2000, he announced his campaign for the U.S. Senate in January 2003. After a primary victory in March 2004, Obama delivered the keynote address at the Democratic National Convention in July 2004. He was elected to the Senate in November 2004 with 70% of the vote.

I think just about anybody in politics can produce a resume of equal or greater value to some degree or another and it is a rather short one at that. You would need a book to look at McCains. So what does that all mean... nothing. There is so much more that needs to be done as the president and well as you have it listed... if thats it we are in trouble. Keep in mind he will also be our Commander and Chief , what kind of experience does he have with dealing with the miltary, none. He maybe able to handle some of the things thrown at him but he has absolutely no experience in dealing with the military and that is my biggest worry, we cannot run from our problems like he is suggesting. Now don't get me wrong, I do not agree with the Iraqi war but running away from our problems will solve nothing.

        • Posted By: FMAinMass @ 09/16/2008 7:11:20 AM

That's precisely why Biden is his VP pick - to help govern - especially with respect to national security. The military is overwhelmingly in favor of Obama and for good reason. He is NOT full of bluster and saber-rattling which in my opinion is a very good thing. Aggressive negotiation FIRST, military response only as a last resort. Now THAT would be a change! Don't you think McCain's approach would be just the opposite?

          • Posted By: edjones65 @ 09/16/2008 11:35:21 AM

Well put, however I would not say the military is overwhelmingly in favor. I am surrounded by military bases and I am an ex Marine as well. I worked with these guys and I helped them when they were down. I cannot stand to see what these guys are going through, it's pure hell, there has never been a war like this one, it's like a double edged sword.. no matter how you grab it, you're going to get cut. McCain had a problem with the war from the very beginning and didn't like what he saw and expressed"If we are going to do this we need to do it right but nobody listened" I admit you have made some valid points but it is obvious that you are very opinionated and not willing to listen to what somebody else has to say about the other candidate. Personally I think our choices suck, I am sorry I just don't have faith in Obama, something about him makes me nervous but damnit I cannot put my finger on it. I am just a grunt but I am trying to understand what everybody is saying, being a grunt doesn't mean I am brain dead either so do not go there please.

yo jonjon polls got you in a snit? Because you must not have realized what you said - a nugget of truth amidst the rantings of a spurned adolescent crush. Here's your gem:

"Besides that, Obama hasn't been around long enough to get much done."

So does that qualify or disqualify him to be commander in chief? What he says he has done or will do never quite matches up with actions. He hasn't been around long enough to be held accountable for anything - as his Iraq fairy tales proves. Thank you for destroying the rest of your fluff with the one sentence of truth. It sames me a lot of reading and ranting,

Do you biased, sexist, media Obama zealots every get tired of defending Obama. It's beginning to get a little nauseating. Obama has been given a free walk by the media on his association with one of the most radical racist people of our time (Rev Wright). If it had been discovered that a white candidate had attended a church (for 20 years) where the pastor damned and defamed America, while speaking against the black race and our government on a regular basis to thousands of followers, that candidates career would be over. Not to mention Obama's association with other's like Rezko and Ayers that has also been swept under the rug and it seems the media doesn't want to touch it. Ayers is a known terrorist , an extremist, who participated in bombings in this country in an effort to champion his causes. When you look at who Obama's friends are it's not difficult to see why he would refuse to salute our flag or wear a flag pin on his lapel, or why his wife would state " that for the first time in her life she was proud of her country" It's amazing how all the negative aspects and the truly questionable past of Obama is ignored and how the media continues to portray him as some kind of a saint. What the sexist media doesn't seem to realize is that every time they attack Sarah Palin, her following just gets stronger. After watching the disrespectful way that Hillary Clinton was treated during the primary, many women are just plain fed-up and now as we are seeing it repeated with Sarah Palin, they are determined that it's not going to work this time ... the McCain/Palin ticket is looking pretty good to me.

