As a woman, what frightens me the most about Sarah Palin is her "barracuda" behavior. I've never trusted women like her since I was in junior high and saw how they played the bully game to their benefit - and I never trusted them in the corporate arena when I saw how they would cut another woman off at the knees to curry favor with the (inevitably) male bosses - so I'm not going to trust her in a political office either. I'm not voting for her or anyone like her, not now, not ever!

Hi, I am looking for an article (I believe in sept 2008) regarding men not growing up enough in their early 20's. I saw some comments about this in the "what women want" issue in the letters to the editor. I want to find that article to show my daughter.

Palin religiously believes that these are the "end times." So she is okay with American or the world being distroyed, because Christians will go to heaven.

Obviously, Palin will not keep us safe from terrorism.

    Think this over.

It is getting a little tiresome posting arguments with documented resources, only to have many of the democrats and left wing liberals conveniently ignore them or make ridiculous claims that make no sense and have no basis in fact.

Therefore, I am trying a different approach.

As the left wing democrat Chicken Little said, ???The sky is falling, the sky is falling!???

After reading some of these biased post in favor of Obama. I wonder if Marrian Webster would consider changing the spelling of DEMS to Dims. They don't appear very bright, do they?

Frankly I thought it was the otehr way around, and I've been an independent until recently, at least they didn't vote for Bush. That was really smart . And now you want to vote a dingbat hockey mom who can see Russia and thinks womens rights are about varsity basketball into office a heartbeat away from the presidency! Good God, I shudder to think what would happen if McCain(who also is an incompetent hothead) fell ill or died. We would be in serious trouble. Have you people REALLY thought long and hard about that? Some energy expert...I've seen and read every I can and I KNOW she's wrong for this.

Well ok lets hang on to the candidates extra curricular activities.

Palin hunts and is a hockey mom

Obama sits in a racist church whom blames white people for all of the problems with the black community.

Yeah, I'll go with the hockey mom.

If you want to look at what they do for a living.

Palin is a GOVERNOR= No Present votes allowed/ must make a decision

Obama is a Senator= Mis-votes, redo's, do overs, present votes.
The funniest thing about this is Obama graduated top of his class and you never question how such an intelligent individual could possibly mis-vote. Seems like 1st day stuff for a HARVARD GRAD doesn't it?

Wow - you really want to ride the Palin as qualified VP? Name one accomplishment in her 20 months as Governor? I looked for reform - there is nothing but hot air. You're a week behind on the news - so let me fill you in - she doesn't know foreign policy ("Bush Doctrine", won't second guess anyone), doesn't know domestic policy, and is clueless on the economy. The rest of us have given up trying to find a shred of truth in anything she says - so hope that catches you up now!

Your relationship with anybody does not interest me!

Do you remember when this used to be a political commentary website, before a few individuals began to post social and dating blogs, some of them possibly intimate, instead?

There are other avenues for that sort of correspondence.

The use of French and Italian language expressions didn't obscure the facts that were posted.

                      Davole,

Yes, I remember when NW was a political commentary site, do you? It's amazing that you spent weeks trading daily, if not hourly hate-filled, childish and moronic barbs with Harley. (None of it really political). You probably took up more blog space than Pia and I ever did, and then tell me NW is not the place for our light hearted posts that you found so offensive. At least we spoke in a foreign language for those that weren't 'interested'.

I didn't ask you if my relationship interested you. I said you're commenting on something you don't know about. However, if you have no interest, then you've contradicted yourself by mentioning twice that I haven't spoken to Pia in a "lovey-dovey" manner. Very observant for someone who's not interested. Our personal exchanges were moved away from NW some time ago.

                      • Posted By: Davole @ 09/21/2008 1:42:32 AM

                        Skypoint -

Harley was stalking me with pathetic insistent demands (over 170 times) that I reply to his biased and distorted rants - I responded to many of them, by refusing to answer, and stated my reasons.
And yes, I intervened whenever he attempted to harass anyone else, especially with his vulgar name-calling or disgusting sexual taunts.

Some of his demented rants to me were crass vulgar and even pornographic, and the object of your affections complimented him regarding them, and even encouraged more by hugs and kisses.

It wouldn't surprise me if you didn't bother to ask her why she did that - after all, why should her approval of vulgar false allegations that the other blogger and his father were having crude sex with my mother bother you - that would take some integrity on your part, and obviously it was lacking.

I didn't consider your light hearted posts to be offensive - at worst, they were extremely early teen immature, especially on a political commentary website.

Even another blogger commented in a friendly good-natured post, asking whether he should rent a hotel room with a vibrating bed for both of you. So, other viewers on this site also noticed.
I doubt that they would have noticed if it didn't strike them as out of place.

Although you corresponded in a foreign language, several of us do actually understand foreign languages, and this is a public website, not a drive-in movie theater.

So what if I didn't know about your relationship - who gives a darn about whatever the two of you do with each other or anyone else? It sure looks as though both of you are fixated and enthraled with being on the catwalk. For goodness sake, keep it to yourselves!

It may come as a surprise to you, but there is a difference between being interested in something and being observant of something - namely that you haven't spoken to Pia in a "lovey-dovey" manner recently. Can you understand that difference?

Ok - now I???ve replied to your comments!

                          Davole,

Your justification of your use of blog space versus others here at NW is fine... you and I see things differently. "Observant" to me, means some level of interest. You complain that our conversations were immature... I felt the same way with your exchanges with Harley, no matter the justification. When they grew a little monotonous however, I simply stopped reading them. I stayed out of your business, I didn't ask you to "take it to another site".

Regarding the other poster... Cloudosmoke liked Pia, and no would argue that he wasn't offended. His post was nothing more than a light hearted gag. In any event, he didn't voice any displeasure.

You and I had this conversation weeks ago, at which time I apologized for offending you. Your lack of "interest" would prompt me to think you would have left it there, especially since we had moved our personal exchanges away from NW.

We've crossed this bridge twice, and due to lack of interest on both sides, I see no reason to cross it again.

Davole and sharenews: You both are clearly intelligent. Your posts are informative, challenging and well thought-out. Floridave, you are just plain entertaining. You've made me laugh a lot and cry once (your post about losing your dad was incredibly touching.)

I suppose everyone has reasons for voting the way they do. As for me and my house, we are voting the law of our conscience. Our collective conscience agrees that ripping babies from a mother's womb is incomprehensible, but letting them die once they've been born due to a botched abortion is beyond heinous. IF Obama is a Christian, as he claims, he could not possibly believe this practice is okay (as evidenced by his voting record). If he is not a Christian... he's....well, you can do the math. Now, for the seemingly inevitable Democrat argument... What about the lives of the men and women who have died in Iraq/Afghanistan? My response is this: The men and women who have died in the service to our country were allowed to be born and lived and laughed and then died as heroes. How many babies who have been aborted could have been heroes? How many would have gladly sacrificed their lives in the service of their country if they had been given their choice? Isn't 50,000,000 dead babies enough? At least McCain and Palin have the strength of character to stand up for what they believe. That, among other things, is why they will be getting our (and many people we know) votes.

Davole, sharenews and Floridave, whatever YOUR reasons, thanks for representing. You rock!

I just dont believe the hype. pleased dont insult my intelligence as a womena dn ultimately as ahuman being that I would vote for a woman who wants to take women back fifty years and force girls to have babies even int he case of incest of rape. I am also a woman of faith but I dont go into libraries and try to take out bookd taht I find offensive. If we continue on this road of religious fundamentalism we wont be so different from the taliban.
And it is an embarrassment in a nation with so much wealth, opportunity , and an amazing constitution that we
could even consider electing a person like her. She is no Susan B. Anthony. This obsession by the religious
right to christianize the world is clearly part of her agenda. i have worked in low income communities for a long time and I am sorry but Sara Palin is not in touch with reality. We are a pluralistic society that says each person has the right to pursue life, liberty and happiness...Does Sara Palin believe that? I dont think so ..not based on her religious views and her actions. we need someone in office who is going to build bridges of peace and community and oneness..not division and the sinners verys the saved..its very primitive and we need someone who can stand on the world stage with an open mind and heart. I am sorry.but her mind does not seem very open and either does her heart. what women would promote pregnancy after a rape? Where is her compassion? That really disgusts me and most women I know. Lets not forget that in small towns like Wasilla alcoholism, incest, and domestic are way up their . I hope that most women and voters are smart enough to see beneath this primitive ideology. this is the 21st century...Could we wake up and realize there is such a thing as evolution. It is a fact and its happening right now. Wake up america and restore its greatness. Vote for a candidate who accepts all people. And by the way Jesu lived his life as a jew and loved prostitutes to get over your moral judgement. We are all one and we are born in love and are here to serve and to love...And if you cant love a certain person than you dont know God..so dont talk to me about God and sin when all you can do is judge...and hate. God is love period...so stop hating and start loving.