    • Posted By: profjonathan @ 09/13/2008 11:26:26 PM

      Where to begin? It's hard to say, because there are so many errors and misstatements throughout this typical screed. Let's see, the accusation about Obama not saluting the flag is false. He has worn a flag lapel pin, for whatever that shows. If Ayers were a known terrorist and extremist, he'd be under arrest by the FBI, not an English professor at the University of Chicago whose past bad acts were performed when Obama was in elementary school. Obama wasn't accused, indicted, or even called as a witness in Rezko's recent trial, and far from being "swept under the rug," the connection between Obama and Rezko has been considered and dismissed by millions of American voters. If you disagree with Obama's policies, that's fine, but please, PLEASE, stop spouting the talk radio talking points as fact. {ProfJonathan}

      • Posted By: mediabiasisfun @ 09/14/2008 3:25:31 PM

Just as an FYI, YOU are incorrect. Ayers IS a known terrorist and extremist. He was not prosecuted because law enforcement had to drop charges against him after blowing the investigation by illegally gathering evidence. As well, he is on the record admitting his past crimes and stating "we didn't do enough." Also, Obambi's age at the time of the acts is irrelevant in the extreme. If you hang out with a 60 year old who molested, killed and ate a dozen infants 30 years ago (which I would guess is 10 years before you were born) and who believes he "didn't eat enough".......you'r judgement and love of children would certainly be suspect.

Second, "considered and dismissed by millions of American voters" is a pathetic and juvenile argument. Their are also millions who have NOT dismissed the connection. Whether or not there was something there that was unethical, we do not yet know. That is ALL that we can say without any doubt.

Please though, keep spouting talking points and failing to think through anything on your own, it not only aids the discussion but helps your intellectual development.

        • Posted By: FMAinMass @ 09/16/2008 8:44:08 AM

Wow - attack, attack, attack! The Republicans must be desperate. They can't seem to do anything but spew lies and misinformation like an erupting volcano. What about the gosh darn issues? Here we are in so many messes in every facet of American life and you keep bringing up the same old, tired, guilty by association bullsh--t. Why not just use your BRAIN and think about / discuss what's really important here.

      • Posted By: mediabiasisfun @ 09/14/2008 3:34:29 PM

Nice talking point spewing, but YOU are wrong. 3 seconds of internet research would show you that Ayers was indeed an extremist in a terrorist group, admits it, and claims his group "did not do enough." YOU even state the acts were performed IN THE SAME SENTENCE you deny Ayers actions. Nice critical thinking abilities. Also, if you had your political coming out party at the home of a 60 year old who, 30 years ago (if my guess is correct thats about 12 years before you were born), raped, killed and ate a dozen infants and said to this day that he "didn't eat enough".....well I think most reasonable people would be within their rights to question your judgement and whether you love kids.

Also, in terms of Rezko. Your argument is pathetic. Millions of Americans have ALSO considered the connection and NOT dismissed it. At most, we can say that there is no evidence of anything unethical in their relationship at this time. However, given the circumstances of the home purchase, the direction of funds to Rezko related enterprises by Obama while in the IL Senate, and the closeness of their relationship, it is absolutely reasonable to wonder if there is something there as yet undisclosed.

You left out one more thing about Obama:

Obama is a metrosexual eunuch. A gutless wonder. His pick of Biden as his running mate proved it beyond all doubt. When challenged by Russia's invasion of Georgia and McCain's strong response to that crisis, he retreated into a defensive position and chose the absolute safest, least controversial path.

McCain won my admiration with his daring gutsy move to pick Sarah Palin as his running mate. Daring, gutsy, imaginative, out-of-the-box thinking. When the going gets tough, McCain pushes the outside of the envelope, like the old fighter jock he is. Isn't that what we want in a leader?