What facts do you have to support your assertion that Sarah Palin judges and hates?

    • Posted By: News and Notes @ 09/19/2008 4:59:18 PM

Many in the religious right judge others first and ask questions later. Personally I'm waiting to see what Palin has to say regarding her personal views as applied to policy positions. I have heard mixed reviews. I am eager to see her get tough questions on important issues before formaing my opinion on her. I wouldn't want to be accused of judging first and asking questions later.

Senator McCain???s history has shown us a cornucopia of flip-flops, much of which he calls being a ???Maverick??? but which have actually always been just trying to adjust for advantage. As seen before and after the Keating scandal, before and after running for president in 2000, before and after having his legs cut out from under him (which he claimed was the result of Bush???s dirty politics), before and after committing his strong support to Bush in 2004, and now before and after running for president again and then throughout this current campaign relating to most everything and so vividly in the current financial crisis. For the moment put aside Sarah Palin???s incompetence and gross dishonesty and just ask how can someone, John McCain, who is so out of touch and willing to change so frequently, at a moments notice, ever be trusted to resolve the problems, many of which were caused by the policies he so strongly supported? First he has been a strong advocate of deregulation and now he says more regulation is absolutely necessary. Then he was against any bailouts and within one day switched to say they were really needed now. He was strongly committed to continuing with the Bush-Cheney policies and now says that he and Palin are agents of change. He has always supported tax cuts for the wealthy and open markets favoring Special Interests and a select few and just today he is calling for stimulating the economy and addressing the problems by providing the needed support and protection for the middle class, who he has simply neglected in the past and instead had inferred benefit would ???trickle down??? (what ???trickled down??? was the costs as the big money got bailed out). He offers to appoint a commission and faults Obama for wanting to take the time to determine more aggressive and direct action. What he says, he quickly retracts or simply offers to explain what he really meant. Just a week ago he was so strongly touting that the economy had strong fundamentals, inferring it was ready to recover, and then changed that to mean he had faith in the American worker, as if they could turn things around on their own. The truth is he doesn???t have a clue, talks without thinking, changes after consulting with others, often just copies what Obama says and, as Joe Biden put it; he is completely out of touch. He really wants badly to be president before he retires and then desperately chose Sarah because he thought she would be aggressive and flashy when campaigning but what of anything does any of that do for the American people?

Again, as we have been so many times, we are hit between the eyes with the reality of our mistakes ??? but will we ever learn from them? Today???s shocking news reminds us that Pakistan is and has continually been a very serious problem and a threat to our interests. There would seem to be clear and rational evidence that those who advocated attacking Iraq was the wrong action for the wrong reasons, only benefit for Special Interests and a select few, were absolutely correct. Not advocating that we should have attacked Pakistan but any objective viewer would be hard pressed not to see that we would have been far better off concentrating our resources on Afghanistan and pressuring Pakistan to rid the area of Taliban and al Qaeda. Now that is simply a task we still have to do and is being left for the next president.

Then there is the current financial crisis here at home (with global impact) with the humongous tax payer sponsored bailout, simply caused and allowed by unchecked and uncontrolled greed. Even with the costly bailout it is unclear how much further the crisis and the drastically negative impact on our economy will go. The government is now committed to the heavy costs, necessitated only because the attitude all along has been for large scale deregulation in encouraging open markets and benefiting mainly Special Interests and a select few. The bailout itself again costs the average American while it really saves the big money people and may still leave us exposed to dire states. Once more it is a problem that is being left to the next president.

Will we ever learn from our mistakes? I don???t support the need for a big brother or for a large intrusive style government but it seems very obvious that a government offering more protection for the people and real checks and balances on the powerful is desperately needed; government is actually suppose to do for the people that which they can???t do for themselves, instead of just rationalizing benefiting a select few. This presidential election is our chance to prove we have learned from our mistakes by not electing someone who has supported these passed failed policies, by not electing someone who is committed to continue with more of the same, by not electing someone who again would be just a puppet for Special Interests and a select few, by not electing someone who offers just change rhetoric, much as GWBush did, but rather by electing someone who has the intellect and commitment to offer real change that benefits all of the people. Whatever anyone???s biases, prejudices and emotional attachments tell them, the reality is that Obama-Biden fills the bill and McCain-Palin does not.

Barack Obama profited substantially by receiving financial support from the corrupt executives of Fanny Mae and Freddie Mac.

An investigation of his involvement in those 2 companies should be conducted immediately.

John McCain and Sarah Palin will ensure that effective regulatory controls are placed on these 2 lending institutes which, capitulated to democrat insistence that mortgages should be granted to individuals who could not repay those mortgages.

The democrats in Congress are the real culprits in this political party greed fiasco.

Palin is not for women. She's for Palin. There is not one thing on her record to show she has done anything for women, and insisting rape victims pay $1000 for a rape testing kit shows she is also mean-spirited. If a man took that position, women would be horrified. How many bosses would hire a person with Palin's record of lying about her so-called accomplishments? Palin's "reforms" are all Palin-promotion actions -- a real reformer would have taken on Sen. Stevens.

Where is your proof that Sarah Palin has insisted that "rape victims pay $1000 for a rape testing kit"?

Obamabot talking points spew that, but the allegation is not factual.

Sadly - I think you are right. I'm not sure if Sarah Palin has told the truth on anything. Every line in her one speech has either been a straight out lie - or a big distortion of the truth. She is the Bridge to Nowhere!

great arguments newswkdickg, that is how you make a point! to piggyback on that, contrary to what the republicans are saying, obama does not want to raise everyone's taxes. in fact, he wants to lower taxes for people who make less than $250,000, which make up about 95% of the population. he also wants to lower taxes for small businesses. also, everyone thinks his health care plan will raise taxes - wrong. his health care plan lowers the costs of health care for workers AND businesses. this will make health care affordable to everyone, not just people who have good jobs for businesses that make a lot of money. his health care plan also creates jobs by lowering the costs for businesses so that they can hire more people to work. yes, under his administration, the government will get bigger. but considering that all the money in our country is tied up in 5% of the population, which is the same people who control all the big businesses, how is that bad? because it takes a little bit of money out of their pockets and distributes it to a few more people - people who really need it? anybody who thinks our economy has strong fundamentals is far away from the real america. the america where people have to go to work everyday and have to look at their paycheck and their bills and have to budget to keep a roof over their families heads. someone with 7 houses who says that our economy has strong fundamentals is a far cry from that, and if you don't realize that then you must be just like mccain.

Why do many of the obamabots regularly post their rants more than once on the same discussion board?

Are they so insecure in their opinion that they think (no, change that word to feel) that if they post the same rant more than once, it will somehow magically gain more validity and importance?

Do you have any rational reason for posting your 2 identical blogs within less than a 15 second interval?

Are you demonstrating that the attention span of an obamabot is severely limited?

Look up the definition of the fundamentals. Majority of the economists are stating the fundamentals, "basics??? are sound it is the financial institutions that are causing the concern.

First of all 40% of the population does not pay taxes. They are in the lower tax brackets. OBAMA has voted 96% with the DEMS. The DEMS are not only for bailing out the Mortgage and Insurance companies but let???s just add a little more and bail out all Americans. So much for reducing the spending by the DEMS? But OBAMA likes the CELEBS, so let's take the royalties from their Movies, television shows and re-distribute the funds to Americans. Hard working Americans are not asking for handouts or charity from the American Government. 40% of Americans do not pay taxes, if you are not paying taxes but receive 2K in rebate from taxes what is that. Can I write it off my taxes as a charitable contribution or as BIDEN states because I am very patriotic? P.S. The war costs money and when that money is not being spent on the war, the spending STOPS not go to some other project. You do remember reduce the deficit....

Palin believes you shouldn't f*ck your family members and in stiffer penalties for rape.