As an old Star Trek fan, I see Obama as like Mr. Spock. In Star Trek, Mr. Spock was cool, logical, knowledgeable. But he didn't make the best starship captain. The swashbuckling Captain Kirk did. McCain is Captain Kirk. McCain is Captain Horatio Hornblower. McCain is every swashbuckling commander throughout history. The ones that make history.

The ones I respect and admire.

    • Posted By: FMAinMass @ 09/16/2008 8:35:47 AM

BcdErick, even Rove says the McCain lies are too much.

There is a lot of talk out there, but I am still realizing two truths.
A better resume was not considered because of femicidal practices, holding women down with yet another mountain to climb next election in the Democrat party.

Michelle Obama and the kids were not at the ground zero ceremony, where this war with Islam we are in the middle of began. The disrespect is rampant for America and for women.

How Obama intends to sling some mud around and cover those two glaring things is a real problem for him.
I only see him digging himself in deeper with every assault on Mc Cain and specifically Palin.
Obama should stick to selling us his plan and only his plan.

He cannot get the image of Joe Biden putting it to us straight, Obama makes some poor choices for a guy hoping to be Commander in Chief. Obama's ego has fractured the entire Party.

Palin did say that she was going to do away with lobbyist power, and Joe Biden's son immediately quit his job as a lobbyist to seek better work. Her power got the job done that neither Biden or Obama could.

Thank you for clarifying that we are at war with Islam. I thought after 9/11 we were going to get Bin Laden! I didn't realize that we were in a RELIGIOUS war with about a third of the world's population. I think I'll just find a nice cave to hide in while the battle rages.

Obama's kids are back in school. Why disrupt them for a "show" at Ground Zero which is supposed to be about the people who died there. The candidates, in fact, were asked not to attend the morning's ceremonies because they would take the focus off the occasion. Personally , I was offended that Cindy McCain came traipsing along. If Obama had shown up en famile, you no doublt would complain about him showing off his vibrant little daughters at a solumn occasion. The fact is, you hate Obama. You don't need a reason.

Talking heads are wrong on the strategy about whether Obama should go after Palin. He needs to completely go after Palin as she is keeping this race close. Obama would be up by 10-15 points, as he was after the convention, before the Palin announcement. If he could brand Palin as unacceptable to America, to radical, not honest, and not ready to lead a country with two wars-this race could be a blow out. He should focus all strategist on her issues and lies. He should set the stage that McCain was impulsive with his pick. Bill and Hillary had great speeches and unified the party, and McCain fell apart. He selected someone who he did not properly vet, and whose positions he was unclear on. Obama should paint him as "shoot first and ask questions later Johnny". He does not have the temperment and intelligence to be president at a time like this. Mitt would have been great for the GOP. Dodd, Biden, Obama, Clinton all had more intellectual horsepower and advanced education and training. No case is more compelling than the decision to make Palin VP. Obama's party wanted HRC, but Obama bucked his party to get the best team to help govern and get things done in the Senate. Expose Palin for the actress that she is. Force the media to vet her. Point out John's lack of judgement.

Patience, greglogic. Palin's bubble is bursting as her record and incompetence become fair game for the entire international stage. McCain's decision in picking her tells us a lot about how he makes important, executive decisions. He won't do his homework, and he'll be impulsive and reactionary. His lack of good judgment is becoming evident to all. Focus on him not the VP.

McCain would love Obama to concentrate on his VP as McCain folds, spindles and mutilates Obama, an easy target as he is not all that smart.
This stratagy might work IF obama had a VP to help put Palin in a cross fire! But Biden..is... well... vulnerable to blistering attacks to come. He is very soft of violent criminals!!! Always has been!
The problem is two liberal lefties share one slippery ice block to float on and are in a cross fire from what what is a moderate platform AND a conservitive platform! The two liberal Whiney Swimey are bitterly clinging to each other. Biden was a wrong Obama pick for offence against the stronger ticket!

Why don't you give the rest of us some documentation of your assertions above? A link we can go to. I'm interested in learning facts - but not biased opinions. Thanks!