    2. How does this affect womens rights as you stated above? Just filling in blanks or telling lies?

    3. Again, how does this affect the rights of woman? And why does this bother you? What are you afraid of?"

Could I please ask for some insight into how you would validate these statements in factual reality, WITHOUT inserting your personal religious beliefs, and your personal ideals? Thus far, you don't. Can i suggest you stop being so judgmental and self-righteous and think about that possibility that people's personal decisions are sometimes beyond the scope of your personal thoughts? And perhaps have you considered that your personal opinion isn't the same thing as fact, and that your religion-centered views are NOT applicable to everyone?

I posted this answer below in reply to someone else, but since you specifically asked, I thought I would reply to your request also.

There is much controversy over when life begins. This is not a done deal. If one understands science and human development, one would know:

      1. Neurogenesis shows brain activity at about 6 weeks. This is also about the time the human heart begins to beat (independent of the mother) and blood flow begins. This is why the subject is such a heated debate... it is not necessarily a religious belief... these are facts that can be found in any Embryology book or class.

In the healthcare system we declare a person deceased when there is no brain activity and no heart beat. Therefore, if no brain or heart activity means 'no life', then the presence of brain and heart activity would mean there 'is life'. You will note that no where in this explanation did you see any mention of a religious belief. It is all based on Embryology 101. Hence, Not every anti-abortion person is Catholic... some make their decision based on their scientific training.

There are many doctors and nurses, those who receive no financial gain from this practice, who do not agree with abortion for this reason. It has nothing to do with religion. We are all from different backgrounds, religions, and beliefs, but we do have science and medicine in common. (You will notice I used the word 'many', not 'all'). That should help you understand just how controversial this is AND that it is not always based on a religious belief.

I know this is a repeat, but I am amazed at how many obama supporters do not get it. What really surprises me, is that most of you know this is a fact and yet you defend his decision, I do not know what is more scary, obama or the people who agree with him.

It is amazing how the Obama supporters keep bring-up the same ole, same ole, she is a liar, she is terrible, she is horrible. And yet, they forget that Obama was the only senator, the only one to vote against (NO) on an important piece of legislation created to help the most innocent and vulnerable in our country, infants in need of urgent medical care.

We are talking about living, breathing babies, the result of botched abortions, who are OUTSIDE of the mother. Breathing on their own. Without this bill, those performing the abortions were strangling, smothering, and breaking the necks of these infants.

Why do you think the government had to step in and write this bill. They had nothing better to do with their time with all of the other issues this country is facing ??? Even pro-abortion legislators voted, Yes except Obama !!! That is a scary, dangerous character flaw, which speaks volumes to those who take the time to listen.

For those few obama supporters who do not know about this issue, ask your fellow obama team members, I am sure they will help bring you up to speed.

Lynn, you are correct. Many big-O supporters do not know about this issue. You should see their faces when they're told. There's no defense, so they have nothing to say. Thanks for helping get the facts out.

Dems want to debate issues and have a serious conversation. Republicans just seem to resort to a lot of name-calling. I would seriously like to know what McCain/Palin are going to do to fix the economy? Obama has been clear on the next step - and I like how he pulled in Paul Volcker and others for a serious discussion this week. I really do think McCain is out of touch - he still believes the fundamentals of the economy are sound (they probably are for him) - and his 26 year track history of de-regulation is solid - and horrific.
If you don't agree with me - that's fine - but leave the personal insults and the CAPS out of your response - it just reinforces my point when you behave that way.

      Ok then, Here you go:

This is a copy and paste from another post.
This clip only speaks to the Financial terrorism piece. The Soros piece has been on national news stations, I am hoping that someone puts the newflash on the internet so we can all view it together.

You want to talk about an important investigation that needs to be completed before the election. Financial terrorism, Soros being the one behind it all.

This is the One that needs to be completed first, not the overblown Palin one!

      Copy and Paste piece:

Obama supporter George Soros led a team of financiers and hedge funds that tried to bring down the USA banking system last week with naked short positions.
They decided to do this in an emergency action when they saw Obama begin to drop behind in the polls.
Aides have stated that Obama specifically approved of the attempt to destroy our USA banking system so that he could sieze power.
      Here watch Cramer:
Cramer flat out says financial terrorism is involved:

      Please watch this video.
Traders are reporting that Soros and entities controlled by Soros had the biggest short positions.
